For Birth Control "I have been on Nikki for a year now. This is my first experience with birth control, and unfortunately, I did not know enough to recognize that this pill is the cause of my symptoms. The worst being that I have been incredibly fatigued and exhausted, no matter how easy I take things or how much sleep I get. I have had difficulty focusing, excessive teeth grinding, mood swings, irritation, very low sex drive, constant headaches, emotional distress, crying, and mild depression. I have been to two doctors who can't find anything wrong with me, and I have had multiple blood draws, with no conclusion. This morning, it occurred to me to research my birth control. I can't believe that I have gone an entire year with these symptoms and not figured it out. I am an incredibly healthy woman. I have a great relationship with my body, and I know when something is off. I feel so terrible that I have put my body through this for so long. I will be discontinuing this BC immediately."

For Birth Control "This pill is terrible! I was originally on Gianvi, then CVS switched me to Loryna. Both of those were wonderful. This month, CVS gave me Nikki. I’ve been on it a week and a half, and I am an angry, anxious mess. I’m noticing that my appetite is increasing, I am extremely tired, my body is sore (I haven’t started a new fitness program or anything like that), and I am uncontrollably mean to everyone. I switched pharmacies and got my beloved Loryna back. If you have any issues with anxiety, minor or not, do not take this pill!"

For Birth Control "My anxiety level has risen drastically in the past few days of taking Nikki. I was on Loryna, which was fine, but the pharmacy gave me Nikki instead recently. It's the only thing that's changed in my life in the past few days, and I'm positive I can attribute my increased anxiety to this pill. It's so bad that I've decided to stop taking it. I've never had to do this with a birth control."

For Birth Control "I've been on Loryna for years, and I fell in love with how well I adjusted with no side effects. THEN CVS switches me to Nikki and promised it was the same exact medicine (yeah right), and that I should have no issues. But what they don't tell you is that the inactive ingredients can fluctuate from brand to brand and have horrid interactions with your body, and let me tell you, Nikki is the pits! The first week I couldn't stop crying, three months in, I'm STILL CRYING! I have broken out in hives, struggle with severe headaches, and constantly endure tender, painful breasts. The straw that broke the camel's back for me was the recent two weeks of nonstop bleeding I experienced while not even being scheduled to start my cycle. This was it! I was done. I switched my pharmacy to Walgreens, and I am back on Loryna, and within four hours of taking the first Loryna pill, my bleeding stopped. I wouldn't give this BC (Nikki) to my worst enemy."

For Birth Control "I was taking Gianvi for five years, maybe longer. My pharmacy switched me to Nikki about four months ago, and I have noticed a major change with my body ever since. I have started cramping and spotting two weeks before I am supposed to start. I've also noticed more acne and some major mood swings. I'm glad to see that others are having the same problem as me. Once my current pack is finished, I will be finding another pharmacy that sells Gianvi and switch back to it."

For Birth Control "I wanted to start a birth control before I got married, so I have been on Nikki for about 4 months now. I feel like a zombie. My mood swings are so bad, and I get extremely irritated over nothing. I start fights with my fiancé for no reason, and I have zero sex drive. I struggle being in social situations because I feel like I’m just going through the motions. I get married in 3 months, and I don’t even feel excited, I don’t feel emotion about anything. It has made me feel like a completely different person, so I’m quitting hormonal birth control entirely. I know people have had good experiences with this birth control, and that’s wonderful, but it just isn’t worth the depression it has caused me."

For Birth Control "I’m not sure why there are such bad reviews on this. This is my first time using this product, and so far I haven’t gained any weight. If anything, my appetite has changed in ways that I’m not as hungry as I usually am. I had headaches the first few days, but I’m assuming my body just was not used to it. Don’t have any mood changes and sleep fine. My skin has cleared up quickly."

For Acne "I was on Gianvi for years, and my skin was like glass. I was thin, no mental issues, etc., and had no problems until my pharmacy randomly switched me to Nikki. I've since gained 10 pounds on my 5'5" frame. None of my pants fit. My super thick hair has been falling out like crazy. My cystic acne is back. My mood swings are back. My cramps are back, and my periods are heavy. What is this pill? Stay away!"

