"I have been taking 100 MG every 12 hrs for a few days and at first it was just head aches and nausea but now I'm throwing up with the feeling of the flu and the worst aches and pains not to mention the heart burn!! Will not be taking it anymore !!"

"I started this medicine and within the first day I thought, man I feel so good! It was amazing the first few days (minus the diarrhea, but I understood this as a side effect. I was given Flagyl to ease with this.) Fast forward to day five and I woke up with a stiff neck. It was hard for me to swallow or get any food down. I had a sore throat and can’t move my neck without any pain. I’ve stopped the medication being as I thought it was going to be the end of me. Now I’m waiting for my doctors office to be opened on Monday to be prescribed something else. It’s been 24 hours since I took the last dose and my stiff neck has subsided, But my sore throat and difficulty swallowing persists."

"My doctor prescribed me Doxycycline Hyclate 100mg capsules, 10 days for twice a day. for an ear infection. The pharmacy gave me blue pills mfg by west-ward. So far I have taken the medicine for five days and I have had severe headache, sinus pains, sensitive to light, black and blue circles under my eyes, stomach upset, and severe acid reflux. My ear infection doesn't seem to be improved very much. But I feel like the medicine gave me a sinus infection. I am going to try and contact my doctor and see if I can something different ."

"Cured gum infection, but also changed my digestion for the better, changed it like was 18 again, go figure. No side effects I have experienced. I drink beer as usual, no problem there that I can tell. If you have some bad bacteria in you, this stuff will kill it. The digestion effect was the most unexpected thing, don't know what it did, but it did - no pain, bloat, nothing, what can I say. I really forgot about any sort of digestive issues I was having. I can eat anything, and it does not bother me. ????"

"took it five weeks ago and still having hot and cold flushes shaking hands numbness - can't feel my face or hands I think it should be taken off the market as no one should go through this and I am now panicking about how long before I get feelings back if ever!"

"I was given this after fighting a sinus infection for a couple of weeks. Unfortunately, I am allergic to several antibiotics including penicillin, Bactrim, amoxicillin....etc. So happy I have doxycycline as an option and even happier that I have had relief after just a couple of doses. I haven't experienced any side effects....so far so good for me!"

Doxy 100 (doxycycline) "Have been taking this med now for the past 8 days, for an acute sinusitis infection, and paid strict attention to the pharmacists instructions..... YOU MUST DRINK A FULL GLASS OF WATER after you've taken it. Don't disregard these rules, or you will have severe side effects. Otherwise I'm hoping this time, doxy will clear it up as I was on amoxy and that didn't. This infection keeps repeating because of two bouts of pneumonia, and I'm sure residual infection wasn't properly cleared up then. This time I'm hoping with 10 days of the Doxy it will be so far so good.......BUT PAY ATTENTION TO THE FOOD AND DRINK ON THIS MED....."

"My "Dry Eye" problem (lack of oil in my eyelid oil glands, used to stop eye's tears from drying out) has now turned into a raging Bacterial eye infection and spread to my sinuses. Doctor started me on Doxycycline 20 MG twice daily but no improvement after 3 days; He then upped dosage to 50 MG twice daily several days ago and the inflamation in my bloodshot eyes and sinuses major congestion starting to get slowly better. Not wanting to compromise potency, I eat no food, etc. for 2 hours before and after pills. I'm drinking 2-4 glasses of water with pills and that has alleviated earlier nausea. I'm pleased so far but only half way to recovery."

"Prescribed doxycycline for bacterial infection due to bad sinus infection, two week round. Almost a week in and seeing great improvement. Only experienced a bit of gastro trouble and slight body aches. Started on a probiotic two hours after every dosage. Stomach is better. Over all a good experience."

"After the second day of taking doxycycline, I started feeling sick, however I haven't been sick as of yet. I still have 3 more days of pills to take. My oesophagus feels painful and I get random urges of wanting to be sick throughout the day (nothing comes up however) and it is painful to swallow food (feels as if it is getting stuck in my throat)"

"I was prescribed 100's and for 14 days I was to take two, with food, not lying down for 30 minutes afterward and then continue once a day for the next 62 days. I find it provokes nausea, headaches, and indigestion but is clearing up the skin irritation that was the reason she put me on a strong dose. I suspected bacteria because of other symptoms. My face is just about clear and sinus situations I have had for a long time have lessened leading to confirm what I have always suspected that allergies are caused by a poor immune system. I had not heard until reading these testimonies that you were not to take vitamins which I have continued to take and may be causing stomach irritation."

