Bismuth subsalicylate for Diarrhea "I was so sick from a stomach virus going around my city, including my own doctor's office staff. I literally felt like I was dying. My wonderful neighbor brought me a bottle of Pepto-Bismol, and after the first dose, I immediately started feeling better. I couldn’t believe it, as I had been delirious only moments before."

Bismuth subsalicylate for Diarrhea "As a college student with moderate IBS symptoms/overly sensitive stomach, sharing one bathroom with four people can REALLY be scary. Instead of having to climb out the window and run into the woods or bang on the door begging for mercy, popping a couple Pepto tablets can REALLY help relieve the symptoms of impending doom. It mellows my stomach out within 5 minutes of taking, doesn't taste bad, and gives me a sense of safety. Sometimes, your stomach still gets upset much later, which at that point is completely fine - it has to come out sometime, right? Generally speaking, it's usually great, and I never get the upset stomach! I recommend it to anyone, it's saved me many times and can do the same for you."

Bismuth subsalicylate for Indigestion "It is a must-have in my medicine cabinet, knowing I have it makes me feel so secure. I occasionally (maybe once or twice a year) wake up with very horrible stomach pain, and it used to plague me for up to 48 hours, and I would constantly be worrying about the day it would come. Now, if I do experience stomach pains, taking a dose of Pepto-Bismol eliminates the pain within 30 minutes. It is a miracle drug. I no longer live in fear."

Bismuth subsalicylate "I have used Pepto-Bismol liquid off and on for more than 10 years because it was effective. But, sadly, the manufacturer has changed the formula, replacing saccharin sweetener with sucralose. Now the liquid is so sickeningly sweet, I cannot use it and have switched to Kaopectate."

Bismuth subsalicylate for Diarrhea, Chronic "Let me tell you, Pepto-Bismol is the best medicine I have ever taken for my stomach issues. I have IBS-C, and sometimes my IBS medicine gives me nasty side effects and makes me bloat, have indigestion, stomach pain, and Pepto-Bismol will literally get rid of all my symptoms. I absolutely love it! It has given me back my life, seriously. I do not take my IBS medicine every day. Whenever I need it and then the side effects come, I will take Pepto-Bismol, and I feel actually normal! I forgot what normal felt like until I took this medicine! I always recommend it to my friends and family. I call Pepto-Bismol gold in a bottle. Also, I appreciate not having crazy side effects from this medicine, it just helps me and no problems. I only take it when I take my IBS medicine, and it doesn't stop my IBS medicine from working either! This is great stuff."

Bismuth subsalicylate for Diarrhea "I took the tablet form, which is not mentioned on this website. (Perhaps that form is new.) I took one dose (two tablets) after the first BM. I took two more one hour later after the second BM. That was the last BM after several days of diarrhea. This diarrhea is a side effect of a new Rx medication, which I am continuing to take. I had no side effects from Kaopectate."

Bismuth subsalicylate for Indigestion "I find that this works for me better than Pepto Bismol. I use the liquid version. Absolutely love it. Works in 15 minutes or less. A lifesaver if I get a stomachache before bed, this helps me sleep and forget I even had a stomachache."

Bismuth subsalicylate for Diarrhea "Let me be the first to mention I used to love taking Pepto-Bismol up until one day I had an urgent need to go to use the restroom, and to my surprise, I was devastated by what Pepto-Bismol did to me. Let me be clear, I don't mean to sound nasty, or I don't want to spoil anyone's appetite, but I'm only on here because I have to be totally, completely honest. My stool was black, tarry, and bloody. Be careful how much of this you consume, and what's even worse, I had to switch from taking Pepto-Bismol to now taking Mylanta. It's going to take decades for me to get used to this."

Bismuth subsalicylate for Diarrhea "It worked after I took like 6 of them over the course of a couple of hours. It was a bad decision, though, as it made me constipated for 5 or 6 days after that. Be careful if you have IBS and have alternating constipation/diarrhea or any other related stomach issues."

