For Amenorrhea "PCOS and irregular periods. I take Provera to start my period if it has been longer than 3 months (sometimes a little longer if I get too comfortable). I typically take one 10 mg pill daily for 7-10 days. If I take it for the full 10 days, I will start my period either a day after coming off the pill or within 3 days. If I take it for less than 10 days, it usually takes anywhere from 3-14 days to start my cycle. I recently passed a kidney stone (ouch), which interrupted my Provera schedule, so I was only able to make it to dose #4. Today is day 11 after taking the last pill, and I have started my cycle."

For Amenorrhea "I was on Depo Provera shot for 1.5 years before wanting to change to natural family planning. After getting off the shot, I had no period for 1 year. Doc prescribed Provera. I did not bleed. Three months later, I became pregnant. I miscarried around 5 weeks. It was a natural miscarriage. Waited two months, still no period. Went back to doc. Prescribed Provera 10 mg for 10 days (again), currently bleeding on day one after the last pill. I recommend this medicine. It does jump-start the cycle. And I believe that helped me ovulate during the first cycle even though I did not have a period with it. Never lose hope if you are trying to conceive or simply just bring back a regular cycle so that you can feel like a 'normal' woman."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I am 43, and the doctor says I am perimenopausal. My progesterone is not high enough. I did not have my period since November. My doctor prescribed me Provera. I have taken it for 5 days and started my period on the second day after taking the last pill. I started bleeding like a normal flow on Tuesday. I had minor cramping. Since Tuesday, cramping was getting worse and worse. And today, on Friday, I could not go to work as I am passing large blood clots. I have to change super pads every hour. I can't wait for this nightmare to stop. How long can this heavy part last? The last 24 hours were awfully heavy, losing too much blood. Should I go to the emergency room? Or should I wait? My doctor said to wait it out. But I am crying and feeling miserable."

For Amenorrhea "This is the best medication to induce periods. I did not menstruate for the last two and a half months because of some hormonal problems, so I went to see my gynecologist, and she prescribed me this medication (Provera 10mg) for 10 days. I got my period after 3 days of discontinuing the pills. I even missed one pill, still I got my period."

For Amenorrhea "I went without a period for 7 years and also had other fertility issues. If I didn't get prescribed this medication, I wouldn't have been able to conceive. I don't remember having side effects because I was so happy I got my cycle! The first time I took Provera, it took 2+ weeks to get my period. I thought it hadn't worked, but to my surprise, it had! So happy my OB-GYN prescribed me this."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Provera did not work for me. When I had my last period, before the operation to get fibroids removed, I had some really heavy period bleeding, I could not leave home. I had to go to A&E, where a GP prescribed Provera to me. The drug calmed the bleeding down for a few days, but it never stopped it. On some days, I would have really heavy bleeding with massive clots. During 2 weeks, I had to visit A&E a couple of times again, trying to explain that the drug was not working. I was assured again and again that since my operation was taking place in a couple of weeks, there was no point in changing the drug. In my third week of bleeding, it became extremely bad, it was pouring out non-stop for hours. I ended up in A&E again, where I collapsed at the reception and was admitted to the hospital. I was given an injection of Tranexamic acid that stopped the bleeding, and I was prescribed Norethisterone instead, which worked much better!"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "My whole life I've had horrible periods. After having 3 kids, my gyno finally discovered that my ovaries produce way too many eggs and my uterus has an extra thick lining. My tubes have been tied for 9 yrs. After having nightmare periods, my Dr prescribed me Provera. I've been on it for 2 months. The Dr said that as long as I take it, I won't have a period. Well, I started a wk ago on my period again. It's been nonstop, with absolutely no signs of quitting. I'm incredibly frustrated. The cramps and fatigue are more than I can handle."

