I took zofran. i will ask dr to try prolia. Oh I am 69 diagnosed at 50 with osteoporosis but was always afraid of side effects..good luck.."

"I have been injecting Tymlos for a month now. I inject it at night about 30 minutes before bed. During the first two weeks I woke up with a headache which soon dissipated after 30 minutes or so. That’s the only side effect I’ve had. No dizziness, nausea, back pain, etc. I have always exercised regularly, including stretches in the morning and evening. I also drink a lot of water, so perhaps these habits have helped deter other side effects. The injections take a little getting used to, but they only a little uncomfortable. I hope Tymlos helps build up my bones."

"I am just finishing 2 years of Tymlos injections!! I had a recent bone density test and I have gone from osteoporosis level to osteopenia. I haven't met with my MD yet but from what I can tell in the report I have had a 19.1% increase in bone mineral density of the lumbar spine compared to the baseline exam . I have definitely experienced side effects with this drug but it has been manageable. One of the effects for me which no one else has complained of is loss of appetite. I can't wait to be done to see if it returns. My MD doesn't believe it is from the drug but the only way to know is to stop it and see if it improves. We almost considered this halfway through taking the drug but I decided I just didn't want to interrupt the process. I also do get a pounding heart beat/racing heart after I take it and I do have waves of nausea during the day from time to time. Now I have to try to maintain density increase. Next drug is Reclast."

"I experienced severe headaches 3-4 hours after each injection which actually woke me up every night. I also experienced upper abdominal pain. AND, after taking Tymlos for 1 month, my hair started falling out. I'm still trying to convince my doctor that I experienced all of these side effects. Especially since he wants me to switch to Forteo which has even MORE side effects."

"I've taken Tymlos for 1 1/2 months. I was reluctant to start, due to the many dire reviews I read here, so I want to let other potential users know that, aside from occasional bruising at an injection site, I've had no side effects. (Too soon to say if it's working.)"

"OMG . This drug Tymlos did a number on me. I have been off it over a week because I woke up after two weeks of vertigo and fatigue and cloudy urine and feeling just horrible with a trigger finger on my left thumb. Then the pain went up my arm to my shoulder and I couldn't lift my arm, then it went to both arms. Two weeks after I have stopped I am still waking up with a severe trigger finger. The pain is crazy in the mornings. Of course the doctor and the nurse who helped me said they had never heard of this side effect. I hope this is not permanent. But if it continues I will be doing a lot more investigation into any one else getting these crazy side effects."

"Horrendous itching all over my body, could only tolerate 1/2 the dose...ie, 40 mcg. Any increase in dose resulted in marked tachycardia (fast heart beat) that was uncomfortable. I also experienced considerable fatigue. None of the osteoporosis drugs are without significant side effects. No good options, very unfortunately, for those of us who suffer from this. Also, it takes awhile to get used to doing subQ injections the very weird way the company recommends...injecting directly at a 90 degree angle right into your abdominal skin. If you are thin, this is not the easiest thing to do. Definitely do NOT recommend this drug and I am a medical doctor myself."

"I have been on Tymlos for five months. I inject just before getting in bed to minimize feeling the side effects. I started having heart palpitations when I first started injecting it. Each month they lessened and now I don't have them at all. I had a pelvic stress fracture a year ago and a back compression fracture eight months ago. I didn't fall or have any type of accident. My bones just fractured. I've never had to inject myself before but it is very easy to do. The dosage is pre-measured. Couldn't be easier. I hope it is working. Still have a lot of pain from the fractures but went from a walker to a cane and sometimes in the house I don't need the cane. I can't rate this medicine because I don't know yet if it has made my bones stronger. Doctor will order a bone density test at my next appointment."

"Just began using my third pen. Was recommended using Tymlos 2-1/2 years ago but was fearful of the side effects. After a recent dexa scan my numbers had not changed after trying it my way (bone strengthening supplements and exercise). Numbers were still bad -4.9+. I’m a hiker and walker and very active so decided it was time. So far the only side effect is an occasional rise is heart rate. A slight headache during my first week and recently occasional bone pain in different areas of my body that come and go. Have had a bit of nausea over the last week but unsure if it’s from the Tymlos or bioidentical hormones I was recently prescribed. For me, the side effects have not been so bad that I’m willing to risk discontinuing. I need to rebuild bone and this is the choice I have. I use the full dose of 80mg every morning, easy to inject, relax for a bit and then proceed thru my day."

"I am just about finished with my second pen. I switched to injecting at bed time because of side effects and that has worked well. I do get the dizziness and palpitations. During the day I do experience fatigue and brain fog but seems to be lessening. I have fractured 3 vertebrae and have a score of -4.3 in my spine so I am planning on staying on it."

"On Tymlos for 1 month. Won’t make 2 years on this med. Probably only another month then switching to Prolia even though I know it doesn’t build bone. With Tymlos the constant headache, palpitations, nausea are very unsettling. However the bone/muscle pains the last few days have been the last straw. Can’t sleep. Can’t get comfortable."

"I took this drug for two years, with absolutely no side effects. The daily injection was easy. My density scores increased. Unfortunately, I had to stop after two years, and am unable to take anything else because I have loss of bone in my jaw that would worsen with the usual meds. But if you can start on this, I would definitely consider it."

"I took my first shot of Tymlos today and experienced horrible back spasms right away after the injection. They literally took my breath away. I almost made a U turn and went straight back to the doctor but managed to drive home. Now I have a headache. I normally do not ever have back pain of any kind and rarely have headaches. I did report these side effects to the doctor and he said to try and take the daily injections for two weeks. Guess I will see how injection #2 goes. Thank you to the person that reported these exact same symptoms."

