"I've been on subs for ten years now, was the only way to stop 16 years of addiction to heroin without relapsing, but this drug is harder to get clean from compared to heroin. I tried for one week and it was hell, I've never been in so much pain. My bones hurt so much, felt like ants running in my blood, the sweat, the shivering, no sleep at all. It is hell 10 times worse than heroin. If you start taking subs, take it only for a couple of weeks. After that, you can’t stop taking it. I’m reducing it now to 4 ml a day. I want to stop taking it as I've been told the long-term use of subs is not good for your health. All the best to all."

"I have been on Subutex for a couple of years after 25 years of methadone maintenance. It was a godsend. I strongly recommend it for opiate addiction. It was also helping with severe pain due to severe osteoarthritis, but not a lot. I stopped taking it at 0.4 mg two weeks ago and, apart from fatigue, am absolutely fine. It was my own idea to detox. Feeling mentally positive. Hope this helps."

"I’ve been on Suboxone films for 10 years, and it did save my life. A lot of Drs and people have no clue what they’re talking about because Suboxone doesn’t get you high at all, and you can’t compare it to methadone. But I switched to Sublocade shot, and so far, love it. I don’t have to remember to take it and no ups and downs. A plus for this med."

"I would like to say to anyone that really wants to quit abusing opiates that Subutex saved my life. I've been abusing prescription pain medicines for 5 years. I began taking Suboxone, then after about a year switched over to Subutex because it cost less. Today I have no cravings and live a very normal life. At least I will not go to jail on a felony drug charge if I'm caught with them, and I'm taking them under doctor's supervision. I thank God and my wife for standing by me through all this. I've come a long way."

"I was on Suboxone for 8 years (4-6 mg). I decided to go the Sublocade route. I did have to increase my dosage to 8 mg daily before I got the shot. The shot itself was painless (my doc numbed me up before). At first, I HATED the shot, I was groggy, numb, and withdrawn. However, after two weeks, I started to feel better. I recommend that YOU DO NOT SUPPLEMENT!!! The whole reason to get this shot is to get off daily Suboxone. Yes, there was some discomfort in the beginning, but try to stick it out. My doctor recommended 3 shots total: 300 mg, 300 mg, 100 mg. After the first shot, I realized I feel fine, I called the doctor's office and canceled my next shots. There are some side effects, my constipation is horrible, I feel like I gained a few pounds (for some reason, I craved SWEETS the first month). However, it’s been two months since my shot, and I feel better every day!"

"I had taken the shot 2 times and decided to stop. I must say that it worked very well, and I have been since December 10th without the shot. Today is September 30th, and still to this day I have not felt any withdrawals. The only bad thing is that it is still showing up in my urine test. I have not taken anything since December 10th, and I'm in a program that does not believe I haven't taken anything, and it is really stressful. I'm not sure if anyone else has had this issue or not, but if someone could please help me in this matter, it would be greatly appreciated."

"Subutex saved my life. I had been opioid dependent for 7 years. From one 5 mg a day to 100 mg just not to feel sick. I've been on 8 mg to 16 mg Subutex for 5 months, and although I still crave occasionally, I'm not pill seeking or dope sick. I know eventually I will need to come off Subutex, and I'm okay with that. My life no longer revolves around my next pill or whatever is available if no pills. I hate that life."

"I had 10 years sober, unfortunately, I broke my back at the gym and was prescribed opiates for pain. Eight months of hell, and I was told about Sublocade. I started out on two months of 300 mg. Now I'm on the 100 mg and have received four shots of the 100 mg. I want to come off of it and was hoping someone that has come off it successfully? Also, if anyone had withdrawals. I feel like when I speak to doctors, they try to change my mind about coming off of it. If anyone out there truthfully has come off of it, please share your experience and let me know. Going to get one more 100 mg shot, and then I'd like to be off of it. Thank you."

"I have tried Suboxone and methadone, but Subutex is by far the best! It saved my life. I was addicted to H for about 10 years, and I got a doctor to prescribe me Subutex and watch me closely, along with weekly drug tests. And I have been the most clean ever in 10 years. I can walk with my head held high now. Feels real good to be normal again!"

