Wellbutrin (bupropion) "I started this a month ago, first it made me very hostile but after a few days I evened out, I am taking it having bulimia and anorexia alternating as well as major depressive disorder It has actually helped me control my eating and almost fully stopped the binge purge cycle. However it does have it's drawbacks, I have a fast heart rate not really fast but noticeable, less suicidal thoughts but when they do come they are stronger impulses and the urge to self harm has been lowered but I still have moments I lose control but it has definitely helped me a lot and I choose the side effects over wanting to commit suicide constantly. This has saved my life 100% for sure because before I had planned to end my life but this made me reconsider it and I want to live."

Wellbutrin (bupropion) "I have suffered a lot from MDD and Panic Disorder. My primary doctor prescribed Wellbutrin for me, and it did absolute wonders for my depression, BUT my panic went up by tons. I had panic attacks for no reason, every single day. I was later added to another SNRI along with a decreased dose of the Wellbutrin. After that, my anxiety became much more manageable. If you suffer from anxiety as well as depression, please talk to your doctor/psychiatrist about taking Wellbutrin with another medication."

Wellbutrin (bupropion) "Though I was struggling with an intense chem imbalance (feeling incredibly hopeless/empty/anxious), I avoided meds for a long time, terrified by bad reviews until the amount I struggled through every waking moment of my day made it impossible for me to continue avoiding. Started on 100 mg of bupropion. I remember feeling very weird at first, dissociating on the first day, then sweating, heart palpitations, some anxiety, and my leg randomly shaking (nothing unmanageable). Immediately, depressive feelings were greatly alleviated. Then a month in, all initial symptoms were pretty much gone, though I still had pockets of depression so I upped my dose to 150 mg XL. Miraculous. I now feel calm, collected, and very content and thankful for my life. The only side effects I still feel are some ear ringing and loss of appetite (not complaining). This was the extra boost of dopamine my brain needed to function like a normal, healthy human brain. Absolutely incredible and so thankful this exists!!"

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) "I started taking 150mg about two years ago quickly went up to 300mg. My motivation went back to a normal level and I started painting, drawing and cooking again. My only issue was that I started getting daily headaches (after I had been on it for six months). My doctor put me on 150mg which got rid of the headaches, but my motivation got worse. I felt like I could do things I couldn’t when depressed, but also like I needed to convince myself to do anything extra. My doctor then gave me 5mg of lexapro on top of the Wellbutrin and its good. Recently got my blood work done for being fatigued, sleeping a LOT and brain cloudiness - its because I have a severe vitamin D deficiency. I highly recommend getting your bloodwork done if you feel like this suddenly loses effectiveness. A low vitamin D level can also cause depression which probably made it harder for me to feel better even on medications. Also look into getting this prescription from walmart, it is apparently $9"

Wellbutrin (bupropion) "Two years ago I was pressured into taking this by doctors and my family, for depression and ADHD. I was on no other medications at the time. I was started on the lowest dose. Side effects went from 0-100 by the end of the first week. Experienced severe paranoia with psychosis (spiders all over walls, painful bug-crawling sensation under skin, auditory hallucinations). I should've gone to the hospital but I'm used to being told I'm overreacting so I stayed up till 3am with someone playing ping-pong to distract me. Cut cold turkey that night (since it was only a week in) and most of the issues were gone the next morning. Spoke to a medical professional recently who was prescribing me an SSRI and she told me this experience on Wellbutrin did not surprise her. Disappointing to see them so unfazed by my story when I was pressured so heavily for a year straight by other doctors to take Wellbutrin. I'd go into the doctors offices and there'd be posters encouraging you to ask for the drug."

Wellbutrin SR (bupropion) "Struggled with MDD and Gen. Anxiety Dis. and self-harming habits. Wellbutrin has changed my life. It's definitely a noticeable chemical adjustment for the first few weeks. Once I adjusted though, it was a miracle. I'm calm, don't have anger or outbursts, no anxiety, no obsessive thoughts or ruminating. I haven't been depressed in over 3 months and I started Wellbutrin in Feb. of 2015. I've had no side effects besides the first few weeks. You will feel very weird for two weeks. Stick with it. No weight fluctuations, dry mouth went away, no sexual side effects, and I have more energy but I don't feel artificially stimulated (you will for about a month though). I give this medicine a 10. My doctor says I'm textbook MDD. Runs heavy in my family."

