"Oily discharge is profuse - even after taking at night and staying in bed, I can feel insert leaking out. Having a sense of bladder urgency. I've stopped using Intrarosa, having read reports of women saying they experienced crying, raging, and loss of their normal, happy outlook when using this med. I tried it for just 2 days. So glad I tried the sample and did not buy the expensive prescription. Am a health professional, so I've been doing a lot of research. Will keep looking for a totally natural product."

"I started taking Intrarosa because my gyn told me my vaginal wall was so thin. I've been on oral estrogens for many years after a complete hysterectomy at age 32, but the vaginal dryness and atrophy has been a problem no matter what the dosage. Intrarosa has solved this problem, and I was surprised to notice that, after a few months of using it, I no longer leak urine when I cough or sneeze unless my bladder is completely full. Even then, it's much less than before. There are two things I don't like. One is that I feel like it's gushing out of me after a few hours. Since my uterus and cervix have been removed, there's no other place for it to go. So I sometimes cut them in half. Also, it's very expensive."

"I was using Vagifem but could not take it at a therapeutic dose because I would get severe bladder spasms and cramping. My NP prescribed Intrarosa instead. Vaginal dryness is gone and sexual response has increased. It’s a little messy and cumbersome to remember to use every day. But, overall, I am happy and my partner and I enjoyed not having to use lubricants for the first time in years."

"Previously posted after 2 days of usage (on 2020-09-06) and thought this was working great. Have since experienced headaches, stomach aches including heartburn and severe belching, hot flushes, and insomnia. These symptoms come on immediately upon insertion and slowly resolve by morning, so it's clearly the effects of the DHEA. I thought it would only act locally on the vulva and vaginal tissue, but that's clearly not the case. I have stopped using."

"I'm 55 and started Intrarosa, and before that, had been on Yuvfem tabs for severe atrophy and painful sex. Back in Nov 2017 - Feb 2018, I was miserable with CONSTANT UTIs from so much discharge. I was constantly at the gyno and urologist, who said, 'It is your vagina reacting to the Intrarosa.' I was on Yuvfem for 6 months prior and had no issues. Intrarosa just leaks out, IRRITATES my bladder. I stopped in Feb. And, because the Yuvfem is not fully taking care of my severe atrophy, I decided to try the Mona Lisa Laser treatment (vaginal laser treatment), but it ended up a nightmare. The laser was set too high for my thin vaginal walls and burnt a hole through my vaginal wall. I ended up hemorrhaging and bled profusely for 7 hours straight in the hospital while they tried to figure it out. After that, they plugged up the hole in my vaginal wall with something like a Band-Aid. I found it would not heal after 6 weeks and needed minor surgery under general anesthesia to recut the lesion and resew back healthy tissue. I'm back to square one using Yuvfem twice a week and still have issues."

"At first, Intrarosa worked. I was thrilled. Too many UTI episodes and could not sit or walk. I was in pain. So, the gyno said to give it a try. Then I began to lose hair, get moody, and began to burn, so I thought, what is the point of this? I stopped, then tried again. I had the same burning. Stopped, tried again, same burning. I think drugs affect everyone differently and we have a lot going on down there. It's not just one thing. It's complicated. So sadly, it did not work for me. I am going to order something else to see if that will help. And with migraines, I have to be so careful."

"About 30 minutes after the first insertion of Intrarosa, I started having menstrual-like cramps until I fell asleep. I am 53 years old, postmenopausal, partial hysterectomy at age 28, so I haven't had cramps in 20 years. Day two, I was experiencing discomfort in the pelvic area internally. I went ahead and used it again the second night. By day three, I could hardly press on my lower pelvic region because it hurt so badly. I never had any discharge. Very disappointed. I decided to discontinue use immediately."

"In Canada, doctors are more conservative in treating menopause. It was a task to get my doctor to prescribe it, but after seeing a few doctors online suggest Intrarosa is good for the usual symptoms and bladder leakage problems, I was desperate to get it lol. Three weeks in, that menopausal odor down there is gone! IYKYK. I smell normal again. My stress incontinence is gone. I can feel my clitoris again. Lubrication has improved. Pain has substantially decreased. Negatives: the delivery method. It’s less than ideal having to insert something every night and still be spontaneous. I never used any vaginal treatments before like estradiol inserts, so I can’t compare. I take topical estrogen as well. I haven’t had any side effects yet, though I’m considering cutting back to every other day to see if it’s just as effective just because it’s kind of inconvenient. This product was covered under my health insurance, so the cost isn’t an issue."

