"Beware of this birth control. At first I started off with the 1.5 Gildess fe and it was beautiful no breakouts or anything. Since I did well with that, my Doctor upgraded me to Gildess 1/20 and for the past 3 months I started it in March. I have been experiencing the worst side effects. Even with me not missing any pill and taking them at the right time. I feel like I'm pregnant and I'm not. It's to the point where I had taken 3 pregnancy test and they came out negative and is going to take another test since this medication is really making me think that and I just want to be sure. Talk to your doctor to see what birth control is the best for your body hormones."

"Let me say since starting this birth control I haven't had a period for 6 years, a little spotting here or there but nothing I was concerned about. I really liked it up in til now. This spring I have had a rash from the side of my temples behind my ears to around my throat. I have breast and nipple tenderness which hurts bad I have headaches more then usual. When my rash first happened I thought it was dermatitis so I went to the dermatologist which she proscribed me a higher dosage of hydrocortisone to try. Let's say it calmed it down but never went away. So I did a little more research on the web and found out it could be hormone imbalance from the birth control which totally made sense I looked up the side effects and it described me."

"I've been on birth control since I was 16 to help with my cramps and PMS. I'm 21 and recently switched to this birth control because of insurance coverage. I gained 20 pounds, extreme drowsy-ness, always tired, a lot of spotty and terrible acne which I've never had before. The estrogen levels are too high and I don't recommend this pill"

"I've been on this pill for about 6 months now. The first month, I bled almost nonstop and my hair seemed to be falling out a lot more than usual, but I stuck with it and now I have no side effects. I used to have seven day, extremely painful periods, but now I bleed for about 4 days per month and it is really light, which is wonderful!"

"So the pro is, it's prevented pregnancy and made me go up a cup size. Oh and my acne has cleared up. Cons: the first month went well. I'm on month 3 of takin it and let me tell you... I've been bleeding/spotting for about 34 days now. It's annoying. And when I start spotting heavily, I get severe cramping. It's interfered with my sex life and moods. I do get mood swings but I'm thinking it's because I am so tired of bleeding. I've gained about 5 pounds, which isn't too bad for switching birth control."

"Gildess is my first ever birth control pills. Pro: didn't get pregnant Cons: 1. I've been getting my period every 1.5-2 weeks! And when I'm not on my period I get bad yeast infections, regardless of me taking probiotics to prevent that from happening. I have no sex life because of that (how ironic). I've been very emotional to the point of not recognizing my own behavior. My skin became very sensitive, I'm always getting rashes and irritations. It's been 2 months, I'm waiting one more miserable month and then will try to switch."

"I've been on this pill for over a year, I've never had any problems with it in the beginning except a little spotting in between periods and headaches at first. Now I absolutely hate it and am thinking about not taking it anymore because all of the sudden my periods are starting to mess up and I don't like that at all. This pill has also made me gain like 15lbs."

"I was prescribed this birth control at a local health clinic. I've been on it for 2 weeks. I've been on birth control since I was 20. I'm currently 24 and this is my first time using this kind. I am not one to write reviews for anything! I feel like I really had to share my experience with this particular issue. How do I say it sucks kindly? Ever since I used this birth control I've been so emotional. I'm not normally an emotional person. This birth control makes me so needy and sad. My boyfriend even told me he thinks something weird is going on with me. I went back to the health clinic to see if I could get a different kind. They said starting a new birth control will effect me in some sort of way and that I should wait it out for 3 mo."

"I hated this birth control due to the lack of libido, vaginal dryness (during sex), and PERSISTENT YEAST INFECTIONS. The pill also caused me to feel slightly depressed. I gave it 2 stars because it did make my skin look AMAZING! I used the pill for six months and after six months with yeast infections I got off of it. I could not have sex with a yeast infection so the pill became essentially useless. All side effects ceased as soon as stopping this pill."

"I've been on this BC for 2 months now Anytime I eat I throw up about 30 mins later. It also has given me very bad acne. I used to not have any and now I get cystic pimples on the regular. For the first month it made me feel crazy because I was having mood swings but that got better. But I am switching BC now because I can't take the throwing up. I know that it could be great from someone but it wasn't for me."

"I was on this for 6 months and it was awful. I had the worst mood swings. Then they switched me into Junel Fe for another 6 months. It was just as bad. I had acne. Awful moods. And I understand everyone is different. But for me. It was just awful."

"i started taking this birth control 4 months ago. I immediately developed acne all over my face, gained 20 pounds over the course of 2 months, suffered from debilitating cramps, and experienced intense mood swings. I do not recommend this birth control for anyone who is estrogen dominant."