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) "So I was on Lexapro 20mg for 3 months and it helped somewhat with my very SEVERE depression that I was suffering from with severe anxiety, It was HELL! So my next appointment with the nurse practitioner I was prescribed bupropionXL and she told me to add it to my lexapro and too take both together, but as soon as I started too take them both I got very emotionally sad and numb, so my sister told me to stop taking the lexapro to give the bupropion a chance to work on its own and that has helped so much because now I feel a lot better then before and I'm only taking 150mg XL. Just wanted to share my experience with anyone."

Wellbutrin (bupropion) "Wellbutrin worked for me, was actually pretty much a lifesaver. Tried Zoloft and buspar and effexor, all didn't work too well. However this med does have side effects like increase anxiety, but apart from that I haven't experienced much else. It calms me down and makes me feel like the old me when I was a kid. Confident and happy."

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) "Wellbutrin XL (Buproprion) has helped me kick cravings for alcohol and other drugs. It's really amazing. My doctor prescribed it for major depressive disorder/ptsd and I can feel it helping me get through the winter. I started out on 150mg for 2 months which was fine, then one month on 300mg which was too much (every day stomach-aches, shakes, too much energy, very speedy) so doctor put me back on 150mg XL which is again working nicely and all the shaky/speedy feeling I had on 300mg is gone. My first 2-3 months on this drug I didn't have much of an appetite but it came back after that so now I still eat normally even though I'm on the drug. So yeah, It takes some getting used to. Don't expect immediate results."

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) "I have only been in bupropion XL for 2 and a half weeks I'm on it for MDD. But that being said I can see it starting to work. I am not as anxious as I normally am. My thoughts seems more rational and aren't spirally out of control like they normally do. I was on Celexa for years but found it wasn't working and climaxing was such a struggle to achieve . My female libido is really coming back to what it was 20 years ago! I really am excited that I am starting to feel more happy and not so easily irritated. Give it a try if you are struggling. I'm sure it's not for everyone but , you won't know until you try :)"

Wellbutrin (bupropion) "I have been on 300mg Wellbutrin (WB) for 6 months. I was in a deep depression and WB gave me the drive to get out of bed and out of the house. The physical symptoms of depression were greatly reduced - more awake, alert, increase sex drive, normalized cognitive function. However, it made me feel very uncomfortable - wound up, agitated, irritable. I didn’t like the person I had become. It was almost as if my ego had been amplified ten fold. I reduced to 150mg and felt immediate relief from the restless energy which was worsening my emotional state. I am considering discontinuing."

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) "For the past five years I have been battling depression. I feel extremely fatigued and unmotivated with thoughts of wanting to be dead. Life is totally miserable most times. I went from Cymbalta to Wellbutrin and after a few weeks I started to feel alive again. After about a year on it now I am back to my old depressive ways and my doctor is reluctant to start me on something new. So right now I am miserable again and waiting for my doctor to try something different. I wish all the best to everyone out there fighting this terrible disease!"

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) "I was on the 75mg SR formulation for a week before taking two a day. Went to 150 XL the next month and 300 XL after that. Been on it for about 3 months now. I love this medication. It's changed my life. I don't feel depressed very often anymore and combined with therapy, my life is substantially better. No side effects at all! Much better than Lexapro, which gave me bad sexual side effects."

Wellbutrin SR (bupropion) "A noticeable difference between the brand and generic (bupropion). Started out with brand years ago. I was no longer stuck in bed avoiding life. I could concentrate, no impulsive decision-making or stuck with indecision. Interested in life again, getting out, and lost 40 lbs within the first year. Then insurance changes meant getting generic. I thought, 'no big deal, I take generic for everything'. I soon found myself overpowered by MDD symptoms again while still taking an AD. Dr. mentioned switching to generic was likely the problem. I've since found lots of FDA/med research/similar experiences. Thankfully, I'm back on brand doing good, it wasn't just all in my head. There really is a BIG difference."

