"First, it has been 6 days and already my bipolar depression is lifting. I cleaned today and showered and made food. Crazy if you saw before. I do have a slight headache still. I will say the first night was AWFUL. I have never been so hot in my life. Just my hands and legs. The rest of me was freezing. I was shivering and sweating for almost 20 hours with red and swollen feet I couldn't walk on. I had one of the worst headaches I have ever had, a severely stuffy nose and was exhausted having not slept but maybe an hour that night. I had to call out of work. I decided to try it one more night on the off chance that I was coincidentally sick the night before. I still got a little hot in my feet but nothing like before. Now 6 days in all the side effects are gone with the exception of a mild headache. It's getting better every day though. I am already laughing and smiling, today was my first day of motivation and I'm getting the desire to journal & paint again"

"I was put on Caplyta after Invega Sustenna made me gain around 60 lbs. The first two weeks Caplyta made me so sedated I had to start taking it at night, but after I switched to that it worked well. On Caplyta was finally able to start losing weight and I would say it’s weight neutral. Unfortunately,I think I will have to stop taking it because I am having problems controlling my bladder. It isn’t a lot, but enough to notice. At first this symptom went away after a month and a half but it has come back and I don’t feel like being 29 and incontinent is worth it, so I will be looking for something else."

"I first took Caplyta last night. Within 30 mins my skin was on fire! No hives, but like someone else said Icyhot. Then I projectile vomited all over my bathroom. nausea, diarrhea, terrible headache, and body aches. I was chilled to my bones and then hot flashes. Fever of 102.1 that didn’t go away with Ibuprofen. Then at 5am I started seeing aliens from the corner of my eyes. I took Benadryl and slept with my light on. I had to call into work and the kids missed school because there was no way I could drive. My body does NOT like this stuff. One and done forever!"

"I’ve been on Caplyta for just about 2 1/2-3 weeks. The first couple of days I felt unbelievably drugged up. I couldn’t walk without losing my balance. The first 3-4 days, I had an insane migraine. My appetite disappeared, and has yet to come back. I’m more shaky than I have ever been. It might just be the anxiety, though. My anxiety is not diminished at all on this medication. I’ve been diagnosed with Bipolar 2, and I’m starting to believe that this medication is boosting my irritability; I’ve been agitated easier and more intensely. The first week, I felt more productive, but now, I feel like I’ve always felt. My emotions are intense, my thoughts are loud, and my insomnia is worse. This medication may work for you; be mindful that you will most definitely not see improvement within the first weeks. I’m hoping to see changes, however, I’m doubtful."

"I've been taking Caplyta for almost 1 1/2 years. The first day I had a headache, but I read reviews first so I was prepared for it. It went away, the darkness and the negative thoughts started to disappear within a week! I feel Abilify contributed to the darkness, honestly. I will also say I had issues with my bladder as well (more than a few accidents), but I will say to those of you with similar side effects, the bladder control got better after a while so that's not an issue anymore. I take it at night and I do feel like I sleep better at night (especially in comparison to when I forget to take it). No allergic reactions like burning and freezing, so I'm very fortunate. I initially lost about 6 pounds on it, but I have continued to gain again. I'm only taking Caplyta."

"I got this medication this week. The first night I took it and an hour later I had a huge headache and when I got up the whole room spun so badly I had to hold onto my bed. The next morning I was getting up for school and nobody could wake me up for a long time even shaking me. I eventually woke up and was exhausted even tho I had slept 9 hours. I couldn’t even stay awake while on my Adderall prescription and fell asleep doing my makeup on the floor. Then all day people were telling me I looked like I was on something and I seemed drugged up and I really felt like I was. I also had a major migraine and extreme dizziness, and the exhaustion stayed the whole day. The third and second day was pretty much the same as the first two but it just seemed to be getting worse. Supposed to take my fourth dose tonight but I’m not. Worst med I have ever taken"