"It's the only birth control I've taken recommended by my doctor. No signs of acne or weight gain however I did start getting really bad migraines before my period and during my period. When I get a migraine I know my period is on its way. That's the only downside. My boyfriend does finish in me however I'm extra careful. I take my pills at the same time everyday and I've never missed a pill in 1 year. Being a college student it can be stressful and hard to remember but that's why I have an alarm as well just in case :)"

"I have been on this birth control for two weeks. I had a Mirena IUD for 3 years, and I had it removed because I had low sex drive, pain from ovarian cysts, and I was getting frequent migraines. I was switched to Seasonique generic, Ashlyna, but it made me very nauseous and VERY hungry. I gained about 6 pounds in the first week. Since then, I was switched to Gildess and I am back down 6 pounds and feeling better. The only thing I noticed is that I did develop a large boil on my chin for the first few days, and I am unusually tired. I have spotted for about 10 days, and my breasts are a little sore maybe swollen. I have to be on birth control because I have severe endometriosis that has been removed twice. Anyone have a similar experience?"

"We moved to a new air base and the horrible doctors here refuse to let me have my Minastrin 24 Fe that I was on for TWO YEARS. Those two years were spent on cloud 9 compared to the 7 months on this garbage. On Minastrin I lost 45 pounds, clear skin like never before, good sex drive, not an emotional hurricane, and never got car sick. In 7 months alone on gildess I gained 25 pounds and counting(even with a healthy lifestyle), suffering depression and anxiety, NO sex drive, periods are HORRID, face has exploded more than going through puberty and I am 21, and taking this makes me sick. It's a good thing my husband and I don't want a baby because with the weight gain, break outs and no sex drive-it won't happen while taking this trash pill."

"I have racked my brain trying to remember the name of this birth control. Sad it is discontinued. My favorite out of five brands I have tried. Made me lose 5lbs/mo without changing anything in my life style, i never got pregnant and I never had acne."

"I was prescribed Gildess after being diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome to help control my hormones. After about 2 weeks, my migraines started to increase in frequency and severity. Several calls to my OB, and I was advised to continue to take the med for at least 3 months. A month and a half into taking the medication, I woke one night with sharp pain while breathing and in my right shoulder. I thought I pulled something or bruised a rib, so I kind of just rested and relaxed for the weekend with no real relief. Monday morning rolls around and I started to have pain radiate from my right shoulder across my chest towards the left, so I went to the ER. Lo and behold, I ended up with Bilateral pulmonary embolisms!"

"I started taking this for birth control. I have been on it for 1.5 months, and I have no issues with it now. The first couple of weeks were rough as far as mood swings/over-emotional responses to things. I was also slightly nauseous at times for the first week, but nothing unbearable or that would make me stop taking it. I still got a little emotional starting back up, after my placebo week, but not as bad and it went away after a couple of days. My period was much lighter than usual, which was very nice. Overall, I haven't had a bad experience and my side effects were what I expected for starting any birth control. No major issues, I'm pretty happy with it so far."

"I had been taking this BC for about three months. I always bled before the fourth week. Each month bleeding earlier than the month before. Didn't gain weight. Did not break out as bad as the first BC I was previously on (Sprintec). Then out of no where, MOOD SWINGS. & when I say mood swings, I'm talking a full 180. One minute things would be fine, then the next, I'm crying & ready to cut off the head the person closest to me. Today I started Xulane. I'm hoping that this will not make me gain weight, break out, or cramp like a lot of the reviews have stated. Hopefully no more mood swings! best part about these pills, I DID NOT GET PREGNANT."

"I just finished my first pack and didn't have a pleasant experience on this pill. My period typically comes around every 3 months and lasts for about 5 days, but I bled the entire time I was on this medication. I also never typically have cramps, but boy did I have cramps. I also didn't have a problem with acne until I started this pill."

"I have been taking this medication a little over 7 months now. I take it so I don't have to get my period. I used to get awful period pains and now I have absolutely none! I used to struggle with acne and was worried it might make me break out, but if anything it made my skin clearer. Also my breasts went up a size and haven't gained weight anywhere else so far. When I first started I dealt with a little breakthrough bleeding but that went away after a week or two. So for me personally I have had a really good experience with it. I would recommend trying it, BUT if you feel depressed or get bad side effects like others on it, I would try something new right away. It's just about finding the right birth control for your body"

"If I could give this birth control a 0 I would. I have been taking it for about 5 months and I've been on my period probably half of those 5 months. Please tell me what is the point in even being on birth control if you are bleeding all the time. No one wants to have sex when your bleeding ever single day. Also this month I havnt gotten a period, thanks birth control. Also, I've been so bloated all the time & get sick if I don't take my pill with food."

"As a first-time BC user, I feel Gildess is a good choice. Almost a year on it, no babies, and the only major issue is the few but annoying breakouts. Getting used to it was an emotional adventure but no major weight gain and my libido has even increased! I would take this pill over any non-combination pill and feel very lucky that starting with it was not too bad. Everyone's body is different but this is a good pill if it is a suitable match for you."
