Insulin degludec for Diabetes, Type 1 "This insulin Tresiba made me feel like I was constantly sick. I gained weight quickly, had heart palpitations, no energy, muscle weakness to the point I couldn't walk more than a few feet. Always tired - I would fall asleep at 8 pm and wake up tired at 7:30 am. Felt like I was injecting poison into my body. I became depressed because my body hurt so bad. My stomach hurt and it was bloated. If it wasn't for others posting their symptoms, I probably wouldn't have related all my symptoms to my insulin. I've been diabetic for over 50 years. As soon as I stopped, it took me 2 days to feel like my old self again. I will never take this medication EVER again."

Insulin degludec for Diabetes, Type 1 "Worst A1C I’ve ever had with this insulin. Started at 34 units of Toujeo and am now only taking 14 units of Tresiba and still experiencing issues. I’ve been experiencing nighttime drops where I give myself only 1 unit of rapid for 50+ carbs at dinner and my blood sugar falls all night. I’ll go to bed at a very high 20 and wake up 8, so I don’t feel safe going to bed when I’m NOT high. And then during the day, my blood sugar rises like crazy, and it’s like my fast acting doesn’t work at all during lunch. I’ve also never felt sicker. Have had stomach issues, bloating, cramping, and pain that’s made me cry. I got an ultrasound done, but they found nothing wrong, but after reading these reviews, I’m wondering if it’s the Tresiba since all these problems started only when I’ve been on it. I’ve had shortness of breath and chest pain and have felt so weak I couldn’t make it across the room. I’m honestly miserable on this insulin."

Insulin degludec for Type 2 Diabetes "I took this medication for 4 weeks. I was on Lantus prior. I got a headache, which I thought would go away, however, it didn't. I became bloated and started getting flu-like symptoms. Only wanted to sleep and felt I couldn't even walk to the mailbox. I thought I was dying. I finally realized it must be the new insulin. I stopped and told my doctor I wanted to return to the Lantus. She agreed. I am slowly beginning to feel better, but it has been two weeks, and I'm still not back to my old self. This is a terrible drug. I also gained 6 pounds on top of everything else. How could this drug ever get approval?"

Insulin degludec for Type 2 Diabetes "I actually crave sugar and soda. My bones are stiff and hurt, and I have never had a good fasting number. I am taking it morning and night, even though it lasts 48 hours in my pamphlet, it does not for me. Excessive urine, thirst, and diarrhea with bloating and gas."

Insulin degludec for Type 2 Diabetes "My doctor prescribed this insulin called Tresiba because my A1C was around 7. I have been taking it about 2 weeks now, and I feel horrible. I feel nauseous, and my stomach feels bloated. Prior to this, I was taking Kombiglyze XR for 5 years, but it wasn't keeping my A1C down enough, but I didn't have these nasty side effects (only loose stools, but that didn't bother me because I can easily get constipated)."

Insulin degludec for Diabetes, Type 1 "So delighted that Tresiba immediately helped my dawn phenomenon. So many years of morning highs on Levemir. Wow. Then disaster struck. Bad bloating, nausea, and dizziness plus weight gain. The insulin nurse said, 'she doubts it’s the insulin' and not to go back to the other one if it’s working. After googling side effects, I think it may be the cause, so I will rebel and see what happens."

For Diabetes, Type 1 "I have been on Tresiba for about 6 to 7 months and have gained about 10 pounds, mostly in my gut area, love handles, and biceps. I have kept my weight in a good range by running 5 days a week, but now I am starting to look and feel bloated all the time. I do like the fact that I am not profusely sweating like Lantus did to me. What is a diabetic to do? I can't lower the basal anymore. I take about 10 to 11 units and use 2 doses. I take 7 units in the morning and 3 to 4 units at 8:30 PM."

Insulin degludec for Type 2 Diabetes "This is the second day on this insulin. Woke up and my stomach was bloated, lump in my throat, and lethargic with flu-like symptoms. Waiting on a call back from my doctor."

Insulin degludec for Type 2 Diabetes "My endo, who is a PA not even a MD, prescribed Tresiba to me. I took the Tresiba for about 2 weeks. I noticed I was getting headaches every day, dry mouth, constant thirst, stomach cramps, IBS symptoms such as bloating and diarrhea, and slightly blurred vision. Well, the other day I went in to see the PA/endocrinologist. I told him I quit taking the Tresiba and restarted taking my Lantus 2 times a day. OMG, he got so angry and upset that he walked out of the room while I was talking to him. He actually said if you aren't going to do things 'MY WAY', then there is no use for you to see me. That's right. I am going to look around this week for a new endo. That kind of attitude is highly unprofessional. I explained to him that I was not going to take a medication that causes me painful side effects. No, I'll never take Tresiba again."
