For Nasal Congestion "I was a very fit 54-year-old male until just last November 2010. I was diagnosed with severe chronic heart failure, and my heart is operating at 25%, and I have to use CPAP at night when I sleep, as I apparently stop breathing at night. The short of it is that I unfortunately used this nasal spray every day for the last 3 years, and maybe 3-4 times a day. It would appear I have given myself this condition by misusing this nasal spray. I had a chest X-ray 4 years ago, my lungs and heart were fine, and there have been no heart problems in my family. So the reason I have commented is to warn others to use the nasal spray correctly, and if the condition of congestion persists, get off to a doctor. Thank you for your time."

Afrin (oxymetazoline) for Nasal Congestion "What have they done?! They used a very cheap manufactured plastic bottle which can't be opened and used until drilling a hole into it, which leads to wasting half the liquid. Secondly, its use makes your congestion worse, completely blocked after its temporary effect is gone. You end up having no choice but to become addicted to its use. Never recommend it to anyone."

For Nasal Congestion "This medicine is very effective at first glance, but it is quite addictive. I suffer from asthma and have a always congested nose. Still, my nose was never too congested to have to use these, so I limited the use only when I had a cold. I had a lung infection about a year ago and had to take antibiotics and this for about 2 weeks. When I tried to quit it, my nose would get more congested than when I was sick. I thought this would go away within 1 or 2 days. Finally, I had to go back to using the spray again, and I was hooked. I have been trying to minimize the use of it, but every time I quit, it causes that horrible congestion without me having any cold or flu."

Afrin (oxymetazoline) for Nasal Congestion "My weak little baby hands had no issue getting the cap off. It took one second. Ya'll must need some serious help on a regular basis if you can't handle this easy-to-remove cap. I used this stuff for the first time last night, and it is amazing! I could not breathe AT ALL, and within a minute I could breathe clearly like nothing was wrong. It REALLY works! It’s a fantastic product, and I regret not using it for past common cold congestion issues while trying to sleep. Read the warnings and the side effects. Don’t abuse the drug. As they state on the directions, you should not need it for more than 3 days. If you have prolonged sinus issues, maybe try something else for regular use so you don’t cause harm. Thanks, Afrin!"

Afrin (oxymetazoline) for Nasal Congestion "I am laughing reading the frustration with the cap. I use Afrin, the best nasal decongestant, period, every time I cannot breathe to sleep. When the medicine wears off, the nose seems more congested than when I started. Now, I learned to only use Afrin in only one nostril. When it wears off in 10-12 hours, I spray the same nostril again. When the cold is gone, the other nostril clears up. Then I stop using Afrin, and about a day later, the medicated nostril clears up too."
