"I have been using mononessa for about 2-3 years now never any problems aside from nausea and I fixed that by only taking the pill before going to bed. Even taking this at different times of the night I never had problems with spotting or anything at all. I just got switched to estarylla because walgreens doesn't have the mononessa for me anymore. I'm nervous about switching everytime I have switched pills something bad happens so I always revert back to monoessa. I guess we will see how this switch goes"

"I just switched from a different birth control brand that I was on for 2 months and switched to mononessa. The first 3 weeks of being on mononessa I had a lot of irregular bleeding. Now I'm taking my inactive pill and I am not bleeding at all. I am very frustrated. Since it is my first month I am going to give this new pill 1 more month and if I still have irregular bleeding then I am,switching. However, on a positive note, it has cleared up my acne and I am loving that."

"I've been on Mononessa for about 5 years now. I started the pill because of irregular periods and extra protection against pregnancy. The first two to three months my body was adjusting to the change which caused nausea and mood swings but afterwards I was back to normal. My appetite has gone up, my sex drive has gone down just a bit but not to the point where I was worried about it. I have clear skin and my periods are shorter and lighter. By far the best pill I have been."

"Mononessa has been the Worst birth control I have ever been on. I was on this pill for three days and thought I would die.Severe nausea, nightmares, mood swings, insomnia, headaches and chest pain. I stopped taking it after the third day. My body really does not like this birth control. I would not recommend this pill at all."

"This was my first birth control.I didn't experience any side effects except I do think that they affected my mood. I became a lot more emotional about a lot of things and people which I didn't think was possible since I was already pretty emotional. No acne, no bad cramps, no weird periods. Only switched because of an insurance issue."

"I've been on this birth control for almost a year. It started out great and my periods were regular and light. My breasts also got bigger, which was an advantage. Right away I noticed the biggest change in my lifestyle: my sex drive plummeted and I became extremely emotional. I went from having sex with my boyfriend every day to maybe once a week, and it so difficult for me to get turned on. I'll watch a commercial with a dog in it and cry, or sob uncontrollably when my boyfriend does something nice for me. It's ridiculous. I also gained a lot of weight since starting Mononessa, and always feel tired and foggy. It has been effective with preventing pregnancy, but is not the right birth control for me."

"I have been on this medication for 9 years straight. I was prescribed it when I was 18 and had been having awful cramps and nausea during my period, as well as it being irregular. Since I started this birth control I have only had minimal cramping and have never been sick from my period again. I did not feel any different when I started it and I have never experienced a negative side effect. I have nothing bad to say about this medication; all I have gotten from it is regulated, shorter and lighter periods, pregnancy prevention and bigger boobs. All great things in my opinion"

"I hate it so far. I'm not one to breakout and suddenly I have acne. These random pimples are on my back too! So depressing. My anxiety spiked, dizziness, and I feel at times I'm going to faint. Seeking new birth control asap."

"I have started this about a week ago, and so far its not been too bad! I did experience nausea if taken on an empty stomach. At the same time I would experience headaches and dizziness. I have not noticed wanting to eat more than usual, I have noticed not having much of an appetite anymore. Which is a bit odd because Im always down for food. I would DEFINITELY recommend to make your daily time to take the pill at night around dinner time. Its a little more convenient so you're not going to work or school having to deal with any side effects."

"I started to take Mononessa on the first day of my period and I bleed for 3 weeks, got really nauseous for a week and gained 3 pounds in 3 weeks. I had cramps during it all and my doc told me to the 800mg of ibuprofen 3x a day to stop the bleeding. It didn't work. I stopped the pill after the second week because on top of all sides affect, it made me feel apathetic. Now on the end of week 3 my bleeding has subsided and I feel back to normal again."

"The very first 3 days of taking Mononessa I always feel very nauseated. Mood swings aren't that bad. I crave a lot, breasts are always sore. Period's are pretty normal, cramps are kept to a minimum. I am sexually active and so far no pregnancy. I've noticed there's more vaginal discharge but my sex drive is pretty low. I told have as much acne. So far this pill has been going great for me. Side effects depend on the person."

"Been on mononessa for 3 months now. Starting on the first month, on day 3 of taking the pill I started having INTENSE migraines & also vomiting a lot every single day for about 2 weeks. I had another gf on this pill for 6 years & she told me after awhile you get used to it so I figured I'd give it a try. Month 2 of the pack came & again from day 3 for about 2 weeks I was so weak I couldn't leave my bed, my migraines got worse making my vision blurry and intense vomiting. Started month 3 yesterday & already throwing up so I'm stopping them now. Only positive I can say is that I had no spotting in between periods, my periods were the exact same light and fast, no weight gain. Girls be careful trying this one out."

"I've been on this birth control for 6 years now (I am 19). It has definitely decreased my cramps and pain as that was the original reason I was put on birth control. I work out often so I don't have to stop running anymore from pain. Now that I've become sexually active, my periods are always on time so I never worry. My mood is crazy but at the same time i have anxiety problems which I take a low dose of medication for and I went through middle school-currently college on this stuff so I think overall it's not the medication, it's me haha. I have always been very slender. I notice I always bloat and have a little belly that never seems to go away but it's not a big deal. IT CAN make you nauseous...but the trick is to eat a lot with it."

