"I've been on Seasonique for over a year. For the first six months, I had non-stop spotting, which made sex embarrassing. But I have endometriosis and thought having no pain outweighed the spotting. Now I have two new problems: I am overweight by 15 lbs and can't lose the weight even though I work out 4 times a week and eat very healthy. I have also lost all my sex drive! At this point, I am thinking of going back to my gyno and finding another solution. The cons far outweigh the pros for me."

"On week 3 of taking this pill. I don't know how I will tolerate it for 2 more months. We'll see if I can stick it out. Am taking this as part of addressing anemia resulting from several fibroids. I will give it 2 more weeks, but have severe cramps, so bad that I have left work early, which is why I am on this to begin with... for heavy bleeding and pain."

"I have been taking Seasonique pretty much since it first came out about 7 years ago, and I've never had any spotting or negative side effects at all. My period usually starts the Friday after I start the inactive pills and is completely over within 3 days. I have always had awful cramps and mood swings, and the Seasonique doesn't help much with those, but it's not so bad when it's only 4 times a year. Overall, this pill is amazing. It used to be pretty expensive, but now it's only $20 with my insurance. Split over 3 months, that is really cheap!"

"I've been taking Seasonique for almost 9 months now. The first month is fine, I don't get my period or any bleeding or any other side effects. As soon as the second month is almost over, I start spotting, and I don't stop spotting until I receive my period at the end of the 3rd month. I spot for months straight, and it's actually ridiculous. This pill is very expensive, and it's only supposed to give 4 periods a year, yet all I do is bleed. The spotting is little to no blood, which is very annoying. My sex drive is non-existent, which ultimately makes being on the pill completely pointless."

"Been on Seasonique for about 5 years, switched me to Ashlyna 3 years ago. The first 3 months, I recall feeling nauseous and having intermittent spotting, I almost stopped taking the darn thing. After reading reviews to wait it out, I can say I'm so glad I did. I no longer have periods, even on my off week. I'm told it's normal, and my uterus is fine. I'm no longer building a lining for potential pregnancy that needs to be shed every month. This birth control has leveled out my emotions, I no longer get the moodiness I once did every month. I have gained weight, about 5 lbs or so. Is it my pill or my age? Who could say? I'm not about to stop taking it to find out, though. Lol!"

"I have been on Seasonique for 3 months. I had been spotting every day since I started using it, and I had a full-blown period 2 weeks after starting to use it. I love the fact that I only get my period every 3 months, but the spotting is not much better. I notice that I get really angry sometimes for no reason, and I feel sad and depressed. It also made me gain 15 lbs, which is making me a bit stressed out. I talked to my doctor, and she said since I'm just starting this medication, my body has to get used to it. I think I'm going to wait 3 more months to see how my body adjusts to it. Also, I take my pill at the same time every day on the dot, so my spotting is not caused by missing doses or taking it at different times."

"I've been taking Seasonique for two years. When I first started using it, nothing major really changed with my body, but after the first couple of months, I started to break out more often, and my sex drive was practically non-existent. Two years later, the acne problem isn't as bad, but my sex drive is still gone, and during intercourse, I am also dry, which makes intercourse uncomfortable. This was my first birth control, and I am now switching."

"I've been on this birth control for about a year, and I like it just fine. It can be so hard to find a birth control that is right for you! This one is great because you only have to have a period every three months! I've read a few reviews that say they skip the sugar pills and forego having a period. I've tried that twice, and both times I had a ton of breakthrough bleeding and basically had my period anyway. Maybe it's different for everyone. I have started getting migraines occasionally lately, which isn't normal for me. I think this may be a side effect of this pill that is fairly common. Other than that, the pill has worked really well for me! It doesn't make me gain weight, which was an issue for me with other pills."

"Honestly, I know experiences often depend on the woman, but I had nothing but problems. I bled every single day for 4 months before I finally stopped taking it. It was awful. I am a healthy young woman with a regular period. My doctor said the bleeding was normal. But 4 months straight? I don't think so. That being said, the upside was I didn't have worsening acne, weight gain, headaches, etc."

