For Type 2 Diabetes "Initially began Ozempic 0.25mg for 4 weeks. Side effects were tiredness, constipation. My fasting blood sugar numbers were lower in the morning. When I began the 0.50mg dose at 5 weeks, I had nausea, dizziness, and lethargy the day following the first dose. The second day following that dose, I felt about 70% better. With the second dose of 0.50mg, side effects were less severe, some minor nausea, headaches, and the tiredness continued. I hope that these side effects disappear. I plan to take this medication until I get my 3-month labs, and I expect that my A1c will be down significantly. It was at 5.9 in July of 2017. Due to the stress of caring for a dying relative from September through December, it jumped to 9.3. At my next appointment, my doctor suggested I try Ozempic in combination with Metformin 500mg twice a day. I received a 3-month discount card and have not yet checked with my health insurance provider to see if it will be covered. I am an active 61-year-old female, but type 2 diabetes does run in my mother’s family."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "Was Ozempic for 4 weeks. Giving myself a weekly injection. Week 1 and 2, I was okay. The end of week 2, I was really nauseous. By the 3rd week, I couldn't eat or drink anything. My prescriber assured me I would be okay, so I went on with my 4th week. I spent 3 separate days in A&E, and I was diagnosed with a clot in the lung (PE). Now, maybe this wasn't directly caused by the injection, but due to the severe nausea and dehydration, that is how I got a clot. The nausea still continued for 4 weeks after my last injection. I would never recommend this at all. If my clot hadn't been picked up, goodness knows what may have happened. I also had bad dizziness and severe headaches."

For Type 2 Diabetes "On the good side, I have lost 15 lbs in 4 months, and after 3 months on Ozempic, my HgbA1c went from 9.1 down to 6.6 (normal range 4.6-5.6), which is the lowest it's ever been since I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes 17 years ago. On the downside, lately, I have been experiencing dizziness/vertigo and hoarseness since last week. I take 0.5 mg, I started at 0.25 mg. I love that it brought my A1c down to almost normal. I go back to the doctor in 3 weeks to check my A1c again. It's easy to use once weekly. My doctor never increased my dose, she's thrilled."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have taken 7 doses of Ozempic. The first week wasn't too bad. A little nausea and fatigue. I did feel like my food stuck in my throat, and every time I burped, there it was. As I continued to take it each week, the side effects got worse. I was just diagnosed with diabetes in May, and since then, I've been able to come off of my insulin on my own, before Ozempic. I still take Metformin twice a day. This past week, the seventh dose made me so sick! If I wasn't nauseous every day, I was running to the bathroom at all hours of the day and night. I had horrible heartburn, gas, burping, jitters, and dizziness the whole time and thought I could continue, but after this past week, my doctor said to come off of it. It will take a while to get out of my system, I know, but I hope it does so quickly. I need my life back!!"

"Works for weight loss but had to stop before I wanted to because of nausea, vomiting, dizziness. Tried a second time with less vomiting but still nauseous and dizzy. One sounded to feel so sick to lose weight. Probably will stop again. Was taking 1 mg each time."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Discontinued Trulicity because no results. 2 weeks Ozempic at 0.25, then bumped to 0.50. A1C went from 8.8 to 7.6. No weight loss. Went up to 1 mg dose last month. Was given OK to try 2 mg if I wanted but on backorder. Noticed dizziness at exercise class when getting up and had a few days of thigh pain as others have mentioned. Sometimes dinner just sits on my stomach and middle of the night burping and vomiting. Morning numbers are much better."

For Type 2 Diabetes "My doctor prescribed Ozempic for me at the beginning of January, starting at the .25 mg dose and working up to the 1 mg dose, which I have been on for a few weeks now. I have seen noticeable improvements in my glucose levels, which are now at a normal range, which they had not been for years. It was also prescribed to help with weight loss. I have not found it to be particularly helpful in this regard. I am losing small amounts of weight, but a lot of this has to do with a modified diet that is conducive to weight loss. The side effects I have experienced and continue to experience are stomach cramps and diarrhea, sulfur burps, some constipation, lightheadedness, and dizziness, which is the worst one for me. I was at the hairdresser today, and on leaving I almost passed out and had to go back inside to sit down, and there was a big fuss, etc., etc. It was very embarrassing and scary. I so desperately want to lose weight and think that it will eventually work for me, so I am going to keep taking it."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started this drug to try and lower my A1C, which had climbed to 7.2. My nurse practitioner put me on it. She showed me how to do the injections, but no warnings of side effects. I took a .25 dose for 4 weeks, suffering pain in my stomach that radiated to my back. Absolutely no craving to eat anything at all. Had constipation. Then I went to a .5 injection and was fine for a bit until severe nausea began, along with dizziness and vomiting. I thought it was going to be the end of me, because then the unrelenting diarrhea began. I waited days in bed, so very ill, and decided to quit this awful medication. I have lost 6 pounds, and my morning glucose numbers are 107, it's lower, but feeling this deathly ill just isn't worth it. I quit the medication, though I understand it could take 5 weeks to leave my body. Beware of this drug."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Since being on Ozempic 0.5mg per week, my A1C has remained around 6.7. I have had a weight reduction of plus 30 lbs. I have been taken off 4 different cardiovascular medications (due to cardioprotective properties of Ozempic) (amlodipine, dilt 120mg CD, imdur 60mg per day, and losartan 25mg has been discontinued), and also stopped taking my sitagliptin 100mg and glipizide 2.5mg XR. I still take Metformin 1gm twice daily. On the downside, my appetite and taste for food has really decreased more than I anticipated, and the worst is my blood pressure has significantly decreased, leading to orthostatic hypotension, with BP averaging 85-90/50. This leads to dizziness throughout part of the day and affects my quality of life."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Within the first two to three months on the lowest dose, I lost 15 pounds. During the nine months using Ozempic, my weight loss varied from 15 to 21 pounds. In my last three months, I was using the 1mg per week dosage. This drug helped satisfy any hunger and stopped the feeling of needing to snack. Most days, I had no appetite and had to force myself to eat. Due to side effects of vomiting, stomach upset, constipation, loose bowels, indigestion, and dizziness, I have stopped taking Ozempic and feel great again. Not being sick is a good thing. It may help some people but was not good for me."

