"I got the shot the first time and I had no issues. The second time I had an adverse reaction. Many people on this thread are saying they had chills constant pain they couldn't walk they couldn't get around, their knee blew up and soreness. That is enough adverse reactions. You need to go to your doctor and get the fluid drained off and they have to be aware that you had an adverse reaction. I've been to the doctor twice for that and it has been extremely painful. Really I should have got the medicine in three different doses since I have arthritis so bad but they never really informed me. I had an option so I always took it one dose. No longer. I learned a lot from this last experience and I just want to share with you that if you do have any uncomfortable feeling and swelling, pain and fullness and any other symptoms I described that is an adverse reaction. You may see more and more of these especially if you get it repeatedly so please be careful and be informed."

"The pain went away for about 2 weeks and then the pain came back strong. I think the Synvisc one doesn't do what they say it does. There needs to be another form of injection without having to go to the doctor 5 weeks in a row that will last a true six months this Synvisc one shot was not worth the money that they charge the health insurance and myself"

"I have always been a very active person. But I started to get a bulge around my left knee. Really not painful untill I got back into heels. Then it ached. . So I stepped down to my sneakers. If I did extreme lifting and carrying cases of water upstairs thet would ache. But I started hearing the grinding of my knee. I made an appointment with ortho doc.,got MRI done of my knee. I needed a knee replacement! But I wasn't ready yet even though I am getting up there, I surprise people all the time with what I still do. ......Got the shots, one in each knee. No big deal. 6 weeks later,I cannot walk, using crutches,in enormous pain. Knees so swollen and hard. Can't bend them. What do I do now?"

"Had plica band arthroscopic resection done and had post op cortisone injections which only lasted one month. I then went back for Synvisc One injection which lasted four months. I'm going back for an other injection of Synvisc. It really helps in my case anyway."

"I had a SynVisc1 shot 10 days ago. Was so looking forward to it as the cortisone shot I had gotten before it lasted a short 2 months. I had tried earlier to have the shot but Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield would not approve it til I tried other options. So then the cortisone was done. Then they approved it. It was a pain thru Wellmark. And a bigger pain when the SynVisc1 was done. Excruciating pain! Thought I was gonna pass out! Barely made it to my car. I am in much pain. Can't bend my knee. Shooting pain from tip of toe to butt. I am waiting impatiently. Some people say they got theirs done with an ultrasound guidance. I did not. I question if he hit the spot. He is one of the top orthopeds in Cedar Rapids. Said may take 30 DAYS!"

"Just got done with Synvisc One shots in both knees. This totally worth it. Knees feel great and pain just about gone. I can start getting back to walking with a regular gait again. Been doing this for about 5 years now. Synvisc never fails"

"For Osteoarthritis my Wife is , 74, has severe Bilateral primary osteoarthritis of knees. She had been on Euflexxa for the past few years. 4 months after injection her pain would get worse. We switched to Synvisc One. The Physicians Assistant explained that she has to feel for the soft spot adjacent to the knee cap to determine where to properly inject. My wife felt more pressure than she had experienced with the Euflexxa. She felt okay after the injection and was able to walk out of the hospital. After six months the Synvisc One was still giving her significant relief! She was due for another injection. About two weeks ago she received her second single injection from the same effective medical professional. We feel fortunate in having a Physicians Assistant who knows how to properly inject the Synvisc One. She is really happy with the results! It gives us hope that she can avoid a TKR for some time to come!"

"This injection is only effective if you have mild arthritis. If you have almost no cartilage left it is useless. I wish I had known this before I tried this injection. I have moderate-severe arthritis and got a week or 2 of relief."

"I too, had a similar experience. My first injection given to lateral knee site with mild stiffness and pain. My second injection given to inner part of knee with severe stiffness and pain, this was Wednesday. I called the doctor to report my symptoms and he prescribed Toradol on Friday same week. I've been limping struggling to get around with minimal relief and the swelling and stiffness is still there. I also had a low grade fever. It's now Sunday and I will be calling my doctor on Monday. I wondered if it was because of the different location, but I don't know. I watched a video on the internet by a doctor explaining and performing the injection procedure. He said the injection needs to be given in a very precise area of knee laterally preferred."

"I have had two Synvisc-One injections over the last two years. Bone on bone and 73 years old. Both have given me much relief and have lasted about 4-5 mos. The injection was done with ultrasound. I was in a great deal of pain before this last injection. Will do it again. Doctor said Medicare will only pay every 6 mos."

"I had a Synvisc One injection to my shoulder after MRI noted limited cartilage remaining, some tears and arthritis. It was uncomfortable to painful for 7-10 days and since then has been extraordinary. I have no pain and minimal discomfort with movement. I used to wake in pain during the night, but I am no longer bothered at all. I have gone back to powerlifting and am able to bench press with no problems. It has been incredible and is still effective five months in."

"I had my first Synvisc-One injections in both knees 4 weeks ago. Had the recheck with the Ortho today. Pain improvement took 3 days. Some mild heat and swelling the day after but didn't last long. Injection site was a bit painful for about 3/4 days but completely tolerable. The Dr's projection is that I should get 6 months out of. These injections help me tremendously! My knees aren't 100% but never will be again anyway. My mobility and pain level improvement is easily 60% if not a bit more. I'm thrilled! Ortho specialist has recommended bicycle or eliptical as appropriate exercise. Very happy there has been this much improvement in such a short time!"