Been on this for >8 years; and have got my confidence back!! Symptoms UNDER CONTROL!!! At last confidence and quality of life, not going off these again.... NEVER!"

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) "I have taken Wellbutrin since 1984. I liked that it eliminated my sex drive. I didn't like that it got rid of my ability to recall dreams. Surprisingly, it also inhibited my ability to cry. It numbed me, allowing me to retain jobs for most of the past 35 years. Yes, Wellbutrin has saved my life, kept me employable, checked my over-the-top sex drive and numbed me. Recent health issues kept being labled as 'depression' by medical people until I gave my doctor a list of blood and urine tests I wanted. I was finally diagnosed as pre-diabetic, low Vitamin D levels and excessively low iron - not depression. So I'm back on 150 mg of Wellbutrin, as I've been on and off it for nearly 35 years."

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) "I highly recommend Wellbutrin XL. I used to suffer from major depression, but thanks to the Wellbutrin, my depression is almost nonexistent. Another great thing about it is I don't have any side effects. In the beginning, I lost my appetite & everything tasted bland. I was fine with that because I wanted to lose some weight, but thanks to my other medications my appetite came back. Darn! Maybe if you take it & want to lose weight you will get lucky as long as you don't take other medications to counteract it."

Wellbutrin (bupropion) "My psychiatrist put me on Wellbutrin 75 mg once a day to start with and after 7 days I went up to 2 times a day. Before I started to take it I couldn’t get out of bed because of my depression. My energy levels were at almost zero. The Wellbutrin has helped me tremendously. I actually have energy to get out of bed and live my life. The side effects are constipation and loss of appetite. In the past it gave me severe anxiety which is why my psychiatrist started me at a very low dose and it’s actually helped."

Wellbutrin SR (bupropion) "I got to a point where I was in bed 20 hrs a day, couldn't work etc. Severely depressed .I've battled that all my life but never got on an anti depressant . Wellbutrin along with lexapro 20 MG changed my life. Mainly the wellbutrin as I truly changed when that was added. I'm on 300mg SR. AT first you'll feel jumpy and anxious but give it 3-4 days, week tops, and it'll be incredible I have a new job, I'm traveling. New person."

My only problem is sleep. I've been taking zolpidem for 3 years (5 mgs) and isn't helping much. I've taken a few other antidepressants in the past, and this has been the most effective."

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) "I was so depressed for several years that I could no longer manage my own hygiene, cooking, cleaning or even leaving my apartment. I tried multiple antidepressants and mood stabilizers, nothing worked. Then I was put on Wellbutrin XL and two months later my hygiene is managed, I've lost 20 kg and am no longer obese, I am outside again and even using public transport. I had no light left in my life and I was planning to end it. This medication saved my life."

Wellbutrin (bupropion) "I have bipolar disorder, anxiety, severe depression, PTSD and an eating disorder. I am a 25 year old female and I've been taking Wellbutrin for 3 days with Lexapro. I've tried them all, Lamictal, Abilify, I don't need to go on. My doctor put me on this after attempting suicide. I'm trying this before I go to my last option, hospitalization. I've read so many positive comments, and I feel a difference already. I have so much energy, but I'm still sleeping a lot. The migraines are horrible, but that's really nothing new with this type of medication. This will be the 7th trial of medications I've been on in a year. Not one has worked. I'm trying really hard and being very patient. I hope for a happy ending like most of you."

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) "I switched from Zoloft to Wellbutrin November 2019. When I first started I had of course beginning side effects from anxiety, stomach issues, appetite loss, etc. All those symptoms slowly passed and I noticed a change in my mood, as did others. I not only have depression but anxiety as well. When I started this my anxiety got worse then better then worse again, my doctor prescribed me buspar for my anxiety it did end up helping for a short time until recently. I had a very awful and my first panic attack. I decided to get off Wellbutrin as my anxiety was at an all time high. The withdrawal symptoms are not so great, but I’m glad I’m off of it. If you have depression then this medication is great but if you have anxiety I would consider a different route. Everyone is different and experiences medication differently so do not take what I said and apply that to yourself. Talk to your doctor and see what is right for you. Best of luck"
