For Acne "I’m on week two of Nikki. I switched from Sprintec(used for about 7 years) which I had no problems with and had spot on periods that always came on the same day, around the same hour, and lasted 3 days. I switched to Nikki for acne reasons. These past two weeks I have been an emotional MESS. I think I’ve cried every single day. I feel hopeless, anxious, angry and sad about everything. I almost called my doc to put me back on Prozac because I didn’t know what was going on with me. I got a lot of answers coming to this thread though. I’m going to try and give this a month or two to see if those feelings subside at all, but if it stays how it is now I will be switching back to Sprintec. I would rate it more than 1/10 if I was on it long enough to see if it helped with acne or the mood swings stopped, but for now it’s a solid 1/10."

For Birth Control "I have been on Nikki for a year now. This is my first experience with birth control and unfortunately did not know enough to recognize that this pill is the cause of my symptoms. The worst being that I have been incredibly fatigued and exhausted no matter how easy I take things, or how much sleep I get. I have had difficulty focusing, excessive teeth grinding, mood swings, irritation, very low sex drive, constant headaches, emotional distress, crying, and mild depression. I have been to two doctors who can't find anything wrong with me, and I have had multiple blood draws, with no conclusion. This morning it occured to me to research my birth control. I can't believe that I have gone an entire year with these symptoms and not figured it out. I am an incredibly healthy woman. I have a great relationship with my body, and I know when something is off. I feel so terrible that I have put my body through this for so long. I will be discontinuing this BC immediately."

For Acne "I have been taking Loryna for a couple of years now and recently had to switch to Nikki because CVS had stopped selling Loryna. Within a week of taking Nikki I had noticed that I was getting more acne than usual. Second week into Nikki, my whole face was covered in cystic acne that made me want to stay inside all day. I had migraines that hurt so bad I threw up and almost passed out. Not only that, but I felt like I could cry at any given moment and I was so tired for no reason. I quickly realized Nikki was the cause and found another pharmacy that carries Loryna and I can't wait to feel better again. Nikki has been the worst experience with any birth control I've ever taken, it was almost as if I stopped taking birth control all together. DO NOT TAKE NIKKI!"

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "This birth control at first decreased my appetite by a large comparison to previously used Junel 1/20. I tried this brand for the acne part, since I've seen dermatologists since I was 15 and nothing worked. Now almost 3 months into this brand, nothing has been done to clear my face, I sleep for entire days and am overcome with extreme tiredness. I get severe nausea and throw up at least 3 times a week, and I don't eat as much as I used to. I lost near 10 pounds in 2 months. A good thing was it stopped my painful period cramps and I haven't got a since period since taking the pill. A very slight increase in boob size, but still very tender breasts."

For Birth Control "I've been on Loryna for years, and I fell in love with how well I adjusted with no side effects, THEN CVS switches me to Nikki & promised it was the same exact medicine (yea right), & that I should have no issues. But what they don't tell you is that the inactive ingredients can fluctuate from brand to brand and have horrid interactions with your body, and let me tell you Nikki is the pits!! The first week I couldn't stop crying, 3 months in IM STILL CRYING! I have broken out in hives, struggle with severe headaches, & constantly endure tender painful breast. The straw that broke the camel's back for me was the recent 2 weeks of nonstop bleeding I experienced while not even being scheduled to start my cycle. This was it! I was done. I switch my pharmacy to Walgreens and I am back on Loryna and within 4 hours of taking the first Loryna pill my bleeding stopped. I wouldn't give this BC (Nikki) to my worst enemy."

For Birth Control "I was taking Gianvi for five years, maybe longer. My pharmacy switched me to Nikki about four months ago and I have noticed a major change with my body ever since. I have started cramping and spotting two weeks before I am supposed to start. I've also noticed more acne and some major mood swings. I'm glad to see that others are having the same problem as me. Once my current pack is finished, I will be finding another pharmacy that sells Gianvi and switch back to it."

