"I had Liletta inserted in the fall of 2020 after I gave birth to my daughter. I didn’t really experience the pain that some describe but I did spot bleed for quite some time in the beginning and gradually my periods are gone, which was one of the main reasons I chose this birth control. However, I think this birth control has given me miserable side effects. I have lost all energy, my anxiety is 100 percent daily, and I constantly feel like something is wrong with me. I’ve gained over 50 pounds on this. For the longest time I have been trying to figure out what’s wrong with me (I’ve always been a healthy person overall) and I’m coming to the conclusion that it’s this BC! I’m definitely making an appointment to get this removed and look at other options, this just isn’t the way of life!"

"I got Liletta in Sept 2019 and had it removed 9/28/22. Over those 3 years I gained 30lbs, had no energy, outrageous mood swings, unpredictable periods, and had a non-existent sex drive. It’s been 3 days since having it removed and the biggest thing I’ve noticed is that I’m not so drained all the time. I mean I used to run to the grocery store and would have to leave before I was done because I’d need a nap. Now, I’m going through the day every day and I don’t feel like I’m constantly tired or exhausted. Also, I’ve already lost 3.5lbs. I’m not eating differently or working out more. The only thing that’s different is getting the IUD removed. Time will tell with the other symptoms, but I’m amazed at the progress I’ve had in just 3 short days."

"I got Liletta at the beginning of January. The insertion hurt pretty bad and the day after was pretty bad too. After that I didn't have periods and I loved it at first. No acne, my moods even seemed to improve. By February I noticed I gained 10 lbs and I had been eating very healthy and working out. Previously to getting liletta, I been losing weight and was continuing exactly what I had done before. By the end of February, I was having bad cramps and acne. My skin was awful. Every day there were new spots on my face. & My cramps hurt so bad I had to call into work one day. The final straw was the depression that hit me. All of a sudden I didn't care about anything and had no motivation. My thoughts were so dark. I got it removed in April."

"I had Liletta put in 6 weeks after I gave birth to my last child. The insertion process was painful with cramping after wards. I made my appointment to have it removed, which is 4 months shy of being in for 3 years. Pain was very small, more of a discomfort than anything. Four days after it was removed, I had the heaviest period I have ever had in my life! I started passing large blood clots and cramping very badly. I had to start wearing the largest overnight pads and depends because it wouldn't stop! I ended up in the Emergency Room a week later because it kept getting worse. My ears started ring, I had zero energy, I could hear my heart beat in my ears & heart rate was high. I lost so much blood that I was admitted to the hospital! To get the bleeding to slow down, I had to have 2 Estrogen treatments through my IV and a Progesterone pill. I now take 8 pills a day, and am still struggling to feel normal. They said it could take months. By the way, I'm still bleeding! Don't get a IUD!"

"I did a lot of research on this before starting it and was VERY nervous. Something I found interesting was most reviews were written after 1 - 3 months of insertion, but the company itself advises 3 - 6 months adjustment period for you body. So - I committed myself to the full 6 months before reviewing it. Honestly, I agreed after the first 2 months that it was not fun. I had spotting nearly every day and outright bleeding many days. My cramps were better, but not gone. But bleeding all the time was just horrible and not the tradeoff I wanted for reduced cramps. Then around 3 months my body started to adjust and I noticed the spotting was getting better. Now I'm at 7 months and my cycles have pretty much stopped, I have no cramping, I have occasional spotting. It is the BEST decision I made. I'm so happy I didn't let the negative reviews dissuade me. You MUST wait the 3 - 6 months for you body to adjust to this - you will be so happy you did!"