For Amenorrhea "I was missing my period after taking the Plan B pill. So after waiting for 45 days for my period to come, the doctor prescribed me Provera 10 mg for 10 days. I took the pill for 9 days and somehow missed taking it on the 10th day. Three days after stopping my pill, I got my period. It was not very scary. Yes, I bled a little heavier on the third day, but it was manageable. I had aches in my thighs and my back. I would suggest buying panties with pads in them because it'll be easier to use and dispose of."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I have been on Provera 10 mg for about a month. I was initially diagnosed with uterine polyps and had a DNC done to remove the polyps, and my OBGYN prescribed Provera to stop the bleeding. It stopped for maybe 5 days but then started again and was way heavier with more clotting and cramping. My OBGYN, in turn, prescribed mefenamic acid in combination with the Provera, and it still hasn't stopped the bleeding. I've been bleeding heavily for almost 10 days now. I've started to see a slowing in the amount of blood, but it's not stopping altogether. It has been about 3 months of bleeding. Next step for me is a hysterectomy. I'm 34 years old and do not want to do that. I'm hoping this will work. It hasn't so far, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed."

For Amenorrhea "I took Provera about two years ago for 10 days and it worked great for me. I also had to take Clomid on days 5-9 of my cycle and got pregnant on my third cycle. They both worked amazingly. I am now going to try again hoping to have the same luck."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "53 yo, abnormal prolonged bleeding, clots, flooding. I had scans that showed thickened wall lining on the uterus, 14 mm plus fibroids. Prescribed 10 mg Provera, twice daily for 3 months. Next scan showed huge reduction down to 6 mm thickness and greatly reduced size of fibroids. A success on this side of things. Not so much for the bleeding. Will be patient."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I am 47 and this is my second time on Provera. The only side effects I have noticed are intense night sweats. I am hotter than usual. The day after my first dose, I was nauseous and had a headache like a hangover. It has happened a few other times during the 10 days. I do think that I can live with 10 days a month of Provera because I was bleeding a lot. I was stuck at home. At least now, even if I don't feel good, I can still leave home."

For Amenorrhea "I am 35 years old. No children, never been pregnant. I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2014. I started taking this drug to jumpstart my period as it had been almost 4 months without it. My doctor recommended I start birth control to try to regulate my period. I started this on April 15th. By April 22nd, I started to get pains on my upper right side, almost cramping like near my rib cage. It’s been a week with these on-and-off again pains. I finished the medication on the 24th and started bleeding Tuesday. The pain still comes and goes. I am a little nervous as to what this could be. Does anyone have this kind of experience with this drug?"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Thanks to everyone who shared. I’m 43, no history of menstrual irregularity. Missed a period in August, it arrived in early October, and I’ve bled since then. Very heavy with clots. To the point I struggle with working and can’t exercise. Pelvic ultrasound normal. Doc wants me to have a hysteroscopy. I’m terrified it’s something sinister. Reading all your stories has given me hope."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I'm a 31-year-old diagnosed with PCOS. I've been having irregular periods since the age of 15. They put me on birth control, which regulated them. Now, older, they are worried about my blood pressure and blood clots. The longest I've gone without a period is a year and a half. The last 3 months, I've had spotting every day. The doctor put me on Provera, 10 pills every 3 months. I got my period on the 4th day of taking the pills and am now dealing with debilitating cramps, heavy bleeding, and clotting bigger than quarter size. I bleed through a tampon and pad every hour. Had to leave work early today because I bled through my pants in a matter of 30 minutes. It's been like this for 3 days and is unbearable. When will it end?"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I am 23 years old and bled heavily for 7 weeks. Due to my religious beliefs, I will not accept blood under any and all circumstances, so I tried Provera in an attempt to stop the bleeding. On the 1st pill, I went from bleeding heavily to just brown spotting, and after 4 days, my bleeding completely stopped. I was on 10 mg for 10 days. I just completed my last pill today and feel better than ever! Just happy that I'm not bleeding anymore and I can be a mom to my 8-month-old daughter."

For Amenorrhea "I was prescribed Provera for 10 days at 6 PM every day. I have had no period since my early 20s, and then it was only on meds. I have a long history of hormonal problems and have been diagnosed with Amenorrhea, as many of you have. I have been in and out of IVF specialist clinics while they all tried to sell me theirs, and no one would actually help or give hope to conceive, but they were all quick to say that I had premature ovarian failure. However, I never gave up and found a doctor, a fertility specialist, and although I am overweight, have been found to have thyroid issues, and have a thin endometrium with high, I repeat high, levels of estrogen. I was prescribed this little pill, aka Provera. So ladies, do not lose hope, ask God, and trust!"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Worked just like the doctor said. I had been bleeding for 5 months without stopping. Took Provera for 2 weeks, and then started bleeding very heavily. Bled for almost 2 more weeks, and have now completely stopped bleeding. Just started taking Provera again for the 2nd month. It makes me a little sleepy and dizzy, but it is well worth it to get my bleeding regulated!"

