Serious side effects of bexagliflozin
Along with its needed effects, bexagliflozin may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.
Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur while taking bexagliflozin:
More common side effects
- bladder pain
- bloody or cloudy urine
- difficult, burning, or painful urination
- frequent urination
- increased urge to urinate during the night
- increased volume of pale, dilute urine
- itching of the vagina or genitals
- lower back or side pain
- thick, white vaginal discharge with mild or no odor
- trouble in holding or releasing urine
- walking to urinate at night
Less common side effects
- anxiety
- blurred vision
- chills
- cold sweats
- coma
- confusion
- cool, pale skin
- depression
- dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from lying or sitting position
- dry mouth
- fast heartbeat
- feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
- foul smelling discharge from the penis
- headache
- increase in heart rate
- increased hunger
- itching in genital or other skin areas
- nausea
- nervousness
- nightmares
- pain in the skin around the penis
- rapid breathing
- rash of the penis
- redness, itching, or swelling of the penis
- scaling
- seizures
- sensation of spinning
- shakiness
- slurred speech
- sunken eyes
- thirst
- unusual tiredness or weakness
- wrinkled skin
Incidence not known
- agitation
- flushed, dry skin
- fruit-like breath odor
- hostility
- irritability
- lethargy
- loss of consciousness
- muscle twitching
- pain, tenderness, redness, or swelling of the area between the anus and genitals
- stomach pain
- stupor
- sweating
- swelling of the face, ankles, or hands
- trouble breathing
- unexplained weight loss
- vomiting
Other side effects of bexagliflozin
Some side effects of bexagliflozin may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects.

- blistering, crusting, irritation, itching, or reddening of the skin
- cracked, dry, or scaly skin

Most common adverse reactions with an incidence of 5% or greater were female genital mycotic infection, urinary tract infection and increased urination.[Ref]

- Common (1% to 10%): Thirst[Ref]
Genitourinary
- Common (1% to 10%): Female genital mycotic infection, male genital mycotic infection, vaginal pruritus[Ref]
Metabolic
- Common (1% to 10%): Hypoglycemia, volume depletion[Ref]
Other
Renal
- Common (1% to 10%): Increased urination, urinary tract infection[Ref]
