For Depression "The day I took Trintellix, I felt my throat open up. I felt the effects of it almost immediately. It has changed my life. I have taken other antidepressants and they only made me feel so terrible with vomiting and feeling so down. I was hesitant to try anything else, yet my amazing doctor, who I trust dearly, told me how effective Trintellix has been for anxiety, although it is commonly used for depression. Changed my life. Highly recommend. P.S. My doctor reassured me that Trintellix would be the right drug for me if I had no side effects. That’s why I trusted to try it. If you’re having side effects, it’s not the right drug for you, and you should commit to trying other meds until you find the right fit. The right fit may take several tries, yet I promise and can reassure you, it will change your life for the better. Trust in the process and commit to finding the right fit with the help and surveillance of your doctor. You won’t regret it."

For Depression "I had tried for about 18+ months to find a medicine that would help my depression. I bottomed out and was contemplating suicide. My doc prescribed me Trintellix. I noticed a difference the very first day. I was skeptical at first, but I got better and better as the days went on. I had a few occasions of nausea, and even vomited once, but that all went away after about a month. Trintellix saved my life, literally."

For Depression "I just started two days on this drug. I was told to take it with food in the morning to stop nausea. First day my stomach was upset but no vomiting. Today I took it after I ate and within an hour or so I vomited so badly my throat is completely sore. Is this normal? This is such an expensive drug, even with insurance I paid almost $200. I don’t want to discontinue the use just yet but I am not sure I can handle the nausea and vomiting. Anyone else having these same issues?"

For Depression "This medication changed my whole life. It's expensive, but I've tried a grand total of 6 other antidepressants before this one came along, so I think it's worth every penny. The manufacturer offers additional coverage as well, which knocks down my price $100. I will say that the first 3 weeks of this medication were absolutely the worst. I stuck through it, although I was tempted to stop it, and I'm glad I did. I recommend when you first start Trintellix to take it literally right before you go to sleep so you can sleep through most of the side effects. I initially took it in the mornings, and I would spend the next 2-3 hours vomiting on and off. It wasn't fun! But now I'm feeling very rewarded. It is so strange to not be sad all the time! I feel like I'm living for the first time in my life."

For Depression "This drug has been the best antidepressant/anti-anxiety medication I have ever been on. I have been off and on different medications for the past 10 years. (Prozac, Wellbutrin, Cipralex) The first 2 weeks on this medication were rough with nausea and vomiting. My doctor encouraged me to push through the first two weeks, which I did. After 2 weeks, the nausea went away and I haven't had any side effects since. It's the first medication I have felt a notable difference with. My anxiety is very low. No more tightening chest, vomiting, diarrhea, not being able to breathe when in a situation that would previously make me anxious. Only butterflies in my stomach now. I have never felt better in my life. Very optimistic. Is this what normal feels like."

For Depression "I have been on Trintellix 10 mg for a week. I noticed something after an hour. My mouth got a strange taste and then vomited. I felt awful after that, so I laid down for a few hours. That night I felt different. My mind was clear, and I was in a mood where I felt like speaking to other people (a rare occasion). After that, I took it on an empty stomach. Still had the strange taste but no vomiting. I have been more upbeat and haven't really wanted to take my Adderall. I also have noticed that I'm not eating as much. I still get hungry but just eat a lot less. We shall see!! :)"

For Depression "I have a history of situational depression spanning 25 years. After a breast cancer diagnosis, treatment, and recovery, and a death in the family, I found that my 300 mg of Wellbutrin was not helping as much as it used to. I added Trintellix, and wow... it's a new game. The first few weeks I dealt with side effects like nausea and constipation and didn't feel much different. But after it built up, I feel so good!!! Happier, patient with my kids, less of the obsessive thoughts and general sadness. I can't fully explain it, but I just feel better, more upbeat and positive, and better able to handle what is going on. I take it at night right before bed because it does make me nauseous and made me vomit twice in two months. I also bruise easily and have started taking Senna to help the constipation side effect, which I am having. Trintellix is expensive, but the Takeda savings card takes it to $75/month for me, which is, in my opinion, worth it. I feel like a very happy version of myself, and thank goodness for that."

For Depression "Started Trintellix in a very low dose. Seemed to help. After 3 months, didn’t seem to help at all. Increased my dose, then the vomiting, weight gain went crazy! Had to leave work several times because of vomiting. I am a nurse in a very busy emergency department. Grateful they didn’t fire me! Then the weight gain - up 20 lbs! They claimed, “no significant effect on weight.” Lying! Never again. Weaned off. I’ll deal with being sad!"

