Vortioxetine for Major Depressive Disorder "I took this drug for 4 weeks. I had failed a four-week trial of Lexapro, which I was placed on after 12 years on Effexor, a drug that totally stopped working for me about a year ago. I was queasy for the entire time I was on Trintellix. I threw up several times. I received no discernible benefit from this medication and stopped taking it abruptly. That may not be the wisest course, and I don’t necessarily recommend it. But I became fed up with the queasiness. Initially, I felt a lot better, and my energy returned. Now, ten days out, I have had a few spells of flu-like symptoms. I feel that I received no therapeutic benefit from this drug."

Vortioxetine for Depression "I tried Trintellix because SSRIs didn't help, and I had too many side effects from Wellbutrin. Trintellix helped a little; I felt a little better than I did on Zoloft, but for the most part, it turned me into a couch potato. I could spend entire days laying on the couch, half paying attention to the TV. I had no motivation, and I was still depressed, so I quit after a few months. I tapered slowly, but the withdrawals sucked worse than any other med I've quit before. I had the shakes, vomiting, and uncontrollable urges to move around, so I pretty much writhed around in bed and vomited into a bag for days. Not worth it for me."

Vortioxetine for Depression "The 1st week on Trintellix was fine, no problems. The next two weeks I had vomiting and severe diarrhea. I went off the med after 3 weeks. It's been 3 weeks since I discontinued Trintellix and I still have liquid stools. I see the doc in 4 days."

Vortioxetine for Major Depressive Disorder "I started Trintellix for treatment-resistant depression (MDD) exactly one week ago today. I took 5 mg for 6 days and titrated to 10 mg today. I have vomited every single day, various times throughout the day. No gradual buildup of nausea, just vomiting, particularly after I smoke a cigarette. Needless to say, I’m rarely smoking."

For Depression "I took Trintellix for 3 days and ended up in the hospital. The vomiting was so bad, muscle pain, dizziness, migraines. By the end of the 3rd day, I was so confused and out of it my family called 911. It has been 3 days off it now, and I am just starting to feel human again. Proceed with caution."

Vortioxetine for Major Depressive Disorder "Just started the medication Trintellix at 5 mg for depression, and it has been my worst experience yet with antidepressants. Side effects are insomnia, vomiting, incontinence, flu-like symptoms. I will not be continuing the medication."

For Depression "When I started vortioxetine, I had severe esophagus pain and severe ear pain. I thought I was having a heart attack. I nearly went to emerg. I had attacks like this for about 2 months. I also had indigestion, and I never get that, and I threw up a few times. I had headaches for a few months, which I normally don't get. However, though I had all this physical discomfort, my mood improved, and I started socializing again. Along with an improvement in mood, my cognition improved, and my concentration as well. I don't believe any drug is going to solve life's difficulties, but vortioxetine is definitely helping out."

For Major Depressive Disorder "Started taking vortioxetine (Brintellix) for MDD a little more than a year ago, daily dose of 10 mg. Starting up, I experienced reduced anxiety after the first week or so. I've experienced increased cognitive ability, close to what I felt like before I got sick. My sleep pattern stabilized within three weeks, went from hypomania (sleeping 12+ hours every night and napping throughout the day) to sleeping 6-8 hours every night. All in all, the drug has worked very well for me. My sex drive remains, but like many others, I do experience nausea and occasionally vomiting. However, this only occurs for about 30-60 minutes after taking my daily dose. Avoid caffeine and alcohol (!), to lessen side effects."

For Depression "I have been recommended vortioxetine because this drug, as I was told, has almost zero side effects. For me, it didn't work, I had to combine it with other meds (tiapridal & fluanxol). I have used it for about 5 months and plan to go on to another meds, as it really doesn't help with my severe anxiety. It helped in a way with depression, though. Also, it's pricey and hard to find (I'm not from the USA). It made me vomit in the mornings. Maybe for someone who has mild depression and anxiety, it could help."

For Depression "This drug works miraculously well for my social anxiety disorder, considerably alleviating a social anxiety condition caused by traumatic brain injury. Tried several other drugs and supplements before that were useless, but this one started working within days. But the nausea side effects make it almost bad enough to quit. Taking it after eating, I feel sick for 20-30 minutes. Taking it on an empty stomach, borderline to vomiting for 20-30 minutes. An inadvertent but beneficial side effect, it may improve cognition. A meta-analysis of clinical trials which assessed cognitive effects of depression treatments found that this drug improved psychomotor speed by 16% and delayed recall (memory assessment) by 24% (P"

For Major Depressive Disorder "One week in on vortioxetine, and I've had none of the side effects as reported by reviewers, i.e., nausea and vomiting. This is rare for me, as I usually get all of the obscure, random side effects from antidepressants. Am taking Brintellix 10 mg with Lexapro 40 mg for severe depression. Too early to tell, but my husband states my speech is not so muffled (I didn't know it was!). Really hope this drug works like it should, as I am tired of constantly changing ADs."

For Depression "Take my comment with a grain of salt. And take into consideration I only took this for 3-4 days, 10 mg tabs alongside Circadin 2 mg. As long as I took it with food, I found no nausea or vomiting. Took at night time, however, I would find the next morning and most of the next day to have diarrhea or loose stools every time I ate food. But my side effect, which made me stop taking it, was on the 3rd night of taking it. I woke up at 4 a.m. and went into a panic attack and semi-passed out, and for days after, my anxiety was pretty high, which I didn't have going into taking these meds. Also, I had a cup of coffee whilst on this stuff, and being a former drug addict, I have some idea of what drugs feel like, and this stuff mixed with coffee made me BUZZ like a low dose of speed without the visual impairment. I'm sure for others it works fine, but for me I got off straight away. Still waiting for the anxiety to leave my system, and I'm on day 5-36 hours after the last pill and 30 hours since the panic attack."

