For Atrophic Vaginitis "I am a 57-year-old female who started using Estrace for vaginal dryness, painful intercourse, and almost immediately noticed falling hair. I asked my doctor who assured me that it would never cause hair loss. After 3 months, my hair was so thin that a rubber band no longer stays put. I quit Estrace almost 2 months ago, and the hair continues to fall."

For Atrophic Vaginitis "I'm only giving Estrace Cream a 3 rating on the scale due to there being issues with the product. I have been using this product for a couple of years. It did help until the last few months. I went from using it 2-3 times a week to needing it every other day. My frustration comes from the amount that is actually in the tube. It says there are 42.5 grams in the tube, I always keep track of the amount in the tube and end up with about 24 grams out of the tube in the end. Has anyone else kept track of this? Also, I can't afford it, when I went yesterday to pick up a new tube, they wanted $290 for 1 tube?! Why would it be this expensive? That was even after my insurance paid a portion."

For Atrophic Vaginitis "I'm a 41-year-old woman who went into early menopause two years ago. Vaginal dryness and all the other wonderful symptoms of menopause are not something that I would like to deal with at my age, but sometimes we can't control. So, my doctor prescribed Estrace, and I use 1mg 2x a week. I was told that it would take about 6-8 weeks before seeing a difference. At the end of that time frame, I saw only a slight difference in vaginal dryness but many side effects. I had headaches, dizziness, bloating, and calf pain."

For Atrophic Vaginitis "Used as directed and not sure it did much, truthfully. I have been having bioidentical estrogen and testosterone implants, and that does seem to be very effective. Also, an OTC product called Luvena (Restorative Vaginal Moisturizer, pH balanced) is super effective and doesn't cause the stinging and breakthrough bleeding of Estrace. Luvena is significantly cheaper than the insanely overpriced Estrace ($300 or a $72 co-pay). Really, Estrace should cost about $15 and not the criminally high price it is. Bottom line: Not a fan of Estrace and certainly not worth the $72 co-pay for stinging and bleeding for me at ten years post-menopause."

For Atrophic Vaginitis "I’ve only been on Estrace for a week, my symptoms? Hot flashes day and night, mood swings, I’d go up to the bedrooms and feel my heart palpitating, low energy, have a hard time getting up in the morning, no interest in anything. This cream is heaven-sent, I’m looking forward to the next couple of weeks, have faith that it can only get better. I feel like a human being. I was honestly feeling like I was losing who I am. I’ll keep you guys posted..."

For Atrophic Vaginitis "Side effects of breakthrough bleeding and little relief from thin tissue do not warrant the cost. If over $300 with a co-pay of $75. This is price gouging for a cream that should cost no more than $20 at the very most -- and I'm being generous. Overpriced meds are out of control. I won't bother using Estrace anymore."

"I've been using Estrace 1 mg 2 times a week for around 9-10 years. It does help with the dryness, itching, and burning symptoms, but I've had two bladder infections. I can't help but wonder if having to REUSE the applicator (and maybe not being able to wash it properly or having leftover soap on it) is the cause. I hope to find a good source for disposable applicators so I can feel safer using this medicine."

For Atrophic Vaginitis "My doctor gave me this cream for my vaginal dryness and pain and burning when I urinate. I'm 47 years old. I haven't had my period since this January and started with the terrible dry vagina symptoms. I just started using the cream, so far I haven't noticed any bad side effects yet, and I hope I won't have any. I noticed that the burning sensation is less when I urinate. This morning when I woke up, I feel my vagina less dry, but halfway through the day the dryness came back. I hope that the more time I use the cream, the symptoms of dry vagina will go away completely. I have avoided having sex with my husband because I'm afraid it's going to hurt more. I'm very motivated after reading the reviews I read before, and maybe I can return to enjoy sex again."

For Atrophic Vaginitis "Extraordinarily overpriced since it is plant-based, which means it is probably just soy. Even with my Medicare drug insurance, it was going to be over $200. I called a pharmacy where I used to get my compounded hormones - $27 plus shipping. I suggest you do too."

For Atrophic Vaginitis "Painful sex for a year and a half. Was at my wits' end, finally went to the doctor and described severe pain and dryness not relieved. She prescribed this cream. Miracle drug! No more pain, dryness improving. My husband and I are thrilled! Go on their website for a coupon. Almost 300 bucks, but I only had to pay $25.00."

For Atrophic Vaginitis "This past February, I literally thought my insides were being ripped out. I expected to see them lying on the floor after sex one Monday afternoon. I was throbbing and hurting the rest of the evening and into the morning. The next day, I called my GYN and begged to be seen. She diagnosed me with this and several rips. She gave me an Estrace cream sample and a prescription along with one for the rips. I do not have medical insurance. I healed the rips with coconut oil and started the cream, 1 oz, 2 times a week. She says it is not absorbed. Well, all I know is that my hot flashes have lessened, sex is not painful, and if I don't use it like I'm supposed to, all that changes! I'm blessed to have friends in the medical field that can keep me supplied with samples."