"This IUD has RUINED my life, everyone’s bodies react differently but what Liletta has done to me has ruined me & I am so angry that I paid money for my body/mind to be destroyed. IUD insertion wasn’t bad at all. I’ve had it for 5 months now & I'm going in next week to get it removed. During intercourse I experience severe pain & my man says it feels like something is stabbing him during certain positions. I experience extreme cramping after sex. But the worst part is, I have experienced extreme depression/anxiety & have unwanted sad thoughts for no apparent reason. I have NEVER experienced this before... it’s ruining my life. Its gotten so bad that I have LOST MY HAIR. I had amazing hair & now? I have no hair?? It’s so thin?? & everyday I wash my hair I notice more & more falling out... this is not normal. At all. Do NOT get Liletta. I am VERY UNHAPPY WITH THE RESULTS!!!! The only good thing I can say is, I’m not pregnant lol."

"Okay I’ve had my Liletta for a year before I got it taken out (today). For the first three months I bled nonstop. After that I felt fine. Then the side effects slowly but surely hit me one by one. After the non stop bleeding for 3 months I then started to get reoccurring yeast infections/ bacterial infections every month. I also gained 50 pounds, had horrible hot flashes, blurred vision, brain fog (TERRIBLY) , literally every symptom you can think of. I had it real bad and it's like every month that goes past the side effects got worse and worse. My moodiness, NO sex drive, and low energy (VERY LOW) almost cost me my relationship and job. I literally didn’t feel like myself anymore. At first I did like it but then I started to get alarmed I didn’t feel like myself but the crazy part of it is, what really drove me to get it out is the HORRIBLE SMELL I WAS GETTING IN MY VAGINA. It smelled like something crawled in and died I couldn’t bare it anymore. I felt like people could smell it through my clothes."

"This experience is hellish! Although it doesn't allow you to get preg, as intended, it makes you have many side effects. I am a healthy 5'7" althletic woman. I weighed 130 when inserted 6 months ago. My sugar cravings and moods have been all over the map. I am bloated. I am swollen. My periods are still heavy. They actually are twice as long now. My sex drive us non existent. I've been to a hormone specialist now (1k later in costs) to get blood drawn only to find out all of above and the 14lb weight gain (I'm now 144lb) is all bc of this device. I'm constantly bloated. My size 4 pants no longer fit my swollen and worn out body. Beware! Get it out! You've been talked into this and likely don't need it!!!!"

"Well it has now been about 18 days since insertion and the spotting comes and goes as it pleases and I'm cranky some days. Some days I don't bleed at all other days its bright red spotting other days its like a Brown color spotting. Getting frustrated with the a spotting, but my Dr. says its normal and in having more acne than normal. So thats the not so great. Heres the great my sex drive has went up ALOT lol and I have lost about 5 lbs. And my migraines have cut down over half of what I normally get I don't know if its the liletta or not but its nice not to have migraines every day (been dealing with them for 10 years) So there's an update on my liletta experiance. Ill post another update in a month or so hopefully with better news lol..."

"Acne non stop, mood swings that are ruining my life. I don't even know who I am anymore. I've gained 40 pounds in less than 7 months. I barely eat and I'm very active. Always have been about the same size, but I'm now bigger than I was 8 months pregnant with a baby on my hip. Lots of anxiety. I can't figure it out. Going to have it removed ASAP. I'm scared. But other than that. Not pregnancies and eventually stopped having periods all together"

"I’ve had Liletta for almost two years. I had twins and the thought of having another child was unnerving. My dr convinced me to get an IUD and said Liletta was the best option. I bled for 6 months straight, have blurred vision, horrible weight gain which won’t budge despite diet changes and 2.5-3 mile runs every day, bacterial infections, acne all over my chin/jawline plus my shoulders and back, horrible mood swings, and back pain so bad I can’t even get out of bed some days. My dr kept insisting I keep it in, and against better judgement I listen. But after two years I will be getting it removed in two days and I’m praying everything changes for the better."

"Date of insertion: December 9, 2019, review date January 26,2020. I got my IUD after I had my second baby, the insertion was not unbearable I felt cramps the whole time. Shortly after the insertion I started to break out in cold sweats and nearly fainted it really scared me. From the first week of insertion my anxiety was through the roof. I bleed for about three weeks then haven’t bled since. Since getting this birth control I have had mood swings, depression, and really bad anxiety. I have never felt this low in my life. On top of that my hair has been falling out in clumps I can’t brush my hair or even wash it with out chunks of hair coming out. I really wanted this to work for me. I plan on getting it removed if the side effects have not levelled out by the third month. While I have lost weight since I still look very bloated all the time even more so than right after I had my baby, my stomach went down and now is big again. This has really messed with my mental health and self confidence."