"Just had my first injection of Synvisc-One yesterday. I have a high tolerance for pain but it was terrible. So sad I did not read reviews. Doctor said it could not make me worse and believe me the Synvisc-One has made my knee worse. I have much more pain and swelling then before along with the stiffness and popping. It’s horrible. I will not get the remaining two shots."

"I am experiencing more pain 2 weeks post injection than I had prior to it. I have a great deal of stiffness. My knee is locked up and when walking will buckle under me. The injections are very painful, and the doctor must have irritated a nerve, because I'd have severe pain at the injection site from just brushing touch. Never, ever again!"

"After having a few cortisone shots and not much luck or longevity with them, my Dr asked me try the Synvisk 1and I was reluctant at first but when you have 100% bone on bone in one knee and 75% bone on bone in the other I was willing to try anything. I had to wait also to be approved by Wellness Blue Cross Blue Shield. It was finally approved and i had the shots in late July. I'm 49 yrs old and a bigger heavier man and I made my 15 yr old son come in to watch. It hurt like heck. My son was shocked to see me wincing in pain the entire time. It takes a little while to get it all in your knee as well. Then to my other knee I gripped the table and said my god nobody said they were this painful. Swelled up so bad for a week. Never helped me."

"2nd Shot of Synvisc in 8 months. I had worse knee pain and discomfort and develop severe muscle hip pain. A $1000 a shot!! I feel that originally I had minimal relief but feel that this drug is overrated. I had to have a Cortisone shot which gave me comfort and relief from severe pain and it was only $20! If need be I can get one every (3) months but most people will receive the injection every (6) months. A new drug is going to be released soon after it's trial and it is called Ampe. I am hoping that it will be successful. No one wants to get their knee replaced and it is a final result . . ."

"I just had my second shot today for Bone on bone and osteoarthritis . The first one lasted 5 months and I waited for 7 to get another one. It took awhile to work but by the end of the first month I could run through the airport with no problem. Around the 5th month it wore off but overall I’m happy with it I had cortisone for years until they started to effect me hormonally and couldn’t get any more. I’m putting off surgery as long as possible, hoping they have some new technologies available soon."

"I will never do Synvisc-One again. First injection got mild flu like symptoms. Some pain relief, a little better movement and some swelling for about 2 months. Six months later get second injection, got flu like symptoms again, only much worse along with swelling in my knee and no pain relief. Cortizone injections to help counteract the second injection only lasted about a month."

"I have bilateral knee osteoarthritis that responded well to cortisone, but after 3 courses, the relief only lasted 1 month. I chose synvisc-one (single injection) and just received my fourth dose. The previous injections lasted 6 months and they are a blessing! Yes, one dose has a lot of pressure, but you are done. I am one of the lucky ones who has virtually had no complications with any injections. I am back to playing pickleball after 48 hours! I strongly recommend synvisc-one when cortisone stops working; to delay surgery as long as possible."

"Had a scooter accident in Bali in 2011 landed my whole body weight on my right knee now I’ve been told I have Chondral degeneration So on 1/3/19 I had the synvisc-one injection done and the doc did a CT scan first but didn’t use an ultrasound guidance to inject. I’ve had the worst experience! This is worse than the accident I think! The pain has been horrendous I ended up on heavy steroids to reduce the fluid build up it was so bad I’m now pushing 5 weeks this Friday and still can’t walk for more than a few hours without it blowing my knee up again I finally thought I was getting better but still I’m suffering. I’ll never ever have another synvisc injection again Seeing knee specialist tomorrow to see if there’s something that can be done to help relieve the pain as I can’t tolerate anything more than anti inflammatories or panadol"

"The first two nights, I could sleep on my side without pain, but the third night I could not and the third and fourth mornings I woke up with sharp pain in both knees making it difficult to walk. This is actually worse than before I had the injections. Am I expecting too much? When can I expect the pain to go away or at least not be present with every step I take?"

"I have had OA for many, many years. Have bone on bone with one clean up 20 years ago. Yes, I need replacements but trying to hold off. I had cortisone and they lasted, maybe a month. Three weeks and one day ago, I had Synvisc1 injections. Yes, they hurt. Yes, the left knee was swelled and painful. But....I woke up this morning, three weeks and one day since my injections..wow!! The pain has been reduced immensely. I can't say how excited I am! Doctor suggested I have a cortisone booster in January...I can do that!!!! I've read comments that some shots lasted 6-9 months. I'll take that. I am a caregiver for my husband and now I have some relief!!!"

"Had one Synvisc-One injection a week ago in a knee that before the injection only hurt when walking up or down stairs. Immediately I had a stuffed nose, swollen tongue, never had headaches but now nausea and headaches. Worst of all my leg and veins hurt so badly all the time that I haven't had a quality day for a week and haven't slept because of the pain because nothing helps. Tried pain rubs creams, natural pain meds and no relief. I avoided stairs for five years and will gladly do it again if I can get this terrible experience out of my body. I give this a one and from the comments given I should have never taken this in the first place. Dishonest doctor !!!"
