For Major Depressive Disorder "I have had treatment-resistant depression for 31 years. My doctor suggested Spravato. I had thought about suicide many times but never had a plan. Now, I was scared. Even though I started Spravato, I made a plan to kill myself. I didn't want to live anymore. I continued with the treatments faithfully. 84 mg for 16 total treatments. Around the 10th treatment, the thought of killing myself lessened more and more. Spravato saved my life. I don’t know how, but it did. There is hope. The suicidal thoughts have lessened. Now I am coming out of my isolation, negative thoughts, pessimism, and everything that depression brings with it. For those of you suffering from treatment-resistant depression, please ask your doctor about Spravato. If it helped me, it can help you. There is help."

For Major Depressive Disorder "11 weeks in and I am happy, thinking positively, seeing life brighter! I’m driving, being social, etc. Been struggling for 25 years. Started feeling good at about 6 weeks but even better now. Just so you know, every time you have a treatment, the experience is different. So if for some reason something is unpleasant, it doesn’t mean it always will be. Try to relax, bring water, hard candy, or cough drops for the short time the taste is bad in your throat, and I recommend headphones with music you like. You should be able to bring a pillow and small throw to cover up with. All this can make you more comfortable. I’ve never gotten sick or had any bad effects afterward. Spravato is helping me to be myself prior to my depression."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I'm currently in week 11 of treatment with esketamine 56 mg once a week. I feel that it started to work around weeks 6-8. Less suicidal ideation, more energy, improved mood, etc. I have had some minor bladder problems, such as an urgent need to urinate. However, the benefits far outweigh the side effects. I'm hoping to start on 84 mg soon. Diagnosed with MDD, PTSD, and GAD."

For Depression "I have taken over 35 psychiatric medications over the past 30 plus years and have tried non-medicinal options as well. I have had electroconvulsive therapy, hypnotherapy, acupuncture, and more. I have been labeled treatment resistant and usually only felt a kind of 'dulling' when I took antidepressants. Yes, some negative emotions would abate a tad, but good emotions would also be numbed. With Spravato, the difference between traditional antidepressants is night and day. Instead of dulling emotions, they are enhanced. Ordinarily, this would be difficult for me, as emotions generally overwhelmed me. In the case of Spravato, I find myself able to not only handle but to enjoy my emotions. As somebody who has never had psychiatric medications offer much help EVER, this is like a miracle. It is the first antidepressant I have ever taken that I would call effective."

For Major Depressive Disorder "September 24, 2020, started Spravato after dealing with self-hate, suicidal thoughts, depression, and rage for over 35 years. Being admitted to a mental facility and being prescribed several different medications which worsened the idea of suicide, I felt this was the last option. I am taking 3 sprays per month, and it has helped me a great deal. I take a Zofran shot before treatment and also take 2 Phenergan when I wake up the morning of the treatment to help with nausea, however, I still vomit during the session. I have tried an empty stomach, and that doesn't help either. I am very sensitive to smells now as well. The smell of the doctor's office now makes me sick to my stomach. Other than the side effects, I do think it is a good drug for me. I do seem to lose my train of thought, and if speaking, sometimes I cannot complete sentences and cannot think of words. I am a bit skeptical of the long-term affect of using this drug."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I started using ketamine in November of 2021. I had my doubts that it would work because I have tried so many other medications throughout the years, and I suffer from major depressive disorder. After the first 3 weeks at two treatments per week, I started feeling better. Currently, I have been taking my second round of Spravato. My suicidal thoughts are gone, my depressive state is incredibly unreal. No depression, no anxiety, and I just can't believe this drug works as well as it does. If you suffer from depression, anxiety, and it also helped my chronic pain from nerve damage, my advice to you is to try Spravato. It's amazing! I have never, ever felt as mentally good as I do now with the help of Spravato. It's a game changer."

For Depression "Well, I've skimmed the comments here so far. As expected, Spravato has a varied effect on various people. I have my first treatment tomorrow. I've managed major depression officially since the mid-90s and probably before. I've been prescribed almost every antidepressant and combination available. I've also had ECT, inpatient treatment, partial hospitalization, weekly therapy sessions, etc. Spravato seems like a logical next step to try now, as it's been FDA approved for 2 years now. I'll try to remember to update here as my regimen progresses."

For Depression "I started taking Spravato in September 2019. I was hoping it would help with depression, bipolar, and PTSD. I completely changed into another person. I went into major psychosis and ended up in the psych ward five times from the end of December to mid-February. It was horrific and terrifying. I have lingering psychosis, and it’s been two years. I scared the shot out of my family, and there isn’t a day that goes by that it doesn’t scare me that this feeling will never go away. I also had gotten the flu really bad when I was hospitalized and had delusions I could write a book about. I would say not to take it, but everyone is different. Has anyone else had a scary reaction that has lasted two years? Has anyone else gone into major psychosis? (I felt I was gone a million years and saw Jesus and God and aliens, I also believed the world was gone and everyone was dead.)"

