For Rheumatoid Arthritis "I have been taking Xeljanz for 7 weeks now. Not only did it not improve anything, but each day it gets worse. I was happy to go to sleep before because that was the only time I did not have much pain. Now, when I sleep, I am in pain, and for a week or so now, I wake up with horrible pain in my leg, and I take 2 Tylenol and stay awake in bed till early morning when I can sleep a little. I am going to write to my rheumatologist to tell her that I think it's insane to keep taking this medicine that makes my pain worse, no doubt about it. I am sorry I did not do it before."

For Rheumatoid Arthritis "62 years old and have had RA for 22 months. Tried methotrexate pills and then injections. Next, I tried Humira injection with limited relief. Switched to Xeljanz XR and found immediate relief. I have had no known side effects except some skin rash, and the rash might not be associated with Xeljanz. I am able to function in life again."

For Rheumatoid Arthritis "I am on 11 mg Xeljanz for RA, and it has only been five days. I had diarrhea several times a day since starting it. I really hope that goes away, or I will have to stop it. My upper body is really hurting since starting this medication. Nothing is helping. I take pain medication, methotrexate, and prednisone also. The pain isn’t subsiding."

For Ulcerative Colitis "I have Ulcerative Colitis and started Xeljanz last February for the bad joint pain that often accompanies colitis. It worked almost instantly, and my joints felt great. Unfortunately, I developed 6 severe infections in under 4 months, so I had to stop the Xeljanz. My joint pain is back, so today my rheumatologist started me back on Xeljanz at a half dosage. I was off it for 6 weeks and did not get one new infection."

For Ulcerative Colitis "Having Xeljanz in my life is definitely a game changer. Was diagnosed with UC in 2017, nothing else worked. I have tried everything: pills, biologics (5 months each), and then prednisone did work 100%. It did take Xeljanz about 2 weeks to work, no issues since, and still taking it as we speak. 10 mg a day. I have my life back thanks to it. When I first took it, I was like it's not working. By the end of the 2nd week, the trips to the bathroom had reduced. If your next medication is Xeljanz, give it at least two weeks. If your bathroom trips reduce, they will continue to reduce the longer you take it to where you're going to the bathroom like normal again. Check for the copay program, this will help with the cost. Good luck to everyone."

For Rheumatoid Arthritis "I was diagnosed 15 years ago with seropositive RA. I have literally been on every medication and combo. A few years ago, I was given Xeljanz, and it was pure bliss for 6 months. I felt like a normal person and very quickly! After about 6 months, it suddenly lost its effect, and I went back to trying new medications. Three years later, and out of options, I asked to go back on Xeljanz to see if enough time had passed that maybe I could get some relief for even a short period. I began taking Xeljanz XR this time, and again within a week, my pain and inflammation was lessening greatly. I couldn’t write more than a sentence, and now I have zero struggle. I couldn’t use my right wrist, and now I can use it completely. It is the 6-month mark this month, and I am holding my breath that I continue on this track of amazingness. I have had no side effects, no illnesses, and feel fantastic."

For Rheumatoid Arthritis "I was prescribed this med. I have alopecia areata, to regrow my hair, but I've been reading about this pill and it's so scary that I haven't even started taking it. Please give me your opinion. What should I do, keep myself without hair and be healthy, or take the pill and see what happens with the side effects?"

For Ulcerative Colitis "I have been taking Xeljanz for UC for around 2 years now, nothing was working except for the prednisone, and that was killing me. This is the only drug I have taken that has worked. I do have some side effects, but this is a miracle for me. 10 mg a day."

For Ulcerative Colitis "Xeljanz was a miracle drug for me. 31 years old, and I had UC for about 2 years and had tried numerous biologics with no success. The only thing that would put me into remission was high dosage steroids, which I had been on for 2 years and had caused adrenal insufficiency for me. I was in the process of consulting with a gastro surgeon to have a J-pouch placed when my GI had me try Xeljanz, and after about 6 weeks, I went into complete remission. I take 10 mg twice daily and have had 0 side effects after 8 months. This drug gave me my life back."

For Ulcerative Colitis "Pre-medication condition: Ulcerative colitis always active at rectal level. No way to get rid of it; I tried Vedolizumab, Infliximab, and Azathioprine, and also combined therapies. With Xeljanz: I started Xeljanz one month ago, and UC now is completely gone. I am surprised because I never completely reached mucosal healing without corticosteroids. Actually, I haven’t experienced any side effect, but we will continue to monitor my condition."

For Rheumatoid Arthritis "I have been taking Xeljanz for 4 months now. I have experienced less joint pain and swelling in some joints but increased significantly in other joints to the point of crying. Extreme fatigue, dizziness, nausea, and a general unwell sick feeling. I was previously on other biologics and then just on prednisone. I would much rather feel the way I felt before taking the Xeljanz. The way I feel on this drug is worse than being on nothing."

For Ulcerative Colitis "Was diagnosed with UC in 2012, that was after 2 years of trying to self-diagnose myself. Been on so many different meds. I've been on this medication for about 3 months, 10 mg, 2 times a day, and I have to say it's been a ride. I was going to the bathroom a lot. Now I'm not going at all. Every week I have to take laxatives because I'm not going to the bathroom at all. It's causing weight gain. I'm extremely tired now as well. I can't keep my eyes open. I was driving my husband and me home and was almost in an accident as it hit me all of a sudden. Pulled over so he could drive, but imagine what it would be like if I was alone. I'm so uncomfortable, and the nausea and headache are unbearable. I work from home so it helps to step away from the computer, but I'll say my symptoms on the meds aren't getting me anywhere I need to be."

