Armour Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "I was taking levothyroxine 100mcg. Had maintained weight of 142lb. Changed to armour thyroid 60mg. After 6 months have found I have gained 20 lbs. I work out often like I've always done. Heading back to Dr this month hoping to find answers. Feeling depressed too not sure if it's knowing my weight gain or this is making me feel crazy too."

Armour Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "When I was finally diagnosed, after having classic textbook hypothyroidism symptoms, I was prescribed, in varying doses Synthroid or Levoxyl. Neither did me much good and of course doctors bandaged my lingering symptoms with other drugs and excuses. It wasn't until I found out about Armour, fired a bunch of clueless doctors, treated adrenal insufficiency, and I finally found out after 50 years I could actually feel human. Synthetic medicines never once gave me that feeling like Armour has. It is the thyroid medicine of choice for me. It is effective and easily dosed, and I promptly threw my old medicines away. Doctors need to get a clue about this now. Armour is IT. It is the best one to prescribe."

I went to two doctors and they could not find anything wrong. I changed my laundry detergent, my soap, etc... Does anybody have something simliar?"

Armour Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "I had benign thyroid nodules, 2 docs thought I had thyroid cancer so I had a partial thyroidectomy. No doc did a biopsy, shame. Endo shamed me for asking for Armour. I suffered badly on synthyroid and all other synthetic meds. Finally convinced my PCP to try me on Armour 120, it was a miracle for me , I got well. I continued on Armour 120mgs for 28+ years, same dose, no problems. Over the last approx 2 years the strength of Armour 120 mgs changed, the cost skyrocketed and it is not covered by insurance. I gained weight, had hair loss & puffiness on my old perfect dose Armour 120. Gyn doc prescribed Armour 180. I am much better, brain fog gone. Hair loss gone. When thyroid dose is correct, you will feel well again! The endo doc told me Armour thyroid was made from sick pigs and not good for humans. If that were true, why do heart specialist use pig parts for heart surgery and other surgeries."

Armour Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "I have been using this product for 30 days! LOVE it!! First time in over a year that I don't have to take a nap at some point in the day. I have also naturally lost a few lbs! Which is great too since I've gained 50 in the past 5 years with no initial root cause. Find a doctor that looks at everything! Your vitamin levels, minerals, and serotonin levels on top of thyroid. I take the med in the morning with water that has Lugol's iodine drops in it. I'll keep you updated on future effects."

Armour Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "I was on Armour for several years after still feeling horrible on Synthroid. At first I felt better, then the last 2 yrs my TSH kept inching up & I went thru menopause. I also started experiencing horrible body aches (told I had fibromyalgia) and joint pain like I had arthritis. Gained 25lbs in a year and extreme fatigue. In Jan I was told I was in menopause at 43. I saw an new endocrinologist in June. She switched me to Tirosint and said all my symptoms were from Armour dosing was inconsistent. According to her, not every pill has the same levels. I switched to Tirosint and all the body aches stopped. No more being in pain! However, my menstrual cycle returned after 3 years of no periods. Now I am starting birth control pills since the bleeding won’t stop. I believe Armour put me in menopause."

NP Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "Doesn’t even deserve a 1. Do yourself a favor, and don’t bother with this awful “medicine” NP thyroid! It changed for the worse in the fall of 2019 and hasn’t been fixed since. Keeps getting recalled also. Most recently this past month in late April 2021 it’s recalled again, this time for sub-potency! Do a search for it. You’ve been warned! Acella can’t get it right & it’s just not a reliable choice. Go with brand-name Armour Thyroid instead (it’s literally the only one left that isn’t horrible) or get a script for 2 synthetics (Tirosint/Tirosint-SOL are the cleanest T4) along with T3 (Cytomel/liothyronine, or compounded synthetic) to balance the thyroid, OR if Naturethroid/WP ever come back on the market, try one of those"

Armour Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "I was on Synthroid, Levothyroxine, etc. for three years with no improvement. I complained constantly, and two doctors told me to see a psychiatrist. I finally did, and she said, 'you're not crazy, you need real thyroid medicine!' She put me on Armour, and I'll never use the synthetic medicines again!"

