"It took about 5 days to really start working, but then I really felt much better. For a few nights when I lay down, I would cough, but that was because it was clearing up. I had been sick for almost 3 months with a sinus infection, and other antibiotics did not help. I did have some sore tendons, but not too bad. For sinus infections, it's excellent. I took 500 milligrams for 10 days."

Levofloxacin "After running fever for days on end and being given weak antibiotics that were not effective, my physician gave me Levaquin. In less than 24 hours, I felt like a human again and could get out of bed. I had zero side effects. This antibiotic kept me from being septic and hospitalized."

"I was aware of all the possible side effects, but I took Levaquin on the advice of a nurse practitioner who filled in for my pulmonary specialist. I have bronchiectasis and COPD for many years and recently developed new symptoms. Sputum culture revealed Pseudomonas, the drug of choice being one of the Floxin family. It cleared up all the pulmonary symptoms in several days, but I developed anxiety, thrush in my mouth, loss of appetite, and muscle aches and pains in various joints. I continued the drug for 5 days (750 mg) in spite of side effects. Most have decreased, but I still have pains in my shoulders. I'm an exercise fanatic, but I'm afraid to work out because of the possibility of a ruptured tendon. I'm 85 years old."

"I was admitted to the hospital for 4 days and treated for acute diverticulitis. While in the hospital, I was treated with an IV antibiotic. Upon discharge, I was prescribed LEVOFLOXACIN 750 mg, one per day. Within two days, my complete muscular/tendons throughout my body were in the WORST PAIN EVER! Can’t walk, drive, hold onto a walker, lift my arms...any movement is severe pain. It’s been 10 days and still the same. Been taking an opiate for pain but no relief. There is no antidote! Tomorrow, I will begin a muscle relaxer by itself, and hopefully the pain will stop and I’ll have my life back. NEVER AGAIN!"

Levofloxacin "Took Levaquin for lingering congestion and low-grade fever following a bout of influenza. Read about the side effects involving tendons, so was watchful during the 10 days I took it. Had no problems until the morning after the last dose when I woke up with all 10 fingers painfully locked in a curled position ('trigger finger'). Improved after a day or so, but I still have occasional trouble with one finger."

"Day 3 of taking this levofloxacin, and I must say this is the worst drug I’ve ever had to take. If I didn’t have an S. maltophilia bacteria growing in my nose, I would NEVER take this medication. Unfortunately, this or Bactrim were my only options! Constant headache, worst anxiety you could imagine, and my heart feels like it’s going to explode after taking it each day. Blood pressure and pulse have been through the roof since starting these pills! Constant headache and back pain as well. If you don’t absolutely have to take levofloxacin, DO NOT!!!"

"The effects of this far outweigh the problem it was meant to solve. I was given this for a bacterial infection of MRSA (after researching this should NOT be given for MRSA at all (Clinical Advisor)). I was given this on Oct 5th, 2015. On October 8th, I was making dinner and my legs (lower legs/bi-lateral) began to hurt terribly. I began shaking and became weak. I sat down after the shaking subsided, it took everything I had to stand up, the pain was mind-blowing. Ever since then, I have had numerous tests done to rule out ???? whatever they seemed to think it could be. I was finally told by my PCP that it was the effects of Levaquin. It will be a year soon and I still suffer with weakness, shakiness, and extreme pain. My life has changed for the worse."

"I was prescribed 500 mg of levofloxacin to get rid of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. I don't have a weakened immune system or C.F., and my lungs do not show congestion. I'm on day 13 of 14 and still seeing the black flecks in my mucus. Joint pain and weakness are the side effects I've noticed. But it doesn't seem to have been effective in killing the bacterial infection."

"I used this medication, levofloxacin, for my stubborn cough. After 1 week of continuous medication, I feel better, and my cough is gone. Every time I get a chest infection with a cough, I take 1 capsule per day for 7 days only."

"After a trip that we took in Texas, I got a pretty bad cough and felt really cold at night, yet I was sweating like crazy. This lasted a good week until I went to the doctor. It didn't help matters that I swam with fish in Texas well water. But I believe there is bacteria in that water, and so did my doctor. This medication works. For the ones complaining, I believe that they didn't have bacterial issues. My skin looks better, and I have the energy that I need for motherhood and my full-time job."

Levofloxacin "My legs look like they were beaten with a baseball bat from the ankles and halfway up my calves, and I am in pain most of the time since this antibiotic (Levaquin) that was put into my body by IV in my arm. The doctor who admitted me ordered a different antibiotic, Ceftriaxone, and it was working; I don't even know the doctor who changed the order and was never introduced or suggested that there would be a change. I felt like they really did not care whether I lived or died because of the way I was treated while in the hospital. They treat animals better than I was treated. Admitted on the 11th and discharged on the 15th at 12:00 midnight. Who discharges a patient from a hospital in the middle of the night? If I had acquired this information that I was able to acquire before going there, I would have gone somewhere else! This hospital has an 'F' rating with the BBB and horrible customer reviews! And they got paid!"