"I've been on what seems like every available drug for depression or bipolar, and none helped. Either they didn't touch my depression, or the side effects were unmanageable. I've been on social security disability for 12 years due to persistent depression from bipolar disorder. I was about to give up or try ECT when, as a last-ditch effort, I agreed to try Caplyta. It's the only thing that's worked for me. It's given me some semblance of a normal life back. I was really sick with side effects for the first day taking it, but then they went away and I don't have any real side effects at all. The drug doesn't make me sleepy, but if I miss a dose for some reason, I can't sleep at all without it. I will be awake literally all night long, which is dangerous for me as that can be enough to send me into hypomania. As long as I take the medicine as directed though, it's great."

"I've had an overall pleasant experience with Caplyta 42mg. I took my first dose on a Friday night and quickly became very drowsy and went to bed early. I woke up the next morning with a horrible headache but it stopped after a few days. I've been on Caplyta for 5 weeks now and it still makes me slightly drowsy which is fine. It helps me sleep, my depression has greatly lifted, and I'm able to get more things done instead of being in a cycle of being too overwhelmed to get anything done. Much to my husband's satisfaction my libido seems to be coming back a bit after a 2-year dry spell. If you can push through a rough headache for a few days I think it's worth it. It does give me a dry mouth but after getting some water and brushing my teeth in the morning it subsides."

"This medication gave me hope. It is the ONLY antipsychiotic I have been able to lose weight while taking. Previously, I have never even been able to maintain my weight while an antipsychotic. I have also tried Seroquel, Abilify, Latuda, and Zyprexa. I was the first patient my doctor put on this medication. And I'm still here. I would recommend for mood improvement and maintenance. My only negative feedback is that I do notice my thoughts tend to become more of the "racing" type when it gets close to time to dose again. No suicidal/homicidal thoughts or ideations. I simply have trouble organizing my "to do list" in my head."

"Like many of you, I have tried a multitude of medications to treat my BPD2, ADHD, and GAD. I take Wellbutrin and Vyvanse, but I have had horrific experiences with pretty much every antipsychotic I have tried, particularly associated with the side effect profile. With concern to Caplyta, I feel, for lack of better words, “centered.” There is a semblance of calm and quelled anxiety that is difficult to replicate. In addition, the ability to differentiate between emotions and take constructive criticism has been an invaluable asset. With concern to weight gain, while it may vary for many people, I have lost weight and have a decreased appetite. Overall, if you are struggling, I would highly recommend trying this medication."

"This medication turned my whole life around. I thought I was just gonna be severely depressed almost 24/7 for the rest of my life. Caplyta also made my mania w/psychotic features a little less intense. Everything I hear on a daily basis can be tuned out and it no longer makes it hard for me to communicate or listen to others and pay attention to my environment. Caplyta is the best thing that ever happened to me and I went out of my way to search for a place where I could leave a review because I really need the team of people who helped create this medicine to know that they are going to save so many lives with their creation. I have literally tried every other antipsychotic and this is the only thing that works. I also don't need a mood stabilizer anymore. I'm bipolar and I don't need a mood stabilizer with Caplyta. That is huge. Haven't had any success with actual mood stabilizers. It came as a huge surprise when I realized I was stable enough to quit taking mood stabilizers."

"This medication has saved me!!! I have suffered so long with horrible mood swings, mania, and depression. I have tried lots of things, but I went to a new psychiatrist and she started me on Vraylar, which gave me terrible anxiety and wouldn’t stop, then she switched me to this. I read lots of bad reviews about it, but I took it anyway because I know everyone’s different. I take this, along with Wellbutrin & Vyvanse, and honestly, it’s great because I can sleep at night, everyone tells me how much happier and alert I seem. I’m actually motivated now! I think it’s a combo of all 3 meds but I know this one definitely made a world of difference for me! I say ignore these bad reviews and give it a try, my husband said this med saved my life!!"