Nature-Throid (thyroid desiccated) "I had horrible fatigue and muscle cramping, and was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). I have been sick for 20 years & tried various thyroid medicines over the years and they would make my hormone levels too high, but not help me at all. I took this because some doctors think this disease is caused by thyroid resistance. I was at my worst ever and very weak. Both my leg and arm muscles ached with no activity at all after minor exercise. I would be bedridden & more sore. I talked my doctor into giving me a trial of Thyroid again as my 'FREE' Thyroid was low in the range & close to abnormal. He prescribed Nature-Throid. Thank goodness. It's like a miracle for me after over two decades of trying everything under the sun and spending a small fortune. I am so afraid that my new doctor will take me off it & it has been unavailable at times at my pharmacy. My muscles don't hurt at all, I have much more energy, I am not short of breath & I feel much stronger, too. My foggy head is gone. It works absolute wonders on me."

Armour Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "I changed from Levothyroxine to Armour in the last two weeks. I feel so much better in this short amount of time. I'm not so bloated and something just didn't feel right with the Levothyroxine. I have only been taking it for two weeks, but the way I feel is good. I take 30 mg of Armour."

Armour Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "Last year, I gained around 20 lbs. in about two months, and I would be fine one minute; the next, I would feel like crying. I was losing my hair at an exponential rate. For years, I was cold all the time. I had no energy and would run out of breath easily. My doctor diagnosed me with numerous problems, including having hypothyroidism. She started me on Levothyroxine, which made me ill. As is my way, I did research and found out about Armour. Within two weeks, without my saying a word to her, she told me she was prescribing Armour Thyroid 15 MG. What a difference! I got my life back. I'm now on 30 MG once a day. I am a staunch believer in natural treatment, and Armour is natural."

Armour Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "I came on here to read reviews because I was at a total loss after 20-plus years on Armour Thyroid. I have very dry mouth, and face, and my jaw is clenched and I am fighting with everyone. I broke two back molars which required crowns and a mouthpiece for the clenching. I had some old Armour from 2020, and for kicks decided to take that for a month, and all of my problems went away, went back on the new formula and back to rage, zero sleep and dry mouth clenching! this is so horrendous. I am a total loss because I can not deal with synthroid. I might try something from the open market on Amazon. It is ruining my life."

Armour Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism in 1999, so the doctor put me on levothyroxine. I never felt any different, and as the years passed, my symptoms got worse. My levels became worse, and I was then diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis. My weight went up and down, more up than down. The fatigue was so severe that I thought about ending my life. Having two boys, that wasn't an option. After years of being on levothyroxine with doctors increasing the dosage, I got sick of it and stopped taking it. I could not function on it; it was like a sleeping pill to me. I was bloated all the time, and my hair was breaking off. I made an appointment with my doctor a few weeks ago, and after all these years, I told her about my issues with levothyroxine. She said, 'Let's check your levels, and I'll switch you to Armour Thyroid.' It's the best thing ever; I wake up feeling as though I've slept."

Armour Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "I've been taking Armour for several years now. Somewhere along the line, all of my symptoms such as constipation, weight gain and trouble losing weight, hair loss, trouble falling asleep despite being extremely tired, low energy, headaches, brain fog, etc., came back with a vengeance. My endo sees nothing wrong with my labs and tells me it must be something I'm eating. I went along with this theory until one day I went online to find out why my prescription cost went up so much. Much to my surprise, I stumbled across many others like me complaining of symptoms coming back despite lab work being in range. Everyone noticed the changes came about when Forest sold! I'm switching doctors and hope to find another medication!"

