For Migraine "Ok, my experience is just the same as everybody else's on this site. I went to the hospital for some stomach pain, and they gave me Reglan through the IV. I got paralyzed in my arm and body, I couldn't move, I couldn't talk. I just wanted to scream, I felt like I was dying. I never had a panic attack in my whole life until that moment. I couldn't breathe, I couldn't dial my husband's phone number to tell him that I thought it was the end for me. That's how bad I felt. It was like I was really passing out, and my heart was coming out of my chest. This happened about 4 months ago. Now the problem is that since then, I have anxiety almost every day for no reason, panic attacks for no reason. I feel agitated and always have the fear that something is wrong with me, afraid I may pass away and leave my kids behind. Did any of you experience the same thing as I am and can't get out of this anxiety? Please send me some answers. If the side effects persist for a long time, what can I do to go back to normal life again?"

For Migraine "I went to the ER for a migraine. They gave me a migraine concoction, and after they put it in my IV, I started having the scariest panic attack of my life. I suffer from an anxiety disorder and panic attacks, but never this extreme. I kept feeling as if I was dying and I kept telling the nurse I don’t want to die. I could not shake the feeling or calm down no matter how hard I tried and was extremely drugged. They gave me a whole bunch of Benadryl to counteract and told me it has anxiety-inducing reactions on some people! I told them before they administered that I have an anxiety disorder, and they still gave it to me! It took me almost an hour to calm down! I do not recommend it!"

For Migraine "I went to the ER complaining of a migraine. I was put on Toradol, Benadryl, and Reglan. I have gotten Toradol shots for my migraines over the last couple of weeks with absolutely no problem whatsoever. I also have never had an adverse reaction to Benadryl in my life. So I know the Reglan is to blame. Within 5 minutes of this drug polluting my veins, I felt an insanely strong urge to rip my IV out of my arm. I got extremely restless, like I had to keep moving. I felt like I needed to leave the hospital immediately and was in a total panic. I couldn’t sit still, I just felt like something terrible was happening. This drug definitely induced an anxiety or some sort of panic attack. I do not recommend this at all."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was 2 months pregnant and losing weight. My OB/GYN prescribed Reglan, and since then, my life changed. After two weeks of taking it, I woke up with a panic attack. The first one I ever had. I emailed my doctor, and she said it’s normal, you are hormonal. The symptoms started with that panic attack. Then I was afraid of the dark, I was unable to be alone, lack of sleep, my brain thinking extremely fast, no connection between my body and brain. My appetite started to disappear, and I had one moment of clear thinking and went to the ER. The doctor told me I had Akathisia induced by Reglan. When that happened, my self-confidence, character, independence, and happiness were gone. To make this story short, I saw a psychiatrist, attended therapy, yoga, and what I believe saved me: acupuncture! My parents moved to my house to stay with me. I retrained my brain, and the panic attacks started to disappear."

For Migraine "Had a headache for 4 weeks. Very severe. Tried everything OTC. Went to ER. Dr. gave a migraine cocktail with Reglan and Benadryl. I weigh 130, 5'6. I immediately started feeling ridiculous anxiety, shaking uncontrollably. Short of breath, feeling like I was going to pass out, and my heart rate was dropping. I felt like I was going to die. I couldn’t even talk to my husband on the phone. Wanted to rip out the IV. I actually stopped the IV and hit the button for help. They had closed the door and I got severe panic. Once the IV was done, they gave me Valium, which helped a little and sent me home. Still had the headache slightly. Have some side effects in the evening and now today. How long does it take to wear off? Awful, awful experience."

