Rinvoq (upadacitinib) for Atopic Dermatitis "I’ve been taking Rinvoq for roughly 4 months to treat my severe atopic dermatitis. I have finally decided to call my Dermatologist tomorrow to stop taking it due to severe acne it is causing me. I tried to stick it out but I’ve noticed the acne getting worse daily. The skin damage from the acne it’s causing me is much more damaging than the atopic dermatitis. It definitely helped with my original problem but has lowered my self esteem immensely. The type of acne it has caused for me is not the normal type. I’m not exactly sure what it is but it will not heal and is creating holes in my skin."

Rinvoq (upadacitinib) for Ankylosing Spondylitis "I have tried Enbrel, Humira, methotrexate, etc, and finally Rinvoq. At first, I had a positive response and started to feel much better but then after 8-10 weeks the 3-4+ pitting edema became unbearable and the shortness of breath was downright frightening coupled with total exhaustion. I was unable to maintain my daily routine and functioning. I had all of the signs and symptoms of congestive heart failure. It finally got to the point that I had such labored breathing my cardiologist and others were very concerned - and this was two weeks post-stopping Rinvoq. My afib was having a field day and I felt awful all of the time. At this point, I am three weeks out from stopping the Rinvoq and am wondering how long this will continue until my system has cleared this medication. It is black-boxed for cardiac amongst other things and this warning should be seriously taken under consideration before starting this medication. I felt like I was dying - think long and hard before you take it."

Rinvoq (upadacitinib) for Ulcerative Colitis "I had been in remission for UC for 8 years when I had a recurrence. My GI doctor put me on Rinvoq starting with a high dosage and then stair-stepping down on the dosage. Within 4 days, I saw a significant improvement in my bowel movements and a significant reduction in bleeding. Over the next 6-8 weeks, I continued to progress and went back into complete remission. I have not been taking any medications for almost 10 months now after being treated with Rinvoq. I had no side effects except gaining weight back."

Rinvoq (upadacitinib) for Ulcerative Colitis "I have had Ulcerative Colitis (UC) for over 10 years and have never had much success with any medications (have used Mesalamine, Humera, Imuran, Entivyo, Stelara, and Prednisone in the past). After a year-long severe flare with 3 hospital visits, I started taking 45 mg of Rinvoq and my symptoms improved after only two weeks of treatment. Within 2 months, I was having solid bowel movements with no urgency or blood. The only side effect is a low white blood cell count which caused an abdominal infection (handled out of the hospital with antibiotics). This drug has given me my life back!! I have more energy now and can eat foods like raw vegetables that used to knock me down with pain and bleeding. I started on 45 mg for 8 weeks and lowered the dosage to 30 mg. I had a small flare for about a month when the dose was lowered but after it improved. Make sure to get regular lab work done and get skin checks yearly by a dermatologist when taking this medicine."

Rinvoq (upadacitinib) for Ankylosing Spondylitis "I have gotten sick regularly with this drug. It helped my arthritis, but I stopped taking it for 3 days when I started to get a fever and night sweats. After three days of stopping the medication, my arthritis came back with a vengeance, and I started taking it again even though I was sick. I still have back pain and joint pain."

Rinvoq (upadacitinib) for Rheumatoid Arthritis "I have tried many meds for RA. Was very successful with Xeljanz but had continual sinusitis. Now Rinvoq is not as successful for pain/RA but I get less sinusitis. Also developed very oily skin and acne about my neck face and shoulders. I am 58 and on HRT as well and MRX 10 mg"

Rinvoq (upadacitinib) for Rheumatoid Arthritis "Rinvoq is a life-changing medication. I have had RA for 31 years. I have been on every treatment available but none gave me the relief this once a pill has. Not any infusion or injection could produce the life this has given me back. No more morning stiffness, no more swollen joints, no more nodules developing on my hands or wrists. I highly recommend this treatment for those that are struggling."

