"Took Lupron injections for several months, prior to surgery to reduce my fibroids. It did the trick, and the surgery was successful. Within two years, I got pregnant and had my daughter. Without Lupron, and my procedure it may have never happened. Had no issues with Lupron, except for the hot flashes I was forewarned about."

"I have had many years of heavy, painful periods. Diagnosed with bulky uterus (size 16 weeks) with endometriosis and fibroids. My gynecologist recommended lupron depot to shrink my uterus before going for laprascopic hysterectomy. I'm 53 years old. I have had 2 shots now, and going for my 3rd next week. I have had a lot of side effects from this medication: night sweats (not every night, mild), insomnia, no energy, restless legs/muscle spasms, depression (cry every day at least once) and mood swings (my poor family) So next week when I get shot #3 I am hoping that he will have my surgical date booked as I cannot live with the pain and constant bleeding. The shot plus add-back therapy has only given me hope that I will eventually get back to normal and better quality of life."

"*Update from post Sept 23* It's been over 1 month since my Lupron shot and I have been bleeding continuously since Sept 21st. On and off from light spotting to filling pads every 30 minutes with large clots. I can tell the shot has effected my hormones as I get hot flashes through the night to the point of sweating, I loose my train of thought and I forget easy. My Gyno just told me to increase iron intake from 150 to 300 and take TXA when needed. I completed 3 iron IV'S to help build my blood. Hopefully I will stop bleeding for my surgery on Nov 14th."

"I have not had the injection yet but am taking the one month version today. I am nervous after reading these things. I have over 20 fibroids. One that is 10 cm, I can feel touching my rib cage.... YES, my rib cage. This will be my second fibroid surgery but this one is worse. Has anyone had a provider say to use progestin (low dose) to help minimize the side effects? I was told you should not use estrogen based BC with these products. Will I need calcium/vit D for my bone health? I am worried about hair loss. The Anemia I have has already made my hair fall out. I don't need any more help with that. Please share your experiences."

"I was put on a Lupron Depot shot monthly, with add back hormones because of my age (29), after trying number of unsuccessful treatments for heavy bleeding from fibroids (multiple, 10 cm largest). The first period on Lupron was heavier than normal but I did not have one again until 3 months after my last shot. I only took it for 6 months because the side effects were horrible, but on the bright side I didn't have a period for 9 months. The side effects I experienced were: extremely dry skin to the point of peeling off my face in chunks, zero sex drive, significant weight loss, and depression. I was put on a higher dose of add back hormones to try to address the side effects, but ultimately stopped filling my prescription as I wanted to feel like myself again. To date, it is the only intervention that has controlled bleeding from my fibroids other than the Kyleena IUD. Fibroids have grown back since stoping Lupron."

"Back in Sept 2019 I had a submucosal fibroid at 1.3cm in size. I was offered Lupron back then but didn't pursue it. Covid hit and I didn't end up doing anything other than iron supplements. Dec 2022 I decided to see a naturopath as my symptoms were getting worse (heavy periods, clots, extreme tiredness, pale skin, painful intercourse) July 2022 I had the worst period ever which put me in the hospital needing 2 blood transfusions. I had an ultrasound which confirmed my 1.3cm fibroid had grown to 8.3cm. Due to my condition we agreed to have a partial hysterectomy. Surgery is Nov 14th. I took Lupron 11.25mg shot on Sept 6th. I will have 3 iron IV's prior to my surgery to build hemo (Sept 20, 26, Oct 4) before surgery. Sept 22nd I started bleeding like a normal period but day 3 now is heavy with clots. I am on tranexamic (2/8 hrs) but will change to 2/6hrs as the bleeding isn't slowing down. No other major symptoms yet other then 2-3 migraines. Will re-post with updates."
