"I first took Flomax about 5 years ago: took the 0.4 dose pill and had a retrograde ejaculation. Went off the drug because of that. Several years later a doctor in Thailand told me to take half the dose. This year I acquired full medical insurance and began taking Flomax again. Since the minimum dose is 0.4, I break open the capsule and take only half at a time. This has worked wonders, as I feel like urination (and the flow during ejaculation) is back to where it was maybe 10 years ago, and I have absolutely no side effects (despite being very sensitive to medications in general) . I think some of the people who have negative side effects on this drug might benefit by reducing the dosage."

Flomax (tamsulosin) "Was give flowmax on Monday to help with frequent trips to bathroom. On Tuesday my tooth started hurting so I went to the Dentist only to be sent home with hope that it will just go away. The pain got worse and so intense that Thursday I went back to the Dentist who said he could see no reason for the pain so sent me to a specialist dentist 100 miles from my house. I had xrays hot and cold treatments and was sent home with more pain pills. I ONLY TOOK TWO FLOMAX PILLS, ONE MONDAY AND ONE TUESDAY . ON THE DRIVE HOME MY PAIN STARTED TO GO AWAY . I CALLED THE DR THAT GAVE ME THE FLOMAX HE SAID STOP CAN CAUSE TOOTH PAIN."

Flomax (tamsulosin) "It is essential to read all the adverse effects others have suffered and the alternatives that worked for them. I am an old man over 80 years old and have been on Flomax for years with no side effects. We are all different, so that is to be expected. I have several friends who also use Flomax. Not once has the subject of side effects come up, and I must assume they don’t have them. One is a “complainer” and would undoubtedly say something. A year ago, I got covid and survived easily. I have had worse colds, and I have several of the high-risk characteristics and was surprised it wasn’t worse. Since then, I have experienced a stuffy nose, which is minor and not an issue for me. I must assume that it is related to the covid, not Flomax. For each person who has a negative side effect, I assume that there could be dozens or hundreds who don’t."

Flomax (tamsulosin) "Has made urination easier and less urgent. The only side effect has been retrograde ejaculation. Kind of an odd feeling and no semen in the condom. There is some cloudiness in the urine with the first urination after sexual intercourse. After getting used to the feeling, sex is as pleasurable as it has always been."

Flomax (tamsulosin) "Used flomax for a long time and it worked great for me used to get up 5 times a night, then after using flomax maybe once or twice - then my company raised the price from 75. 00 to 495. 00 for 3 months. Then they said they had a generic for 30. 00 for 3 months. Am on the generic and it does not work."

"age 74 on flow max/tamsulosin for 8 years. I started .4 mg & later to ,8 mg. I never had a problem while on it. Pee strong stream, no stones yet. Dr. prescribed Finesteride 2 years ago because Flomax alone was not enough to keep stream adequate. No problems. Tamsulosin alone kept me urinating for 8 years. Life is Better when you are peeing normally."

Flomax (tamsulosin) "Not effective half of the time; causes me to feel like the room is spinning; doesn't always get bladder fully emptied; makes me feel weak and tired at least half the time; occasional urinary incontinence; loss of sexual desire and poor erections; often makes me feel nervous or apprehensive."

"Tamsulosin very quickly improved flow of urine, and meant my night wasn't constantly interrrupted. Great! But it has reduced libido and intensity of sexual pleasure. Above all, it has left me feeling very tired - even though I take it in the early evening."

Flomax (tamsulosin) "My experience is bang on great! I rarely get up at night and my flow is excellent, no pain, no dribbles etc. I take about 4 pills that will lower my blood pressure, plus morphine which does interact with Flomax, but I lowered my morphine dose and spread it out more and it works great. I was worried about insomnia but all is well there. I had a vasectomy 13 years ago which when combined with Flomax may cause low ejaculate. Flomax works great for me and my life has improved considerably."

"I had severe urination problems at 64to 65 years of age. I couldn't hardly urinate when I wanted where I wanted. It was painful to urinate and could not empty out. I saw a urologist and had a camera stuck up my penis. My prostate is the size of battleship. I have been taking this tamsulosin for nine months and it has made it so I can urinate with out pain. It has been great. Side effects are not so. Retrograde ejaculation takes the fun out of orgasm. Sleepy and listless often. I think I am going to have surgery to ream out the prostate, and have been weighing the issues. You might as well try this stuff on and make your own decision. For now, it sure has helped. Before, I had to get up three or four times a night to pee a little."

