"I've been on Linzess, the low dose, for about a month now. I had diarrhea the first day every couple of hours but I had no bloating, gas or that horrible stabbing pain. Over the first week hurdle I noticed that the more water I drank at the time I took my medicine the more the likelihood of diarrhea was. So I wake early in the morning, take it, and go back to sleep and this way I've been able to tell when I will go which is usually 30 minutes after I eat. This medicine has been life changing I feel almost normal, have energy again and most of all I don't have that dooming hopelessness. I go about three times a day and like real going. Although some days I experience a little pain at night but nothing compared to restless nights."

"I have been taking this medication for 8 months now and I have to say that even though it gives me diarrhea and I'm stuck to the bathroom for a little bit of time in the morning, it's much better than dealing with the absolute intense pain and constipation I have had for 20 years. I think Linzess has this interesting side effect that is difficult to deal with sometimes but for me it is well worth it thank God for linzess."

"I have been taking Linzess for Irritable Bowel Syndrome with Constipation for about 9 months. It has been very helpful. I take one 290 mg tablet every day a half hour before dinner and have a comfortable bowel movement first thing the following morning. I have never been this regular before. It is such a relief to know that I will not spend the day with cramps, bloating and gas. The only issue is that my stomach is very noisy and bubbly during the night but I find that oddly comforting because it means the Linzess is working!"

"Medicine is absolutely horrible. Had gall bladder removed in 2019. Stomach has been extremely bloated to point of not being able to wear my normal clothes! Embarrassing walking around having a stomach so bloated. Use to take Zelnorm for my IBS-C till it was taken off the market. Zelnorm was way better than this medicine. Linzess needs taken off the market. Bowel movements are pure liquid coming out. Can’t make plans to go anywhere. Always feel so weak. Back pain is unreal. Stomach just gargles. Zelnorm helped reduce the bloating, Linzess adds to it. Plus Linzess drains the pocket. Zelnorm 90 day mail in use to be way less than Linzess at 80.00 co-pay per month. Praying they bring back Zelnorm!!"

"After recently being diagnosed with IBS-Constipation my doctor gave me samples of this medication and had me stop taking Miralax, which I had been taking twice a day. They stressed that one pill is to be taken first thing in the morning and to wait at least an hour before consuming any food. I have followed these directions and I have not had any discomfort or diarrhea. I have been having at least one bowel movement a day, sometimes two, and I have lost 5lbs since I started, about two weeks. Side effects I have felt are some gurgling in my stomach between bowel movements and some clogging in my ears. No bloating and no uncontrolled movements."

"I have IBS with constipation. My GI started me on Amitiza, which worked great for 3 or 4 months, then I started having constipation again, but without the extreme cramps. He gave me Linzess 145, which also worked great for a couple months, then not so much. I had a colonoscopy and upper GI, which all came back normal except for an irritated stomach. I've been on Linzess 290 now for several months, and it still works, but the way it works affects my daily plans. It may just work too good. I have very watery movements about 3 times every morning, and because of this I can't leave the house before noon. I haven't had a solid stool for months. Good thing I'm a stay at home mom! Taking this every other day might make things better."

"I've had severe chronic constipation with Irritable Bowel Syndrome for about 20 years. When the IBS flares up, triggered by the constipation, it's debilitating for about two days. Fiber, laxatives, gallons of water never helped. I just learned about Linzess from my doctor this week after the IBS had me right down in bed near a toilet. I have been on it for about 4 days now and I feel a bit of churning in my belly but I'm still straining to have a bowel movement and my stool is still hard. I'm hoping that will change with a few more doses! Based on the reviews people respond differently to this medicine. My insurance covers the medicine but I'm in a high deductible plan, so I had to pay out of pocket...ouch...very expensive."

"Senior, bowel inconsistencies started a year ago. Nothing helped until Linzess 72. I take it at 4 AM, and between 2 to 3 hours later, I have the first movement followed by 3 to 4 other movements. It kind of knocks me out for the rest of the day. Lots of gas. I don't take it every day; it's a trade-off between constipation or upset."