For Depression "This drug has been nothing short of a miracle for me. My biggest fear is that I go back to being depressed again! I really enjoyed the ‘high’ I get. I listen to music. I suggest jazz with no vocals. Lay back, close your eyes, and RELAX! It messes with your sense of time for me. When they come in at 40 minutes to do your BP, sometimes I feel it’s only been 5 mins. I’m mad because they interrupt my mind vacation! Once they take your BP, you can’t go back to the ‘high’. I know it’s working because I have had very stressful things happen in the last month. Before Spravato, I would be freaking out!!! I would be arguing with everyone, cussing out customer service people. But I was able to maintain my composure and work through the issues. If you have some drain back, I have never tasted something as awful! So ask for some water before you administer it. And that is the only bad thing I can say about it. I hope that it works for you as well as it has worked for me!"

For Depression "So I posted that I had Spravato at the 56mg for 3 sessions but felt the same. So I am at treatment number 6 at 84mg, and I am finally noticing a difference. I used to be an avid runner and stopped and pretty much rotted on my couch since January. Well last week, I began running again and feel a bit of the depression lifting. I do not in any ways feel cured, but I do feel a little better. I am hoping with the few more sessions I will keep on improving. What I am nervous about is the efficacy of this because to have to go once a week is very expensive... good luck to everyone there is hope!!!!!"

For Depression "I felt okay the first 2 times on a lower dose. I felt like I would not want a higher dose. I felt a bit out of it and anxious, but not terribly so. On the third visit, I was encouraged to take the next higher dose. I was assured by staff they would be able to help and support if anything was too much. Well, after 3 or 4 minutes following the final spray, I felt an incredible intensity of pure, deathly fear rising higher and higher. I tried to listen to meditation and do some breathing techniques. NOTHING made me feel better. I just kept feeling worse. I could not remember who I was or how to move my body and felt like I had severe dementia for a while. I forgot my life and what my phone was, and I was afraid I would never come back to who I was. Then I just felt like I would die. My heart felt like it would explode. I literally felt I needed medical help. The staff person stayed for a little while, then left me. Even when I told them I needed help and clearly was in distress... Never again."

For Depression "I'm finding repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) more effective, but I'm continuing to use both together. If you want to skip the rubbish, go for straight ketamine. That stuff is amazing. It's going to cost you $$. I've used ketamine once prior to Spravato, and that was the best I've felt in 45 years."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I've had 3 sessions now, 2 sessions with 2 doses and 3rd session with 3 doses. After each time, I go home and crawl into bed for the rest of the day. The following day, I'm in a major depression funk. I've asked my doc administering and my psychiatrist, and they say keep going. I'm going to give it 1 more try, but will not continue if a major depression spell occurs the day after again."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I've had nothing but a positive experience with Spravato. The key to getting the most effective treatment is to just relax and avoid any distractions, such as your cell phone. Close your eyes, lay back, and let the drug do its work. Then you will get the best experience. If you are distracted, it will not work as well as it can. I've been on Spravato for 6 years, and I can't say enough good things about it. It gives me a sense of normalcy if only for a while. Just relax and let it do its magic."

"I have tried to manage mood/depression issues since my early teens. Every antidepressant had no effect. I experience an out-of-body experience during the Spravato treatments. I’m able to work through past traumas in a safe way. The despair, PTSD, hopelessness, and self-loathing remain on the table, while that part of my life force or my spirit rises above and allows healing to take place. I had given up on ever feeling well again. This drug is saving my life."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I've been on Spravato for 6 months and it got me through a period I'm not sure I could have endured otherwise. I highly recommend it. I started EMDR therapy last month, and EMDR + Spravato has been so incredible. It's like I started all over again. Definitely recommend, but I super recommend it with EMDR if you can swing it. They're like two sides of the same coin. My brain is quiet some days, and that feels like a miracle."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I've been taking Spravato now for approximately 16 months. I have MDD and panic disorder, all starting about 7 years after being diagnosed with chronic pain from spinal stenosis, and two failed lumbar fusions. I had been on traditional SSRI therapy for almost 20 years without much improvement. The depression actually started exacerbating, as well as the panic attacks. I started on Spravato in 2024 with the lowest dose (56 mg) bi-weekly, then quickly moved up to the highest dose (84 mg) once a week. I am currently transitioning to once every other week. When first starting off with the treatments, I had a lot of issues with anxiety/panic from the drug's known side effect of rapid heart rate. I thought maybe that this was not the drug treatment for me. I was put on a low-dose beta blocker, which has worked wonders. To tackle the nausea, I was instructed to buy ginger soft chews. This took care of the nausea. The depression is now finally in remission."