For Amenorrhea "I've always had normal periods before and while on birth control pills. I was on the pill for about 8 years. After stopping birth control, I only had 2 periods. 4 months had gone by and my period was still absent, so I decided to make an appointment to visit my gynecologist. I did blood work and everything came back normal, so she decided to prescribe me Provera to take over 10 days. I was extremely nervous to take it because of the side effects I could possibly experience. I took the pill for 10 days and had no side effects at all. Typically, I'm an overthinker, so I began to wonder if it was even working for me. 2 days after stopping Provera, my period started, and it's normal. Reading reviews before taking Provera really helped me have an idea, so I hope my review helps the next woman who may be experiencing this!"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "At first, I went in to get treatment for uterine bleeding, which I’ve had for over 3 weeks. I was prescribed Provera 10 mg once a day for 10 days (which stopped the bleeding instantly). Soon after, during my 5th day of taking the pill, I started to cramp with slight bleeding. By the 3rd day into my “menstrual cycle,” I started to bleed heavily. Now, I’m on my 7th day, and there’s no sign of slowing down. The doctor told me it typically will last 2 weeks, and if I’m still bleeding heavily, I’ll need to see her. The doctor also said if I’m not changing no more than 2 pads per hour, it’s normal. I’m kinda irritated and scared."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Last September, I went to the OB-GYN for my heavy bleeding because I am tired of taking birth control and other meds. They prescribed me Provera in an attempt to prolong my 'dry time.' It seemed to work for about 2 months, and then suddenly I began having issues with even heavier bleeding, passing large clots, and shorter cycles (18-21 days). This continued until March of this year when I bled so heavily I had to be put in the hospital for an emergency D&C and had to have a blood transfusion (3 units). Now I continually have issues with hemorrhaging. The Provera made an already bad situation worse. Now it looks like I may have to pursue surgical options as a result. If you are wondering whether or not to take Provera, DON'T!!"

For Amenorrhea "I hadn't had a period in 3 months. My doctor prescribed me Provera 10 mg once a day for 10 days. She stated if I get my period in those 10 days to stop taking the pill at that time. Today was day 7, and my period came. I had no side effects from this medication. I had normal cramps at the onset of my period this morning. It seems to be a normal beginning flow as with any other time I had my period. I will report back to let everyone know how long it lasted."

For Amenorrhea "During the ten days on Provera, I was emotional, my boobs hurt severely, my face broke out like crazy, and I had horrible fatigue. Two days after the 10 days of taking Provera, I have the worst period I have ever had in my entire life. Having to change my pad/tampon every single hour was disgusting, I couldn't even enjoy a shower because even afterward I still bled nonstop. Each day that passes, the heavier my period gets. Today is my 6th day, and 4, 5, & 6 were heavy as hell, but 5 & 6 had excruciating cramps. And too many blood clots! :( I do not recommend this pill at all."

For Amenorrhea "I've never had a period. I'm 32 years old. My husband and I want to try to conceive a baby naturally. The doctor put me on Provera to kick start my ovaries because they are half the size of a normal size ovary for my age. It has been 5 days, two 10 mg pills a day. So far, nothing. I'm starting on another 5 days today. So far, 2 bad dreams and one panic attack. Nipples sore and cramping below navel, but nothing serious."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I am a 51-year-old female. In January 2008, I had a light period that lasted for 4 days and then stopped. Five days later, I started bleeding again. I had such a heavy flow with clotting that I had to change every 2 hours. After the 14th day, I began to get very weak. My mother convinced me that this was not normal and to see a gynecologist. On day 16 of this heavy bleeding, I went to the gynecologist. She told me I was going through menopause and prescribed Provera. On the next day, I was to take 20mg for 10 days. After 2 days, I stopped bleeding. On day 12, my doctor told me I needed to do this for the next 3 months and each month would get better, and it would help me through menopause. I do not feel good at all when I take the Provera."