For Migraine "Caused immediate dystonic reaction, hallucinations, derealization, depersonalization, agoraphobia, monophobia, daily panic attacks, severe depression, akathisia, legs stopped working, muscle tremors, severe fatigue, chills, fainting, diarrhea, nausea, dry heaving, loss of appetite, acid reflux, shortness of breath, red burning skin, numbness in limbs, headache, restlessness, chest pain. Was given this drug via IV one-time dose! It has now been 6 months and I am still completely disabled, feels like I'm living in a dream, scared all of the time, can't eat, no joy, suffering for months on end. I’ve heard it can take a year or more to recover. Please join the Reglan Support Group on Facebook if you are suffering long-term effects from this med and don’t let doctors gaslight you! Keep in mind I have no history of mental illness and now have similar issues to TBI and severe panic disorder."

For Migraine "I went to the hospital for hypertension, which caused an excruciating headache. I was given Benadryl + Reglan and almost immediately started to feel strange. I couldn’t sit still, I got hot and sweaty, and wanted to stand up, but I couldn’t due to the IVs. I was screaming to unhook me and just wanted to leave. I couldn’t shake the feeling that I needed to go home. I felt like I was dying. I became paranoid and anxious to the point I ripped the IV out of my hand-blood was dripping everywhere, and the sight of it made me vomit. It was a huge mess, and I couldn’t calm down. I finally just ran right out of the hospital and went home. Now I know by reading it was definitely a reaction to the Reglan, and I am definitely adding it to my drug list of absolute intolerance. It didn’t take my headache away and caused the worst panic attack I have ever had when I don’t have a history of panic attacks. Seems to me you should be warned about these types of side effects beforehand."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was given Reglan via IV and mouth just prior to both of my c-sections. On both occasions, within minutes, I was very anxious. On the operating table, I had an anxiety attack and was begging for someone to help me. Everyone just thought I was freaking out because it was a c-section. I thought I had gone crazy. It ruined both of my childbirth experiences because I didn't care about the birth - all I wanted was to crawl out of my skin and disappear so I could get away from the awful panic and anxiety. Although I was physically present for the birth, mentally and emotionally, I had checked out."

For Nausea/Vomiting "They gave me Reglan in the ER for my nausea I was having due to my pregnancy. The nurse slowly pushed it into my IV and walked out. As soon as he closed that door, my body set into panic. I was extremely uncomfortable, I wanted to get out of my own skin. I felt like I was suffocating and started sweating from the panic, so I was hot and feeling like I was going into a bad anxiety attack. I had racing thoughts, and I thought I was going insane, but I didn’t know why. I have anxiety, but not that made me feel like that. After 5 minutes of realizing I couldn’t calm down on my own, I rang for my nurse, and she came in knowing exactly what was going on. I mean, I'm literally in here close to ripping this IV out of my arm, so I’ll take nausea over this feeling any day. Do not take this medicine if you don’t have to or have pre-existing anxiety. I know there aren’t many options for pregnant women, but this is a kind of torture I could live without."

For Migraine "So just last night, I went to the hospital for a virus accompanied by a migraine. The doctor decides to give me a Benadryl and a shot of Reglan. 3 to 5 minutes after the Reglan has set in (I know it was the Reglan because I take Benadryl no problem), I go into a full-blown panic attack. I have this complete sense of dread. I felt as though if I didn't get out of my own skin, or just that hospital, I felt I was going to die then and there. I honestly don't think actually dying will be as bad a feeling as this. I ripped out my IV, there was blood flinging everywhere along with the fluids that were dripping in. The doctor runs in, yells at me, then goes out and slams the door behind him, which totally intensified my panic, and I ran out of the hospital. The whole way home, I just kept thinking I wouldn't survive to see my kids again. It felt like an hour drive, and it was literally 5 minutes. Never again."

For Migraine "I went to the ER for extreme neck and head pain. They said they were going to treat me with a headache cocktail. The nurse shot 3 medicines in me quickly. The first was Reglan. Immediately after she put this in my IV, I felt an intense pressure in my chest and I could barely breathe. I began to feel so restless and jittery. I wanted to jump up and rip the IV out and run. I tried to lay there and calm down, but I felt terrible intense anxiety and worried I was going to die. I felt panic like never before. I thought something was wrong with me, I'm so glad I'm not alone. I'll never agree to this medicine again, and my head still hurt when I left!"

