For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Took 1 Belviq pill yesterday at 7:30 a.m. Side effects were mild. Slight headache. A little dizziness but mild. Woke up this morning dizzy, nauseous (took a dose of Pepto-Bismol, which was no help), headache. Feel like I need to eat to stop stomach from feeling queasy. It is now 12:15 p.m., and these symptoms haven't subsided. Also had slight itching on back and arms but no rash. I can hardly walk a straight line. Feel miserable. When my doctor mentioned this medication, she said it worked from the inner ear. I am prone to motion sickness and am wondering if anyone else having these side effects gets motion sick as well. Is it possible these are people who cannot take this medicine? Motion sickness is triggered from the inner ear. Maybe that should have been a red flag for me. Or maybe that has nothing to do with it, just not understanding what she meant by the inner ear thing. Not going to take any more."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I took it for a week. The first 2 days brought a headache, and then that resolved. I was also a bit nauseous those 2 days. I did notice that I had almost no appetite right away, so apparently it is effective for satiation. I had to stop taking it, though, because of the following: Cough started immediately and resolved the day after I stopped taking it. Dizziness and difficulty with balance. Deep sleep and trouble getting going in the morning, when the dizziness was worse. Sneezing and sore throat. Now, this may sound like maybe I just had a cold, but I didn't. I am a nurse, and I know the difference. Some difficulty with memory and concentration. Dry mouth, but that is no big deal. Another deterrent for me is that I can't take my migraine medication with it."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I've been on Belviq for 6 weeks now. I wanted so much for this to work, so I endured the dizziness, extreme fatigue, foggy brain, memory problems, and even an increase in my irregular heartbeat, hoping they would decrease and the Belviq would work. They did not, and I've experienced no improvement in appetite control. The worst part is I've been treated for clinical depression and had to go off the meds that had been helping me in order to take Belviq. The antidepressant effects of Belviq never kicked in for me, and I've been miserable. I'm glad it helps some people, but I wanted to write this review for people who are being treated for depression before trying the Belviq. Proceed cautiously. It may not be for you."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Beware. Started this drug 6 days ago along with diet and exercise. I lost 8 lbs in 5 days. My side effects were severe cough, dizziness, headache, fatigue, and flu-like symptoms. On day 5, I didn't like how I was feeling. I decided to stop taking it. I didn't think it was worth waiting for those effects to go away, even if they did. My cough subsided quite a bit in such a short time. Today, day 6, the start of my second day without the pill, I awoke this morning, sat on the bed, and started to cough. I started to gasp for breath, and there was no air. Several minutes later, I was wondering why my eyebrow and cheek, along with my body, hurt. I opened my eyes and realized I blacked out and was lying face down on the wood floor. Run."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I've been on it for 10 days and have gained 5 pounds. I feel that my appetite has decreased, but I've experienced dizziness and fatigue. I'm disappointed, as I really want this to work. I'm happy, though, for all those who have been successful!"

"I am taking 10 mg twice a day and have been for three weeks. I have lost 3 lbs. My muscles are sore, and I have had headaches and a little dizziness. I am 55 and have been on an extremely strict diet for the past 6 months, unable to lose a pound. So, while I am not sure about doing another month, I am glad to have lost the three pounds. I am not sure the risks outweigh the benefits. There is no warning for sun exposure for this medication, and I feel there should be. I have a darker complexion and do not usually burn in the sun. I recently spent a week in Mexico. The first day, I got so sunburned that I had to sit in the shade for the remainder of our vacation. It turned into a terrible skin poisoning. After 8 days, I am still sunburned."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Started taking Belviq 10 mg a week ago. Number 1. None of the coupons I printed out gave me any cost reduction, and my health insurance would not pay any cost, so I'm out of pocket $280.00. Number 2. I'm 70 years young, weighed 196 lbs at 5'4'', obese. Number 3. Had terrible side effects the past week: headache, fever, body aches and pain, especially in my feet and hands, have developed a nagging cough and dizziness. It's been one week today, my feet are killing me, and I feel a bit feverish. Now I can at least get out of the house. Number 4. I weigh 192 lbs today. Number 5. So I will continue this journey one more week, if it continues with the side effects, I'll have to quit. Also, I'm very active, I take an accounting class twice a week, lift weights twice a week, walk 5 miles twice a week, and swim once a week."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I've been on Belviq for five days. The first day was hard. I was dizzy, hot, and had a headache all day. But I've been good since then, with only slight dizziness. Yesterday, I started taking 2 pills, and I haven't noticed any difference. I still feel hungry all the time. Will it work better if I take it on an empty stomach? I don't think it's worth it so far."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have gained weight after a total hysterectomy. I could no longer exercise the way I used to before the surgery. I tend to overeat because I LOVE food and actually am always hungry. I am 5'5" and am 205 lb. I took Belviq XR 20 mg for 5 days only. I HAVE NEVER been so tired in my life!! I was uncoordinated, slept like a rock (probably only benefit), and still needed to nap during the day, which is not compatible with staying employed. Also, I had really bad brain fog, urinary incontinence (who would've thought this?!!), and absolutely no motivation to get up, let alone exercise. The biggest kicker is that I WAS SOOOOO HUNGRY!! I had huge cravings for sweets, chips, and ice cream-things I don't love on the regular! Like all the time. I had paid $107 for it with the use of a coupon, and I am just going to swallow that. I so wished it had worked, but I like being employed and being alert and oriented during the daytime."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "This is my first day taking Belviq. I have noticed dizziness, and I have been extremely thirsty, drinking a lot of water. I will give it 15 days to see what happens. Before starting Belviq, I did the green smoothie diet for 10 days and lost 13 pounds. I need to lose about 10-15 more pounds to be at my right weight. I was obese, but now I am overweight according to the medical chart. We will continue taking it and see what the outcome is."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I was kind of scared to use Belviq because of all the other reviews, but I took the Belviq for two weeks, did not feel anything. I felt a little dizzy and had dry mouth, but other than that, I did not have any other side effects. Did not lose any weight, did not curb my appetite at all. I paid a lot of money, and it did not do me any justice."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Used a 'card' that is available on the Belviq site, brought it down from over $300 to $98.00. Have been taking it for 10 days - the only thing different I feel is being extremely tired and dizziness. If I don't feel anything soon about 'feeling full' or cravings, I'm going to stop taking it. It's not worth the fatigue!"

