"After reading many other reviews on here, I would ascertain that if you have any tendency of depression, anxiety, mood disorder, this medication should be avoided. I’m on my second day, and I’ve been seriously blue, depressed, and unable to sleep at night. I’m frustrated because I do think it’s doing wonders for my joints and double plantar fasciitis, which were so painful a couple of days ago I walked difficultly. That alone made my life depressing... but now, this feels very different. Not sure what to do at this point, but will definitely weigh the pros and cons and grab a couple of Xanax before bed for sure. UGH."

"My doctor prescribed me methylprednisolone for a sinus infection after an antibiotic did not work. I have had two cervical fusion operations and am fused from C4-8. I have had pain in my neck for 5 years, ever since the second surgery. I am on the second day of the steroid and have no discomfort in my neck. I can't believe it, and it is too good to be true. Wondering how long this will last."

"I was prescribed this medicine for swollen tonsils, as I came up negative on the strep test. I was hesitant at first after reading reviews, but with our Europe trip in a week (at the time), I wanted to feel better, so I took it. The 6-day pack, tapering down the dosage. The first day and every time after, I had a headache and felt slightly nauseous. I was in a great mood as our trip was fast approaching. Fast forward to 2/3 days after the pack, my tonsils are swollen once again and ongoing headaches and terrible mood swings. I feel great sadness then anger. This is totally not my personality. It’s the day of our trip, and I’m sitting here holding tears back as I write this review. I hope this goes away quickly."

"Had a horrible cough. Choking so bad I actually hurt my neck. I was sure it was bronchitis. Dr. said no. Prescribed me this. First 2 days were fine. Then horrible stomach pains, no appetite, red rash on my face would come and go. I'm so extremely tired that no amount of sleep helps, leg cramps, I'm so sore all over I feel like I have been beaten, jaw pain. The list can go on. Shortness of breath almost like an anxiety attack. I still have the cough. I'll never take this drug again. I feel horrible."

"I have multiple herniated discs, and I was given the 6-day pack. I followed the instructions, but I've had no improvements. All it did was cause nausea at night, heartburn, insomnia, and had my anxiety through the roof if I tried to fall back to sleep."

"I strained my back and was in pain every time I moved the wrong way or changed positions after working too hard on an outdoor project. My PCP prescribed a methylprednisolone steroid pack. The medication started working the first day and has loosened my back muscles and reduced the pain considerably. I have 1 day left of the medication and feel pretty good. I have a history of depression and did feel a little jittery and have trouble getting to sleep, but nothing too bad that I would stop taking the medicine. Also having gas and the medicine is making me hungry. For me, benefits definitely outweigh the side effects."

"Sorry to hear about the discomfort/side effects of others. By the 2nd day on a generic Medrol dose pack, I breathed a huge sigh of relief. I have wondered why it wasn't offered to me sooner-a real Godsend. It has made the biggest difference in my enjoyment of the holidays. Whether this ends up being temporary or not, it was a nice vacation from pain that was overriding pain meds. Off I go to my first PT session this afternoon, and I'm not dreading it-very thankful."

"I just completed a 5-day pack of methylprednisolone 4 mg, and my neck pain gradually went away, but I am paying the price because I have had an upset stomach, diarrhea, etc. since the third day of the five-day program. However, the pain is almost gone. I hope my stomach restores itself soon because I don't remember feeling so bad. It's like a 5-day hangover."

"I had bronchitis or respiratory infection, and I was given the 6-day pack, 4 mg of methylprednisolone, and it did make me jittery and have energy for the first day. I do have anxiety, but this set me off in panic attacks! I went to the ER twice, once on the last day of the meds and again 2 weeks later, and they say it should be out of my system as I only took it for 6 days, but I’ve been off the meds for 3 weeks now and still have insomnia, where I can’t sleep and wake up every two hours or so when I do. I’ve never taken this medicine before, and after reading about it, I see if you have anxiety it’s something you really shouldn’t take, but the insomnia is insane!"

"Pain in my neck and shoulders was so severe that my ortho doc prescribed this dose pack for cervical degenerative disease. It has helped relieve the pain, but hopes it lasts. The side effects have been dizziness, gas, indigestion, but have been able to lie down to get some sleep."

"I have had horrible tendinitis in both elbows for a year now. Went to the doctor. She prescribed 4 mg methylprednisolone. After 2 days of taking medication, absolutely no side effects and almost no pain in my elbows!! Absolutely wonderful meds!!"

"I only gave it an 8 because of the side effects, flush feeling, puffy face, hunger, etc., but I was in severe pain from an autoimmune issue. My back went out, which in turn made my inflammation all over my body react, so the pain became unbearable. This has happened 2 times, and after only the 1st day, I began to feel relief, and after day 6, I felt like a teenager again, not an old lady who can't move. So, as I don't want to be on it forever, it sure beats feeling like I can't go on anymore because of the pain."

Methylprednisolone "I had not been stung by a wasp in 28 years, and then within a week got stung twice. The first time, I did not go to the doctor for 24 hours and got a cortisone shot and had a lot of swelling, itching, and burning. Six days later, got stung again and this time my hand swelled and burned, and I went to the doctor right away. I got a 6-day dose pack and was instructed to take the first day's dose all at once, then follow instructions for the remaining 5 days. About an hour after taking the medication, the itching and burning quit and by morning there was no swelling or pain. Now I have to keep an EpiPen with me."

