Armodafinil for Narcolepsy "I was diagnosed with Narcolepsy about 18 months ago after battling constant fatigue no matter how much sleep I received at night or how many naps I took throughout the day. Nuvigil has changed my life! I take one pill daily, and I am able to live a normal life outside of the fog that I was constantly living in before my diagnosis. I had a lot of side effects when I first started taking Nuvigil, which included headaches, dry mouth, cramping, nausea, loss of appetite, and dizziness, but those were nothing compared to being able to finally live my life fully for the first time! I felt like before I was swimming in murky water, unable to see or function, and after the medication, I can actually experience life and interact with people!"

Armodafinil for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome "I had to fight with insurance to cover my Nuvigil but finally got them too. I have battled to get my hypothyroidism optimized for years, and even when I had it at a pretty good level, I was always tired. The doctor labeled it chronic fatigue, and the Nuvigil has made a huge difference. I feel like I can finally keep up with everybody else and don't have to stand up at the back of meetings at work to stay awake. Nuvigil did have some strong side effects at first (headache, nauseous, lack of appetite), but they were pretty much gone after a week or so."

For ADHD "Armodafinil works wonders for my ADHD. Some anxiety symptoms in the late afternoon, which were relieved by exercising or getting up and going for a walk/hike (I have always had some anxiety, and this is the coping method that works for me). No irritability or otherwise problematic emotional symptoms. Did tank my appetite though, I found eating a little something at regular intervals made me realize I was indeed hungry, so I was able to eat normally but did have to monitor and make sure I was eating enough. Did have issues with light crashes in the afternoon, not as intense as those from Vyvanse/amphetamines, but still present. Felt sleepy, which was usually a plus at bedtime. Took as-needed about four days a week, some days I preferred to lay low when I didn't have pressing tasks to attend to."

Armodafinil for ADHD "After a few days on Nuvigil (after experiencing Provigil), I found it to be excellent for my ADHD. Provigil made me feel anxious all day, to the point I could not run or work out in comfort. The first day on Nuvigil was the only day I had this feeling. The side effects for me are dry mouth and suppressed appetite. It is so nice to be focused. The worst effect was muscle weakness! I went from running 7 miles to not being able to run more than 7 minutes."

Armodafinil for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome "Have been on Nuvigil 150 for about a week for MS-related fatigue. It gives me energy to stay awake, but after 7 or 8 in the evening, I am beat. Only problem is I don't sleep well, and my appetite is nonexistent."

For ADHD "First trial of this armodafinil was amazing - by far the most effective option for my ADHD. It made me feel alert, focused, and content without jitters, anxiety, appetite loss, increased heart rate, or the other side effects common with stimulant-based meds like Ritalin. I regularly take short breaks from meds, so when I started this again, I had pretty bad anxiety and didn’t experience the calmness or focus that I had before, which was a real surprise. The main downside with armodafinil, besides the inconsistent experience, was that it consistently made me sweat more than usual, and it’s super expensive here in Australia. I’m sure I’ll try this again, but for now, I’m happier on modafinil."

Armodafinil for Depression "Started at 150 mg, took half a day and felt like a new person - it changed my life. Quickly found I need to take the full tablet to get the same effect. Three months ago, doctor increased to 250 mg, take full tablet, but the effect only lasts 3-4 hours. Your body becomes immune and needs more and more. And now I 'crash' early afternoon and become very depressed. Took appetite away, lost 20 lbs in a little over a year."

Armodafinil for Narcolepsy "After being diagnosed at age 35 with narcolepsy and REM sleep behavior disorder, my ENT put me on Nuvigil 150 mg to help me stay awake during the day. I'll tell you what, it didn't do a darn thing. My kids actually said they thought it made me more tired. He then bumped it up to 250 mg, and I'd say it helped for an hour or so. It gave me horrible headaches, lockjaw, and teeth grinding, pretty much no appetite, but the worst part of all had to be how bad it ALWAYS made my stomach hurt and how I felt like I was going to throw up most of the time. It definitely didn't help me, and I'd still find myself falling asleep and needing a few naps each day. I also ended up losing 7 lbs in 3 weeks, which wasn't good for me since I'm already very thin."

For Narcolepsy "Started this medication a few weeks ago on the 150 mg dose. It stopped working, so my doctor upped the dose to 200 mg. Since day one, I have had the WORST nausea, migraines, the overall feeling of sickness, loss of appetite, and vomiting that are only getting worse every day. The medication has not even worked that well for me, and for me, it is just not worth taking. I am stopping this medication immediately."

For Idiopathic Hypersomnia "Conditions: Idiopathic hypersomnia/Fibromyalgia. Began medication: 2020, age 27 (now 29). Dosage: 150 mg daily. Cost: Covered by universal health care (Australia), out of pocket is $6.60/month. It has drastically increased my quality of life. Before, I could only work ~25 hours a week, and spent most of my days sleeping or resting. Long story short, I am now achieving my academic, career, and social goals in life, and overall I am very happy. My depression has also greatly improved. I am still sleepy most of the time, I still have to rest a lot, and side effects include digestive issues, minor anxiety, appetite suppression, etc. However, with a good routine/lower dosage, those side effects are very manageable. It doesn't eliminate your fatigue, but it does make it possible to ignore those urges and go on with your day without too much hassle. Basically, it helps your brain stay on track and manage things, rather than magically fixing or removing the issues altogether."

Armodafinil for Drowsiness "I took a full pill the first day, which was stupid, as I'm very sensitive to medication. I felt like I was on speed. I was talking really fast, my hands were shaking, my heart was beating a million miles an hour, it felt like an anxiety attack. I also got a horrible headache and nausea later in the day. I didn't take it again for a month, and then I cut the pill into quarters. For a week, I took 37.5 mg a day. I got a few headaches, dizziness, and nausea throughout the day, but it was tolerable. Three days ago, I upped it to 75 mg. I still don't feel any help with sleepiness! I am still dizzy, have headaches, nausea, and a lack of appetite. But I'm going to wait it out and keep upping it to 150 and see if it ever starts working. Hopefully, the side effects go away soon!"

For Narcolepsy "I was diagnosed with narcolepsy by an MSLT and just found out the results today. I only experience ES with narcolepsy. I have been taking this medicine for almost 2 months now. I have had the dosage increased twice. At first, when I started taking the medicine, I was very energized and had a hard time sleeping a few nights. After getting used to the medicine, I don't feel excessively energized, jittery, or have trouble sleeping at all. I just feel awake, and it gives me the power to lead a successful life. I have had a few side effects from the medicine. I often experience neck cramps/aches and almost always get dry mouth. I also sometimes have a lack of appetite. These side effects are very manageable. Armodafinil has changed my life."