"Intrarosa helped in that it made sex a 'bit' less painful, but I am having significant hair loss and irritability. The residue did stain my pajamas, but OxiClean spray got them out. I started noticing a darkness around my pelvic area on my legs. Today I noticed odd dark spots on the top of my legs in my groin area. What is this? I have experienced weight gain, irritability, bloating, gas, major hair loss, and weird discolored spots in my groin area. I am so thankful to all the women who have shared their experiences. I was really troubled by the hair loss especially."

"I am 63 years old. I read the reviews before using and thought I would try it for vaginal atrophy, low libido, and bladder pain, but no UTI. The first few nights I had insomnia, and my doc said my body had to get used to it. The first 30 days brought relief from dryness and no more bladder pain. Into the second month, I gained 6 pounds and had to wear a larger bra due to swollen and tender breasts and larger underpants due to bloating that made me look 5 months pregnant! My hair was falling out, and I was exhausted all the time. I quit at the end of 3 weeks into my second month and had withdrawal symptoms. I have always been sensitive to hormone therapy but thought I would try it since my doc said I would probably not experience any side effects. I finally feel like myself again and am in my smaller size underwear. Never experienced any increase in libido. I’d caution anyone who is sensitive to hormone therapy to think twice before taking this-wish I had."

"My gyn suggested Intrarosa for vaginal dryness and painful intercourse. I stopped it after 5 weeks as I knew my fibroid had grown. Online I found (a) Intrarosa manufacturers excluded women with fibroids from their trial, (b) the European Medicines Agency and Electronic Medicines Compendium in the UK in their publications on Intrarosa list fibroids as the first condition that may be aggravated and needs to be closely supervised, and (c) there are lots of warnings online not to take DHEA if you have fibroids. My gyn did not think Intrarosa caused this, ordered tests, and urged me to have a hysterectomy - there is always a chance of cancer in a woman 'of my age' (most women on Intrarosa). She referred me to an oncologist who agreed. I am now recovering from a full hysterectomy. The pathology report showed no malignancy. I assume this was all caused by a few weeks on Intrarosa. I urge you to read warnings in the EU and UK Intrarosa documents and online about DHEA."

"I ran a couple of tests just to make sure this particular drug was actually the culprit to my symptoms, and yes, in fact, it was. I would use Intrarosa for about 4 to 5 days consecutively, and by the 5th day, I would start to get flu-like symptoms, extreme fatigue, feeling like I wanted to pass out, dizziness, dry mouth, and full-out panic attacks - mine are NES (non-epileptic seizures) and this drug triggered one on the 5th day of using it. I also found it quite messy as the waxy suppository melted down and out. I don't feel Intrarosa performed as well as other Rx I have been prescribed. Not a good experience at all. I will no longer be using Intrarosa."

"I came off Intrarosa 3 months ago, and I’m feeling more like me, on a REALLY good day, most of the time. I didn’t realize how irritable and miserable it had made me. I was so desperate to find something to help that I persevered for 8 months (I’d already been on Vagifem for 18 months, without any significant changes). I decided to stop, have a break, and start again. Since stopping it, I’ve realized that it didn’t help with the pain one little bit and turned my desires completely off. Now my libido is much better, there is still discomfort on penetration, but it doesn’t feel as sore during, and I enjoy sex a bit more nowadays (instead of wishing it would end). I do use a lot more water-based lube than ever before (from Yes Yes Yes) which really helps. I’m in a much better place emotionally without Intrarosa (and Vagifem), and my husband agrees. Intrarosa definitely didn’t work for me. (I’m 56, had a total hysterectomy 10 years ago, and use Oestrogel HRT)."