Armour Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "My Dr. insisted for years my thyroid wasn't to blame for all of my hypo symptoms. I started seeing another Dr to manage medications as I'm also dealing with depression. She ran a full battery of tests on my thyroid levels and put me on Armour. I have NEVER felt as good as I feel now. I started at a low dose and just doubled it and now have more energy, alertness and lost 8 lbs without changing anything. I'm not drinking caffeine constantly and can keep up with my 10, 8 & 1-year-old boys. My bff has struggled using Synthroid and is now talking to her doctor about using Armour. I hope it works for her and doesn't stop working for me!"

Nature-Throid (thyroid desiccated) "I was on levo first for about 3 months. Blood test came back with good numbers. Only I still felt like crap. Doc changed me to Nature-Throid. I felt so much better. I needed the T3 (levo was not converting the T4). I take 195 mg a day. 2 pills in the morning, 1 midday. My insurance does not cover, but $40 gets me a 3-month supply."

Armour Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "I was first prescribed Synthroid. While my TSH levels came down to 1.9, I still had side effects, like I was permanently cold and fatigued, as well as gained 30 pounds. I changed to Armour, and my feelings of intense cold subsided, my fatigue eased off, and my weight is slowly coming down. My TSH level is down to 0.42!"

Armour Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "I have been on Armour for 4 days and I have already noticed a difference. I could actually take off my wedding ring. I sleep really well for about 7 hours. Not waking up constantly. My swelling has gone down significantly. My joints do not ache. Not getting as winded. I am taking 60mg. I have noticed that I am really tired at night. I like the suggestion of taking it at night as well. I'll have to check with my doctor and get his opinion."

Armour Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "I have been on desiccated Thyroid since I was diagnosed in 1999, recommended by my naturopath as superior to synthetic. My problem has been that most doctors dose based on TSH which doesn't necessarily equate to thyroid function. I was losing energy in the evening, falling asleep after meals, and having a hard time losing some weight (not normal for me). I found a practitioner to monitor dosing to my symptoms, and I am much better. I take 60mg in the morning and another 60mg in the afternoon, and I have lots of energy and sleep when I want to. I'm still taking less than many who regularly take thyroid meds, but I feel great."

Armour Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "For the last 6 years, I have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism (5.28). I was taking levothyroxine. The first time taking it, I felt like my insides were burning, and one night I was in the bathroom and passed out without even knowing it until I woke up on the floor. I went to the ER and stopped taking it. Then 4 years later, another doctor put me back on levothyroxine but at a lower dose. After a week, I felt like I was gagging and couldn't breathe, and my levels were at 6.50. I went to an Urgent Care, and the doctor put me on 30mg of Armour Thyroid, and my levels were at 5.20. I was put on 90mg of Armour Thyroid, and my levels are at 2.12 after 1 month. I have emotions now, as before I was numb. My sex drive is way better. Energy level comes and goes. No weight loss yet."

Armour Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "Why can't they go back to the old method of making Armour Thyroid? I've tried the synthetic meds before. I don't feel like myself and had many issues with side effects. Even a mix of two different ones trying to get my t3 right. TSH levels always good or played games of too high or too low until the T3 was studied. Yes, I've had more issues with sleeping, insomnia, irritability, focus, weight loss, hair loss, and for the first time in my life, I had a migraine over a year ago and now need to take daily meds for them. Does anyone know of another company, even out of the US, where we could buy the old formula from? Use of pig glands certainly can't be expensive. Just another company filling their pockets while giving a lesser product, we suffer."

Armour Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "Have taken Armour for decades, all with good results. Medicare doesn't cover it and I bought 1 year worth only to find something changed. My taste, smell have been affected and the smell continues down into both kinds of body elimination. Have spoken with pharmacists who said the formula hasn't changed. SOMETHING changed and NOT for the better. I am now stuck with HUNDREDS of dollars of junk! Not happy. Can't take synthetic stuff."