"I have been on this pill for a year and a half. It took my body over 6 months to finally adjust to this pill and stop spotting. Cramps are worsened when my period finally does come. The only benefits of this pill are its effectiveness in pregnancy prevention and fewer periods. The following are just a few of my negative side effects I’ve had since starting this pill: - dry eyes - anxiety - heart palpitations - extreme appetite increase - 20-pound weight gain and cannot lose it! - dry skin - cellulite - spider veins - random PMS - tired/low energy all the time - dry brittle hair/hair thinning - extreme bloating - headaches - yeast infections once a month (never had them before the pill) - more discharge - different body odor. Stopping this pill ASAP!"

"I've been on this BC for 1 month. I had no adverse symptoms or side effects for the full 4 weeks (no nausea, bloating, headaches, etc.) until my period started at its usual time... though it's much lighter. On day 4 of my period, so hopefully, it doesn't last much longer! Having some dull cramping on and off too, which is unusual for me. That said, this can happen with any pill when you start, so I will give it more time before a final review!"

"First day I noticed a lot of panic attacks. Thought I would just wait it out. Next couple of days felt more depressed. Also had trouble sleeping. Third night I was crying my eyes out and started feeling a really dark mood and depressed. Not worth it. Stopped and felt so much better."

"I'm going into my third pack of the generic brand. I LOVE IT. Of course, with any medication, there's always side effects and allowing your body to get used to it. My first pack I bled for a little over a month, but of course that was already spoken about at the doctor's. I'm about to go into my third pack in about a week and a half, and I've had some light spotting, but nothing to be alarmed about. A little upsetting because I don't want my period at all unless it's when I'm supposed to get it, but this is normal. I highly recommend this method of birth control, my friend encouraged me to do this instead of continuing with the IUD I had inserted for 4 years. I give it a 10!"

"First day: 2 hours later, I completely had a fast heartbeat. I was really dizzy and felt like I had a lot of water weight on my body. I thought it was just my body adjusting, so I continued to have hope for this pill. Day 2: Anxiety lessened, but I noticed I had an extreme fast heartbeat when I was resting, like when I was on the bed. Trouble sleeping. Signs of depression. Day 3: Depressive and hard to sleep. I was bawling my eyes out in bed that night. Day 4: Depressive symptoms. Agitated. Woke up with a severe panic attack. Today: I quit. I would rather have a heavier period than put up with depression from the pill."

"I've been using this product for four years. Anyone who is concerned about spotting and immediately switches is just being impatient. It's not easy for your body to be programmed to have a period monthly and then switch in an instant to every three months. You will have spotting for the first two to three cycles, but it will go away! You must be patient and give your body time to adjust. There are so many versions of this available now: Seasonique, Seasonale. If one isn't working for you because you feel as though it's giving you worse cramps, acne, etc., try another brand. I have not experienced worse acne, and my periods are shorter and less painful. Remember, your life changes-just because your acne got worse doesn't mean it was automatically your birth control."

"I’ve been on Seasonique for about nine months. I just started my 4th pack. I was originally on the shot, but it made me extremely depressed after getting it once, so I took a 5-month break and started Seasonique. I rarely have mood swings, I don’t get acne or headaches, and haven’t gained any weight. This birth control was perfect for me until I started bleeding for 3 months straight. I don’t bleed a lot, I could pass by just wearing liners all day, but it stops for maybe a week when I start a new pack, and I start it again out of nowhere. If I didn’t bleed so constantly, this would be the perfect birth control for me. When I am on my “period pills,” I only bleed for about 4 days and get a little cramp here and there, but it’s nothing compared to how they used to be. Debating if I should wait to finish my last pack or just try to get a new one."