For Depression "First time I took it at 10 mg, was nauseated and vomited within 15 min. I then had to come off Effexor, then start again with ginger. I can keep it down, but a bit of nausea. Frankly, I'd rather be depressed than nauseated."

For Major Depressive Disorder "Brintellix has significantly improved my mood. I am thinking clearer and more positively. Those who know me well say I’m becoming myself again. It improved my quality of sleep (still room for improvement, though). Although I feel sluggish for the first few hours of awakening, then my energy levels improve significantly, and I don’t need my naps anymore! Amazing. It causes me significant nausea every morning, I vomit 2-3 times per week. I was thin already and have now lost 4 kg because of the nausea and loss of appetite. While this medication definitely improved my depression, it did not help my anxiety."

For Depression "The nausea and vomiting side effects were unbearable. I now cannot eat pretzels again because that’s what I would eat when taking it, and every time I eat it now, I'm reminded of the horrific nausea. It didn’t help my anxiety. I lost 10 pounds from the nausea."

For Major Depressive Disorder "Worst medication ever! Every time I was taking vortioxetine, I wanted to vomit! Severe headaches, constipation, and no appetite at all! It didn't help with my anxiety nor with my depression. I was taking it for 7 months with no positive results! Try older ones like Remeron, which is way better!"

For Major Depressive Disorder "I have found this new medication helpful. I switched from 40 mg Citalopram due to unwanted side effects (very tired in the afternoon, unable to concentrate). It has generally made my mood better, however, I keep suffering from nausea, which often results in vomiting. The doctor has now prescribed me Cyclizine Hydrochloride (50 mg 3x a day) to help with the sickness."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I started this medicine in April 2017 after coming off of Zoloft (250 mg/day) wanting to try something new, and the Zoloft wasn't really cutting it anymore after being on it for years. My doctor recommended this medicine, and around the same time, I was having stomach ulcer issues, so I didn't contribute the nausea I've been having to this medicine. I'm on 20 mg/day, and I vomit daily from the severe nausea. I've lost almost 10 lbs in the past month from vomiting almost every time I eat, anywhere from an hour to 5 hours after I eat something. DAILY. I've had tests run on my stomach, and everything has come back normal, so now I am thinking it is this medicine making me so sick, especially after reading so many bad reviews on it for this reason."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I'm on my second-to-last dose of a two-week trial on Brintellix 10 mg. I'm no worse, but no better, I'm indifferent. I'm 36 years old and have suffered major depressive disorder since 13 years old. I've been through 26 rounds of ECT and countless antidepressants. I'm a diagnosed medical excreter, so meds only work for short periods before I drop severely. Ritalin's been the only thing that continues to help. I was put in trial at the Black Dog Institute 3 years ago for it, but felt like I was on a never-ending roller coaster. They changed me to the slow release Concerta, which has been better. Brintellix makes me vomit, itch, stars in my eyes (sometimes), but I'll give it more time. Edronax, clomipramine, Lexapro, Effexor, fluoxetine, Dothep, and heaps more don't work."

For Depression "Tried to cross-taper from escitalopram to vortioxetine while also taking mirtazapine for sleep. Horrible experience. Felt so out of it, somehow lost contact to my speech! Like I would think I needed to speak, but no words came out, and had to extremely focus and try to get some words out (to ring my boyfriend because I was vomiting at the train station from it). Awful! Hope it's out of my system soon. Had great mood for two days, though, until this awful out-of-it, disconnected from myself and world feeling started and felt like my depression was coming back as well, although that could have been cause of lowering the escitalopram."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I really wanted this to work. I have MDD, OCD, and panic disorder. I took Celexa, Zoloft, then Paxil. Celexa worked at first. Both the others did nothing to control my anxiety and contributed to weight gain. My doctor suggested this. I started at 10 mg. I threw up multiple times a day for a week. Then I upped it to 15 mg. I threw up even more. I was throwing up just brushing my teeth in the morning. I couldn't eat or drink anything because it would make me sick. I lost the ability to taste (everything had a metallic taste to it). Finally, I ended up in the ER. I ended up with my first kidney stone. The doctor felt it was caused by dehydration from constant vomiting and lack of eating and drinking."

For Depression "Great drug. I sleep better, my moods are better, but there is one side effect that is making me want to stop that, the nausea, sometimes making me vomit almost every day. Also, I have become a very gagging individual, which I have never been before. Taken it for over 8 weeks... still get waves of sickness."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I took the medicine for a total of 3 months. I quit gradually, just as I increased gradually. I took it at night, often I felt dizzy and nauseous. Some nights I even had to run to the washroom to vomit. I didn't feel any improvement, probably because I didn't take it for long enough."

For Depression "Tried everything to make this medication work so I didn't have to go through the withdrawals and start another medication, but I just can't do it. I have been on this medication for about 6 months, and I keep waiting for the severe nausea and vomiting to stop, and it hasn't. I have tried taking this medication before good, after food, alternating times of different medications, taking Zantac before to try to settle my stomach, nothing works. I always have severe nausea about an hour after taking this, and most of the time end up vomiting for most of the night. It hasn't helped with the anxiety much either."