For Atrophic Vaginitis "Doc gave me samples of Estrace cream 2 weeks ago. I use 2x per week for dryness and help restore thinning vaginal lining (prolapse problems). Noticed right away more hair loss the day after I use it. I was told this would not affect me in any way and only work locally in the vagina. I can't afford to lose more hair. I'm going to watch it and try a couple more times and if I notice hair loss continues, I'll stop. I also use an all-natural menopause cream (just started last month) has estrogen and progesterone from all-natural sources. It seemed to be helping hair loss and all-around symptoms. My first time on hormone treatment after my total hysterectomy seven years ago."

For Atrophic Vaginitis "I'm 57 and have been using Estrace cream sporadically for about a year. I've found the drug component to be pretty effective, but I just hate that greasy goop it's put in. It seems to leave a trail for days as it leaks out. I would prefer something that absorbs better."

For Hypoestrogenism "I am a 50-year-old woman who started menopause around 37. I've been prescribed this cream and did well on it, but if I stop taking it, I tend to go back to having vaginal dryness. My main concern is that I've never been bigger than a size 8 and now I can hardly fit into a 10. I think it's caused weight gain and if I stop taking it, the weight does not go away. Has anyone else experienced this?"

For Atrophic Urethritis "I have been using Estrace cream for 11 years, and it's been working. I use about 1/3 applicator every 5 or 6 days. Suddenly, it stopped working. I don't have a bladder infection, I already went through yeast infection treatment, both Diflucan and vaginal creams, and my vagina still burns. The Estrace cream relieves it, but only for about 6 or 10 hours. I am 70 and not sexually active. I know years ago the urologist said everything looked kind of shriveled up and dry down there. Could the hormone cream just not work anymore? Now, what do I do?"

For Atrophic Urethritis "I have used Estrace samples for 6 months or so. I ran out and went to buy another tube. 375.00! And my insurance didn't cover any of it. (Costco was 325.00) I called my doctor, and they gave me a coupon, but my insurance didn't work with it. So overpriced. And my insurance just went up a 100 dollars a month. I just can't buy a medicine that is so overpriced. I thought it would be 50 dollars or so. There must be something else we can use? Also, the information I read said estrogens may increase the chances of getting cancer of the uterus. Why would we want to take this? I've got to do more homework and find something better!"

For Atrophic Urethritis "I used this once 3 weeks ago. Immediately had horrible burning and was up all night with what felt like a UTI. Am now on my 3rd antibiotic due to the inflammation and feel like these symptoms will never go away. It may be a Godsend for some, but if you are allergic, it is a nightmare."

For Atrophic Vaginitis "I have been using Estrace vaginal cream for 8 weeks now, about 2x a week, and it has helped my vaginal dryness and prolapse, but I am experiencing side effects: anxiety, bleeding gums, joint and muscle pain, problems with sleep. I don't like this. I am going to look for a more natural estrogen."

For Atrophic Vaginitis "I have suffered with endometriosis since I was 16 years of age. Needless to say, they did a full hysterectomy at 34 years of age, and I still suffered painful sex after having my hormone shots each month. I was still having pain. My doctor prescribed this cream, and so far, so good. Hopefully, it continues to help me. This is embarrassing to women, especially at this age."

For Atrophic Vaginitis "I tried 1 gram of Estrace 4 days in a row. I had extreme dryness prior to taking it. It corrected that, however, I experienced itching, burning, and several trips to the bathroom at night to urinate. I am through with it!"

For Atrophic Vaginitis "I have been using 1 mg every night for 12 days and am not sure if I can tolerate my side effect symptoms much longer to see if the cream actually works to diminish extremely painful intercourse due to dryness. I now have very tender breasts, a constant mild headache, and swelling, tenderness, and dryness of the external genitalia almost since the first day that I started using the cream. The only good effect so far is that my libido does seem to be heightened. So now I feel 'sexy' again but can't do anything about it because of all my discomfort! I plan on continuing to use the cream at every third day intervals for 2 more weeks to see if my side effects subside. If I am still miserable, I will stop the medication and look for a non-prescription vaginal moisturizer as my last hope for a continued sex life."

For Atrophic Vaginitis "USE IT OR LOSE IT. Was prescribed Estrace cream for dryness & painful sex. Once a day for 2 weeks, then twice a week. 10 days and dramatic improvement. Here is the deal: waiting for 2 weeks before attempting sex. After 5 days, I was able to do it with no problem. Not really enjoyable, but not painful at all. Best time was first in the morning for a couple of minutes. But if morning is not an option, then a couple of minutes at night. But before inserting the cream so you don't accidentally take it all out."

For Atrophic Vaginitis "It's just okay with decreasing dryness. I still need to use other over-the-counter lubricants, but this cream has brought back my sex drive! It stimulates my girl libido big time! So for that, I love this product!"

For Atrophic Vaginitis "The last 2 times when I used Estrace cream, I had bad burning and felt like I had a UTI. Out of desperation, I decided to try a vaginal yeast infection cream w/applicator to see if it made a difference. It did, both times! Within hours, the symptoms decreased. By the next day, no further issues. Had no idea others had burning from the Estrace cream until I got on this site. May check out getting it compounded. I wonder why after years of using the Estrace (brand name), did this start all of the sudden. Have the ingredients changed?"
