I am just about to start Buspirone and my initial dose is 5mg daily for a week and then 5mg twice daily afterwards - when anyone has started on a once daily dose - when did you take it? Is it best when you get up or before bed please?
When to take Buspirone - one dose, morning or night?

I would recommend taking it in the morning. When you get up to two doses, take them 12 hours apart. My understanding, after being on this medication since 2001, is that it takes awhile to build up to a therapeutic level in the body. For some that can be 3-4 weeks. I’ve found taking 15mg every 8 hours works best for me. I’m saying this so you don’t give up on it too soon if you don’t notice immediate results. I think another key to success is taking doses spread evenly apart throughout the day. You’re on a great starting dose with a good plan to increase the dose. We are all different, and I hope this helps. Good luck to you!
Thank you Alpha! I’ll do as you suggest
Hi, Stresshead!
You may have to experiment because buspirone can cause drowsiness in about 10% of users but it can also cause insomnia in some people.
I started in the morning just because that's when I take most of my medications and I had no problem with it at all. I guess percentage wise there's a 90% chance that you won't either.
Best regards and I hope it works as well for you as it does for me.