For Type 2 Diabetes "One of the biggest mistakes I've ever made in my life was starting this drug. You will be sicker than you ever have been from any other drug. My doctor started me out at 1 mg (what was she thinking???) and my life has been miserable ever since. I can't eat. I can't sleep. I can't work. I am so exhausted I can hardly drive. Horrible constipation, horrible nausea, dizziness, an all-over feeling of general unwellness. I took it for 2 weeks and quit. I quit a week ago and am still waiting to have a bowel movement. Still waiting for the sickness to go away. Still waiting to be able to lift my head off my pillow. This is an absolutely terrible drug for me. I'm going to find something else. This is not living. I'm also going to find another doctor. Shame on her for starting me on this stuff."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have been taking Ozempic for 10 weeks for both weight loss, which I have struggled with for years, and diabetes. I experienced nausea, constipation, slight dizziness, and headaches, but nothing that I couldn't manage, and only for 1 or 2 weeks of each increased dose. Went from 0.25 to 0.5, and now I'm on week 2 of the highest dose, 1.0, and currently have no side effects. I have also lost 19 lb so far, the doctor advised a 1200-calorie diet, and I couldn't be happier. My blood levels have come down from high 7's to 6.4, and the doctor is considering taking me off my usual diabetic medication, Empagliflozin. Some folks are saying, 'don't take it,' but just because their body didn't take to it doesn't mean you won't! And you could be missing out on what I would say is a game-changing medicine. I would say give it a go. And I wouldn't give up now for anything. My health has significantly improved. (Free to diabetics in the UK)."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started on Ozempic 3 months ago. I immediately had nausea, a shaky feeling, tinnitus, lightheadedness, and vision issues, which got worse each time the dosage was increased. I only managed to tolerate the higher 1 mg dose for 3 weeks before I ended up in the emergency dept with pancreatitis. My consultant stopped the medication, and 3 weeks later I’m slowly getting better. But I continue to have gastric issues and dizziness. You really need to be careful with this drug and weigh up the risks. It took a heavy toll on my health with moderate, slow weight loss. Tighter control and patient monitoring should be compulsory with this drug."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Please state how much you are on, it is helpful to others. I am on .5. Type 2 diabetic, 25 years. I started on .25 and moved up to .5 after a month. I have lost about 17 lbs thus far and am back into a size 8 (US) dress. I have had a lot of nausea, constipation, and dizziness. They may move me up to a .75 dose, as my sugar is controlled, but not as well as it could be. However, this medication has been life-changing. I have stopped taking all glucose-lowering pills and take no insulin now. I am on Jardiance too, a similar drug. These new meds are fantastic. If you are on the fence, give these a try, they are much more effective than the older drugs, in my opinion."

