For Chronic Fatigue Syndrome "I have had CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome) for many years, undiagnosed until recently. I was almost bedridden, had to miss lots of days at work, and thought that I would have to file for disability. My Dr. prescribed Nuvigil 50 mg. I have not missed any work due to illness. It has given me my life back. Praise God for it."

Armodafinil for ADHD "I GOT A 30-DAY SUPPLY OF 150 MG FOR FREE! It would have been $500 as I have no insurance. But my doc gave me a Nuvigil Savings Card! Plus I get refills for $5! Can't believe my luck! So, please ask your doc for a card or coupon. It's good for both insured and uninsured. This promotion expires at the end of the year though. Not sure if they'll offer it in 2015. I've only been on it for two days but the results have been fantastic. I switched to this from Adderall, which gave me energy and made me more social but made me jittery and did not help with my concentration or organization. Nuvigil helps me stay focused, motivated, and clear-headed throughout the day."

Armodafinil for Fibromyalgia "I've had fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome, and neuromusculoskeletal disease as well as multiple sclerosis and depression. I was told about Nuvigil by a friend who also suffers from MS and fibromyalgia. I found myself in a deep depression with so much pain that I was sleeping 18 hours a day. Since I've been on Nuvigil, I am able to stay awake, more alert, and have been able to get my life back. It doesn't affect me like Adderall did. I feel happier and more alert, thanks to Nuvigil. This has been a wonderful experience, and I thank my friend for suggesting it. What a life saver!"

For Depression "Immediate lifting of depression; gave me my life back. Best to take 1/2 of 250 mg very early on an empty stomach with lots of water. I find it best taken around 5 am, go back to bed and wake later feeling great. Take another half before noon if needed, but, again, have an empty stomach and a big glass of water. After a week or so, effects not as strong and can make you feel paradoxically very tired. Take 2-3 days off, and it will resume working. Be cautious and mindful of how your personality may be affected; reduce dosage if you're getting 'too happy,' overly friendly, and too talkative. Also, it really focuses you, and it's good to make an effort to 'break' the hyperconcentration by taking a break, a walk outside, or a hot shower. I've been taking it for 4 yrs."

Armodafinil for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome "So far I love Nuvigil. I can actually go all day without needing to lay down in the afternoon. I suffer from Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue. I may need to bump it up as 150 mg does not seem to make me as awake as it did the first week. I like the way it makes me feel awake but not nervous and jittery like Ritalin did. I can now work a shift and actually come home and do chores around the house instead of lay down. I have had no side effects so far and have been on it for a month."

For Depression "Nuvigil has given me myself and my life back, and I am so grateful! My doc first gave it to me about 7 years ago. The script was for 5-10 days. Tried it again a few years later after a bad episode, and again for 5-10 days. It was like a magical pill that within 1 day snapped me out of a rough episode! Fast forward to this past April or May, probably my worst depressive episode ever started in March. Anyway, started back on Nuvigil as an ongoing med. NOTHING! Ran out and couldn't get to my doc, so I ran out. So glad I did because I got back on it Thursday night, and I was feeling better Friday! I do take other antidepressants, so I don't know how this works on its own. I never post here, but had to in hopes that my story will help someone!"

Armodafinil for Shift Work Sleep Disorder "I have now been on Nuvigil since mid-July, 2010. My doctor was initially hesitant to prescribe it to me because he was of the opinion that I could just 'will away' my sleep disturbance. I have sleep apnea and shift work sleep disorder. He prescribed this begrudgingly as he figured all I needed was more self-control. If that was all I needed, somewhere in the 20 years I was struggling with this, I should have had success. I tolerated his belittling because I needed his help. Starting on DAY 1, I began to feel a real difference with using Nuvigil. To me, it was a miracle medicine. I could finally stay awake in the daytime without feeling sleepy ALL THE TIME. Since starting this, I have had the energy to be highly productive every day ever since."

Armodafinil for Obstructive Sleep Apnea/Hypopnea Syndrome "I just started taking Nuvigil. Today is day 2. Before Nuvigil, I had been suffering for the past 3 years or so with marked fatigue. First, I decided I should do a sleep study. They discovered that I have sleep apnea and I stop breathing about 50 times an hour. I got the CPAP machine and used it every night for the past 3 months. It didn't make the difference I was hoping for. So, I talked to my doctor again, and since I have young children, I didn't want a sleeping medication, and so he prescribed Nuvigil. It's been a life changer. I have the energy I used to have when playing with the kids and taking them outside instead of lying on the couch every day."

For Narcolepsy "I have been on Nuvigil for at least 5 years. My insurance recently stopped paying for the name brand and will only pay for generic. My pharmacy filled armodafinil from drug manufacturer Aurobindo... my experience was absolutely horrible. I have never been so tired in my life. Within an hour of taking it, I was extremely tired, I was unable to stay awake regardless of whether I was standing, driving, or gardening. The headaches were debilitating and I started having dizzy spells. When I realized it could be this medication by this manufacturer, I stopped taking it immediately, and it took two days for the effects to wear off. I will never take any medication from the drug manufacturer Aurobindo again."

