For Birth Control "Let me just start by saying I was terrified to start this pill based on all the reviews. I was previously on 'Mylan' (generic Yaz at my pharmacy) then had to switch to a mail order due to corporate greed. I am happy to report that I have had absolutely no issues with this medicine. My acne is still under control, I don't (and didn't) have any nausea, no weight gain, nothing!! I take this at 8 pm religiously, and it works great. Be aware if you were not on birth control previously, I did have some initial side effects with the start of Mylan brand (bloat, heartburn, mild nausea) but that is expected when going on birth control for the first time. After the initial adjustment period (1 to 2 months), it was smooth sailing and then the switch to Nikki (my 3rd month), it was like I never changed birth control pills."

For Birth Control "Only 3 days in on Nikki and am having acne like I have never experienced in my life. My face has never been this bad. I have never had acne in my life, and my face looks like it blew up. I am exhausted. Multiple naps a day, exhausted. Can’t get out of bed, exhausted. I’m sure it works for multiple people, but I’m incredibly unhappy. At this rate, I won’t even need birth control, my face looks so bad, it’s its own birth control."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I've been taking Nikki for about 10 months now. When I started to take it, I was completely terrified from reading all the reviews, scared of depression, scared of blood clots/stroke, nervous about weight gain. This has been amazing for me though. My depression hasn't gotten worse, if anything, it's helped because I had pretty severe PMDD where I would only have one good week a month and then I'd be depressed/a bit suicidal, and would get very physically sick from hormones. I take it continuously, although I've had to take a break every 3 months or so and skip through the placebo pills or I start spotting and cramping. But even so, PMDD is gone, I don't get sick from PMS hormones anymore, and I haven't had any bad side effects or issues. Very worth it and I highly recommend."

For Birth Control "I was on this pill for over 6 months, and it was so strange. Birth control is tricky, you don't always know what are symptoms of the birth control or what are natural body occurrences, keep that in mind. However, while on this pill, the only symptom I could recall having was spotting nonstop. After the 4-month mark, it didn't stop. It wasn't that big of a deal, but I stopped having sex because of it and had to wear panty liners all day, every day. While I was on it, I went to a really dark place mentally-to the point where life was not worth it. I suffer from various mental illnesses, so I thought nothing of it until I went to the OBGYN to change my BC (because of the constant spotting), got off Nikki, and literally felt the weight lift off of my shoulders. I felt like an entirely different person. Glad I got off of it, not for me."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I suffered with severe menstrual cramps and symptoms that put me in the hospital 3 times now. I started Nikki to see if it would help. I have no problems with this birth control at all, and I’ve been on it for over a year now! I was switched to Loryna for a time because my pharmacy stopped carrying Nikki, and it was nothing but awfulness those couple of months before I was switched back. I have no side effects, the energy I need, and motivation to get up and about. I’ve read lots of bad reviews about this medication, but I’ve had nothing but excellent experiences with this medication! I do wish they would stop slowly removing it from my pharmacies. I’ve had to switch between 4 different pharmacies to find it..."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on this pill for about 2 months now, and my period has been going for 15 days and counting. It’s been a constant heavy flow with cramps out of this world! This medication is very concerning because I am overall a very happy person, but I have gotten severely depressed within the past month to the point where my mind is uncontrollable with bad thoughts. I do not recommend this product to anyone."

For Birth Control "I was super worried about starting this pill due to all of the negative feedback here, but it’s not bad at all. I used to be on Gianvi, but was put on Nikki due to insurance reasons, and my doctor assured me it should be the same exact experience. I’ve been on Nikki for 2 weeks and haven’t had any negative side effects, except for feeling nauseous a couple of times and feeling super hungry in the middle of the night a few times. No breakouts or weight gain."

For Birth Control "I have been taking this birth control for years now. About a year ago, I had to come off of it for a month or so. During that month, my moods drastically changed. I felt happier, had tons of energy, and I was less hungry. I thought for a second that this could be attributed to me stopping Nikki, but I convinced myself it was all in my head. Recently, I inadvertently skipped a week of my Nikki because I left my pills at home while I was traveling. Again. My mood was amazing, and I didn't feel the need to nap during the day. I thought nothing of it until now. I started taking Nikki again after returning home. It’s been 2 days. I’ve been in the worst mood all day. Crying, angry, and depressed for absolutely no reason and a horrible headache. This cannot be a coincidence."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I decided to take birth control to help with my PMDD; my anxiety and OCD would get much worse, and my depression would flare up, starting about 11 days before my period. I dreaded whenever I had a special event or work deadline due around that time of the month. So I decided to try birth control recently. My anxiety increased for a couple of weeks upon taking it, but this anxiety has leveled off and now I don’t notice it affecting my mood in a negative way at all. I have noticed no hair loss, weight gain, or acne, thankfully. I have been taking Nikki (generic) for about two months now, and I’m amazed by how I don’t have PMS anymore! (I decided, upon the doctor's recommendation, to take the pill continuously-skipping placebo pills-so I don’t have periods anymore; so this may be why I don’t have the PMS). Only negative side effect: breakthrough bleeding about 10 days during the first month, but it’s been much lighter and less time this month."

