What is citric acid and sodium bicarbonate?

Citric acid and sodium bicarbonate is an antacid that neutralizes stomach acid.

Citric acid and sodium bicarbonate is used to relieve heartburn, indigestion, sour stomach, and upset stomach symptoms.

Before taking this medicine

You should not use citric acid and sodium bicarbonate if you are allergic to it.

Tell your doctor if you have or have ever had:

citric acid and sodium bicarbonate contains phenylalanine and could be harmful if you have phenylketonuria (PKU).

Ask a doctor before using this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

How should I take citric acid and sodium bicarbonate?

Use exactly as directed on the label, or as prescribed by your doctor.

Dissolve 2 effervescent tablets in at least 4 ounces of water. Stir and drink right away. Add more water to the glass, swirl and drink.

Adults and children over 12 should not take more than 8 effervescent tablets per day, and people over 60 should not take more than 4 effervescent tablets daily.

Stop using citric acid and sodium bicarbonate and call your doctor if your symptoms do not improve after taking the maximum dose for 2 weeks.

Ask a doctor before giving this medicine to children below 12 years of age.

Store at room temperature away from moisture, heat, and light. Keep out of the reach of children.

What happens if I miss a dose?

Citric acid and sodium bicarbonate is used when needed. If you are on a dosing schedule, skip any missed dose. Do not use two doses at one time.