Bismuth subsalicylate for Indigestion "I've found Pepto-Bismol really useful for when I get acid reflux. It really helps to calm and cool my stomach. Anytime I'm feeling nauseous, it's the first thing I go to! I also take Pepto-Bismol when I've eaten too much, as I do have a binge eating disorder. It helps prevent the reflux before it starts. I only take it when I'm experiencing symptoms."

Bismuth subsalicylate "Woke up one morning and had a cup of coffee. Half an hour later, developed the worst stomach ache I've ever had. Couldn't sit, stand, or do just about anything. Drank water, took Tums, Citrucel, probiotics my wife gave me all by 10 a.m. Nothing helped. She had mentioned Pepto, but I said that's for diarrhea, that won't help. After 7 hours of suffering, I took the Pepto. Glad I did. It worked wonders. Within 10 minutes of taking 15 ml, I felt better, 30 minutes later, took another 15 ml. Bingo! I was fine."

Bismuth subsalicylate "I had a serious digestive problem, and I was given Pepto-Bismol on the day it became sepsis, so I ignored the symptoms, and I spent 10 days in the hospital. I was told it numbs the problem and caused sepsis, so I thought I was okay, but nope."

For Indigestion "Had sudden onset of indigestion that sent acid up to the back of my throat. Antacid tablets did nothing to help. By late afternoon the next day, I needed something, anything to make it stop. Called the Nurse Line on my insurance card, and she recommended something like Pepto-Bismol. Was skeptical but had it on hand, so tried it. It worked perfectly, and because it can be used with greater frequency than other antacid treatments, I was able to take it seven times a day for 2 days, to let everything heal. Will not be without it. NOTE: be sure to drink plenty of water to prevent a problem at the other end."

Bismuth subsalicylate "I use it before traveling or going to a sports event. It saves me from having major issues at these events. It does turn stool dark for a day or so, but my doctor said it's not a concern as long as it goes away. I used to take it daily, but I try to limit it only when it's absolutely necessary."

For Indigestion "Horrible, low-quality product! Hard as a rock to chew and does not dissolve well at all... nothing but hard, gritty, nasty-tasting chunks to try to get out of your mouth and teeth! Doesn't dissolve enough to actually help you in my experience. Just buy the real Pepto stuff and you'll be much happier and feel better."

For Diarrhea, Chronic "I have taken so many things for my stomach. Ginger tea and all the drugs I can find. I personally love the taste of Pepto Bismol or whatever generic. I wish I could drink it all the time for IBS-D. But it stops diazepam from being absorbed. I have to take the pills hours before the Bismuth. But I also must have my system cleared of Bismuth. I cannot drink it all the time. That is also a lot of Bismuth."

Bismuth subsalicylate "Pepto-Bismol Ultra 2x concentrated formula (24 caplets) REALLY works! I woke up feeling horrible; bloated and nauseous with an upset stomach. I couldn't call out of work at the last minute, so I had to truck on. I stopped by Walmart, where I found this new Pepto-Bismol Ultra in caplets, and I decided to try it. The caplets are pretty big; however, they're easy to snap in half, which is kind of cool if you just need a half dose. I took one before I left the parking lot and was surprised that it was completely tasteless, which is awesome because there's no aftertaste lingering on your taste buds. I drove 2 blocks and released some flatulence. Three stoplights later, I was no longer nauseous, and I was feeling a little bit better. By the time I got to work (11 minutes later), I felt SO good that I knew I wouldn't have to leave work early due to still not feeling well. I love this product and recommend it to everyone that I come across. It is the best and only stomach ache medicine for me!"

Bismuth subsalicylate for Indigestion "I had a minor acid reflux this week. I didn't know which over-the-counter medicine to take, so I Googled. I randomly ended up at Pepto-Bismol and read some reviews. Most of the reviews were quite positive about the drug, so I went to the nearest Walgreens and bought one. I took it for the next two days as directed, however, it never worked, or I didn't get better! I got annoyed and ended up throwing it away! I went ahead and bought Alka-Seltzer and got better immediately! In conclusion, Alka-Seltzer is great, and Pepto-Bismol is not!"