"I have been suffering on and off for the last 7 years with IBS... Drs., Hospitals, ultra sounds, copious quantities of ANY laxative, stool softeners, etc. once my upper intestines are backed up under my rib cage NOTHING works and I start packing on the lbs. then I tried Linzess. It adds moisture to the upper intestine which when I took it monday I was 175, I went to the bathroom about 6 ish times after about 5 hrs. by tuesday I was down to 165 completely cleaned out! I also took full responsibility not to eat ANYTHING that would irritate my tummy. I took linzess the next 3 days but nothing happened. I believe it is for the upper intestine area and because mine is 100% better I dont need it. Thank goodness I now have a weapon against IBS"

"I have been taking Linzess for the past 2 months. I love it!! I do not suffer from IBS or constipation anymore. I take as directed and works perfectly. I must note that I have to take hydrochlorothiazide for high blood pressure. The Linzess did not work when I took the diuretic. I drank and drank water and all it did was make me pee. I have noticed less bloating and water retension since I took the Linzess. I try not to take the diuretic unless I need it. The Linzess has given me a better quality of life!! Love it!!!"

"Well well...let's just say if you have IBS like me and you go days of using the bathroom constantly then several days of not using it at all with constant bloating after meals for hour...then this is the stuff you need. I have been on this for 5 months and my life has changed drastically! I no longer complain of bloat because this will clear you out. It is almost like anything I put in my mouth automatically triggers my gut to gotta go to the potty. Sometimes 5 or 6 times a day, sometimes once or twice. And it is not solid, but I'll take what I can get. Thank you creators of Linzess. But warning...If you don't have strong muscles this might not be the best drug for you. And if you can't run...u will need depends."

"This is a miracle pill. I take 290 mcg everyday. I have suffered with Irritable Bowel Syndrome-Constipation for years. It was making my life miserable. I had terrible attacks at least once a month. This medicine cleans me completely out. Cost is an obstacle for many. I'm on the patient assistance program, they send me my medicine at 0 cost to me. I love Linzess."

"I have IBS and my dr prescribed this as a miracle drug. Do not use this medication. I ended up in the ER . Diarrhea, blood pouring out and because of the drug developed colitis. It’s been 4 months since I stopped and still having abdominal pain and going for a colonoscopy. Before I began the Linzess I had a routine colonoscopy and everything was fine. Now I have gone through test after test and the same dr is ordering these tests. It was the Linzess and I pray the colonoscopy doesn’t show any inflammation which was the case after taking Linzess. I haven’t felt like myself since my hospital stay."

"I have a torturoed colon and IBS and nothing worked for me. Been on Linzess for close to a year now and it makes me like a normal person! It's a miracle drug. I have zero side effects and non of that sick stomach I used to always have either from laxatives or from needing to go. I feel like I have a new lease on life. I just hope it continues to work for me. The only downside is the cost. I have great insurance (federal BC/BS) and I still pay roughly $2 a day to be able to have regular, pain free, BMs. Totally worth it to me!"

"I can't believe my insurance agreed to cover this! It's $10 per pill otherwise. The 145mcg is a high enough dosage. 290mcg and your system will go nuts. This medicine works great and usually within 12 hours. Take it at the night, not in the morning like the instructions say. Make sure you have the day off. Best way to take it, have a light dinner, wait one hour, have dessert. In one hour you will have bloating, cramps and gas. The cramps and bloating are normal. It means your system is moving. By the next morning (maybe sooner) the bowel movements will start. DO NOT TAKE THIS EVERYDAY! Your body will build an immunity if you do. Keep hydrated as you will lose quite a bit of water."

"How come the makers of this drug don't mention the weight gain associated with taking it? It works well for about a week and then the bloating and weight gain sets in. More than very disappointing and shame on them!"

"After suffering most of my life from all the issues related to Irritable Bowel Syndrome, gas, diarrhea, chronic constipation, I have finally found I have a normal life with little or no gas, no more constipation, and rare loose stools. But for anyone who has ever suffered from constipation, having loose stools is a welcome trade off. Thank you Linzess."

