For Insomnia "I am prescribed 50mg dose Seroquel at night about 45min. before bed for sleep. It also stops my restless leg syndrome! Not what it is usually prescribed for but it does the trick. I have been using it for 3 years with no side effects."

For Insomnia "I feel like taking Seroquel MUST be like getting roofied. I took the 100mg and it literally knocked me out for 12 hours straight. Then after waking up, you're groggy for at least another 6 hours and are grumpy to people around you. I also got restless leg syndrome or some kind of VERY weird involuntary leg movements. I would ALSO always wake up in some kind of pain and it might be due to the fact that you're so knocked out your contorting your body in unusual positions while you sleep. I then got reduced halfway to the 50mg which did the SAME thing but with half of the SAME effects!!! Seroquel seems like a dangerous drug to me and I've been on a few."

Seroquel XR (quetiapine) for Depression "I've had depression since I was a young teenager. I didn't decide to get treatment until I was 24. I felt like I was unraveling. I didn't want to get out of bed. I lost interest in all the things that I once loved to do. I had problems with drugs and alcohol. Sleeping problems. The whole nine yards. The medication that my doctor decided to put me on was Seroquel XR. I was a little apprehensive at first, being a drug user for many years, I knew what Seroquel was. My doctor assured me that in a controlled and carefully watched environment, she believed it would help. She started me on 50 mgs. I've moved to 150 mgs. I've had drastic positive changes in my mood. I feel happy, rested, and content. No negative side effects. It worked miracles."

For Depression "Caution!; many reports here are from sub <100 mg dosages! These doses are not approved for depression. 150-300mg have been studied in multiple trials with positive results. So if you want to take reports here seriously, at least look for those reports that actually report dosages clinically approved for depression! On a side note; I have used quetiapine for 8 months, and overall its been a very good medication for me. The positives; -not only is it anti-depressive for me, but it also allivate my mood over my "normal" not-depressant mood. - works very good for social anxiety for me(although in average this has not been seen in trials). Negative; makes me tired the first 3 hours of the day, which is not trivial. (English is my second language, I rarely write it, so the spelling is probably not great.)"

Seroquel (quetiapine) for Schizophrenia "I've been taking Seroquel for a long time. It destroyed my life. It's addictive because when you stop taking it, you'll never be able to sleep again. There's no getting off of it. I sleep in till 2 to 5 pm every day. I'm sluggish all day. It never helped with any of my symptoms of schizophrenia. It makes me crave sugar immensely. This drug is very dangerous. You have to be very careful when taking it. Don't drive or be around people you don't know or trust. Let's just say I could sleep through anything. This drug should be illegal even if it does help some people with their mental illness. There are other things people can take. Risperdal, for example, does wonders for me. I'm working with my doctor on getting off of Seroquel. I didn't do it sooner because I'm so sick I can barely accomplish anything really. I just want to say to all schizophrenics I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry that NOBODY has any idea of what's happening to you."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "The quetiapine completely took away my intrusive thoughts. I couldn't talk to people as the intrusive thoughts were always there. I couldn't listen to music because the intrusive thoughts would come, and couldn't go out with friends. Now, this medication has changed all that. I was battling this for years, and they finally put me on the right medication."

Seroquel (quetiapine) for Schizophrenia "My son has autism and anxiety. He started experiencing psychosis/auditory hallucinations at age 18...so bad he would yell and get very angry. We have started Seroquel, been on it for over 2 months now, some improvement but not great. His doc has now upped it from 25mg to 500 mg. Along with Mirtazapine and Ativan for sleep. Hoping we can stay ahead of his episodes instead of chasing them. I'll give an update. Super helpful to read others' reviews. Praying we see some good results."

For Insomnia "I've been taking 12.5 to 25 mg quite frequently for insomnia I've had for decades. It works like a charm. No weight gain, etc. I am groggy when I wake up, but coffee takes care of it. I hope it works this well the rest of my life."

For Insomnia "I had severe depression and could not sleep at all. My husband can testify that I could be awake for 4 days in a row. I had anxiety attacks. I was on Cymbalta, Lamotrigine, and Molipaxin. But the depression stayed, and my sleep did not improve at all. I was hospitalized 3 times in less than 3 years. The last time I was gradually put on bigger doses of Seroquel - up to 400mg. The last 2 days I slept through the whole night - deep sleep! I have been on it for more than 5 years. I take it at night - about an hour before I want to sleep. I have slept every night. My mood has been stable all these years - no depression, anxiety attacks, or weight gain. I do have difficulty getting 'fully awake' in the morning. But I would rather have this 'side effect'."