For Nausea/Vomiting "I went to the emergency room for hyperemesis gravidarum and dehydration. My doctor first gave me Zofran through my IV, it didn’t work. I was still throwing up. So, he gave me a dissolvable tablet of Zofran. Still throwing up. So next, he puts Reglan through my IV and says he’ll be back to check on me. I literally started going insane. My husband was in the room trying to keep me calm because I started twisting and turning in the bed and yelling. I was having a panic attack. Now I’m here reading these comments, and it makes sense. Lol. It did help with my nausea, and I ended up filling a prescription for it, but I’ll only take it if it’s absolutely necessary."

For Migraine "This was the worst medication reaction I've ever had and had no idea that this was possible! I am having a bad reaction from starting an SSRI for the first time and ended up in the ER vomiting and spinning and having been in a panic attack for about 8 hours (I thought that was bad too, just wait). The RN gave me straight Reglan in my arm and 30 seconds later I'm screaming at the top of my lungs, 'my legs my legs my legs!!!!' And the most terrifying feeling of 'I'm going to die' ensued. I wanted to run as fast as I could away. From myself or nothing. Basically, I was a star in one of those movies where you see someone being operated on in an alien spaceship and the person is awake and terrified. There were 3 security guards and 4 nurses in the room all looking at me while I had this crazy psychotic reaction. I've never felt more embarrassed and terrified at the same time! DO NOT RECOMMEND"

For Migraine "I had been treated in the ER for a migraine and received Toradol and some other anti-nausea meds, and I did wonderfully. Then, 2 mo. later, I went to the ER for a migraine, and they wanted to try something new: Toradol and Reglan. I thought to myself, the other treatment worked well, why change it? But the ER doc insisted. Toradol in IV was great, Reglan went in, and I felt it burn up my arm. I became agitated, and within 30 seconds, I said to my husband, I think I'm having a panic attack, and then I did! I am a medical professional, and here I was yelling for the nurses because I thought I was going to die. My poor husband! It was a wild experience of feeling like I was passing out, but I was lying down. It felt like I was losing blood flow to my brain. Horrible experience!"

For Migraine "I was given this medicine through an IV while visiting the ER for a migraine. Reglan gave me the worst feeling that I've ever had. I had a major panic attack within minutes. I had weird thoughts, and my body could not stop shaking, especially my legs. There was a pool of sweat under me. I felt trapped and thought I was going to die. I wanted to tear out the IV needle and leave. The panic only lasted 2 hours, but it felt like 2 days. I hope to never have that feeling again."

For Lactation Augmentation "I was given Reglan off-label to promote the progesterone hormone to increase my breast milk supply after my son was born. After taking it steadily and gradually upping the dose after a couple of weeks, I started having severe side effects. I went in to work one morning and couldn’t remember how to do my job, I would fall asleep at traffic lights, had difficulty concentrating and focusing my eyes, and finally started having severe panic attacks, depression, and tardive dyskinesia. I ended up in the ER and had to get under psychiatric care. 14 years later, I still have to be on anxiety meds, and if I try to get off, the symptoms return. Be very careful taking this medicine."

For Migraine "I just wanted to say, as someone who suffered immensely because of this drug, the reviews here regarding other people's experiences have been a great comfort to me as I now know I am not alone, nor am I crazy for having felt it. The sheer, true panic this drug caused me is completely indescribable. Before taking Reglan, I had no problem with doctors, hospitals, or even needles. I went to the hospital a couple of months ago for a very severe migraine, and they gave me Reglan for nausea. Within moments of having taken it, I experienced the most insane panic attack of my life. I don't even know if you can describe it as simply a 'panic attack' because it was so much more and so much worse than that. I nearly ripped the IV out of my arm."

