"I was prescribed Levofloxacin for an unconfirmed UTI and strep throat. Dr did not have confirmation positive on either infection. I have history of UTI. After taking one pill I got a horrible headache and called the office. Dr said take Tylenol every 6 hours but before I could do that I began vomiting and retching and this went on for 6 long hours! I am a senior and thought I’d die for sure. Fortunately my son came to the rescue and the vomiting stopped but I felt rotten for days! And I never had strep or UTI either. None of those symptoms appeared afterwards. I will never will return to that dr again for his services."

"I was given this drug for diverticulitis at the ER. After 2 days on this medication, my body started shaking uncontrollably from my neck down. I couldn't get it to stop, and I couldn't sleep, which lead to severe anxiety/depression. When I went to my doctor 3 days later for follow up she couldn't believe the dosage they put me on when there was no blockage. She advised that I stay on it 2 more days, but I just couldn't do it. To this day (and this was in 2019), I still have nerve issues, tremors and anxiety. If you look up the "brand" name of this drug it's Levaquin which was pulled from the market in 2017. According to the FDA, doctors should stop treatment with Levaquin, Avelox and similar drugs immediately if patients report experiencing central nervous system side effects, psychiatric adverse reactions, or blood glucose problems."

"This medication was absolutely horrible for me - it could be fine for others. I took it for diverticulitis and could not sleep for 2 days after only taking one pill but took another dose before I talked to my doc, at this point I had stomach cramping, severe anxiety and I will never ever take this again. The side effects went on for close to 3 days and then off and on for 5 days. If you have anxiety I highly recommend not taking this or seeing if another med is an option. The worse was the anxiety but I was also confused at times. I also wasn't confident in driving while I had the side effects because it overall just made me feel weird. I will never touch this again!!!"

"10 day course (250mg) for an unconfirmed bacterial infection. Discontinued use after the 3rd day. Uncomfortable side effects included anxiety, high blood pressure, muscle and joint pain. My advice is to not use this medication. Weigh the risk. If you can heal you’re infection naturally or with another antibiotic, do so. Only use Levofloxacin if it’s going to save your life."

"Do NOT take this for h.pylori, it’s a 14day treatment. This bacteria is not worth getting prescribed this nightmare antibiotic. I did half a pill on the 5th day and stopped, now my heart has not been the same it races by itself. My nerves come and go with burning and the twitching is as bad like when I took this antibiotic. The head nerves feel messed up, and itchy skin is bad. Yes I did read the reviews, but found out h.pylori can be treated natural and can be dropped to a safe rate. Just take probiotics find another route. Even after telling them it had a boxed warning label the nurse laughed and said don’t believe everything you see online. They didn’t even acknowledge it had a boxed warning label. The anxiety was the worse part as h.pylori causes that and then to have this quadruple it. Then for the doctors to say you need anxiety pills for 6 months no way."

"I had a spinal fusion. I went back to work, as a checker, after only 4 months. After 2 months, my back was in bad shape. Because it was a L and I issue, I had to go through 8 months of PT, 8 hours a day. Which got me physically in good shape, ( I’m 5’4/120lbs). About 4 months into therapy, I got bit by a Hobo Spider. The Dr put me on 500mg for 3 weeks. I told my PT and we went gentle on my workout. We were concerned with the tendon separation issue, so slow walk on treadmill instead of brisk walk lighter on stretching, ie.. I never received any side effects except, being outside at a lake for about an hour without sunscreen. And it was early summer, 65/70 degrees and I got badly sunburned, as red as a lobster, and that burn turned to tan after about a month. It did take 6 months for the spider bite to fully heal. It was concave and about the size of a 50 cent piece. I believe this antibiotic worked wonders, especially seeing pics of how bad it could have been if not treated."

"I got a bacterial infection and took 500 Mg 1 a day for 7 days. I did not notice any specific side effects at the time. Then later I noticed when I picked up plastic bags, or touched the reusable grocery shopping bags I would develop red welts on my hands or arm where it touched. Then I noticed that when I drank lemonade or anything made with lemons, I would break out too. I was only allergic to penicillin before this, now I have to be careful what I touch and ask about what is in foods."

"Page 1. Levofloxacin is definitely not a drug that should be taken lightly in any case. If your not familiar with any drug, please do the research before taking it. Understandably it's difficult to do if you have been admitted into the ER/ Hospital. I was very fortunate to have my partner who helped me to nip it in the bud before it got out of control. I was admitted into the hospital with only a fever, no severe coughing. A CT Scan and blood work was perf to find the bacteria infection if any; was not found specifically. Yet within the following day a doctor of internal medicine (4 years experienced) prescribed levofloxacin through an IV."

"Taking for an infected toe. The infection is eating away the bone. I really know if it is working as there was no swelling or pain in the first place. Side effects are minimal and tolerable, some stomach discomfort and fatigue."

"I was put on Levofloxin 500mg for 14 days. I had a headache and dizziness each day. On the 13th day, I blacked out on the kitchen floor hitting my head, shoulder, and hip, I wasn't hurt. On the 14th day, returning from the bathroom to the kitchen, I passed out again, falling over my walker and landing unconscious on the kitchen floor. My son-in-law found me in a pool of blood 15 minutes later and called an ambulance. I regained consciousness when the EMT'S were loading me on the gurney. In the E.R.., I received 6 stitches above my left eye and was told I had blood on my brain. I was hospitalized for 6 days."

"I started taking this medicine a week ago. It was a ten day course. I took it for an upper respiratory infection that effected my lungs, throat, eyes, sinuses and my ears. I was afraid because of all the horror stories about this drug. But I had no side effects. Trouble is it just didn't work very well. On day 8 there is improvement for sure. But my ear is NOT getting any better. I can't taste, or smell, and I cannot hear well out of my right ear and it is full of pressure. Maybe it will work for you."