For Depression "I had my first experience with Spravato yesterday, and the side effects were just awful. Felt extremely drunk-dissociation, severe nausea and sweating, dizziness, tiredness. Could barely make it home (I got a ride) and get myself into bed to lie there for the rest of the night. The next morning-extremely tired, nauseous. Felt hungover. No effect on my TRD (treatment-resistant depression) after 1 treatment. I will continue as long as I can stand it because I am pretty much out of options. But I am dreading it more than I did with ECT."

For Major Depressive Disorder "Been on Spravato for over a year. Still have been on a regimen of 84 mg twice a week. It has not given me really any adverse effects, light equilibrium issues when on it. When I first started, it was very helpful, but weaning down to anything less than twice a week hasn't been able to work for me. It's helpful for a few days and goes away, wouldn't call it a miracle drug. But it's very helpful compared to the countless other medications I've been on. Definitely bring some Listerine patches or strong mints to help with the nausea/bad taste. Have MDD, PTSD, and anxiety disorder. Spravato is an effective medication, but with the caveat that weaning down really makes the depression kick in. Advice: make a nice playlist of music and try to relax."

For Major Depressive Disorder "Spravato is like the Great Value version of the IV ketamine. I completed the induction period after being on ket for a year. By the end of the induction period, I was suicidal 95% of the time, my BP rose from 100-120/60-80 to 160/100. I received no relief whatsoever from this drug. I’m going back to IV ket, which dramatically helped my depression, severe anxiety, chronic pain, inflammatory numbers, and migraines, and paying $150-500 a session … but that’s how much better ket is."

For Major Depressive Disorder "For years (actually) decades, I’ve fought the beast… have tried it all and still fighting. I finally agreed to try Spravato. I thought it would be like a chemical ECT. I hesitate to say this and jinx the results, which have been stunning. I’m only in my third week of treatment, but the impact has been dramatic. Where I could barely get out of bed in the morning, I’m now up and moving. No negative side effects. No apparent issues with other meds I take. I only hope this impact will be long-lasting…"

For Depression "I have bipolar, untreatable depression, BPD. I have done esketamine as both IV and Spravato. Spravato is a waste of time and money. After going through the initial 8-week transition, I was in for Spravato almost every other week, where I was in for IV once a month to as long as every 6 weeks. The side effects were horrible: headache, exhaustion for a day or two, and not knowing where I was. This drug was barely vetted by the FDA, with only 80 test subjects in their group. IV ketamine has years of use and they know it works, but because there is zero money to be made, they will never approve it, so our insurance will pay for it."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I have struggled with TRD most of my life. I did not respond well to other medications or therapies. My first treatment with Spravato at 56 was amazing. My second at 84 mg was intense, unpleasant, and also very beneficial in helping me address an issue. During treatment, my service dog died, and the grief was overwhelming. I went in crying and came out better able to cope. This is a game changer for me. The dissociative aspects help me to get out of my own way and address issues. I’m going to continue taking this weekly because each time it feels I’m dropping some sad, heavy weights and leaving them behind."

For Depression "After trying an absurd amount of antidepressants and various meds and finding no improvement, Spravato changed my life. I won't begin to lie, saying the experience is easy. No, especially the first two or three times, you will get blasted into the damn moon. Very, very intense. Shortly after beginning this treatment and continuing for a few weeks, the improvements were amazing. My family and friends could see how much better I was doing, and I could even notice the improvements in myself (which is often really hard to find). I really encourage anyone else with treatment-resistant depression to try Spravato."

For Depression "On Spravato, I felt like I was going to die. It took 4 minutes to kick in. I couldn’t feel my face, couldn’t speak, couldn’t breathe, the room was spinning, music felt far away even though I had headphones in. I heard the ocean. I was sweating, felt like I was sinking, mind racing, nauseous. I felt like I was strapped to a Ferris wheel that wouldn’t stop spinning or falling really fast. I was crying and sweating, 22 minutes in I had a ringing in my ear. It gave me a headache. I couldn’t hear my music anymore, that scared me. I couldn’t move. I was crying for my mom. It was really scary. I don’t feel 100% back to normal today (appointment was yesterday). I feel lethargic, spacey, with no appetite. I feel sad and disappointed that this didn’t work. This was literally the last thing to try treatment-wise. I have to go back to doing TMS every day. Please don’t try this unless it’s your last resort."