"I'm reading some of these reviews and am shocked that so many people kept taking this medication after getting sick. I'm not! This is the scariest medication I have ever taken, and I only took 1 pill about 3 hours ago. Right now, I have a pounding headache, my tongue is sore and kind of yellow, and I'm starting to get nauseous. I was given this Med by my dentist for a gum infection, because I'm allergic to penicillin. I'm not taking any more of this. I'm calling my doctor in the AM to get something else... If I don't have to go to the ER in the middle of the night. Kind of afraid to go to sleep like this."

"I wanted to share my daughter's experience with this medication as a warning to others. Please do follow the instructions regarding drinking a full glass of water with this Rx, and not lying down for at least 30 minutes. My teenage daughter woke up in the night and realized she'd forgotten her evening dose, so took it, then went back to sleep. Later that night she woke up with severe pain in her throat, and after several trips to doctors, she was diagnosed by an ENT with basically a throat ulcer caused by the medication burning a hole in her esophagus. This was very painful and she could not eat normally for a week."

"HOLY GAS CRAMPS. Hold on to your hats. Have sinusitis and on Day 2 and I am MISERABLE. Trapped gas cramps so intense I can barely stand. Took this doxycycline as directed with food and water and I am clutching my stomach which sounds like a demagorgan. Straight up not having a good time."

"Just remember people, don't let these scary negative reviews deter you from taking this medicine. It is not toxic. It has been around for years and is proven very effective. Most people don't leave positive reviews because they don't take the time to do it, me included. What we mostly see are negative reviews. I assure you if everyone was forced to leave a review they would be overwhelmingly positive. Some side effects might be stomach upset but that is with ALL antibiotics. Just take with a little food if that is a concern. It is a life saving antibiotic. Listen to your doctor and take your meds!"

"I was given Doxy for a sinus infection and I immediately felt terrible. I had horrible watery diarrhea, headaches and neck pain... I couldn’t sleep and was dizzy / lightheaded and the worst was I was incredibly irritable and had a short fuse. I wouldn’t recommend this medicine to anyone."

"Ok so took doxycycline for inner ear infection and a few days into it I develop wheeze, sore throat, dry mouth and feel like I have flu. My ear is still not right. Sorry but I would never take again despite having no common side effects I just feel like it has raised a war on my immune system"

"On day 3 of 200mg a day for 7 days for pneumonia and I feel like garbage. Definitely a lot of body aches and pains on the first night. Definitely following instructions regarding not lying down, I can't anyways because of my lungs. So far I've been following the instructions regarding no food within 1 and 2 hrs of taking my pill, but I've been puking this morning for the 1st time. Will try with a bit of crackers or toast to see if that helps. I'm annoyed because right now I'm not seeing much improvement for my lungs but the pills make me feel worst. I will try to persevere but I have a nagging feeling I have an ER visit in my near future."

"Is Memory loss a side effect? I was prescribed doxy for an infection (100mg twice a day, for three weeks). Everything was OK for a few days, then I started realising that I'm starting to forget where I'm putting things down, forgot my wallet at shop tills, seriously concerning stuff. Difficulty in concentrating too. I'm not 100% sure how much this has affected me but its definitely doing something to my brain. Other problems is sickness if take on empty stomach. Everything else was fine I guess. Anyone else have memory issues on this?"

"I was prescribed this for 1 month to clear up a bacterial infection around my nose, and for the first two weeks it seemed like it was slowly working. But then on the third week I developed acne all along my jawline and cheeks and I've never had acne there before so that kinda sucked but I thought I'll continue it will probably go away. So as I continued this and I am two days away from finishing, the bacterial infection around my nose comes back. So now a week after finishing my prescribed course the nose infection or whatever it is is as bad as it has ever been and I have new acne that I didn't have before. So yeah I kinda don't want to leave the house."

"Prescribed this medication for an infection. I'm guessing Bacterial. They never told me to source. I hate the side effects. I had to call 911 and poison control because I was scared I was overdosing and having a reaction to it. I need sleep more than anything right now and I'm scared to fall asleep. I'm ok but it makes me uncomfortable more than any other antibiotic made me feel. AM I THE ONLY ONE WITH THESE SIDE EFFECTS?"

"Have been taking for 3 days and was fine until late on the 3rd day second dose. Extreme abdominal pain and burning then woke at 4 am with non stop vomiting, chills, diarrhea. Within 2 hours I had full blown flu symptoms and a mild fever. I can't stand up for more than a few seconds without feeling I'll faint and I've felt incredibly weak. I'm a stay at home mother of 2 children and never had to tell my husband to stay home before to help with kids. I feel worse than I ever have in my life. I'd rather go through labor again then take these horrific pills. The scariest part about this is my symptoms started during a serious flu outbreak, but after reading side effects from others similar to mine I was more at ease."