"Methylprednisolone tablet dose pack saved my life. Last 3 months after a dog scratch, I have lived in severe pain. Sadly, all doctors refer you from one to the next, all my labs showing normal. Sadly, a rheumatologist doctor told me I have no inflammation but pain, which is not true. If he only listened to his patient, so God bless my awesome foot doctor who gave this to me for foot issues due to inflammation. Last night was the first night in the last 3 months I did not sleep in pain and burning in my knees. Have 4 more days of 6. Curious to see if it’s permanent or temporary. I was so touched for the pain to go away. There are so many doctors who don’t really care about people, have no compassion or care, but they are doctors. Find a doctor by asking neighbors, friends, and stay away from those who should not even treat a dog."

Methylprednisolone "To address knee pain, my doctor prescribed several rounds of physical therapy. The last physical therapist seemed to get to the root cause of the pain, and after showing significant improvement, I was discharged. Two weeks later, my knee was too swollen to move. I went to urgent care and was diagnosed with arthritis in my knee. The doc prescribed this dose pack, and after day 1, I thought it was a miracle drug. The pain was gone. The swelling was gone. However, by day two or three, I was bloated. By day five, hints of pain were returning. The day after my last dose, the knee pain fully returned. The relief was great but short-lived."

Methylprednisolone "Have taken Medrol Dose Pack three times in the last 5 years, each for different inflammatory conditions. Twice for severe arthritis in my neck, and once for an unexplained swelling of my foot and ankle. All three times, the drug was a miracle for me! Within the first three days, I felt 80% better and was fully healed after the final day. Was always able to return to normal activities. Zero side effects, for me at least. Highly recommended."

"I was prescribed Methylprednisolone for a sinus infection by a teledoc. It’s a doctor via a phone app that uses video chat to speak with you. I’ve always suffered from sinus infections, so I knew exactly what I had and told the doctor my symptoms. They gave me an antibiotic on top of Methylprednisolone. It’s only been my first day on the 21-pack, but I already feel a difference! While there’s no longer any sinus pain... I’m still running fevers, even higher than before, and I also have an extreme increase in urination. On top of that... this medicine is hard to swallow. Literally. It tastes very foul, so be sure to swallow it fast! But all in all, I think it’s worth it. My pain went away in just a day."

"I have just had a 5-day course of the tablets in conjunction with gabapentin 100 mg and have to say after the 3rd dose I was absolutely floored! Really took it out of me physically with extreme tiredness and general weakness. Think I would rather have done without them had I realized how I was going to feel."

"I am currently on this medicine for an inflamed sinus cavity, with 2 more days left. I have been experiencing horrible backaches to the point of wearing a heating pad on my back the past 3 days, the stomach cramps, constipation, fatigue, extreme thirst, UTI-like symptoms, and insomnia I've been experiencing! I didn't know this would happen, my pharmacist didn't really mention all of these side effects to me when I got this pill. Anyway, though, I have not been able to breathe out of one nostril, and the other was barely open too, which makes for a very difficult night of sleep. However, this pill has done wonders! Within the second day, I was able to breathe and lay on my one side, which is something I haven't been able to do in a long time!"

Methylprednisolone "My hair is falling out. It's so hard to lose weight. I feel mentally a little off, like constant irritation. I also feel a little lethargic. When I first got the shots, I felt jittery for days. I'm having blurry vision."

"I was in a car accident. After taking Tramadol, Flexeril, and Naproxen every day while going to the chiropractor for 7 weeks, I still had pain in my upper and lower back, right shoulder blade, right arm, and wrist every day. I had 3 MRIs in week 9, which revealed 5 bulging/herniated discs with pinched nerves in my neck and 2 in my lower back. I was prescribed a Medrol Dose Pack (4 mg, 21 pills x 6 days) and had 70% pain relief afterward. Side effects from the Medrol Dose Pack I had were nausea, slight headaches, and trouble breathing (I never took the meds on an empty stomach and have no health problems, 31 years old). Four days after completing the dose pack, a majority of my pain reappeared again every day. I have now been prescribed aquatic therapy and IDD (cervical/lumbar mechanical traction)."

"I tripped over my darn cat and fell hard on the floor. I've been in severe, almost uncontrollable pain for 3 weeks now for piriformis syndrome/sciatica. This is one extremely debilitating condition. Pain score on a level of 1 to 10 was a 15! My doctor prescribed this for me, and on day one, my pain level dropped to a 4!!! Started with the six pills on the first day. I'm not having any side effects at all! FINALLY SOME MAJOR RELIEF! I haven't slept in weeks because of the pain. Thank God for this medication!"

Methylprednisolone "I have severe COPD that was exacerbated by bronchiolitis, which landed me in the hospital. It has really helped reduce the inflammation in my lungs, and I can finally breathe again. I am on a pretty high IV dose, but they are treating me well. It certainly has side effects. My gut is all pooched out, and I gained seven pounds in a week. Major bloat going on. Heartburn, too. It makes me a little hyper, and my skin is sensitive. I have a back/shoulder ache, but that could be the hospital bed. I hope the side effects go away when I am off of it, but at least I can breathe again."

"Methylprednisolone caused me to go from a normal mental state to extreme panic. I took my pills up until day 5, and then I had to stop due to the side effects making me sicker. A week later, with anti-anxiety medications to counteract these effects, and I’m still not sleeping through the night. The risks for me certainly outweighed the benefits. Do NOT take if you have any form of anxiety disorder."
