"I started spiro (100mg) and tactu pump about a month and a half ago. I PROMISED myself if it worked or I saw any improvement that I’d write a review. I've had those annoying skin coloured bumps all over my face since I was 10 (now 19). High school was particularly the worst and when I say no face product helped, no diet helped. I had even been refined sugar free and dairy free for years. I FINALLY gave up and made an online appointment with a derm. He suggested spiro and tactu pump so I started. I was terrified of purging with either one and was praying I wouldn’t. I maybe got slightly more little tiny bumps but absolutely nothing I wasn’t used to. The only side effect I really saw with spiro was a slight increase of peeing more. I’m now almost on my 7th week of sprio and at the current moment, my skin feels flat, no clogged pores or little bumps. It honestly feels surreal because I haven’t had clear skin like this in 9 years. I’m PRAYING it only gets better:)."

"It caused me a dread shed, which never stopped but got worse over a course of 1 year :((((( Eventually I stopped 2 months ago and started Neoptide lotion, Anacaps Progressive and Anaphase Plus Shampoo and it decreased from 200hair/day to 20/30"

"My doctor put me on 50 mg for the first week and then 100 mg if no side effect. From week 1 on, I used bathroom more. Haven't noticed hair growth. In week 3, I started having super itchy rashes breaking out in random parts of my body. I stopped the medication immediately and the rashes stopped two days later."

"I’m not sure how I feel about Spiro, I started it when I was 23 due to balding and seeing my crown, although that seemed to happen gradually and I wasn’t noticing a lot of shedding. I was diagnosed with Androgenic alopecia, dad and aunt were bald and my mother had very fine hair. So I’ve never had thick hair but was conscious about how thin my pony tail was and seeing my scalp. I had been on this for about 8 years now. Hair has always been fine but there have been years where my hair was really quite good and other periods where I was still conscious and wore extensions. I’ve just stopped to have children and it’s taken me about 3 months to put it together that it must be stopping spiro which has caused crazy shedding. My hair is literally everywhere and my pony tail has never been thinner. My hair on my crown is okay it’s just like diffuse hair loss all over my scalp. So I think it’s helped maintained my hair well for 8 years but so hard stopping."

"Started on 50 mg spironolactone for cystic acne and suspected androgenic alopecia since my hair wasn’t growing back in and was thinning. Hit the 2 month mark and my hair loss started increasing. By month 3, my hair is falling out in clumps, I’m losing more hair than before I started and my skin all over my body is dry no matter how much water I drink. This does NOT work for everyone"

"This is my decade-long experience with spiro. Firstly, I have a tumor that affects my hormones but wasn’t diagnosed for years, so I was always treating symptoms. At 19 and with bad acne, after exhausting all meds including Accutane, the derm suggested BC pills (Yaz). At the time, I didn’t have a hair loss issue, but it did amazing things for my skin. A few years in, I noticed my hair was thicker than it had been my whole life. My hairdresser noticed, I even got compliments on how long my eyelashes were. After 6 years on the pill, I decided to go off. That’s when it got bad. Skin exploded, hair fell out, etc. Enter spiro again. However, I wasn't consistent with them, tapered off at times to see what would happen. Cut to now, my hair is the thinnest it has been in my life, and I’m back on spiro for good. I’m noticing less shedding and new sprouts of growth, but it’s going to take time. My advice is if you’re going to start it, be patient and prepared to stay on it."

"I tried Spiro as a last resort for my hair loss, I don't like taking medication for anything. I lost most of my hair when I started junior high school (horrible timing). It grew back in at 20 and am blessed to have thick hair, was able to cover any bald spots that come and go over the years. Spiro gave me side effects that I couldn't deal with. The one thing that I noticed with everyone's reviews was acne and clogged pores and that means clogged hair follicles also. That seems to be the one factor in all reviews."