"I already suffer with anxiety, but these pills made it 10 times worse. All I thought the whole time is, “Am I going to die?” “I feel like I’m dying.” So, in other words, it gave me negative thoughts, which is no good. Day 6 was the last one I forced myself to take because I didn’t want to be taking them for nothing. I still continued to have back pain, abdominal discomfort, headaches, tension headaches, dizziness, and my ribs felt extra heavy, or I don’t know how to describe it. This back pain and rib pain lasted 2 weeks after I stopped. Now it’s been 3 weeks, and I felt my leg feeling tight, but it went away. Now I feel pain in my arms, coming and going. I also had lower back pain and higher back pain. My heart rate is going up and down. I have dizziness also. I didn’t know these pills would do all this. I’m 20 years old, and I’m a female. Every day is a new symptom, even though I’m not on it anymore. They were super expensive."

"This medicine was the start of one of the worst journeys in my life. I went to the ER for abdominal pain (I have never been to the ER before, so this was new for me at age 58), and after tests were run, I was told I had diverticulitis. I was prescribed levofloxacin, a generic of Levaquin, and a very high dose even though there was no blockage. The misery started on day 3 of this medication, which was to be taken for 10 days. My body started shaking uncontrollably from my neck down. It was like I had Parkinson's and didn't let up, which affected my work/job as I was an account executive and on the road every day for work (UPS). When I went to see my GP for a follow-up after 5 days and she noticed my body movements, she asked how long they had me on it. When I showed her the bottle, she was shocked. She asked me to stop taking it if the shaking didn't stop or lessen after 2 days. A year later, I was still recovering and ended up with anxiety and depression due to insomnia. DO NOT TAKE!"

"Had a deep neck, sinus, and throat infection along with a developing genital infection. I wasn’t in a good place. Went to Dr. where I was prescribed 10 days of 500 mg levofloxacin after the practitioner noticed swelling in my testicles. After taking the first pill, I noticed very mild pain in my right foot, so I looked up side effects of the drug and immediately stopped. Knowing I needed the antibiotics, I decided to cut the pills in half to take two 250 mg doses per day. I’m now on day 5 taking 2 doses a day and so far my foot pain has gone away and no other side effects have surfaced. The swelling in my neck has gone down to practically nothing and my genital infection is gone. I haven’t felt this good in months, maybe years."

Levofloxacin "Took Levaquin for 4 days after a week of amoxicillin did not help with a spider bite. Last night, I broke out in severe hives. Now taking steroids to counteract the antibiotic. Only reason I rated what I did is because the spider bite is much better."

"Due to a sudden onset of extreme bacterial infection [discovered while the surgeon did a knee replacement], I was put on TAVANIC 750 mg as well as Rimactane 300 mg per day. It was decided upon these two meds after blood histology of the infection. I have taken both antibiotics for the past 3 months [my infection rate is normal the past month] but decided to stop today, although I need to go for another infection marker blood test the 12th Nov. 2020. I cannot have a life on these medications, and it seems the Tavanic is really hard on my body - every dire side effect is known to me and my body! I cannot recognize the real me inside this old lady's body and brain!"

"I had what was likely a Staph infection. My hand began to swell up, and the infected site appeared to be pus-filled, black, white, and red. Horrific. This antibiotic reduced swelling almost completely within the 5-day period it was prescribed. I had 0 side effects, thank goodness. Maybe some slight grogginess, but truly nothing to complain about."

Levofloxacin "Feel like I have body aches after taking this medication. It seems to keep me awake at night too, which is annoying. Also, I can't tell whether it is working or my body is fighting off my sore throat by itself. My appetite changed too."

"Well, tried it today to see if it works for H. pylori. Since the other medication broke me out in an allergic reaction. The reviews look very bad, and even the actual website of this drug. Will see how it goes, I guess one day at a time, and the mind plays a big factor when taking antibiotics, the nurse said. First dose today made me sore, feel good though, but anxiety always wants to creep in."

"This stuff is bad news. I took it for 3 days 10 years ago after a minor surgery, and I have never been the same since. I am convinced that it triggered my rheumatoid arthritis. I could hardly move for quite some time afterwards due to severe joint pain and stiffness. If I could rate it -1000/10, I would."

"I'm 19 and was prescribed 750 mg for 14 days, stopped after 3 days after noticing soreness in knees and in heel. I was terrified to take this, but being allergic to penicillin and azithromycin, I had to try it. It's now been 3 days since my last dose, and I still have notable soreness in my right heel. I am praying this goes away. I can still walk, but I definitely can't exercise. I am taking magnesium supplements and bromelain for inflammation, with ibuprofen. Otherwise, I had no problems with sleep (if anything, I was more tired) and no stomach upset. I think it's also worth mentioning that I suffer from anxiety already, and this did not worsen my pre-existing condition. Give it a shot, but the second you notice soreness anywhere, stop taking it."

"When I read the comments - especially having health anxiety. I had already put in my head that it was going to be really bad. I have had H. pylori bacteria and gastritis for over a year. Symptoms got worse, I can’t eat dairy and try to stick to a bland diet. Previously, I tried the Nexium Hp7 box twice, and that didn’t work - the yellow tablet had the ugliest effect on me. I had another bacterial infection (UTI) and needed Flagyl. That was disgusting, so I told the gastro specialist to give me anything but those two. I am on levofloxacin 500 mg twice a day, along with another different antibiotic and a PPI (acid med). I am on a course of these for 10 days, and today is my 8th day. Blessed to say side effects from this medication just involve feeling a little groggy, which is normal for me anyway, and hard to sleep. I don’t think my H. pylori has healed, and symptoms are still the same. I have another endoscopy in 2 days, and hopefully, they can get to the root of it."