Rinvoq (upadacitinib) for Rheumatoid Arthritis "I was on this medication for several months, and had a stroke at 42! I stayed in the hospital over a month, had over 13 doctors during this time. 11 out of 13 doctors said that Covid shots and this medication were a bomb waiting to happen! Causing a major stroke! I had very little signs and symptoms but enough to know something wasn’t good. I suffered with dizziness, headaches, chest pain, shortness of breath, and all of this made me always think I had Covid! The same symptoms for Covid are pretty much the same symptoms for every medication in the world that you take! It’s really hard to determine what symptom goes with what diagnose this day and age! Don’t wait until it’s too late just stop taking this medication and try something else. It’s not worth it!"

Rinvoq (upadacitinib) for Ulcerative Colitis "I have been taking Rinvoq for around 6 months, but I have decided to stop. Although I think it has helped with my Ulcerative Colitis and stopped the bleeding, it is not a suitable medication for everyone. As a 52-year-old man, I have experienced various side effects that have gotten worse over time, such as fatigue, stomach pain, intestinal blockages, and severe acne on my face, neck, and scalp. Additionally, the insurance process for this medication has been a hassle."

Rinvoq (upadacitinib) for Rheumatoid Arthritis "I have been taking Rinvoq for 11.5 months now. This drug has changed my life. I noticed a big improvement in my pain symptoms about four weeks in. I am 95% pain free and most days I forget I have RA. I do get flares and bad pain every once in a while. The cons of this drug is that it gives me bad fatigue. The fatigue was very disruptive to my life for the first 6-7 months. I have a constant lingering feeling that I am getting sick but never actually get sick. I have also started breaking out around my chin and forehead, I am in my 20s and during puberty I did not suffer from any acne. Overall, this is a great drug for managing my RA and has given me a lot of my life back."

Rinvoq (upadacitinib) for Rheumatoid Arthritis "Many failed attempts from over six drugs for my RA, from oral to self-injections paired with methotrexate injections. I was put on Rinvoq in February 2023. Over time, headaches began, and I noticed elevated blood pressure. My PCP would tell me it's my OSA (obstructive sleep apnea). A couple of months later, the headaches and full-body pain became excruciating. Nothing I took would help. My blood pressure would not go down and even reached as high as 190/104. I also experienced a fast heartbeat. I was a miserable soul and wanted to dig a hole and jump in. An ER visit did nothing to alleviate my symptoms. I finally had to figure this out for myself. I decided to stop taking Rinvoq for a couple of days to see what would happen. I noticed a little improvement after day three, so I continued not taking it. I flushed the medication out with nothing but water. By day five, I felt so much better, and one week later, everything had stopped. All I was going through were my normal day-to-day struggles from RA, osteoarthritis, and fibromyalgia."

Rinvoq (upadacitinib) for Ulcerative Colitis "Been on medication for 2 months and going on maintenance dose now. It has so far kept my UC under control after a 8 month flare up. However the last 3 weeks I have been suffering with dermatitis on my face, neck and chest. I’m struggling getting rid of it with topical treatment and don’t know if caused by Rinvoq. Also I feel like I have unexplained weight gain but not sure yet if caused by Rinvoq."

Rinvoq (upadacitinib) for Ulcerative Colitis "This is an amazing drug that I have now used for about two years. My UC was so bad, I could not leave the house. I have tried all the others with no success, including Entyvio and Stelar. I have my life back! The only side effects are folliculitis on the scalp and possible weight gain. For me, it's a godsend. I'm on the maintenance dose of 30 mg."

Rinvoq (upadacitinib) for Rheumatoid Arthritis "I was using plaqueniI alone then the add methotrexate but gave me headaches. So they eliminated it for sulfasalazine. It makes it less painful. But dr said the I better use rinvoq. I have been taking Rinvoq for a year now with plaquenil and sulfasalazine. This addition make me feel a like gaining my normal life back. The problem is that I start to have continuous UTI infections in the last 8 month. Is very painful. So I am considering changing meds."