"I had the IUD inserted back in February 2016, around 6-8 weeks after the birth of of second child. The insertion was uncomfortable, but tolerable; I have a pretty high pain tolerance however. Since then, my depression has worsened-- this wasn't PPD-- I've gained nearly 30lbs, I have zero libido, developed severe anxiety, have panic attacks, and debilitating migraines. I'm getting it removed next Friday. If I did this page again, I'll update once it's out and the hormones have worked their way out of my system."

"Worst birth control I’ve ever used. I had it placed 2 months after my last child. I had it in for 11 months. The worst 11 months of my life. I had a constant yeast infection. I hardly produced any natural lubricant. I started having severe ezcema on both of my hands about 2 weeks after insertion. Despite HIIT, spin 1 hour 3 times a week, and healthy portioned eating, weight refused to go below a certain amount. I had constant bloating, terrible headaches, extreme water retention, depression, constant body aches (like flu) and so much more. I had the IUD removed and I have gradually started feeling myself again. I’ve had it out 3 days and I’m down 4 pounds. My hands aren’t as swollen and the eczema has started to go away. Never again."

"Getting it in was bad, but the entire MONTH after was the worst most painful experience of my life. Every single day was filled with crippling, knee buckling, tear inducing cramps throughout the days and nights. Once that month was over the cramping went down and the periods themselves slowly went away until I didn't have a period anymore. Within the last four years I remember things like: low libido, pain during sex, EXTREME pain after sex (great way to keep the morale up with your partner), gaining weight although I lead a somewhat active life and work on my feet, but the tipping point for me is the never ending growth of my breasts. I started as a 38B and I'm now up to a 36DD with those bras even beginning to be too small. I'm not the type to show my body off so the big breasts are just adding to my depression and anxiety (which might also be caused by the IUD?) and I'm willing to get off birth control and turn to condoms and ovulation tracking to feel like I own my body again."

"Inserted after second pregnancy. I requested Mirena but was told Liletta was as effective and better. Well I experienced virtually no sex drive, horrible mood swings, and gained 15 pounds all in 10 months. I have now been off it 3 months and finally have my sex drive back. Still battling getting rid of the weight gained."

"I have had 2 rounds (5 years each) with the Mirena and never had a problem. This round they used the Liletta IUD which was inserted on June 1st. It was supposed to be better. It is not. I have had my period for 37 days straight. They should advertise that it's effective because you won't have sex since you will have your period EVERY SINGLE DAY. I have resorted to buying pads and tampons in bulk. I'm over it. Biggest mistake and wish I spoke up and insisted on the other brand. Stay away from this one. It's not worth it. I gave it the one star because I will take part blame for not doing more research."

"Hi ladies, If you're thinking about Liletta, I wish to share my story since it would have been great to know this when I was evaluating my options. I had Liletta inserted after my postpartum about a year ago. First of all the insertion is painful and not pleasant at all. I had cramping and bleeding and it was not fun. However, that went away after about a week and I must say that I enjoyed this birth control. In June, I saw my OB and the IUD was doing fine. However, somewhere between June and October my IUD was nowhere to be found. My OB ordered a CT scan and guess what - the IUD was found OUTSIDE OF MY UTERUS! At this point, I have to have a surgery to get it out and who knows what the side effects will be from that. My point is not to scare anyone out there, but to educate so that you have all the information available. Please note - according to Liletta perforation is most common in breastfeeding women, which I was."