"I love this drug. I have been on it for 2 months now and I can tell such a change. I have severe bipolar 2 depression and have tried a variety of meds. After just accepting the fact that I will just get through life and not enjoy it, my psychiatrist suggested Caplyta. The first 3 days are awful!!! Chills, dry mouth, headache, sleepiness, nausea. I honestly thought I wasn't going to continue, but I did and I am so happy. Make sure you take the med at night because it does make you drowsy. I only hope I can continue to afford it. Once the coupon is over, I don't think I will be able to keep at it. So I do fear that, but will deal with it when it happens. We all deserve to be happy."

"The first time I tried this med, the side effects after just one pill were unbearable. BUT, I contacted my doctor and asked him to switch me to another antipsychotic that I could titrate up. He then wrote a script for Caplyta again but at a dose of 10.5. They’ve recently released lower doses (10.5 and 21mg). I think they did this because a lot of people were reporting terrible side effects when starting at 42mg. I believe they did this because of all the negative reviews from starting right at 42mg. So starting at the 10.5, I still had side effects for a week or so. The headaches hung on the longest. I’ve been on it about two weeks now and the side effects have completely subsided. I’m starting to feel better. My mood is lifting, I’m more productive and I’m even getting my libido back! I’m so glad I tried again."

"I have been on Caplyta for probably about 8 months. I take 21.5 mg along with Seroquel 200mg. I have Bipolar I and lean more depressive. I can 100% say that this medication has stopped my suicidal ideation and thoughts. This is the only medication (except Abilify) that I would say has genuinely improved my outlook on life. Some days I still get random bouts of depression, but I'm able to take a step back and realign my feelings (crazy concept, I know). After taking multiple different medications over the past four years, I can confidently say this has been one of my most effective medications."

"I take my Caplyta 21mg at night for my Bipolar 2 (20f). The first day, I was miserable. I was very dizzy, MASSIVE migraine, lightheadedness, and cotton mouth. I slept for hours to try to brush off the headache. It became bearable around 8 am. *** When you first take this, make sure that you have no plans. HERE'S THE THING: I have tried everything and I'm still dealing with the depression in my bipolar 2. I was so unmotivated and miserable since I was 14 that I felt unfixable and didn't do anything except rot in my bed. If you feel like this, try to go through the first three days, take it before bed, and request a lower dose (10/21mg). The first day is miserable, but it lessens fast. My anxiety was bad because I was scared to take it after the first night, but it was the best thing I've done for myself. Although, if you feel burning/cold, and physically numb, and the side effects do not go away, you might be allergic or reacting poorly to the medication. Speak to your provider."

"I have been on Caplyta 42 mg for about 3 to 4 months. At first the only side effect I had was when I woke up in the morning, I took it at night, I would feel extremely tired but couldn't nap. It did work for my hallucinations at first, but I always build a resistance to all of the anti-psychotics that I've taken. So my hallucinations are back, but now are worse than before. I also noticed that I talk way more than I have in the past. I usually don't talk much. I'm gonna rate it higher than low because it does work, I just am resistant to treatment."

"I started Caplyta about 3 months ago. My regular medicines weren’t working too well and I was finding myself constantly in tears and feeling unworthy. I had many manic episodes and caused my family a lot of pain by my constant need to shop and my mood changes. I spoke to the Dr about how I was suffering. After having been on dozens of medications for over two decades, my Dr told me about Caplyta. I figured why not give it a go considering my current mood and condition wasn’t being helped. After about 6 weeks on the 42mg starting and therapeutic dose, I started to feel good. I wasn’t perfect but I noticed I was smiling more and crying less and my shopping had let up. 8 weeks and since, I’m almost back to my teenage self pre diagnosis. I’m almost never sad anymore. I’m not dwelling on things. I can think straight. I’m not unnecessarily shopping anymore and my relationship with my husband and kids are finally good. I have not noticed any side effects except for being drowsy."