For Major Depressive Disorder "It was very difficult titrating up to 20 mg of Trintellix. I started at 5 mg one week, 10 mg the next week, 15 mg the following week until I reached 20 mg. The nausea, vomiting, and dizziness were almost unbearable, I missed 2 days each week for a month while starting it. Thankfully I was on FMLA and was able to muscle through it. I have been through almost every SSRI, SNRI, etc., and nothing but electroconvulsive therapy worked for me. After the first week on Trintellix, I felt happy for the first time, actually happy, which is why I muscled through the side effects. I have been on it for a year now, and it is a miracle pill. Make it through the first month, and all side effects go away."

For Depression "I've been on Trintellix for 10 weeks now, roughly. I was on 5mg for a while, now on ten. At first, the nausea was unbearable, and all it really did was stop me from getting overwhelmingly sad as often, but now I've found that I'm more outgoing and capable of trying my best even in uncomfortable situations. The nausea is still there, but it becomes super tolerable, and Gravol is a lifesaver. The only time it became a problem is when I was sick, I vomited non-stop. I had bronchitis, so apparently the throat pain mixed with nausea was to blame. Still, overall, Trintellix has done wonders for my mental health, and I'm hoping the majority of others can agree or find another medication that will do for you what Trintellix has done for me."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I have been on 10 mg Trintellix for nine weeks. I also take Risperidone and Buspirone. I was on Viibryd before I started this drug. I have had MDD for 24 years and have been on many antidepressants. Trintellix is by far the best I've been on. I had a little bit of nausea and vomiting, but really no side effects other than that. The side effects went away after the first three days. Trintellix has regulated my sleep and given me so much more energy and zest for life."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I am on 10mg of Trintellix, and have been for approximately 2 years. This med is a miracle worker for me. I am more stable than I have ever been. However, as a result, I experience severe nausea as well as projectile vomiting. If taken after a large meal, it is not as bad. Within the hour after taking the medication, I either feel like I am going to vomit or barely have time to make it to the toilet before vomiting. This is the one negative of this medication, so I have had to choose to deal with this in order to keep the positive outcome in dealing with my MDD. My whole life has changed since starting Trintellix. Vomiting and nausea are a small price compared to just not living."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I had severe nausea. I would take Trintellix every morning, and within one hour after taking this medication, I was vomiting severely. It went on for a couple of months, and I had to be changed back to Lexapro! I was so disappointed because it made me feel better. Even after I would vomit, I was okay, so in order to keep taking the medication, I had to be put on and take Zofran every day. I didn't feel it was worth it, so I switched back to Lexapro. Has anyone else had these side effects? What should I do? Please help me out! Thanks."

For Depression "Worst experience ever! The doctor says to push through nausea... yeah, not happening! Vomiting violently 20-30 mins after taking one 5 mg pill! Nausea, dizziness, and many other symptoms worsened throughout the week. On day 6 and giving up now. Never have I been so violently sick (vomit) in my whole life! I would NOT recommend it to anyone!"

For Major Depressive Disorder "After 2+ months on Trintellix (10 mg), I am weaning myself off as quickly as possible. The side effects have been almost unbearable for me and my family. Daily feelings of nausea and frequent vomiting were bad enough, but the significant irritability and difficulty getting a deep breath were increasing and were the final straw for me! I ended up in the ER 3 weeks ago because I was struggling to get a deep breath. After thorough testing, it was determined nothing was wrong. A deep search on Trintellix side effects made it clear the problem was this medication. I am now taking it every other day until next week when I meet with my doctor. I hope no one else responds to this drug as badly as I did! Take care! I definitely received no improvement in my depression and only major side effects that I can't live with."

For Depression "I was on Brintellix for a short time while trying to transition from Lexapro. Unfortunately, it was just not the drug for me. I had terrible nausea that never went away, as well as vomiting. Brintellix didn't really do anything for my anxiety, either, and I definitely noticed symptoms of that again. By the time I stopped taking it, my depression was actually worse, but I think it didn't help that I was feeling so bad physically. If you already have digestive issues, this might not be the med for you."

For Depression "My Dr. began me on 10 mg of Trintellix on Aug 6. As of Aug 7, I vomited violently every morning and had diarrhea as well. Sometimes both at the same time. Nasty. Nausea persisted through the day, making eating virtually impossible until dinner time. By Aug 21, I was so irritable I became mean. I couldn't stop verbally berating my husband. It was awful. I began taking the pill at night to escape the GI side effects. I escaped the vomiting but still had gas, bloating, and loose stool. As of today, I still have nausea and loose stool. My Dr. increased my dose to 20 mg on Aug 29. I think it finally started working on Sept 12. I feel like 'me' again. Fingers crossed! As I live in Canada and have drug coverage through work, I am fortunate to not have to pay out of pocket for this med."