"I started this birth control about two months ago. My periods are light and quick. I also haven't gained any weight. I don't experience any side effects other than vaginal dryness and uncomfortable sex. I am married and sex is kind of important so I am thinking about switching."

"From the reviews, I think this pill gave me a more rough experience than others. The day after I switched pills I had a dull headache and slight nausea. It faded after a few hours and I didn't think about it again. Later that night, I experienced the nausea again and it quickly progressed to violent vomiting. Every time I took the pill, regardless of the fact that I'd taken it on a full stomach, I would get a debilitating headache and nausea. It felt like I had the flu. Today was the first day I haven't taken it (4 days in) and I feel great and was able to carry on my day as usual. I changed to this BC because my insurance covered it, but I'd rather pay for my old stuff that doesn't make me sick."

"So I have been taking it for almost a year now, I am thinking on switching. I have gained 20 pounds over the time I have taken it. Can't lose the weight either! My cravings are really bad, which also does not help the weight loss. I get super moody at times and I'm always tired. The first few months taking it, my sex drive plummeted. I didn't want my man to touch me, look at me, I was so moody. My acne before and after my period is horrendous. The only good thing about this medication is my period is lighter. I received this medication from a Planned Parenthood clinic, I will definitely be going to a GYN next month to change this."

"I absolutely would NOT recommend this unless it's a last resort thing. My first month I had to quit all of my new medications (I take Mirtazapine for anxiety and depression, Pantoprazole for recurring anxiety-induced gastritis, and my doctor and I have been testing new medications to possibly replace klonopin). I was SO sick I went to three different doctors over a course of two weeks who could find no other reason for my phantom illness, and I ended up hospitalized anyway after the constant vomiting caused a severe gastritis attack. I'm now on month two after taking a month to recover from being sick, only to find that I'm now experiencing the same symptoms. Extreme morning sickness lasting all day, no relief even with Zofran, very severe diarrhea, dehydration as a result, and more frequent gastritis attacks due to the rise in stomach acid. I will never take this poison again, you couldn't pay me to."

"I am 26 and have been on this birth control for 4 months. One of the main reasons I am on birth control is for acne this pill has cleared up my face. My periods are lighter and over all my mood is stable, a little more needy and cry a little more (con). And I have noticed I am darker skin tone since I've been on this pill (tan with out tanning, this is a plus and this is a listed side effect) no weight gain. The Cons- my hair on my head has thinned out alot and I have noticed more facial hair(some neck hairs and a noticeable mustache that weren't there b4 this pill), I even bought nioxin for my hair. My sex drive isn't horrible but it has decreased for sure. Switching pills."

"I went on this bc my period was so irregular and it was getting out of control. When I first went on this bc I threw up for the first 3 days and then after that I was fine. 2 weeks after I began my mood swings increased a lot, it was really unpredictable what my mood will be like. I've also been throwing up ever since I went on this bc. My appetite has decreased, I've gained weight, I always feel bloated, my mood is terrible and everything makes my stomach feel sick. I hate throwing up so this pill has been the worse to me. Definitely a waste of my time."

"This birth control seemed fine at first, but 10 days into it I started feeling not like myself--bad mood swings, feeling breathless or winded even when sitting, my blood pressure would spike for no reason, and I felt extremely sluggish. One day I even had mild heart attack symptoms. My body definitely did not react well to this medication."

"I was prescribed Mononessa to attempt to get my hormones back in check. As if I wasn't already feeling bad before...boy did this birth control make me feel even worse! Constant nausea, stomach pains, hot flashes, headaches, insomnia, weight gain, bloated, the only positive it gave me was a lighter period but it wasn't worth it with all the side affects. Stopped it today, and I can't wait to start feeling better again."

"I've been on this BC for 3 months now and so far it's not horrible- only a few bad things are.. I am extremely tired and not in the mood for sex! I have 2 young kids so being tired/lazy is not really an option. I was never like this and I was never not in the mood for sex. I also get a little dryness. On a good note, I do have short periods. The first month it was really light the second month was kind of heavy but short so I'm waiting to see how this third month goes. If nothing changes far as tiredness and not wanting sex, I'll switch. I currently do not pay for this BC because my insurance covers it 100% but I rather pay $5-$10 so I'm not always tired and wanting to have sex with my husband more."

"hey guys took this pill as a birth control option and I could not even last three days. Honestly I know I should have given it more time, but I know my body and the way I have felt has been extremely miserable. Nausea, headaches, aches, and depression. The site or smell of food made me so sick. I am not in a relationship, but was seeing this guy for 3 months and was having sex, but not on a frequent basis (we used condoms), so I feel this may best for girls who are really active. Our bodies are all different, but I have high stress levels as it is being a full time college student with work. Like I said we all are different, but I just could not handle the side effects. Hope it works for other girls, but as for me I am staying away for now!"

"I have been using this for a month now and do not recommend to those with body issues. (Little background.... I workout everyday (hard) and still have low self esteem. Despite low self esteem I am a very outgoing and calm person). For my 18th birthday I asked my mom if I could go on birth control before going to college next year. My weight before beginning was 114.4 pounds. Now, a month later, my weight is 124 and I practically cry myself to sleep every night because of it. I hate my body and I am so moody all the time and it’s because of THIS pill."