For Birth Control "I’m just trying to inform girls that may be looking to take this birth control. Pros: did help me with my acne, did help with period pains, didn’t gain any weight, was cheap. HOWEVER, there were many bad things about this BCP. My periods weren’t very regulated, my libido was almost 0, the side effects just went on and on. The worst was erratic and depressed moods, which I knew was an issue when I wouldn’t even get up out of bed. My coworker even told me she immediately had to get off it for the same reason. I thought maybe it was just me, but after she told me I knew it wasn't a coincidence. I was reluctant to get off of it because there are some good things about it, but it became too much. Yes, it is different for everyone, but if I could go back and find a better one, I would."

"I read these reviews after getting Nikki, and they’re terrifying. I asked for Yaz and received this one, and I’m on day 4 with none of the issues everyone has mentioned so far. I haven’t been on birth control in 8-10 years, so I’m starting fresh. My reasoning is to control my heavy flow, bloating, and PMS. I’ve never had acne, so the only thing I’m worried about is potentially having severe mood swings. I will come back in a month or so with more findings."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "This Nikki contraceptive pill is horrible! I had been taking Gianvi or Loryna for years, and suddenly my pharmacy gave me this stuff instead. I have been tired, moody, cramping, and bleeding since I started this stuff 2 weeks ago! Unfortunately, my insurance will only authorize refills from their online pharmacy, and this is all they claim they have right now. Stay away from this stuff if at all possible."

For Birth Control "Nikki helped with my acne and was great birth control but had some minor side effects for me. I noticed my crying threshold was much lower (crying at a sad story, movies, etc.). I'm usually not an emotional girl. I also was blushing very easily, almost like 'hot flashes' when I ate something spicy, got hot, or was nervous (very embarrassing when meeting new people). The blushing started to bug me, and since I'm going on interviews soon, I ended up switching pills. I didn't have any weight gain, and it cleared up my hormonal cystic acne in 2-3 months, which has given me a lot of confidence back. I would continue to take it if I wasn't in a big life transition right now, I can't risk blushing on big interviews!"

For Birth Control "I first started this pill 6 months ago. It cleared up my acne very quickly. However, continuing the pill, I became very moody and anxious about everything. I have also experienced some weight gain and major cravings, and while I am very active, I found it hard to resist cravings and work out more. I have become very tired, pissed off, and unmotivated. I am in high school, and there is no reason for me to feel any of these symptoms, but it has messed with my hormones terribly. Before BC, I would have up to 5-day-long light periods. Now, I bleed up to a week and a half, heavier than before also. I do not recommend; the only positive factor is clear skin (and not getting pregnant, I guess)."

For Birth Control "This is the first birth control I've tried, and I am a fan of it! However, for the first day or two days of taking it, I was in a terrible and irritable mood. Luckily, since then, I have been completely normal. Additionally, some of my acne has cleared up. I have not noticed any weight gain or loss, change in appetite, headaches, etc. I'm very happy with this med and will continue to use it!"

For Birth Control "I started this in February and have noticed so much change in myself. I've gained my weight back that I worked so hard from high school to having my kid getting it off, now it's back. Then finally got boob size to go down, now that's back and tender from taking these again."

For Acne "CVS changed me to this in August, and ever since, I've been gaining weight rapidly with no change to my lifestyle or daily routine. I'm at the highest weight I've ever been in my life. As a former athlete who still remains pretty active, it's been incredibly frustrating for me. I switched to Walgreens so I could get my Loryna back - a drug that caused me basically no side effects."

For Birth Control "I started taking this pill almost three months ago, and I would say it’s been great other than a few side effects. The first month, I was extremely emotional, and I cried all the time about little things that never would make me cry before. I get headaches more frequently, and I get breast tenderness two weeks before my placebo pills start, which is annoying. I also feel like this pill has made me more exhausted and sore. Other than those little side effects, it’s done its job, my skin looks fabulous, and I haven’t gained any weight on it."