Rinvoq (upadacitinib) for Rheumatoid Arthritis "I started this medication 5 yrs after my RA diagnosis. Went through and failed all the others from methotrexate to humira and enbrel. I was a shell of my former self when I started Rinvoq. Much to my surprise it worked immediately. With it came abdominal pain and gastric distress several bouts of diverticulitis, UTI, and kidney infection. That being said I went from immobile to mobile which is a huge consideration. Due to the many infections my rheumatologist recommended 3 x a week dosing 15 mg. Much to my dismay the infections continue. I was just off this med entirely for 6 weeks and returned due to onset of pain and stiffness in my joints. I do plan on using half my prescribed dose from here on out. If infections persist I'm gonna have to call it quits. There are side effects to antibiotics (Levofloxacin) such as spontaneous tendon rupture that pale in comparison to my worst RA day. Do my best to eat right stay in a normal weight range and walk and hope for the best."

Rinvoq (upadacitinib) for Rheumatoid Arthritis "I have severe chronic RA and was diagnosed when I was 30 years old. I have suffered with this disease for 20 years. I'm amazed! I just can't believe the difference this medication has made. I've been on a 4 week trial and after 2 weeks, I have not had one flare. I can move my wrists freely and my knuckles and fingers are pain free. So far I haven't noticed any side effects. I am also taking methotrexate in conjunction with Rinvoq once a week. I find taking Rinvoq daily is a big chore and would like to have it in a weekly or monthly dose!"

Rinvoq (upadacitinib) for Rheumatoid Arthritis "I have RA and Ménière’s (inner ear problem.) Rinvoq worsens my inner ear problem causing increased vertigo. Stopped Rinvoq temporarily for another reason. Vertigo episodes disappeared! Restarted Rinvoq: vertigo returned a week later. Stopped the Rinvoq for 3 weeks again: vertigo disappeared. Restarted Rinvoq: vertigo returned. When I take Rinvoq every other day instead of daily, vertigo episodes are +/- one per month. When I take Rinvoq daily, vertigo episodes are 1 or 2 per day. Rinvoq exacerbates my inner ear problem making Ménière’s more difficult to control resulting in more frequent vertigo. Several reviews mention vertigo and dizziness on Rinvoq, but vertigo doesn’t show up in the official side effects list. If you’re having vertigo, spinning sensation, dizziness on Rinvoq, please post here, tell MD, and tell specialty pharmacy. They won’t list it as an uncommon side effect if they don’t know about it. They won’t know about it unless we tell them."

Rinvoq (upadacitinib) for Rheumatoid Arthritis "5 years ago I got diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. I was 32 years old and it was crippling. Considering my second son was just born it was not good timing. I tried every medicine. I felt like a guinea pig. Nothing really worked. My rheumatologist was getting a little desperate and that scared me for sure. I tried all types of diets the carnivore diet definitely worked the best and getting rid of carbs was big. Some days I still could barely walk. Renvoq was amazing I’ve been on it about two years plus years and I’m 92% better. I can’t say much about many side effects. I have an eczema sun rash but nobody really knows if that’s from the medicine. Small price to pay if it is. I wish I knew more diet stuff earlier. The best for me was carnivore diet (no carbs )but I didn’t really try the full vegan diet long enough to tell.. In any case diets really help but they have to be strict!!! Overall the renvoq was the game changer. Hopefully no long-term side effects. :)"

Rinvoq (upadacitinib) for Atopic Dermatitis "I've only been on Rinvoq for a month to treat Atopic Dermatitis but am calling my Dermatologist tomorrow. The dermatitis has cleared up but at the expense of severe nausea, headaches, chills, cold sores and acne. I'm typically very active with running, biking, and hiking but in the last month of taking this I feel so bad all I want to do is sleep. In Rinvoq defence my body does not react well to most drugs so maybe it is just me but I've never had this bad of a reaction to any drug."