"I have been on Caplyta for over a month now. I've been in such a better mood and lost 15 lbs. But I have been experiencing side effects: dizziness, lightheadedness, feeling of heaviness in my chest, headaches, and feeling like I'll pass out. I thought it was Caplyta, but I'm also taking Depakote 1000mg. I got my Depakote levels checked, and they were very low (I haven't missed a dose of it). So that explains all of my side effects. I Googled if Caplyta interacts with Depakote, and from what I've seen, no, but it does. I'm currently tapering off Depakote, and each day I'm feeling better. I'm in better moods, not dwelling on the past, or having vivid visions of awful things happening. So I can't wait to feel the full effects of Caplyta once the Depakote is out of my system. I do recommend this medicine!"

"I have been on Caplyta for 3 months now, and I have nothing but great things to say. My mood, attitude, and emotional outbursts are about 95 percent better. Also, my sleep is great!!! So glad to have been prescribed this medication. I have been on around 15 different medications, and they would do ehhh, but this is the best ever!"

"When I first started taking Caplyta, it was good. No side effects or anything. My head wasn't racing, and my mind was clear. I was a happy girl. However, the longer I've been taking it, I've seen hives and I've been lightheaded a lot more. A lot of the side effects were coming into play. But the overall experience with Caplyta is awesome. It makes my moods much nicer, and my thoughts are happier. Life is a lot better with Caplyta, because without Caplyta, I would probably be divorced now. My friends and family wouldn't be around me if I was off this medicine. Even my boss says so."

"Caplyta is one of many antipsychotics I have tried, but it's the only one that makes me feel like a normal person. I have been taking Caplyta for about 1.5 years, and it has been wonderful. I really don't remember any major side effects when I first started taking it, but I'm absolutely miserable if I miss a dose. I feel on edge/unstable, and I am literally unable to sleep. I'm currently feeling those effects because my pharmacy screwed up, and I had to go without it until they received the medication to fill my prescription. But I love Caplyta! If your insurance won't cover it, the manufacturer has a discount card!"

"I have been taking Caplyta since April. I take it with zoloft. I used to take Latuda before I switched to Caplyta bc I kept gaining a lot of weight. On Latuda I was always hungry. Now on Caplyta I almost never feel the need to eat. But I've noticed when I don't eat for several hours I'm insanely irritable and I get manic. That's when I realize that I am not only hungry, but starving. I just can't really tell when I'm hungry anymore. I just woke up out of a really deep sleep. I was almost paralyzed with exhaustion even tho I got enough hours of sleep and I was shaking all over snd my head is moving 100 miles a minute bc I haven't eaten in over 12 hours. Is this normal?"

"Caplyta is an amazing medication for me! I have largely treatment resistant Bipolar II depression for 25 years. Caplyta is the BEST antipsychotic used for bipolar disorder that I have ever been prescribed. Only one side effect (stomach upset and diarrhea) the first 3-4 days. I noticed a difference in myself after about 10 days of taking Caplyta. Negative obsessive thoughts, bleak outlook, listlessness and motivation/energy were the symptoms helped the most. I am living a fuller life filled with hope and motivation. Again, amazing med!"

"Its been about 2 weeks since I started taking Caplyta and so far I've only noticed the side effects and not so much of any drastic change in depression. Maybe a little more clear-headed and calm but It still needs more time to work. The side effects I've noticed seem weird and uncommon compared to other reviews. It definitely puts me to sleep, so I take it at night. I've noticed the palms of my hands are super red, but I'm not hot at all. Also, my acid reflux came back, frequent urination, the occasional headache, and my hair is shedding a lot/falling out :/ (assuming it's the medication). On the bright side, I'm losing a lot of weight, have no changes in libido, (thank God), and have no feelings of suicide, which most other meds cause for me. Going to keep taking it as I hear the side effects should be going away soon. * Will be taking vitamins for my hair though"