For Birth Control "This is the first birth control I've tried and I am a fan of it! However, for the first day or two days of taking it, I was in a terrible and irritable mood. Luckily, since then, I have been completely normal. Additionally, some of my acne has cleared up. I have not noticed any weight gain or loss, change in appetite, headaches, etc. I'm very happy with this med and will continue to use it!"

For Birth Control "I’m not sure why there are such bad reviews on this. This is my first time using this product and so far I haven’t gained any weight, if anything my appetite has changed in ways that I’m not as hungry as I usually am. I had headaches the first few days but I’m assuming my body just was not used to it. Don’t have any mood changes and sleep fine. My skin has cleared up quickly"

For Birth Control "I have been on Nikki for over a year and I am excited to be going off of it at the end of this month. I have gained 20+ pounds and have had no luck losing weight with diet and exercise. I live a very healthy lifestyle, the weight gain does not make sense to me. I have also had severe issues with libido. So low, almost non-existent. This is not natural for me. I often feel bloated, even when I change my diet to reduce inflammation. I do have healthy skin and hair, but I also don't know if there's a connection with Nikki or not."

For Birth Control "I started this in February and have noticed so much change in myself. I've gain my weight back that I worked so hard from high school to having my kid getting it off now it's back. Then finally got boob sized to go down now that's back and tender from taking these again."

For Birth Control "Nikki helped with my acne and was great birth control but had some minor side effects for me. I noticed my crying threshold was much lower (crying at a sad story, movies etc.) I'm usually not an emotional girl. I also was blushing very easily almost like "hot flashes" when I ate something spicy, got hot or was nervous (very embarrassing when meeting new people). The blushing started to bug me and since I'm going on interviews soon I ended up switching pills. I didn't have any weight gain and it cleared up my hormonal cystic acne in 2-3 months which has given me a lot of confidence back. I would continue to take if I wasn't in a big life transition right now I can't risk blushing on big interviews!"

For Birth Control "I took Nikki for 2 years between 2017-2019. I bled randomly during sex all the time and I was always on the verge of crying but Nikki helped me lose weight and made my periods less heavy (I use to have to wear an adult diaper during my periods cause it was so heavy). I stopped using it at the beginning of 2020 and my psoriasis came back with a fury, and my periods were so random (sometimes heavy, sometimes light, sometimes only lasted one day). I started taking generic yaz which was ok but my psoriasis wasn’t going away. Now I have been taking Nikki again (it’s April 2023) for a little over a month and my acne is going away, my psoriasis has subsided, and no weight loss or weight gain has occurred. However I have random cramping all the time, and again every little thing makes me cry. I take the bad with the good with this medication. It might work for you it might not. DO NOT TAKE THIS WITH WELLBUTRIN. I went crazy when I took both."

For Birth Control "I read the reviews on Nikki before I started it- saw the negative comments but stayed optimistic that it might work for me. After about a week on it, my acne became pretty bad and I noticed that I was having pretty significant hair shedding, which was awful since I already have very fine hair. Also, this may just be coincidence, but I also noticed extreme fatigue and depression at the same time while on this medication."

For Birth Control "Nikki was the worst experience of my life. I was reluctant to go back on a birth control as my experience in the past has been negative. I took Nikki for 13 days. On day 9, I had severe heartburn that turned into vomiting, cold sweats, feeling full when I had nothing in my stomach for almost 24 hours. The next day I was weak, depressed and had a raging headache. Initially I thought I’d gotten food poisoning but the symptoms persisted. I am nauseous all the time, headaches throughout the day and completely exhausted. I would have one or two bites of light meals and immediately feel sick. Not only that, but my anxiety is through the roof. I’m not normally a very anxious person but this medication is making me paranoid, mean, and sad. Don’t let you doctor prescribe it. Find something better."

For Acne "Before Nikki, I was taking the name brand Yaz pill for a year. On yaz, my face was so clear and amazingly smooth. In the 3 months I’ve been taking Nikki, my face is broke out all over and makes me so upset and not even want to leave the house. I struggled with acne years ago and took Accutane which healed me but Nikki brought all my acne back. Do not take this pill."