For Migraine "I have severe migraines. I would say on a monthly basis, and usually they give me morphine through the IV in the ER room. But one time, the doctor decided to give me this Reglan, which changed my life into the worst! I do not know how this medicine can treat something! I felt a burning sensation first in my stomach, and then I started to think that I'm going to die because I wanted to pull out the IV, and I was restless, shaking, panicking, anxious, and I wanted to pull out the IV line. The nurses looked at me like I was possessed by a demon! After one year, I still feel anxious and weird. I know this med changed my life into the worst!"

For Migraine "I had had a stroke on Dec 17, 10 days after a stent had been put in my neck. A few nights later, I had to go to the ER as I had the worst headache of my life on the left side of my head. They said they were going to give me a concoction that takes away any kind of headache. It was Reglan, Benadryl, and Pepcid...and I'm sorry for all the negativity on these other posts, it almost seems like the same person keeps coming in and saying the same things....'Cause I get panic attacks very easily, but this concoction not only knocked me out for 5 hrs. It took the headache totally away, so a big thumbs up, they even gave me a prescription for Reglan..."

For Migraine "If you have never taken this drug, don't! Reglan was given to me for my migraine. I have anxiety normally. Once given Reglan, I had panic attacks, jumping up, freaking out, trying to get the hell out of the hospital. They wouldn't let me leave, so I started ripping out my IV and started walking out. They caught me and strapped me down, which I fought. I cried, my body shook, impending dread, depression with an overactive panic attack. Forgo the Benadryl. It didn't help but said I was 'allergic to it,' so they gave me Benadryl, and they gave me 2 mg of Lorazepam, and I started to calm down. I wanted to die. Since then, I tell them I'm allergic to it, but I still have panic attacks every time I'm in the ER and severe anxiety. I need meds for it now."

For Migraine "I had a severe migraine for several days. Norco and Fioricet weren't even touching the pain. Finally, I gave in and went into the ER. They gave me what they called a cocktail including Reglan and Benadryl. Nothing that was actually intended for pain, but I was willing to try anything, so I didn't comment. That was the day I experienced my first ever panic attack. I couldn't vocalize what was wrong, I was hot, thrashing, and grasping at my IV, my heart was racing, and I thought I was actually dying. It sounds so dramatic, but there really aren't words to describe the feeling of the moment that you believe your life is ending. Those of you who suffer from panic attacks, you have my respect and sympathy. Traumatized from Reglan. Never again!"

I am 12 weeks pregnant and went to the emergency room because I couldn't keep anything down, so they started an IV and shot this medication straight into the IV, and when it hit me, I felt horrible, like I was having a panic attack. I also broke out in a rash. Never again!!! Horrible experience!"

For Nausea/Vomiting "I have never heard of anyone with the same reaction to Reglan until finding this forum. I had a c-section with the delivery of my 2nd son 11 years ago. I became extremely ill after I was given the medication to numb me. The doctor gave me Reglan I.V., and in about 60 seconds, I started sweating, my heart was racing, and I felt like I was climbing out of my skin. I felt the need to get up, but I was numb from the waist down and almost had a panic attack. I started screaming, 'WHAT DID YOU GIVE ME!!' It was horrifying! I literally thought I was dying. As soon as I started screaming, he gave me Benadryl, and the feeling went away pretty quickly. Not the way I wanted to be feeling on the day my son was born. Remember the name and be cautious. HORRIBLE DRUG!!"

For Nausea/Vomiting "One of the most terrifying experiences of my life. I was given Reglan through IV. I began sweating profusely and became very agitated. It progressed until I was inconsolable. I began begging my husband to help me escape the hospital. He told me I was crying and slapping myself. I was pacing around the room, sitting down and then immediately standing back up. My eyes were darting around. I remember being very suspicious of everyone around me. Anxiety does not even cover it. I've had panic attacks before and this was something else, something much worse. The only way I was able to keep myself from exploding was by hurting myself. I dug my nails into my skin and pinched myself till bleeding. Truly one of the worst experiences of my life. Please don’t risk this medication. There are other options."
