Can I take somas with tramadol?

I currently was prescribed 50ml of tramadol but its not wworking. I have somas but not sure if i can mix them, i also take paxil, depakote, pls help

How does tramadol work?

I know it's for pain but does it just numb you so you don't feel pain or does it ease the pain. For example: If you take it and lets just say someone cuts you would it hurt less?