"Seasonique was absolutely horrible for me. I bled heavily for three months straight. The bleeding went from spotting to the point where clots the size of my fist were coming out. I had to take medical leave from my job because the bleeding was so bad. I ended up needing a D&C to clear everything out and start fresh with no birth control. While Seasonique was totally free with my insurance, it cost me tons in heavy-duty sanitary products, hospital bills, and lost wages."

"This is by far the best birth control I have been on. I've been on Seasonique for about 2 or 3 years now, and not once have I had a single problem with it. Once I do start my period, it only lasts 3 days, and it starts out heavy the first few hours but then gets really light. All the other birth controls I've been on, I experienced so many side effects. Thumbs up to this one that works wonderfully."

"So, I was on this birth control from 2014 to 2017, and I LOVED it. I went through many trials and errors before finding that this medication didn’t cause me any awful side effects. Others I tried made me secretly nauseous to the point of not being able to keep anything down, lightheadedness, headaches. I raved and raved about this birth control! My doctor recommended that I stop due to an autoimmune disease that I was suspected to have. I stopped for one year and recently got back on it and just finished my first three months. This time was a completely different experience for me, and I am SO confused. Terrible spotting, ACNE (I have never had acne in my life), spotting heavily, along with a heavy period, which is why I am on this BC to begin with primarily. I realized that the manufacturer is Mylan, and before I don’t know exactly what brand, but it was in a bright green case, and those worked great for me. Can’t figure out what manufacturer that was or if it makes a difference."

"I was on this birth control for about a year, and I don't know why I waited so long to get off of it. I had cystic acne all over my face (I used to never break out before this pill), and I lost 20 pounds. I'm not a big girl in the first place, but this pill got me down to 90 pounds because of the severe nausea. Also, I was moody the entire time I was on it. I went on Ortho Tri-Cyclen, and it saved my life."

"I've been taking this pill for two months, my first birth control I've ever been on. At first, it was okay, and it definitely cleared up my skin. Bloating was expected but not wanted. I also experienced a lot of vaginal discharge. Now that I'm in the second month, however, I have begun cramping on top of the discharging. Sort of scary when you look up 'cramping on the pill', and all the links have the title 'signs of early pregnancy' :/"

"I am 38 years old. I have been on this pill for the last three years on and off. I was good in the beginning, but after a year, everything is not good. I have bad mood swings, headaches, and now my period comes before I even start the last month. I figured I would continue to try it, but I cannot anymore. With severe pains and excessive bleeding to the point I have had to go home from work, I wear Depend undergarments at night because I use three packs of overnight pads in the space of a week. I have never had problems this bad until lately. I am already anemic as is and cannot continue with this pill. One good thing is I have never gotten pregnant on it."

"I never know when my period is going to be on this pill. I get spotting twice a month sometimes. Currently, I am on one of the heaviest periods I've ever been on, and there is so much uterine lining that I'm thinking it's from past periods that were just from those random spottings, maybe supposed to be periods. It's so horrible. I've been on this pill for over 6 months and have bled way too much in that period of time."

"I was on Seasonique for a little over 2 weeks. I developed a blood clot about halfway through that time from it. I didn't know it until it started hurting. I'm not trying to scare the rest of you ladies! I just wanted to say, pay VERY close attention to your body when you start this therapy. Especially your limbs. Report any pain, swelling, aching, or burning sensations in your arms or legs ASAP to your doctors or go to the nearest emergency room!"

"Seasonique was prescribed to me by my doctor because, after years on Alesse, I started experiencing light spotting about a week before my scheduled period. I also had low iron, so my doctor prescribed Seasonique to defer my periods. As soon as I started taking this medication, my waist appeared not as lean. I didn’t put on weight, but I’m experiencing water retention and bloat. My boobs are very sore; while they’ve gotten bigger, they’re not totally even, and the largeness sort of makes it a bit more obvious. My right boob needs to catch up, whomp whomp. With not having a period, I always think I’m pregnant. Six weeks in, and the hunger starts. I’m so hungry that I feel faint. I can pound back food without issue, and normal portions don’t fill me up. Also, I’m starting to feel nauseous despite taking it at bedtime."