For Type 2 Diabetes "This medication started off okay for the first week, then all hell broke loose. Stomach pains, stomach bloating, a feeling of nausea but cannot bring up, dizziness, and a feeling of severe unwellness. Finally admitted to the hospital where a blood sugar doctor stopped the use immediately and put me on to tablets."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I really wanted to lose weight, BMI 28, age 60. There is no history of type 2 diabetes. Used the drug on my own, started the course in March 2022 at 0.25 for 4 weeks, then increased to 0.5 for 8 weeks, and finally switched to a dose of 0.75. I did not increase the dose further after 4 months. Experienced a panic attack with a pulse of 187. Took a break for a month and then started with a dose of 0.15. Continued using it as a maintenance dose for 11 months. Experienced very little nausea. Lost 25 kg in a year, resulting in a BMI of 19. Side effects include nausea, fatigue, apathy, and dizziness. I stopped taking Ozempic in June 2023 because a Holter monitor showed episodes of atrial fibrillation. I believe these episodes were associated with Ozempic, and my cardiologist also does not rule out the possibility that the panic attacks were indirectly caused by the effects of Ozempic on the sympathetic nervous system. My face appears to have aged significantly, making me look older than my actual age by 10 years."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Ozempic has really helped with my blood sugar, starting in the mid-250s and lowering to 100-114 in some cases. I had some rapid weight loss, which was about 10 pounds. I had no appetite and worried I wasn’t getting the correct nutrition. Lack of appetite seemed to decrease as I approached the day of the next dosage. One side effect, which wasn’t listed (and I believed to be from Ozempic), was sensitive skin on the side of my torso just below my armpits, my back waist, and the nape of my neck. I did have slight dizziness from time to time and some tiredness."

For Type 2 Diabetes "First 4 weeks I injected 0.25 mg units once a week. Second 2 weeks I injected 0.50 mg units once a week. I have lost 7 lbs. I am injecting 40% less insulin. My A1c has reduced from 7.0 to 6.6. This all sounds great, but the adverse side effects have me on the verge of stopping my use of Ozempic permanently. I have experienced confusion, dizziness, nausea, unusual tiredness, weakness, passing gas, and feeling the need to vomit, these are the most prevalent side effects. The side effects are interfering with my lifestyle too much."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started taking Ozempic at 0.025 mg for two months, primarily relying on meal replacements for diabetes twice a day along with a small amount of cereal (Grape Nuts). During those two months, I lost 30 pounds. However, I experienced dizzy spells because I was also taking high blood pressure medication. Once I stopped the blood pressure medication, the dizziness went away. I then increased my Ozempic dosage to 0.050 mg, and that's when things took a turn for the worse. I started having sulfur burps (long and frequent belching), excessive gas, diarrhea, and if I overate cereal, I would vomit. Even if I didn't eat anything, I would still experience vomiting. I lowered the insulin dosage, and it improved. After a month, I was able to handle the 0.050 mg dosage. Later, I increased it to 1 mg. At this point, I wasn't losing weight anymore, but I experienced hunger pains and started eating other things. On and off, I would have episodes of diarrhea, belching, and gas. Additionally, I started experiencing pain under both sides of my ribs, bloating, belching, diarrhea, and gas. I had blood work done, which revealed that my thyroid levels were significantly off. I am scheduled for an ultrasound to examine my thyroid, pancreas, liver, gallbladder, and GI tract, among others."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Ozempic is definitely helpful in lowering my A1C, and for that, I am very grateful. I have struggled with type 2 diabetes for over thirty years. However, I am enduring dizziness, mild nausea, tiredness, and a general feeling of being unwell. In the days of my elevated sugar count, I actually felt well, without any of these symptoms. I am experimenting with the dosage of Ozempic and intend to cut back to the 0.5 mg dose next week. I just can't handle the 1 mg."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started on 0.25 for four weeks, had nausea, dizziness, burping nonstop every day, off-the-wall gas, and bloating. Went on 0.5, more or less the same side effects except more abdominal pain. Then went to 1 mg, my skin started feeling like I had a bad sunburn from the waist up. It hurt when clothes touched it. Four weeks later, went on 2 mg. All same symptoms. Then I started having severe neck pain and shoulder pain. Was on 8 months and only lost 16 pounds. A1c went from 7.5 to 5.5, but a lot had to do with eating less. I have EPI, so it was not worth it to me to take it anymore. Also, thyroid cancer runs in my family. Had a friend tell me her friend got thyroid cancer after 3 months, also had a lot of diarrhea. Now I'm off, no symptoms, skin feels better, and sugar around 130."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have taken a smaller dose than prescribed (0.25) and anticipate increasing it if I tolerate it well. So far in my first week, I have felt some nausea, weakness, and dizziness. I plan on cutting back on food intake, in particular, my carbs, and will also increase my exercise routine to include walking or jogging for 60 minutes daily."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have been on Ozempic since December 22 with a prescription from doctor. My goal was to lose 25 lbs from 165 lbs. I originally was down from 225 lbs and slowly lost it on my own. I also had well-controlled type 2 diabetes. My first month on 0.25 I had some gastro issues, but nothing major. I was losing the weight slowly but steadily. I continued to increase my dosage up to 2mg over 5 months. I also have Multiple Sclerosis and have no idea what is causing this worsening of shortness of breath and dizziness upon standing. Long story short, I finally hit 142 lbs, 2 lbs short of my goal, and the Ozempic plateaus. For about 3 weeks I didn’t lose anything, but today lost a lb. I have 1.6 lbs to goal. I am both scared to go off the Ozempic, and glad to at the same time. My last diabetes A1C was 4.9, the lowest in my life and I was thrilled! I don’t want it to go up, but I can’t live on this forever."