"If you're taking samples currently, please read this. I have to love and hate this medicine. Pros It does what it says it does. It makes you go! It doesn't give you full on diarrhea if you take it every few days. Just soft stools which is a great thing! Cons You cannot take this medication everyday no matter what the doctor tells you. Maybe it's my body or something but I can promise you, your body will soon reject the medication if taken everyday for more than 5 days. If continued in such a fashion, you will bloat, cramp and become MORE constipated than before. It will plug you up FOR REAL. It's not strong enough to make you go a lot the next day if you need it.Take a weak laxative with it. Still the best IBS/Constipation meds I've found."

"Have suffered from chronic IBS with constipation for 35 years. .. nothing has ever helped. I would go up to two weeks with no bowel movements... spending hours on the toilet for relief. Which usually involved severe cramping that caused vomiting and passing out. I started linzess almost a year ago. It has changed my life. I started with taking it every other day AS SOON AS YOU WAKE UP! Then you can function normally through the day. If you take it any other time it can cause diarrhea. If you want a good cleansing then take it with food in the am. My body has adjusted now and I need to take it everyday day. What I've noticed lately is that it's not as effective anymore. I'm worried after long term use it will no longer be effective"

"First Week with Linzess: (continued) Other notes: Bloating: yes, within 30 minutes of taking a pill, I can visually see my abdomen expand as Linzess causes the intestines to increase production of fluids. I don’t have that awful bloated feeling that you would suffer through with a bout of Colitis, this bloating is pain-free for me. But visually, you will be surprised until the BM occurs. Once finished, the bloating is gone and I feel better than I have in years the rest of the day. Timing of taking the pill: I have not figured this out at all. I may try bedtime next. No abdominal pain is liberating! I'll report more later!"

"I have been using linzess about 1-2 yrs. Since I thought great at first but now I'm having pain and trouble with my kidneys. Also weight gain and wondered why some days I am so bloated and nauseas. My Dr was sure he was aware of my kidney stones. Why is this still on the market with all these side effects ??? I also have cramps in legs, buttocks. I have so many stomach issues I don't need anymore. Doesn't make sense does it ??"

"I have been taking Linzess for one month and for the first time ever, I feel like I can have a normal life. I have suffered with Irritable Bowel Syndrome for 35 years, and it has controlled my life. I have diarrhea for a few hours after taking, but feel great the rest of the day. I am so excited, but just wish my insurance would cover this new medicine that has saved my quality of life!"

"I'm 65, have suffered from Irritable Bowel Syndrome-Constipation my entire adult life. Have taken 145 mcg dose of Linzess off and on since the middle of August 2013. The longest stretch I have taken it for is 12 days. I was also taking Align, but discontinued it during the 12-day Linzess experiment so I could evaluate the Linzess objectively, and got horrible trapped gas and splenic flexure syndrome for my troubles. I resumed the Align, which has been a blessing, and now do Linzess every second or third day. The Linzess is a very effective laxative, although it will give you at least one or two bouts of diarrhea every time. But without the Align it seems to aggravate the abdominal pain and bloating, NOT alleviate it. Align is more effective for gut pain."

"I am 33 and have Irritable Bowel Syndrome-Constipation. My bowels have a great habit of becoming immune to whatever medicines I try, so after Amitiza was my savior it no longer worked. So my doctor gave me samples of Linzess. I have 2 major IBS problems: constipation and severe bloating/abdominal distension. I am giving Linzess a 7 for the bloating/distension as that is why my GI doctor gave it to me. As for the constipation, it gave me watery stools for a few days then stopped working. I've been on it over a month. My side effects are - I have horrid sinus pain and pressure, constant runny nose drip, lots of fatigue, and decreased appetite. So my belly is a normal size now, but I have to have a tall bottle of magnesium citrate for a bowel motion."

"I started on linzess in April 2015. I thought it was my miracle drug, but it seems to have stopped working as well, and I have severe bloating/ abdominal distention. To make matters worse, I've gained weight. Not water weight either. I work out and eat low carb, but since starting linzess the scale is going up. It's looks as though I'm not the only one. Linzess needs to list potential weight gain as a side effect. But why would they do that? It's all about sales."