Armodafinil for Narcolepsy "During a yearly checkup, my doctor impressively picked up on my sleep disorder (personally, I thought he was nuts; I felt it was just all the crazy stress in my life that made me want to sleep at any chance I got). Well, my sleep study came back severely abnormal. What?? Are you kidding me??? He was right! I was diagnosed with excessive daytime sleepiness/narcolepsy without cataplexy. Since then, I have been on Nuvigil 250mg. I cannot begin to tell you the difference it has made! The response was immediate for me, and I'm so glad I no longer have to sleep my days away! What an interesting field of medicine! I believe what they know about sleep now is just a scratch on the surface on how it impacts our health and well-being."

For Depression "Have suffered with depression most of my adult life. Diagnosed with MS age 1985 - 26 years ago! With age and MS - anxiety, major fatigue, major depression, and cognitive dysfunction - all were making it difficult to get out of bed, much less function effectively. Psychiatrist of many years prescribed Nuvigil 10 years ago - and it has been a lifesaver! On days that I have to make decisions, socialize, and get anything 'normal,' such as housework done - I will take (2) 250 mg Nuvigil/armodafinil - early AM, mid-afternoon. But as others have mentioned, I will also stop taking it when it begins to lose its effectiveness for 3 days or so. And during those 3 days, I am useless. I also take Seroquel and Lamictal as antidepressants - and Xanax for anxiety."

Armodafinil for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome "I have struggled significantly with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome since 2007. I am mid-30s. The CFS is much more debilitating than the fibromyalgia. Nuvigil has been the only treatment making a significant difference. I can now function much more than 3 hours a day. Nuvigil is changing my life."

Armodafinil for Obstructive Sleep Apnea/Hypopnea Syndrome "I was undiagnosed with severe obstructive sleep apnea/hypopnea syndrome for 10 years. I would sleep from 9 to 11 hours a night and was still tired. I also had terrible headaches whenever I woke up. I had surgery for a deviated septum and had my uvula removed. CPAP was a huge improvement, but I still woke up tired and foggy. I still had to nap during the day. My doctor and I fought for 2 years with the insurance company to get approved for Nuvigil. Without insurance, I would have to pay $719 per month for 30 pills (150 mg). With insurance, my copay is $50. Since taking Nuvigil, my life has changed for the better. I wake up without the fog and can stay active for 15 hours without taking a nap. Nuvigil gave me my life back!"

Armodafinil for ADHD "I went undiagnosed with severe ADHD for 20 years because another problem was complicating the diagnosis. I had been taking various energy drinks in an effort to concentrate. Just a few days ago, I was given a prescription for Nuvigil. Wow. This stuff hit me like a Mack truck! It was unlike anything I have ever experienced. For once, I actually had the drive and motivation to organize things and get things done. I immediately proceeded to straighten every single thing in my room, down to the last bits of lint on the carpet. I like the new me. I hope it lasts."

Armodafinil for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome "I had to fight with insurance to cover my Nuvigil but finally got them too. I have battled to get my hypothyroidism optimized for years, and even when I had it at a pretty good level, I was always tired. The doctor labeled it chronic fatigue, and the Nuvigil has made a huge difference. I feel like I can finally keep up with everybody else and don't have to stand up at the back of meetings at work to stay awake. Nuvigil did have some strong side effects at first (headache, nauseous, lack of appetite), but they were pretty much gone after a week or so."

For ADHD "Don't like and can't tolerate most ADHD meds, and normally I can harness and deal with my extreme ADHD without meds. Recently, I entered an extreme phase of high stress, which intensified my ADHD to the point I was only getting about an hour or two of work done in my daily computer programming job. Not good if you want to keep your job. Nuvigil/Armodafinil is so different! Took me right back to fully functional immediately and with no side effects or even any kind of physical awareness of taking it, if you know what I mean. No jitters, no anything. Just clarity and focus. VA ADHD counselor would not consider it for me. Outside ADHD counselor looked at it because I asked him to, agreed with me, and prescribed it. Insurance decided they would not cover it. But to keep my job, and considering how well it works, I pay full price for it."

Armodafinil for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome "I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and was prescribed Provigil, insurance denied coverage. Doctor then gave me samples of Nuvigil 150mg. WOW! What a difference, first couple of days a few heart racing minutes but then after that, it was great. Ran out so asked doctor to order at pharmacy, insurance denied again. When I take Nuvigil I can work all day and sleep just fine at night, instead of taking a 3-hour nap after school and then back to bed at 8 PM. I have so much energy, I take it at lunchtime, this way it won't wear off too soon. I have skipped days to make samples last and there is definitely a difference in my quality of life. Actually I HAVE A LIFE when I take Nuvigil."