For Birth Control "I've been taking Nikki for a couple of months now, and it helped my acne so well. I have taken Sprintec and Ortho Tri-Cyclen before, and none helped. Also, it has only 4 days of sugar pills, thus shorter, lighter, and painless periods. I love it! I sometimes skip those days to keep my skin clear because I tend to break out during period days. I also had very bad side effects with other pills, such as headaches, weight gain, etc. I haven't had any of these with Nikki."

For Birth Control "Nikki is the worst birth control I have ever used. Mood swings, anxiety, stress, and I cry for no reason. My period was 18 days late, my breast was hurting, and it felt like I was pregnant. I stopped taking Nikki, and 4 days later I got my period. Wouldn’t recommend."

"I hate this birth control. I was originally taking Gianvi, which I absolutely loved because I didn't gain ANY weight. My acne cleared up, and I stayed slim. For some reason, my pharmacy switched me to Nikki, and in 2 months, I went from 121 to 143. I am 5'4" and I lift weights 5 days a week. I used to be defined/toned, and now I'm so bloated all the time I look fluffy and bulky. I do NOT like this birth control, and my skin does not like it either!! :("

For Birth Control "I was scared to use birth control pills because my period has never been regular, but decided to give it a try. I haven't had any bad experience with it yet. I did have a difference in my cramps, but it was only one day of intense cramps rather than my usual few days of cramping for a few hours each day."

For Birth Control "I took Nikki for 2 years between 2017-2019. I bled randomly during sex all the time, and I was always on the verge of crying, but Nikki helped me lose weight and made my periods less heavy (I used to have to wear an adult diaper during my periods because it was so heavy). I stopped using it at the beginning of 2020, and my psoriasis came back with a fury, and my periods were so random (sometimes heavy, sometimes light, sometimes only lasted one day). I started taking generic Yaz, which was okay, but my psoriasis wasn’t going away. Now I have been taking Nikki again (it’s April 2023) for a little over a month, and my acne is going away, my psoriasis has subsided, and no weight loss or weight gain has occurred. However, I have random cramping all the time, and again, every little thing makes me cry. I take the bad with the good with this medication. It might work for you, it might not. DO NOT TAKE THIS WITH WELLBUTRIN. I went crazy when I took both."

For Birth Control "My pharmacy ran out of Ocella, so I ordered Nikki, and I hate it. I've had my period for nearly two months straight. I forgot to take it one day, and the next day, I immediately took two pills. By the next day, I started spotting and have had my period ever since. With the exception of the one day I missed, I've been taking it as instructed every day at the same time, and still, I have yet to stop my period."

For Birth Control "I've taken birth control since I can remember, but when my dad lost insurance, I was off of it for maybe six months and felt the best and was the most happy I had ever been. I started taking Nikki about four months ago, and I feel like a zombie. I cry at least twice a day and am constantly angry or depressed when nothing is wrong. I am extremely aggressive for no reason. After coming to the internet for help because I could not take this any longer, I threw my pills in the trash! It's amazing how much it has changed my life in such a short amount of time. Please, do not take these."

For Birth Control "I have been on Nikki for a week and a half, and it completely messed up my stomach. I am always nauseous, always hungry, and I have been having diarrhea. I also constantly have a weird taste in my mouth that won’t go away no matter what I do. I haven’t been spotting or getting headaches, but I did break out a lot, and I have been very irritable. I cannot wait for this month to be over so I can switch birth controls again."