For Birth Control "I started taking this pill almost three months ago and I would say it’s been great other than a few side effects. The first month I was extremely emotional and I cried all the time about little things that never would make me cry before. I get headaches more frequently and I get breast tenderness two weeks before my placebo pills start which is annoying. I also feel like this pill has made me more exhausted and sore. Other than those little side effects it’s done it’s job, my skin look fabulous, and I haven’t gained any weight on it."

For Birth Control "This pill is terrible! I was originally on Gianvi, then CVS switched me to Loryna. Both of those were wonderful. This month CVS gave me Nikki. I’ve been on it a week and a half, and I am an angry, anxious mess. I’m noticing that my appetite is increasing, I am extremely tired, my body is sore, (I haven’t started a new fitness program or anything like that) and I am uncontrollably mean to everyone. I switched pharmacies and got my beloved Loryna back. If you have any issues with anxiety, minor or not, do not take this pill!"

For Birth Control "So I am on week 2 of taking the Nikki birth control and the pros are great no acne, see improvement, no nausea, no insane mood swings, no anger maybe one super sensitive day but that was it. My weight is great I have noticed some bloatedness but goes away when I workout so not a big deal so for the cons. If you suffer from gingivitis like I do and gum disease I am on week 2 of taking the meds and noticed my gums are swollen and super inflamed I now am flossing day and night and 4 times now after every meal you cannot skip at all! Or your gums just will get inflamed and swollen so idk if there is other birth controls that maybe won’t do the same thing but if not please let me know but ugh just other side effects I would have to worry about and this one I like because I’m not angry or moody or irritable.."

For Birth Control "I’ve been using this birth control for over a year & a half & I literally love it! It works so good for regulating my period & clearing my acne. I literally used to have pizza face acne & on my back, & I gave it about 2 months & it just all went away. My skin is so clear now, every now & then I’ll get a bump but it’s not bad. Also I used to have 7-10 day periods & it regulated my period to 4-6 days one & my cramps really aren’t bad. I have a bad period maybe once every 5 months & it’s just bad cramps. I love this birth control & I totally recommend it."

For Birth Control "I've been on this birth control for over 6 months. My doctor prescribed this to me, and I looked up the reviews and was terrified. But, everyone is different so I started taking it anyway and I am so glad I took the risk! I have no side effects on this birth control - if anything, it got my emotions more under control than they were before. I'm a lot happier on it than I was off of it! I get a consistent period, so I don't ever think I might possibly be pregnant. It does it's job by preventing pregnancy and I'm still sane and that is all I was hoping for."

For Birth Control "I had the WORST experience with this birth control. I have been taking Gianvi for years, which is another generic form of Yaz. I had to switch pharmacies and my new pharmacy doesn't carry Gianvi, so they gave me Nikki instead. I took one pill and within 12 hours I saw all the side effects. I woke up and my heart was racing, I was sweating, and I had severe nausea. I would rather pay extra for the name brand Yaz than ever take this again."

For Birth Control "Absolutely do NOT like this birth control Nikki. Was fine at first, but it slowly made me so anxious and so depressed I could barely function. It made me break out worse than I ever had before, and it made me so bloated all the time. Even when doing everything right I still couldn't lose weight. Would not recommend."

"I am 23 yrs old and as a first time BC user, Nikki has been better than I expected. I was skeptical because of all the bad reviews but it has turned out to be great! I’ve gotten nausea and occasional migraines but that’s just my body getting used to it but 3 weeks later, it’s been a lot better. No weight gain; because of the nausea it’s changed my eating so I’ve lost a few pounds. My skin is clearer and my period wasn’t as heavy as it was. Don't stop taking it after a few days, your body needs a month to get used to it, side effects are normal. So far, no major complaints. I would recommend!"

I’ve been using it for the last 2 months and since I’ve started using it, I’ve had frequent migraines, mood swings, acne, and weight gain. None of these occurred while taking Gianvi."