Seroquel (quetiapine) for Bipolar Disorder "I love Seroquel but not the XR type. Helps you to sleep well at night and wake up feeling great. Gives you major munchies at night and woke up with Reese's Pieces all over the bed. Does help with a lot on highs and lows. So for me it's worth a little weight gain. Overall this medicine has changed my life."

For Generalized Anxiety Disorder "My doctor prescribed Quetiapine 50 mg for my anxiety. I took one before bedtime. Unfortunately, I couldn’t sleep; it felt like I was closing my eyes but couldn't shut down my brain. After 6 hours of very light and inconsistent sleep, I decided not to stay in bed and got up. Once I sat down, I started feeling my heart pounding very hard. I went to the restroom, and then the palpitations went from bad to worse. I had a severe panic attack that lasted for almost 45 minutes. It was a horrible experience for me!"

Seroquel (quetiapine) for Bipolar Disorder "After suffering all of my life with depression and then later in life (20-33) with severe anxiety, insomnia, and a general feeling of restlessness to the point I thought I was going to 'crawl the walls', I was prescribed Seroquel. I quickly found out I had to take my dose at bedtime due to being so sleepy when I took it during the day. Seroquel has been the ONLY medicine that has worked for me to ease the symptoms of my Bipolar Disorder 1. A Big Thanks to Seroquel for making life easier for me!"

Seroquel (quetiapine) for Bipolar Disorder "I can now see my own signs of mania or depression (having had Dialectical Behavioral Therapy for six months). With that said, the meds are not miracles, and after some dialectical treatment to add to my “toolbox”, Seroquel really helps. When I am restless, having racing thoughts, and feeling moody, I feel well-balanced after about 48-72 hours of using coping skills and adding Seroquel to prevent lack of sleep, which can worsen thoughts, moods, eating, etc. For me, it’s very helpful to have self-relaxation skills to manage my reactions. I give this medication, after months of skill work, an A++. My experience is not to say it is 100% fluent to all bipolar sufferers. The good thing is that DBT is not a medication so it won’t hurt to try it as a “tool”. The side effects are mild. It does make me drowsy, and I sometimes get an oily face, yet I can accept that over extended episodes. I also have to keep drinking lots of water as dry mouth is mild and I do feel thirsty."

For Insomnia "This specific medication has a bit of an angel/devil quality to it. In the previous posts, I see the possibility for some confused/misdiagnosed causes of insomnia. In bipolar people, regular prescription sleep aids don't really work because bipolar individuals can't sleep due to their brains having a hard time turning off or turning on very quickly. I took 600mg of Seroquel for years, and it worked well to control the associated symptoms as it is an atypical antipsychotic with a mood stabilizing quality (the ONLY med of its kind), but put me in a 'fog'. After coming off the high dose for 2 or 3 years and suffering from bad insomnia, I asked to go on a low dose of Seroquel to get some sleep. My psychiatrist gave me 50mg, and it's working well. It's gonna work for some people, and it'll be a nightmare for others. Make sure you're being prescribed this medication by a psychiatrist NOT a GP or any other doc that can't validate why they choose to give you an atypical antipsychotic for sleep. Best wishes."

For Generalized Anxiety Disorder "I can honestly say that quetiapine has saved my life. I take between 25mg during the day and 50mg at night. Anxiety is a wearing experience, like a caterpillar gnawing away at your well-being in an endless cycle. I have been on it for about 7 years now, and I was prescribed it by a one-time visit to a psychiatrist at the surgery. The winter months with the dark nights here in the UK can be unremitting, but this little pill does so much and is not addictive. If you're in doubt, go for it... although all drugs work differently for everyone."