"I have trouble urinating with weak stream dr said my prostate was normal but put me on Tamsulosin with a slight improvement but still up 3 times a night & find I have to urinate often during the day & I keep fluids to a minimum, & forget about sexual enjoyment no problem with erection but no ejaculation so why bother. So I tried to stop taking & then couldn’t pee at all. I wish my doc. Told me about this"

Flomax (tamsulosin) "I posted previously ( i think here?) about my dissatisfaction with Flomax, and the pain and discomfort it caused me during the 3 days (3 doses) I took it and the 5 days after I stopped taking it, thinking I was experiencing residual effects. Turns out I had a UTI infection due to the cytoscopy. Be sure to get antibiotics after cytoscopys, before starting flomax, avoiding much pain & discomfort. I might give Flomax another try, will consult with additional doctors before!"

Flomax (tamsulosin) "I have used Flomax for a year. It has reduced the urgency and improved flow. Initially, it inhibited sex drive, but I got used to it and am back to nearly normal. My doctor has recommended Rapaflo. One improvement may be sleeping better. I now have trouble getting back to sleep after my once per night pee trip."

"Worked extremely well after taking effect within one week. Immediate relief from compulsion to urinate and I had fewer trips to the bathroom during the night. But the best aspect, aside from its medical use, was the vivid dreaming--both pleasant and nightmarish. GREAT!!! The dreams were like watching great movies every night for free. Can't emphasize enough how great these vivid dreams, deep REM, made me feel rested and entertained."

Flomax (tamsulosin) "I have been on Flomax and a catheter for 2 weeks. Had the catheter removed today. Only a few drops come out. Basically retaining all urine. Had to go back on a catheter the same day it was removed. The urologist only does the kind of surgery I want once a month. Looks like I may be on a catheter till March. No pain...just discomfort from catheter. Flomax seems to be causing me problems in the morning. It takes at least an hour or more just to get out of bed. When I rise to sit on the side of the bed my BP is good. But when I stand my BP goes to 9x/6x. I would pass out if I remained standing. I must lay down to regain a decent BP. Flomax plus aspirin are the only drugs I was taking. But I stopped the aspirin 2 days ago. Now only Flomax."

"For some unknown reason, I suddenly had real difficulties urinating......it could have been a reaction to a shingles vaccine or CBD oil but I thought I would need a trip to the ER. Doctor gave me a ton of tests and a tamsulosin script and after three weeks things were back to normal. The tamsulosin seems to be working although it took a while.. Side effects aren't bad."

"First dose gave me increased flow and great relief from that obnoxious 'never quite empty' feeling and frequency, urgency and dribbling that I had lived with for the past 5 years or so. I just hope I can keep taking it, as I am experiencing side effects, including feeling very lightheaded - similar to like being over the legal limit on alcohol! I have also had muscle weakness and a very lethargic feeling. Had some nausea, but I am not sure if that was from the medicine or from my diverticulitis. Interesting that the description says it is intended to relax the muscles bladder neck and prostate. I also gained about an inch when flaccid, and "the boys" seem to be hanging lower, too. Time will tell if I can keep taking this."

"I am using this for frequent nighttime trips to urinate, like 3-4 times a night. Sleep was interrupted and poor. Now I am able to get a good night's sleep with only having to get up once a night to void. I did not see GI symptoms listed as possible side effects. But, like Steve67, I too have the heartburn/gastric reflux. Been taking this for about 2 month now. And the med may have caused a wave of intense nausea I had to coach myself out of. Interesting to say the least."

"Really started a strong stream with no dribbling after a week. Get dizzy, tired most of the day, no erection without Cialis, retrograde ejaculation (climax feeling is good), and have had draining sinuses for the year I have taken Flomax. Time to see if there is something else or have a TURP."

"Been on tamsulosin for years was in denial for years there no mental or physical side effects from this stuff - while it does help as opposed to another urinary surgery this time a TURP. I simple cannot take anymore of these pills and I get distressed, depressed, dizzy and depending what other meds you must take they combine and make it worse; I take them twice a day morning and night - in between dutestaride wow another gem whilst I have had 11 surgeries and am a cancer survivor and though I get benefit from this cocktail med list I am exploring global uroligists to find another - the bra surgery is non invasive and no blood I am seriously researching that. The meds work don't get me wrong but anguish and mental price you pay daily takes a toll on you year after year"

Flomax (tamsulosin) "Taking 0.4mg x 1 daily in the evening. Started two weeks ago. Doctor took me off Hytrin (terazosin 10mg). After two weeks my flow is less than on Hytrin. My frequency and urge to pee is higher than on Hytrin. My volume of output is less. This is the second time a doctor took me off Hytrin to put me on a "better", newer, drug. In both cases these other medicines didn't work as well as Hytrin. Will continue the Flomax for one more week just in case it has something to do with building up in blood levels."
