Esomeprazole for GERD "Absolutely awful drug... I took it for 3 days. Yes, it worked by removing the incessant burning. However, the side effects were horrific and take quite some time to get rid of. Day 4 chest pain out of the blue lasting for several minutes ended up in the emergency room. ECG normal. Lethargy, anxiety, terrible stomach cramps, diarrhea, back pain, limb weakness, neck pain and cramps, swaying... This drug is SO toxic. It took a week or two for it all to subside."

Esomeprazole for GERD "I have been taking 40 mg of Nexium twice a day for about a year. Prior to that, I was taking a single 40 mg dose per day, however, I began to have more problems with acid reflux. I began to lose my voice and had frequent chest pains. The doctor doubled my dose, and it seems to have helped. No more chest pains, and my voice is normal again. I did everything the doctor suggested, I don't eat or drink things that would make it worse. I elevated my bed, stopped drinking coffee, etc. Now, seeing reports on television about how taking Nexium for long periods can increase the risk of heart attacks, heart failure, and now dementia, my concern level is high. I'm just wondering what other people have done to help cut back on Nexium. Thank you."

Esomeprazole for GERD "I have been taking this medication for the past 4 months, 20 mg but recently up to 40 mg. I wanted to stop taking it a while ago as I felt it wasn’t working, but the specialist insists on taking it. Since taking 40 mg, I have felt so nauseous, have headaches, and feel so dizzy. Since reading these reviews, I have only just put 2 and 2 together. This drug is the cause of all the weird symptoms I’ve been experiencing for the past few months. I’ve had multiple doctor visits due to having bad palpitations, chest tightness, and breathlessness very regularly for the past few months. Had heart ultrasound and multiple ECGs, doctors have said my heart is fine and it’s my anxiety, yet it has nothing to do with my anxiety. This is the best I have ever felt mentally. These symptoms just hit me randomly. Before this drug, I didn’t feel like this. It’s truly scary thinking about all the symptoms these drugs cause and doctors insist it’s fine. I’m going to stop taking this ASAP. NEVER AGAIN!"

Esomeprazole for GERD "So I was taking Nexium 40 mg. I took it for a month. It didn't really work. I kept taking it thinking that maybe it takes time, but all I can say is it made my anxiety worse! Every morning my ears were ringing so loud, and my head felt fuzzy. I hated that feeling! I would feel chest pains as well. My GI doctor said that was from heartburn, but honestly, I knew it was the Nexium. I still keep taking it like a dummy because people I knew had a great experience with this med. In the end, I threw them away. Everyone is different, and this for me was just toxic. Try it out and see how it goes. It works for some people."

Esomeprazole for GERD "I only got prescribed Nexium yesterday due to intense chest pressure/heartburn caused by the bacteria H. pylori. I took 2 doses at the hospital, one when I got home and one when I woke up as instructed by the doctor. The side effects are scary. I can’t get out of bed. I have zero energy. I keep throwing up. I have insane chills, I am either freezing or hot. And the worst of them all…ANXIETY. I can’t even catch my breath. This is the worst I’ve almost ever felt. I called the doctor, and he said it’s possible that the pill is doing this and to take Omerpradex instead. I hope this feeling will go away fast because I have never felt so ill before!!!"

Esomeprazole for GERD "I was prescribed this for a possible stomach ulcer and GERD. Within 30 minutes of taking this, I had sharp chest pains when inhaling. The ER doctor said it was a panic attack - it wasn’t, not my usual panic attack symptoms. My doctor told me I was her second patient to experience that with the drug. Never took it again. Was then prescribed Zantac without issues, but it is being recalled now. Not sure what else to take besides Tums."

For GERD "I started taking this drug for what I think is GERD, as I could not get a doctor's appointment to get my prescription for omeprazole. After 3 days, I decided never again would I take the drug. Terrible constipation, stomach pain, chest pain, headaches, and feeling tired all the time. Morale of the story, wait to get an appointment..."

For Gastritis/Duodenitis "Like anyone experiencing these symptoms would think they were having a heart attack or something, and so I did. I went straight to the ER and my ECG was totally normal. I did a battery of tests, including echocardiogram, ergometric test, Holter monitor, and none of them found anything. Clinically, I am healthy, without any heart problems. I suspected it was the medication two weeks ago when, on the days that I had to have blood drawn for the exams and had to fast, ironically I didn't feel any of the main symptoms, which would be extreme dizziness, extreme tiredness, and pain in the stomach, chest/arm/shoulder that decreased. Discovering this, I started looking for reviews about the drug and found this forum which confirmed my suspicions. 2nd part"

For Gastritis/Duodenitis "Was prescribed for acid reflux/indigestion. Originally tried Prilosec and Pepcid Complete, which made me feel slightly better, however, not enough. After a day of taking it, almost all my symptoms were gone, except for a slight tightness in the chest from the acid reflux. My suggestion for anybody taking this, where their symptoms are pretty severe, is to take it once in the morning and then eat breakfast an hour after, and during lunch and dinner (or eating something that was red meat or spicy or acidic). I would take a Pepcid Complete also (which can be taken twice a day), and then if necessary, then take another esomeprazole at night before bed, but in my experience, that was never necessary. There is also an 80 mg dose if symptoms don’t improve. The only thing worth mentioning is that it can make any other medication you're taking last a bit longer because esomeprazole makes it take longer to digest."

For GERD "I have had a hiatus hernia for many years, but it hasn't caused that many problems until about two years ago. The doc prescribed me everything under the sun, including Omi, Panto, Lanso, and Esomeprazole. By far, the worst of these was Esomeprazole, I experienced all of the bad stuff that people have given reviews about. I stopped taking Esom for a while, but the heartburn kept coming back, so I went back on it yesterday. Big mistake! After two hours, I had delusions, lower right side back pain, bloating, shakes, headache, chest pain, diarrhea, dizziness, I felt like a heart attack was going to happen (anxiety). Believe me when I say this medicine is an absolute nightmare! It may be alright for a few people to cure their acid reflux, but you get a whole new set of problems with it, which is far worse. A lot of people are on this for more than 14 days via docs' prescriptions, that's like a death sentence! It is still being sold as a wonder drug online and in chemists and supermarkets as well! Steer clear!"

For GERD "Never again! It takes only one pill for me, and I am ending up with terrible chest pain, labored breathing, rashes, panic attacks, and fluish. Accompanied with burning toes and hands."

Esomeprazole for GERD "I have used Nexium on and off for several years. I didn't put 2 and 2 together until yesterday. My reaction to this drug has been horrific. Chest pain, anxiety, numb swollen tongue, arm and leg bone pain, bloating. I need to find a better solution because this drug is dangerous for me."