For Insomnia "My doctor put me on a low dose of quetiapine to help with sleep as I also have mood issues. Quetiapine works very well to help you sleep. Before I started taking it, it would take me probably 2 to 3 hours to fall asleep on my own, within a half hour of quetiapine I could sleep. This was great at first, however, now, if I don't take it I can't sleep AT ALL. If I don't take it, for whatever reason, no matter how tired I am, my body will not fall asleep. I have been up for more than 30 hours multiple times. I can lay in bed in complete silence and darkness for 12 hours and not fall asleep for a minute. My body is dependent and I don't like it at all. I just want to be able to even take a nap in the afternoon without taking something. If this is what the lowest dose can do, I can't imagine if I was on a higher dose."

Seroquel (quetiapine) for Schizoaffective Disorder "My experience with quetiapine is amazingly positive. I tried, invega (that was bad) with unsuccessful results. I take Queatipine at a dose of 50mg at night and it makes me so much more relaxed and without any kind of bad feelings or thoughts. If you wanna be healthy and active during your days, this drug is highly recommended. In my case is used during night before sleep. It works!"

Seroquel (quetiapine) for Bipolar Disorder "I suffer from Bipolar II, take 200mg Lamictal daily, and was prescribed 25mg Seroquel to take at night to help me sleep during hypomanic episodes. My psychiatrist claimed it would calm the racing thoughts, help me fall asleep, and hopefully make me think more clearly during the day. After taking it, I would still be awake for a couple hours trying to sleep and still having racing thoughts. In the morning, I had the worst experiences trying to wake up. I wasn’t trying to wake up early or anything, like 11 on my free days so I could sleep in, and even then I could barely open my eyes enough to turn off my alarm and would immediately fall back asleep. After finally waking up, I felt groggy and disoriented throughout the day. I couldn’t think straight, and was unable to focus during my classes. Not a good experience. I only took it a few times, and decided it was only having negative effects so I stopped taking it."

For Generalized Anxiety Disorder "I found Seroquel to be the wonder drug for my anxiety problems (due to long-term drug use). I was prescribed it five years ago at 100 mg a day. That has decreased to 50 mg at night, but I have since made the decision that I am ready to decrease this further to 25 mg a day, then down to none, as I have been free from addiction for the past five years I have been taking Seroquel. In my mind though, I would never have gotten through the debilitating anxiety that followed without the help of Seroquel."

For Depression "Seroquel has been life-changing for me. I struggled with insomnia for years. Currently diagnosed with bipolar type II, I was prescribed Lamotrigine and Seroquel. Seroquel has helped me tremendously. I’m sleeping better than I ever have, and I’ve actually lost weight with this medication because now that I’m sleeping, I actually have the energy to work out every day. I am so thankful for this medication!"

Seroquel (quetiapine) for Schizoaffective Disorder "Seroquel knocked me out so bad that I slept 18 hours... the heavy sedation effect does go away though. It did not help at all with my schizophrenia. But it did make me put on a lot of weight. Altogether, antipsychotics have made me put on a ton of weight. I've tried many of them. And I used to weigh 160 pounds and now am 220... so far that's all these drugs have done to me, they should be called fat pills."

Seroquel (quetiapine) for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "300 mg 4x/day. I used to have horrible hyper-vigilance, hyper-startle, anxiety, paranoia, insomnia symptoms. NOTHING (meditation, yoga, EMDR, etc.) helped that much, let alone fix it. So, the doctor said to try this. Because of my side-effect sensitivity, my doctor started me on 25 mg. That first night, I slept a full night for the first time in months. But then I started sleeping too much - up to 14 hrs a day on the weekends. We backed off to 12.5 mg & my life CHANGED. I'm under more stress right now so my dose is back to 25 mg & I'm doing great on it. It pulls me down out of that watchfulness that prevents me from doing anything but surviving (and poorly, at that). For me, after a near-lifetime of struggle, this is a miracle."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "This drug is the only drug I have ever taken that helps my massive anxiety and suicidal depression. I believe I am a high functioning borderline, and I was spinning out of control after a traumatic breakup with my partner. This drug saved my life! It worked immediately, the first night I took it. It took away all my suicidal thoughts that were completely overwhelming me — likely saving me from a stay at a psychiatric hospital. It has also helped eradicate obsessive thoughts about my ex partner and compulsion to contact my partner. I feel calm and relatively reasonable. I’m an attorney, and I can now focus on work so much better! Before, I was simply overwhelmed and could not focus enough to comprehend documents and client comments/emails. I don’t know how this drug works, but what a godsend! I’m on 50mg nightly. I am so grateful!"