"I am completing 21 months of Tymlos injections for osteoporosis. I take my injection just before bed. I have had some reactions but nothing I can't live with. Some racing of the heart periodically but it settles quickly, some nausea especially at first, and on the days I am a bit foggy and I just say I am having a "cloudy day". All in all the minimal side effects do not compare to my hope for living the fullest life I can. I also saw that there is a Tymlos Savings Card (and also financial assistance but with my Tymlos Savings card and Insurance) I have not paid anything out of pocket for the injection pens, needle caps, alcohol pads, etc. My co-pay after Insurance was $900 a month."

"I took it for 8 months and I gained bone mass in my low spine and a little bit in my hip. I went from osteoporosis to osteopenia again. Then I took an infusion that lasted a year. I don't think I suffered from the infusion. I had some problems with the Tymlos like a buzzy feeling right after I injected it, but I'm not sure if my other maladies were caused by Tymlos. I do recommend it for some. I'm trying to decide whether to take Evenity, which seems to have even more side effects. The doc recommends one year of Evenity and then another infusion, and then I'm done for the rest of my life. I can also choose to take Tymlos again. Hard choices. I'm 69."

"I am just now starting my 4th month. I don’t have any serious side effects; however I was already being treated for heart palpitations so that may be why! I do get tired during the day. Sometimes I feel like I can ‘feel my bones’. My problems areas include my spine -4.7 and my hip. I plan to have a bone scan after 6 months to see if there’s been progress. If not, I’ll need to make a decision of whether or not to continue. I takes my injections in the morning."

"I've been taking Tymlos for about 6 weeks. The pain in my legs and hands is problematic, but I'd rather not ever again experience multiple compression fractures. My DEXA does not indicate osteoporosis, just osteopenia. I do have advanced degenerative disc disease and several collapsed vertebrae. My neurosurgeon and rheumatologist want me to strengthen my vertebrae before doing any surgeries. I also have fibromyalgia and chronic pancreatitis. Because of endometriosis, I had a complete hysterectomy at 32 years old. I did HRT only for the first two years. I am now 68 years old and plan to push through the challenging side effects of Tymlos. I may need to modify frequency or dosage, but will persevere."

"I have been prescribed Tymlos prior to upcoming hip replacement surgery. My first dosage was today. Slight headache, a bit of back pain and some fatigue. My surgeon says Tymlos and Forteo the only drugs that lay down strong bone. The others such as Prolia, Fosomax … generate weak bones, hence the easy breaks while on them. I will continue to take Tymlos as long as I can afford it to build strong bone before and after my surgery. I have had one osteoporosis involved fracture, a year ago, when I fell and broke my pelvis. Not fun. We will see if this helps."

"I was on Tymlos for about 5 weeks — I gave it a good try. I had to inject at night before bed because of the palpitations and nausea — but then I dreaded going to bed. The main symptom that has bothered me so much and still is after being off it for a week is bone pain, which I did not have before. It wakes me up at night. I hope it goes away. I’ll be starting Prolia soon and hope to have fewer side effects."

"I have been using Tymlos 5 months & started out at only 1/2 dose '4' clicks. Tried to raise dose every week, but when I got to '6' clicks brain fog, dizziness, & exhaustion were too overwhelming, had difficulty walking & driving a car. So went down to '5' clicks for last 2 months. Even this low dose I am exhausted, needing naps every day. Now on 5th month pain in lower back is excruciating! I need a heating pad in the morning in order to be able to roll over, stand up & walk. In addition, I have started to develop severe leg cramps at night that persist through the daytime. A nightmare. I am in communication with my Doctor, we will see how this goes from here."

"Six Tymlos injections so far at half dose (4 clicks). First day side effects were just feeling odd. Trouble sleeping on night 2. With the first few injections, there were hot flashes, shocks, and pains that quickly moved around my body. Also headaches that lasted about 20 hours and muscle pains as if I'd been in a car accident. I wondered if the benefits could outweigh the sense that my body was being poisoned. After the fourth dose, things started calming down some. The most persistent effect is a tolerable pain in my lower left back that began with the first injection and hasn't gone away yet. I was told to ramp up the dose from half (4 clicks) to 5 clicks on the 5th night. Not wanting more bad side effects, I have put that off. The PA who prescribed indicated that some people can't tolerate going up from a half dose. If that's me, I wonder, will half a dose do any good for my bones? Or will I inject myself and go through side effects for 2 years for no benefit?"

"Just started second Tymlos pen for osteoporosis. Side effects after injection (which start 15 min or so after) lasted 3.5-4.0 hours initially, down to 15-20 minutes now. Initial side effects: “Drugged like feeling” (lightheaded, dizzy, brain fog, out of it) Fatigue Heart pounding Other side effects that linger daily: Initial severe bone pain which has slowly decreased. Vertigo which is still present Fatigue Weight gain Brain fog. Due to my career and safety role, I have been out of work on std, due to the above side effects. As they are lessening, they are still present which may cause me to end use of this drug."

"I’m two weeks into my second pen. The side effects have been surprisingly mild. Noticed an increased heart rate for a bit, and lately, foot and leg cramps becoming a thing. Completely manageable and worth it if it helps with severe osteoporosis diagnosis. Injections are going well. My rheumatologist told me I can also inject it into my thigh."