For Acne "I have been taking Loryna for a couple of years now and recently had to switch to Nikki because CVS had stopped selling Loryna. Within a week of taking Nikki, I had noticed that I was getting more acne than usual. Second week into Nikki, my whole face was covered in cystic acne that made me want to stay inside all day. I had migraines that hurt so badly I threw up and almost passed out. Not only that, but I felt like I could cry at any given moment, and I was so tired for no reason. I quickly realized Nikki was the cause and found another pharmacy that carries Loryna, and I can't wait to feel better again. Nikki has been the worst experience with any birth control I've ever taken, it was almost as if I stopped taking birth control altogether. DO NOT TAKE NIKKI!"

For Acne "My daughter received Nikki as a generic substitute from the mail-order pharmacy. She immediately broke out in hives, and her acne was much worse. She did not immediately attribute the hives to the BC and went to the doctor for some steroid medication. As soon as the steroid medication was finished, she was itchy all over again. I finally found on the Nikki website that this is a lesser-occurring side effect, and she stopped taking it. Watch carefully for side effects when you start taking any new medication!"

For Acne "Before Nikki, I was taking the name brand Yaz pill for a year. On Yaz, my face was so clear and amazingly smooth. In the 3 months I’ve been taking Nikki, my face is broken out all over and makes me so upset and not even want to leave the house. I struggled with acne years ago and took Accutane, which healed me, but Nikki brought all my acne back. Do not take this pill."

For Birth Control "I’ve been using this birth control for over a year and a half, and I literally love it! It works so well for regulating my period and clearing my acne. I literally used to have pizza face acne and on my back, and I gave it about 2 months, and it just all went away. My skin is so clear now, every now and then I’ll get a bump, but it’s not bad. Also, I used to have 7-10 day periods, and it regulated my period to 4-6 days, and my cramps really aren’t bad. I have a bad period maybe once every 5 months, and it’s just bad cramps. I love this birth control, and I totally recommend it."

For Birth Control "I've been on this birth control for over 6 months. My doctor prescribed this to me, and I looked up the reviews and was terrified. But, everyone is different, so I started taking it anyway, and I am so glad I took the risk! I have no side effects on this birth control - if anything, it got my emotions more under control than they were before. I'm a lot happier on it than I was off of it! I get a consistent period, so I don't ever think I might possibly be pregnant. It does its job by preventing pregnancy, and I'm still sane, and that is all I was hoping for."

For Birth Control "I've been on this birth control, Nikki, for only about 2 weeks. I can already tell the difference in my mood. I'm more irritable now and less of my happy self. I can't even tell when I had my period because I have had heavy bleeding since I started this medication. I am going to finish the pack, but after that, I'm done with this medication. I can't keep buying pads for this heavy bleeding. It's definitely not worth it to me."

For Birth Control "I had the worst experience with this birth control. I have been taking Gianvi for years, which is another generic form of Yaz. I had to switch pharmacies and my new pharmacy doesn't carry Gianvi, so they gave me Nikki instead. I took one pill, and within 12 hours I saw all the side effects. I woke up, and my heart was racing, I was sweating, and I had severe nausea. I would rather pay extra for the name brand Yaz than ever take this again."

For Birth Control "I used this very successfully a few years ago to control PMDD symptoms; I tried taking it again a few months ago and had a much different experience. I'm 32, and previous use was 25-27 years old, if that matters. I haven't had kids but do have some childhood trauma. The first time I took it was okay-second time... OH MY GOD, THE MENTAL HEALTH PROBLEMS. Incredibly anxious, paranoid, depressed, suicidal. I had what felt like several mental breakdowns where I couldn't stop hitting myself, crying, shaking, etc. THIS IS NOT NORMAL BEHAVIOR FOR ME. It almost destroyed my relationship. Everything triggered anxiety and paranoia. Everything. It was a dark pit that I never wanted to go back to. I stopped taking it after 2 months (I figured I just wasn't 'used to it'), but the change in my personality was so obvious my partner noticed immediately that I was no longer taking it. The symptoms I had on Nikki were worse than the PMDD symptoms I used to have. PLEASE BE CAUTIOUS and track your mood if taking this."