"After about 3 months of using Intrarosa, I felt I was having positive benefits with improvement of vaginal tissue. After that, I began to have terrible hot flashes (which were previously very infrequent and mild). I felt agitated and had an episode of crying that I could not control. Around 6 months of use, my blood pressure (which was never a problem) suddenly spiked to a dangerous level, and I ended up in the hospital. I discontinued using Intrarosa. Lots of tests later, and the doctors cannot say definitively that my problems were directly related to Intrarosa. I think they were, as all the symptoms have gone away, my hot flashes are back to 'normal,' and I feel like myself again. I'm now using coconut oil for lubrication, and so far, so good ;)"

"I am 58 years old and have only been using Intrarosa for 1 month (for very painful intercourse). Super simple to use and no side effects of any sort thus far. Quick and simple to use each night. The only complaint I have is the oily discharge. The suppository is a small, waxy insert. You do need to insert it as far up as possible to reduce the “run-off” while sleeping. I do have to wear a small pantyliner each night, which works well, during the day I don’t need one. I don’t think this is a big deal. I find it a very minor inconvenience. I’m only giving it a 6 thus far because I have not experienced any difference yet. Hoping to see some results within the next month. I guess it can take up to 3 months, but hoping for results before then. So far I really love the simplicity of the product... not much mess, no measuring, no anything... just insert and you're done!"

"When I was on Intrarosa, I had the same issue as reported by another patient: mood swings. After 4 months, they were severe - crying and raging within moments of each other. I'm a 60-year-old, stable businesswoman, and this is highly unusual for me. During this time, I also experienced fatigue. I stopped using this medication. I am happy to report that I feel much better."

"Losing my sex drive was like losing a part of my personality. I was on estradiol, progesterone plus a compounded testosterone/estrogen cream. Better menopause symptoms (mood, brain fog), but desire was low and sex increasingly painful and stressful. One week on Intrarosa, and I jumped my husband and enjoyed a ridiculous number of orgasms. "After only 3 applications, I am having bladder urgency all night long. Have to pee every one to two hours throughout the night and can't sleep. Tried it once, took a break for several days (the urgency went away), tried it again two nights, and the urgency is already back. Not worth it."

"I'm up at 3:30 AM! Wide awake. I've only taken Intrarosa 3 times. My lower stomach region hurts. I'm having racing thoughts. This only started since taking the insert. I'm so glad my OB/GYN gave me samples, and I didn't have to pay for this awful experience. My samples are going in the trash!"

"After starting tamoxifen for breast cancer, I developed vaginal atrophy and interstitial cystitis. I was constantly having UTI symptoms, but the culture was negative. My gyn prescribed Intrarosa, which was a godsend. After a week, the UTI symptoms lessened, and after 8 weeks, I don’t have them at all. I also use Replens, which my gyn also recommended."

"My gynecologist prescribed Intrarosa for painful sex. I am 54 years old and in perimenopause. I also have bladder leakage and urgency. Started this medication and had a problem with opening the package. Once inserted, I had an oily substance ruin my underwear. My hot flashes and night sweats got worse while using it and I began having raging and angry thoughts. I was on it for a week, but taking this was not worth how bad I felt physically. I will look for a more natural medicine."

"I only rated this a 9 just due to the fact that I haven't had sex with it yet. I get aroused when situations arise, just haven't had full intercourse. My vaginal wall was so thin it flaked during medical exams. After just 2 months on Intrarosa, my vaginal wall is strong and healthy. Looking forward to experiencing sex again. Did have some hair loss at first, but that has stopped. Love this product. I am not sure if the vitamin E suppositories make the body naturally produce estrogen and progesterone, so I would say I'll stick to this product. Happy patient."

"I did not have any emotional hormonal swings as I have read some women having. I am a 115-pound athletic woman but have hypertension, which has been managed. But after two weeks, my blood pressure went through the roof at nearly 200/104, with some nagging headaches, which could have been blood pressure or the medication. I do not have the headaches now, after a week or a bit longer, blood pressure went down into my normal ranges. I tried it again after three months, and the blood pressure went up again to 176/98. It is definitely, without a doubt, the Intrarosa... Stroke scares me a bit more, but not having sex, LOL. Hot flashes picked up a bit, but they are only annoying, blood pressure was serious."

"Intrarosa has eliminated the severe burning I had from vaginal atrophy. I am also sleeping better and feeling mentally/emotionally brighter. A lot of the oil leaks out, but I sleep on a towel (no underpants at night) and wash the oil off of myself in the morning. I have had no side effects."