"I’ve had Liletta for ~1yr. This week I’m finally getting it removed! NEGATIVES: 1. WEIGHT GAIN! Before I got this IUD, I had lost 60lbs. I finally felt the best about myself that I ever had. BUT after getting this IUD- despite 0 changes in my diet/exercise- I’ve gained almost 50lbs. 2. ACNE! I have never had acne... until I got Liletta. I’ve now developed cystic acne all over my cheeks and in random spots on my face. 3. MOOD! I’ve always been super joyful and generally very happy- until I got this IUD. I cried randomly every other day the first 6 months that I had this IUD. Now, I get irritated VERY easily and my anxiety has reached an all time high. I can’t express how much this IUD has harmed my mental health. 4. PERIODS! I never used to get cramps, but now I get very painful ones all the time. Also, my periods used to only last 3 days, but now they last 7+ days. The only POSITIVE that I can think of is that I didn’t get pregnant!"

"I've just had the Liletta IUD inserted and one of the first things on my to do list (besides mentally recover from the trauma) was to add my comment to the plethora of literature on the internet. I read so many terrible reviews concerning the Pain, and I honestly thought that the women who posted about that either had a low pain tolerance, or they were just expressing their unhappiness with the other side effects of the IUD. I am here to set you all straight... it's about 3 hours now since the trauma.. and ... it.. was.. the WORST PAIN OF MY LIFE. I don't even know how to describe it. Imagine a period cramp, except instead of being dull and spread across your lower abdomen, it's concentrated to one exact spot. Multiply by 1,000,000."

"I've have lilletta for 3 years now. I've have had no major complications at all. My mood does have an array of emotions but that's just how I am. My skin sometimes does break out yes but it's never serious. My secret is hair skin and nails gummies. Loaded with keratin and vitamins. E. You can find them at your local dollar store. On my face and chest and shoulders but it's never been too serious. I recently went to see my gynecologist and she told me I was good for another 2 years maybe longer. I said okay but I've had spotting recently, which I haven't have since August of 2017, 6 months after insertion. Also I've had some fatigue recently, I work 2 jobs currently and I didn't feel like that when I worked 16 hours a day 6 days a week during summer season. I do experience cramping every so often, which again I haven't had since August of 2017. Last but not least, weight gain. I've gained around 10 lbs in the last 4 months, but I work about 40 hours a week now. As to why I don't know."

"My Dr gave me a pill to take in preparation for the insertion of liletta and I didn’t experience any real pain. I have had this in since having my daughter, for about 18 months and have never had a controlled cycle. Originally I bled for months non stop. The dr and reviews said to wait it out and that it should stop. Finally after 6-8 months, the sporadic daily bleeding/spotting stopped but I still felt like I was always bleeding. Here is my typical month - period starts and last for 8-10 days, spot off and on for next 10 days, then period starts again. This is ruining my life (not even being dramatic). I would rather just take my risk and get pregnant than bleed all month. I have an appointment for removal next week. My Dr wants to try another brand that doesn’t have this as a top side effect. Wish me luck!"

"I think IUDs are a different experience for every woman because we all have different bodies. For me, Liletta has worked wonderfully! The insertion felt like bad cramping, but not unbearable. I've noticed some women on here are saying that they didn't bleed long after Liletta insertion which is awesome, but my experience was that I spotted for a few weeks after with some occasional bad cramping, which I didn't feel like it was a big problem for me. A few months later my periods are consistent and I only get some slight cramping before periods. I used to have horrible cramps and heavy periods but now my periods have become lighter and the cramps are not nearly as bad!"

"I had this IUD put in almost two years ago. Pro: I'm not pregnant. Cons: Constant spotting still to this day, no sex drive, can feel it every now and then, and my boyfriend can feel it but has gotten used to it. I'm not sure why everyone says it hurt to be put in, because mine didn't. I did have to go back to have the string cut even more because it actually started to come out of me. Personally - I wouldn't recommend getting this product. I will be taking mine out as my boyfriend has realized how annoying the spotting is. Can't wear any cute underwear because you never know when the spotting will start up and not having a sex drive is a killer. Why have an IUD if you don't even have a sex drive..?!"