"So I just got on the shot about three weeks ago after being on two 8 mg Suboxone strips a day. And the first about 4 or 5 days, I just didn't feel right, like almost withdrawals but not as bad, but close. I like the shot that I don't have to worry about taking my subs every day. But it's three weeks later and I still feel kind of off, like I don't feel like I was when I was taking my Suboxone. And I've been experimenting with uppers lately. I don't know. Has anyone else felt this way at all?"

"I am currently on Subutex and have been for almost 2 years. Like many others have said, it is a great medicine to be on if you really want to quit your habits. It can be a long process for some, and for others, it may take not long at all. Some people use it for pain management. But I myself have done good on this medicine. It's been such a long road for me, like I'm sure it has for the rest of you. I am now finally getting down to such a low amount and soon should be free from Subutex. I know my addiction will always be there, but with the right help, I can stay clean!"

"After taking pain relievers every day for years, I would be taking them just to avoid withdrawal. I literally woke up every day with withdrawal, and even if I wanted to stop, I couldn’t because I was so afraid of withdrawal. I was prescribed Subutex 8 mg twice a day. I was so scared it wouldn’t work or would have bad side effects, but I finally did it. I woke up with withdrawal as usual, and even though I was nervous and scared, I took the Subutex, and it worked! Totally stopped my withdrawal completely within a few minutes, the same or even better than if I had taken a Percocet. This is literally a miracle drug. I am still amazed at how well it works, absolutely zero withdrawal and absolutely zero bad side effects. I know how scared you are about going through withdrawal, but with this unbelievable drug Subutex, you can stop taking painkillers with no withdrawal. It’s really amazing. I hope this helps someone one day."

"There is no naloxone in this med for anyone wondering or saying there is. Sublocade has buprenorphine only. I was on strips for 2 years before, technically, being forced to go to the shot due to other people in my area diverting their meds. I have never diverted my medication, but was told if I wanted to do maintenance, I would have to switch, and I was happy to because I don't divert my meds and could care less how it is administered. I have nothing but good things to say about it. Don't have to worry about traveling with it or the box falling apart in your purse or bag, theft, or any other problems that arise if you currently take the pills or strips. I'd recommend this to anyone wanting to do maintenance if your insurance covers it."

"I've been on Subutex for 5 years. I am now being tapered. I've been tapered 1 whole tablet in less than a month. I am trying my best to take care of my newborn and toddler. I have nobody at all that will help me with them so that I can come off. That's making me have panic attacks, severe depression, and anxiety. Does anybody have any helpful advice?"

"I am 59 years old, and after an accident about 11 years ago, I was put on 10/325 Percocets till my surgery. I had a very active life (big job, friends, parties, etc.) and started to abuse the Percocets by taking too many a day. I also used to do a lot of cocaine but always had it under control. A completely different story with the Percocets. Once I figured out that I was addicted, I was put on Suboxone and then Subutex. A few years ago, I tried to get off, and it was a nightmare, and I failed. I am now on a maintenance dose of 8 mg and pretty much know that I will be on it till they put the lid on me. Bottom line is you are trading one addiction for another without getting high. That's the ugly truth!"

"I have been taking pills since 1997, started with Vicodin and graduated to heroin, Roxicodone, and OxyContin. Been to prison twice because of my addiction. Came home, stayed clean a year, then started again. In August 2010, I was eating 100 30mg Roxicodone a day. It's hard to believe but true. I went to a doctor, and he put me on Subutex, 4 a day, down to 1/4 a day in a 5-day period. Felt okay but a little chilly, cold. This is a miracle medicine for anyone who is using. Please try it."