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have only been on Belviq for 1 week. I'm not sure if I have lost any weight yet. I am experiencing many side effects: bad headache, slightly dizzy, very tired (napping almost daily), and stomach issues (heartburn and diarrhea). I'm giving it 6 weeks, and then I will decide what to do. I'm hoping the side effects go away within another week."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Started the Belviq with optimism. Quickly realized this is not for me. Already depressed after father's death a month ago, causing me to eat and gain 10 lbs in that month. The first dose made me lethargic, dizzy, unable to function my daily routine. I took 2 more days to give it a chance. I broke out in a rash during that time that looked like shingles. I was also very nauseated and was awoken with an agonizing headache. I flushed them. Money wasted."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started Belviq last night. I was told to take one 20 mg pill before bed. The reason is because my doctor said one of the side effects is being tired. Well, I barely slept 6 hours. I had opposite effects. However, I felt slightly dizzy, achy (even my hands hurt), and had cold-like symptoms. I don't know if the sneezing and coughing are a coincidence or a side effect. I have read it is, but I only had the one pill. We went to dinner tonight. After I ate, I got sick to my stomach and needed to lay down. I'm having the hardest time losing weight. I have been on a lot of different supplements. I'm not sure this is worth it."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started Belviq after first losing a significant amount on Weight Watchers, so progress was sort of slow for me. I lost about a half a pound a week for the three months I was on it, but my motivation level was low. The problem for me came when I tried to stop taking it. I had the symptoms of antidepressant discontinuation syndrome pretty bad. These included lightheadedness, dizziness, tingly hands and feet, and blurry vision. This all scared me very much - I thought I was going to have a stroke. I even had what felt like an electric shock shoot through different parts of my body a few times. I was really relieved to find out that this is a fairly common condition and only lasts 2-3 weeks, but it was pretty uncomfortable."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I am 5 ft 5 in & 158. I fight hypothyroidism & Hashimoto's & have also gone through 5 years of fertility medicines. My usual weight is 138. My doctor & I didn’t care to get me down to that weight - we were hoping for high 140s, something a bit safer due to being pre-diabetic & high cholesterol. With menopause knocking on my door, weight loss is near impossible (I even work with a trainer 3 times a week!). Anyway, this medicine was BRUTAL for me. I had the same experience as someone above: slept like a rock (I usually wake up at 6 am, but couldn’t get up until 8:30 am), started craving & eating JUNK that I’d never eat before, chills, fatigue, some nausea & my breasts weren’t swollen but they were incredibly sore to the point where I couldn't sleep on my belly. I was SO ineffective & lazy (which isn't me), I stopped the medication because I had also GAINED 4 pounds in 1.5 weeks. (I only took it for 9 days!). The withdrawal after only 9 days has me with horrific vertigo. Ugh. AWFUL. So glad I’m off it."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started Belviq July 6, 2018. I've been taking it exactly one week. I've experienced headaches and dizziness. I normally eat around 10:30 in the morning. I eat lunch and sometimes drink a protein shake or half of one. I am extremely tired. I weigh 232. I am trying to lose 20 or 30 lbs. After my hysterectomy, I haven't been able to lose weight. I am praying this works. I started 4/19/18 walking 3 miles for 6 days, no results, a few inches... I'll keep you posted. I don't feel like walking because of fatigue, but I still do water aerobics 4 to 5 days a week."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "The first few days, I had crushing migraines and dizziness. I began getting headaches around week 6 again, but didn't associate it with the meds because 5 weeks passed with no side effects. Then my left eye began to droop and blur my vision. I thought it was due to Botox. The eye drooped to almost closed, then my cheek fell, and a few days later, I had trouble speaking. Rushed to the ER and got an MRI, CT, etc., to rule out a stroke. ZERO findings. They said Botox was the cause. My symptoms have come and gone, which would not be a Botox reaction. Today, my vision is blurred to the point that I can't drive, and my eye is barely open. I just figured out that the eye opens when I miss a dose! NOT WORTH IT. My hospital bill is going to be HUGE."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I gave the medication some points because once I started taking it I immediately experienced a decrease in appetite. I took 10 mg in the morning and 10 mg at night. The first side effect was dry mouth and the second was a crushing headache. I read this site and decided to work through it. On day 3 I developed a huge rash on my inner thigh and then on my shoulders. I had strange nightmares and felt out of sorts. I then had irritability and snapped at my husband and young son on several occasions after day 5. On day six I stood up and felt dizzy and weird. I developed anxiety and felt upset. By day 8 my husband and I talked and looked up the contents of the medicine. Serotonin stood out to me. I stopped taking it. Run."