For Acne "I went on this pill to help alleviate severe cramps, lighten periods, and improve acne. I originally was on Aviane, but found that its progestin hormone caused acne, so I switched to Nikki. While on this pill, my periods were worse than when I was on Aviane. They were heavier, and my cramps were worse-they barely responded to Advil. My acne, however, was totally fine. Honestly, this pill is great for skin, and I've noticed a huge positive change; however, I've decided to switch pills due to the other side effects. I've become severely depressed on this pill, irritable all the time, horrible mood swings, and EXTREME fatigue, not to mention loss of sex drive (I NEVER want to have sex anymore-my libido is at 0%). I didn't experience any weight gain or breakthrough bleeding, though. I would honestly say it just depends on the person. I thought the side effects would disappear, but I've tried this pill for 8 months, and there is no sign of them going away."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I'm affected by PMDD and really wanted Nikki to work. The first couple of weeks were okay, minor side effects like breast tenderness, but I was okay. Then gradually, little things started bothering me more to the point I was seething from them. I'd suddenly start crying out of nowhere. Then I'd be sad or triggered by something else. I lost interest in activities that brought me happiness and I just sat around in a miserable heap. I couldn't focus on things and sometimes I'd forget about something I had just done. I also had anxiety over the increased risk of blood clots, like there was an invisible guillotine just hanging over my head that could drop any second, and I'd be maimed or dead from it. I really wanted to get to three months hoping side effects would subside and everything would suddenly be okay, but I only made it into my seventh week before I got so depressed it scared not only me but my husband as well. When something makes PMDD sound tolerable, you know it's bad."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I am so very thankful I decided to Google the reviews for this horrible pill. Like many others, I was on Loryna and getting my RX from CVS until they stopped carrying Loryna and made the switch to Nikki. For the last few months, I have been moody, overly anxious, and my skin has been awful. It finally occurred to me that there was a correlation between me feeling this way and when I started Nikki. After reading these reviews and switching my prescription to another pharmacy to be back on Loryna, I have noticed a huge difference. I already feel better and back to myself. I truly believe that Nikki was to blame, and I’m proud of myself for taking my well-being into my own hands and switching pharmacies. Suffice it to say, if you feel like you’re going crazy, you’re not! It is this pill, and the manufacturer needs to reassess its effects on women. It did nothing for my PMDD."

For Birth Control "I was prescribed Yaz, but my pharmacy gave me Nikki because it's the brand my insurance would cover. I started on Monday, and by Wednesday, I was having hot flashes, nausea, and diarrhea. I take 10 mg of fluoxetine, and it was as if Nikki cancelled it out. Thursday, I went into a severe depression. I also have very clear skin, and I woke up with cystic bumps and inflammation. I have never had major issues with other brands of birth control, so I did some research and talked to a doctor. Nikki is linked to gastrointestinal issues and can trigger a gastritis episode in someone who already has digestive issues. I have been taking 300 mg of Ranitidine every day since March, and it doesn't seem to be helping since I started Nikki. I have been unable to work the last 4 days. I discontinued use on Saturday. Do not take it, especially if you're prone to digestive issues, anxiety, and depression! I should have considered the negative reviews beforehand."

For Acne "Started this birth control with hopes of regulating hormones after developing relatively severe, persistent adult acne (whole regions of breakouts on cheeks, jawline, chin, chest), irregular periods (alternating between 21-45+ days between cycles), and feeling of unstable mood. After the first month of use, acne has significantly improved, is now reduced to a few hormonal pimples on cheek/chin near menstruation. In the second month, decrease in excessive oil and significant improvement in skin integrity (heals faster, reduced inflammation, skin feels and looks healthier ‘thicker’). Menstruation is lighter, however, have some light spotting mid-cycle and suspect my body is still adjusting to the medication after only 2 months. Mood generally more even and cool, fewer extreme lows. Side effects! I work 12-hour days and also run long distances, and I’ve noticed a drop in my stamina. A couple of days where I’ve felt overwhelming fatigue. Suspect it is due to the way the drug counters natural testosterone."

For Acne "I am conflicted with Nikki because, I like how I didn’t have a period. It cleared my acne. The downfall of it, my boobs got bigger, which I already was busty. My sex drive decreased tremendously. Now I know why I was dry, it was due to Nikki. I was always bloated and gained weight. I took this for 4 years, then got off it. Then got back on because I don’t like my face breaking out. Out of the 6 years taking this and being off it for the second time. It is a fact that it decreases your sex drive and makes you bloated. My sex drive is back full force and I’m losing weight again. The only downfall is my face is breaking out again after being off of it for two months."

For Birth Control "I have been bleeding for 103 days straight. Not just spotting. Bleeding. I have zero desire, so my relationship has suffered. I was prescribed this medication to no longer have periods and to help with cramps. This has helped with nothing."

For Acne "I got back on birth control to treat my acne, and it has cleared my skin up 100%. I am on my third month now, and by the second month, my skin really cleared up, which I never thought would happen. The dermatologist recommended I get on the pill and said by month 3 my skin will be clear, and she was right. I will say the first month I was extremely moody and emotional, but that is normal when your body is getting adjusted, but by the second month, I was normal. This birth control keeps my skin clear, gives me light periods, and I didn't gain a pound on it. I'd recommend this to anyone who wants to get on the pill."