"I am unsure about this shot. I have gotten it twice now and had to fight for the second injection. The first time I got it, I was only two in 5,000 people where the shot didn’t properly dissolve into my body, and I had extreme withdrawals after two days. They even did a urine and blood test, and my bup scores were 500 on the strips and down to 70 by the time they believed I was in withdrawal and put me back on to strips. I just got my second one by a different doctor after the doctors spoke to pharma and any other doctors about their opinions on me getting a second dose because I want off Suboxone. I’ve been stuck on it for 5 years and had two children during this time. I want to be free, and I experience insane withdrawal when I wean off of strips. So it’s day two, and I am getting some hot and cold sweats but feel a little more tired than last time, and I am not feeling as “sick” as last time. I am so hopeful! I will update this in 10 days! :)"

"I was on 24 mg Suboxone and was told about Sublocade. It worked so well for a week, and then withdrawals came in. I'm now back on the strips. This didn't work for me, the dose needs to be higher than 300 mg because when you do the math, it's only really releasing 10 mg in a 24-hour period. Be wary of this. If you're on 16 mg or less, then it's a godsend, but unfortunately, anything above will not work."

"This medication is lifesaving. Unfortunately, the process for actually receiving the medication is extremely devastating. Getting this medication, for my husband, required months of spending hours a day on the phone with insurance companies, specialty pharmacies, and various financial aid programs. Each party involved came with their own set of specific guidelines, human error, delays, and issues. This medication could eliminate the opiate epidemic. To receive this lifesaving medication, a person requires an advocate who is able and willing to dedicate months of their life towards getting a medication. Interesting how easily opiates are prescribed, yet treatment for the repercussions is nearly impossible. Lives would be saved if this medication were more accessible."

"I have been on Sublocade for a little over 1 year, and it is way better than the strips I had been using. I was taking 500-600 mg of opiates a day, and now I have been clean for 5 years. Time to kick the Sublocade."

"I’m 34 years old and have had issues with opiates since I was 19. Stayed clean for 6 years after a long and painful withdrawal from methadone that left me feeling like rubbish for 6 months after acute withdrawal symptoms had ended. Relapsed 8 months ago and went to my intake appointment this morning, 2 days into withdrawals from a 90-200+ mg per day morphine habit. Walked out of the clinic with 10 mg of Subutex in my system, feeling “normal” for the first time in months. I had forgotten what that feels like. A huge burden has been lifted off my shoulders. The relief is indescribable-not only from the physical and emotional pain of opiate withdrawal, but relief that I now have a future to look forward to. Miracle drug, in my opinion."

"I started the Suboxone program about 1 year ago, but I'm now currently taking Subutex. The reason I've been put on Subutex is due to a work-related injury, and with Suboxone, one cannot take any opiates due to the blocker, and I need the Subutex because I'll be having surgery soon. Long story short... I would recommend a Suboxone treatment program to anyone- you don't have those 'cravings' you once had! If you are willing to stop 'using,' this is the best program available. In my opinion, give the program a try, and finally, you will feel normal again- it's amazing how wonderful you feel knowing you are clean and, most importantly, you are finally back to your old self again."

"Was prescribed the tablets (then films) for 2 years before I finally got the Sublocade injection. I did not dose as normal on the morning of the injection. The injection burned going in, lasting about 1-2 minutes. Right away, I could tell that a decent amount of buprenorphine had entered my system. I told my doctor that I hadn't dosed my films that morning; he suggested that it might help to take 1 or 2 films, in addition to the injection. I took 2 films and, no doubt about it, I had a significant amount of bupe in my system. Slept really well that first night, and when I woke up, I could tell that I'd woken up with a good amount of bupe already in my system. And this matches clinical trial data that Tmax, following the first injection, is at about 24 hours -- i.e., an initial peak in plasma bupe levels occurs about 24 hours after the initial injection. So now I am waiting to see what the coming days bring. My hope is that I'll be totally free from having to put things under my tongue."

"I am a recovered IV heroin user. I have tried many other treatment options, and the only one that worked is Subutex. I have been on it for about 5 years now and have very slowly decreased my dosage from 16 mg daily (2 pills) down to a very small fraction of 1 pill (probably only 1 mg daily). So, I will soon be free from this medicine as well. I highly recommend this option to anybody that wants to quit using opiates. As the posters have said, you actually have to want to stop using, and create a strong desire within yourself to get clean, and keep a positive attitude and belief in yourself that you can do this, even if you have failed before. Be strong and you will get through the very mild bad part, which is only for a week or two."