Armodafinil for Narcolepsy "I found myself sleeping all day against my will, and it was depressing to be so unproductive. After I was accepted to vet school, I knew I needed to figure out why I was so tired all the time. I was diagnosed with narcolepsy without cataplexy. I immediately started Nuvigil in an attempt to get regulated before I started school. About a week in, I experienced anxiety and a racing heart on a few different days. My symptoms soon subsided, and I found my quality of life drastically improved. I take it in the morning before class, and I was able to stay awake all day with very little problem. I still have good days and bad, but my worst day is still better than my life before it. I am so thankful for my doctor and Nuvigil."

For Bipolar Disorder "I've had treatment-resistant depression for 25 years. Nothing worked. A theory was bipolar without mania - only depression. In the bipolar spectrum, I would rate 5 - family history with no mania, only depression. Long story short - Nuvigil saved my life. I could feel peace of mind, contentment, pleasure, increased social interaction, and libido. I've been taking Nuvigil for almost 3 years and have had to increase numerous times to the point where I take bigger doses. I've never had any side effects. Now my doctor won't increase my dose. Over the past year, I've watched myself gradually go downhill to the point where I've become socially isolated, can't feel pleasure, etc. The docs worry about side effects at a higher dose. Why can't anyone understand that no side effect is worse than having major depression?"

For ADHD "Armodafinil works wonders for my ADHD. Some anxiety symptoms in the late afternoon, which were relieved by exercising or getting up and going for a walk/hike (I have always had some anxiety, and this is the coping method that works for me). No irritability or otherwise problematic emotional symptoms. Did tank my appetite though, I found eating a little something at regular intervals made me realize I was indeed hungry, so I was able to eat normally but did have to monitor and make sure I was eating enough. Did have issues with light crashes in the afternoon, not as intense as those from Vyvanse/amphetamines, but still present. Felt sleepy, which was usually a plus at bedtime. Took as-needed about four days a week, some days I preferred to lay low when I didn't have pressing tasks to attend to."

Armodafinil for ADHD "Having been told over 12 years ago that I had ADHD, I have tried several medicines. The main one I used is Adderall 30 mg twice a day. This has proven very effective. Having tried both Provigil and Nuvigil, I believe Nuvigil to be the better of the two. None of the traditional side effects of speed, and Nuvigil is very clean. So much so, and I know this sounds goofy, but you don't even realize it's working until you shake your head and realize how focused, alert, and clear-thinking you have been."

Armodafinil for Narcolepsy "This medication takes time to get into and out of my system. The transitions are terrible for me. Lots of anxiety and scatterbrains. I am very emotional on this medication. When I am tired of the lump in my throat, I quit taking it. When I can't stay awake and my job is at risk, I try again. The end results are always the same. I don't want to do anything, go anywhere, and can't quit crying. The first time I took it, 2 months. The second time I took it, 5 months. And now I have been on it for 5 days and am calling it quits. It does not keep me awake. I get huge headaches. There is no reason to live for me while using this medication."

Armodafinil for Obstructive Sleep Apnea/Hypopnea Syndrome "Been on this RX since its release, prior to that Provigil. (I've also had 5 OSA corrective surgical operations that weren't mind-blowingly successful for 4+ months of downtime & in-and-out of the hospital with complications for a month.) I take 500 mg/day in 2 doses split by 5 hours, each dose with 20 mg Dexedrine. (Plus a 3rd 20 mg dose of Dex.) To be short, I couldn't have the energy to write this message, let alone work or at times even drive. For me, it's all about the timing of the doses, it took me years to find the RIGHT way to take this RX for ME. 250 didn't work, 2 different insurance companies approved 500. Be prepared to fight for approval, don't give up. I got used to hearing 'no' until I followed all insurance steps for complex approval."

For Drowsiness "Brand Nuvigil (150 mg) was remarkably effective in waking my brain and keeping me from sleeping all day. It was a life-changer for me for a few months until, for insurance reasons, I was given generic Armodafinil manufactured by Mylan. It was completely ineffective. My Dr. recommended an increase in dose to 1 1/2 tabs, then 2 tabs (300 mg) with absolutely no effectiveness, not even a side effect. There are similar reviews and reports of ineffectiveness well-documented by people all over the web about the Mylan Armodafinil generic. There is another manufacturer of generic Armodafinil-Teva. I had to call around to different pharmacies to find this generic, but it was well worth it as it is working for me. Interestingly, Teva also makes the brand name Nuvigil. Hmmm."

Armodafinil for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome "I am on Nuvigil now and have been for several months. I take the 250 mg tablets. Before Nuvigil, I took Provigil for over a year, and my doctor told me that Nuvigil was a new refined version of Provigil. They work great for a while; then your body gets used to it. I will go a day or two without it, and it seems to work better that way. My insurance did not want to pay for Provigil, so my doctor wrote a letter that it was imperative for my quality of life, so they started paying. When I switched to Nuvigil, nothing was ever said about it. It does make me more alert, but I can still lay down and take a nap while taking it. It is sure better than nothing, or I would be in bed 24/7 as before."