For Major Depressive Disorder "Trintellix was excellent at reducing my anxiety. At my most anxious times, it would make me feel like it was just another day. My life is super stressful caring for a dying parent, so any relief from feeling constantly anxiety-ridden was so helpful. HOWEVER, the side effects outweigh the benefits. I would often feel nauseated and throw up. I got involuntary muscle spasms that have still not gone away 2 months later. I could still enjoy intercourse, but I was never aroused. It also made me feel like I had an eating disorder. When I was hungry, I was HUNGRY. I would overeat and consume WAY too much - especially sugar. I gained like 15-20 lbs on Trintellix and had to be put on blood pressure medication for the first time in my life. Ultimately, my doctor decided it wasn't in my best interest to continue using it. When I got off of Trintellix, I felt like a cloud had been lifted. I felt happier and could feel emotions again. I've also lost some of the weight I put on from using it."

For Depression "This is my second month on 10 mg daily Brintellix. I'll start by saying that I'm 18 and suffer from major depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, ADHD, and PTSD. I take this every day along with 50 mg Vyvanse to help with my ADHD. I have to say that the combination of these medications has helped me tremendously in just the month that I've added Brintellix. I no longer have panic attacks daily, I don't cry all the time anymore, I don't feel hopeless or isolated, I don't feel negative constantly anymore, and I honestly feel like I'm more of myself again. The only issue I have is that I vomit daily, my nausea can get intense, and some days I tend to lay around more than usual. The vomiting can get really bad for me, however. It worries me sometimes."

For Depression "Trying a med change after being on Effexor + Lamotrigine for 10 years. I did the very slow weaning off of Effexor and the 2 weeks on 5 mg Trintellix to 10 mg. The nausea was bad and consistent, though my body is tolerant of just about everything. I experienced some burping also, which is very unusual for me. One day, I took 10 mg Trintellix with Lamotrigine and only coffee. I have never vomited so violently and for so long. I experienced nausea for about a half-hour almost every time I took the med with food. Frequently, what followed was a gnawing in my stomach that seemed to cause a strong urge to eat protein foods. I noticed an increase in blunt/abrasive behavior with family and co-workers. My doc urged me to back down to 5 mg and push through the negative symptoms. The issues persisted over the next two months and my wife repeatedly asked me to change meds."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I noticed a great improvement in my depression soon after introducing Brintellix to my other meds (Latuda, Lamictal, Xanax, Doxepin, Adderall). I also noticed it causes me nausea and vomiting! But I really like this one... hate that it makes me sick! Someone recommended putting it in peanut butter, and I think I'll try that because it works really well for me! I've taken my son out like every day, I couldn't be a 'good' mom before Brintellix! Like, seriously, I have never felt better! Vomiting sucks, though, I hate it... really hope peanut butter trick works!"

For Major Depressive Disorder "My doctor did a swab test on me to find the medication with the best reaction to my DNA, and Trintellix was on that list. I took 5 mg pills for a week and then had to go onto 10 mg after that. As soon as I started, I noticed really awful nausea I’d get after taking the pill, and it would last all day. Once I started taking 10 mg, not only did the nausea get worse, but I started vomiting everything I put in my stomach. It got so bad I ended up going to the ER to get fluids in me. I have heard good things about Trintellix, but wow, it really has not been good for me."

For Depression "On 20 mg for about two months with no concrete signs of improving depression/anxiety. Dr. told me to just stop taking it as I hadn't been on it very long, so I didn't need to taper off. After not taking any dose for 3 days, I woke up in the middle of the night with excruciating stomach pain and vomited off and on for hours. Absolutely horrible. I also think there could be a negative interaction between this drug and Concerta. Just my own personal experience. I hope this drug works for you! If not, there are hundreds of others that will."

For Depression "Tried Trintellix for major depressive disorder. Started at 10 mg a day and after two months went up to 20 mg. Awful experiences. Had been fine when taking it with food, then one day took it without food. Big mistake. Thought I was going to die. Vomiting and rapid heartbeat. Survived it, but for me anyway, must always be taken with food. Been on it for close to three months and mentally feel worse than ever. It has magnified the things that have depressed me for years. I can't stop focusing on the negative. Considering stopping it."