For Psoriatic Arthritis "I was on this medication for a year. It works, it kept my pain down, and inflammation markers looked good. I just got off the medication because my liver enzymes were going up, and I have gained a lot of weight since taking it. Other than that, no other side effects, like a lot of people on here have had."

For Rheumatoid Arthritis "I was hesitant to try Xeljanz. The reviews scared me to death. I decided to give it a try, and I’m glad I did. I’ve had a few sinus infections in the last year, but I stopped the Xeljanz for ten days, and antibiotics cleared it right up. I’ve had none of the terrible side effects I read about, and it’s been over a year now. My RA is close to remission. I’m thankful for this drug, and hopefully, with careful monitoring, I will continue to do well on it."

For Rheumatoid Arthritis "I was on prednisone for 6 months, then did Cimzia injections. No improvement. Xeljanz - I am on month 2. So far, so good. I did develop a sinus infection, but I dealt with it. I am not giving up just because of that. I will keep you posted. Feeling good today."

For Psoriatic Arthritis "I was on Xeljanz XL for about 7 months. It seemed to be doing a decent job with my PsA joint pain and fatigue. After about 3 months, I noticed a shortness of breath that was getting worse. We presumed heart blockage, but cath showed no blockage. Turned out pulmonary embolism was the likely culprit with Xeljanz. Wish I had checked PE as the cause first. Lots of time and $ looking at heart. I know this drug can work, it just depends on your body and its possible reactions."

"My son has an autoimmune disease that affected his thyroid, skin (severe blistering eczema) all over his body, dark circles under his eyes, and alopecia totalis (meaning the worst form, where when it is active, he loses all body hair, eyebrows, lashes, and scalp hair). After being on methotrexate at different dosages and other medication combined with prednisone, we switched to Xeljanz, and thank goodness we did. His skin has improved dramatically and no blisters, his dark circles beneath his eyes are much lighter and almost gone, he feels better AND BONUS-his body hair, facial hair, and scalp hair is FINALLY coming in! He has been on the medication for almost two months now, and I couldn’t be happier."

For Psoriatic Arthritis "I took one dose of this medication, and within one hour, both of my arms went completely numb. Numbness and tingling started in my lips and jaw. The next two nights, I woke up in the night with complete numbness again in my arms, which took 30 minutes to return to tingling. Numbness and tingling have continued through this whole week, in my feet and ankles, and lips and arms, even though I stopped taking it after the one disaster dose. Headaches and eye inflammation started three days after stopping use of this drug. I hope I can be symptom-free soon, and without lasting neurological effects. This was (and still is) an utterly frightening experience. I wouldn't recommend this drug to anyone."

For Psoriatic Arthritis "I was put on this medication 2 months ago. I wasn't sure at first how much it helped for my arthritis (psoriatic) because I was put on prednisone. Now I'm off the prednisone, and my joints hurt so bad. My skin psoriasis is slowly getting better, but my fingers have gone back to hurting, hips, knees, back. It gives me daily headaches. It helps me more than Humira and Enbrel, but I'm still experiencing pain and swelling."

For Ulcerative Colitis "I’ve been taking Xeljanz for just over a year. I’ve been through all the other biologic meds since I was diagnosed 12 years ago. Stelara was the last one I tried, and it didn’t work at all. My fecal calprotectin was over 8,000 when I started Xeljanz, and after 3 months, it was down to 22, which I think is the best it’s ever been. So, Xeljanz is definitely working. The downside to that are the side effects. It started with fatigue and headaches for the first month or so, then progressed to stomach pain, burning, loss of appetite, nausea, and diarrhea. I thought maybe it wasn’t working and I was flaring again, but my calprotectin was even lower than before. I’ve also developed high cholesterol and high blood pressure (never had that before in my life). It’s making me feel absolutely horrible, I have all the flare symptoms without the flare! Now I have to decide if I should keep taking it or not, I don’t have many options left :("

For Ulcerative Colitis "Using Xeljanz for UC 10 mg 2x a day about 4 months. Good results right away within days. Fatigue in the beginning slowly getting better. Weight gain, but not sure if I can blame the drug. Some nausea in the morning. I now know what foods to avoid. Four months in and no real bad side effects."

For Rheumatoid Arthritis "I have been taking Xeljanz for about 11 years now. The longer I have rheumatoid disease, then the more I forget, or have difficulty recalling exact figures/dates/times. I was never going to kick Newton off of his math perch. It took me 3 tries to pass high school algebra, yet I can still remember dialogue sequences from movies I saw 48 years ago?! Truthfully, I'd rather have my health from 48 years ago, but que sera. Since I started taking Xeljanz, I fight more with doctors who want me to stop taking it! When I have had difficulty with the paperwork being approved, let me tell you, I can feel and see it! Others can see that I haven't been taking it, just by the size of the bumps on the outsides of my wrists. I take the 5 mg pill, twice a day. I notice one and only one side effect - NOT taking it. I thank the Lord every day."

For Psoriatic Arthritis "I have been on Xeljanz for about 6 months for psoriatic arthritis. For the most part, it was doing good... psoriasis cleared up, and my joints were doing great. Now, the joints are still okay, but I am experiencing new breakouts all over, and the plaque on my arms is getting thicker. I gave myself Humira shots, then went to Stelara, but this is worse than the psoriasis has been in about 6 years."

For Rheumatoid Arthritis "I was diagnosed with RA in 1996. Of all of the biologicals and JAK inhibitors that I’ve tried, which is many if not most, Xeljanz and Xeljanz XR are the only effective Rx. When I have stopped use, RA symptoms have returned in less than a week. Upon resuming Xeljanz, the effect was noticeable in three days. The sinusitis is annoying, but that is the only side effect that I’ve experienced."
