For Birth Control "Was on various birth control pills, the last one being Loestrin. Very moody, 15 lb. weight gain, acne (I NEVER break out). I've been on Generess for about 4 months, and it has been great. I actually LOST weight, my skin is back to being clear, and my mood swings are very mild. Besides mild breakthrough spotting at times, I have been very pleased with the results of this birth control."

For Birth Control "I've been on this for almost 3 months now, it's the first birth control pill I've taken. My periods are crazy short, only about 3-4 days, and it's very light bleeding. I don't have cramps, but I am VERY moody. I cry and get mad over insignificant things. My breasts have swollen a little bit. It hasn't affected my weight much at all. One thing I don't like is the mint flavor. After two months, it gets really annoying, and it starts to taste bad. The first day I took it, I got nauseous, but that was it. I've also experienced an increased sex drive, not decreased."

For Birth Control "I only took this medication for two weeks and had to stop. Right away, I noticed moodiness and depression worse than anything I've ever taken. Had a very heavy and long period with cramps and nausea. After the period stopped, three days later, started bleeding heavily again."

For Birth Control "Been on this for a little over a year. Experienced some moodiness and depression the first few months. Didn't feel myself. This is just what happens when the body gets used to the hormones. Periods went from painful, heavy, and 7-8 days to light, less painful, and approximately 3 days. No pregnancies or even scares. Mild weight gain (maybe 5 lbs - probably just normal from eating anyway). No problems with acne. Does what it should - prevents pregnancy and lightens periods/makes them less painful. Chewable and decent tasting as well."

For Birth Control "I was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo for about 2.5 years and never realized that that was what was giving me the craziest mood swings. I went on Loestrin 24 Fe. At first, I was happy with it, then came the almost complete loss of sex drive. I also became very moody and snappy for no reason at all. My doctor called and said they were discontinuing my Loestrin and putting me on a 'chewable' pill. I was not happy about that at first. The pill tastes like a little mint, which I actually really like now. On top of that, I am in such a great mood, even when I probably shouldn't be. No mood swings, and my sex drive is back 100%! My breasts seem a tad fuller, but nothing crazy. Also, no weight gain. I love it!"

For Birth Control "I was on this birth control for about 4 years and stopped roughly four months ago. I feel 1,000 times better being off birth control. As for effectiveness, this pill gets an A+. I missed pills often and skipped days (terrible, I know), and never got pregnant. However, the side effects were eventually unbearable for me. I have always been an anxious person, but on this birth control, my anxiety was amplified. I would wake up 1-2 times a month in the middle of the night with my heart racing and would feel extremely nauseous. I had a headache for about two weeks after starting a new pack and would get a horrible headache if I skipped a pill. I had horrible nausea while on this pill also. I was very moody on the pill and felt an inexplicable rage occasionally that I could not control. Overall, I feel much, much better with no birth control. The side effects make it not worth it to me - 4 months later, all side effects are gone."

For Birth Control "I have been on this pill for a while now, and I've had no terrible experiences. I was put on it to control my period, which was nonstop for three months, and now I'm barely having a period when I take the inactive pills. It's very effective and easy to take. On occasion, I've experienced spotting or irregular periods because I've forgotten to take it once or twice. I've had no nausea, and I had some mood issues, but that went away for me within the first three months. It took my body about three months to adapt to the pill completely, so it takes a while, but it works very well."

For Birth Control "I was on this medication for 3 months and didn't have a great experience with this one. For the first two weeks, I was extremely nauseous, once that died down, my breasts were sore and grew from a small B to a full C. At that time, my sex drive dramatically decreased, and I became very moody, which never really stopped. Starting a different birth control at the end of this cycle, and I am very relieved. I am giving it a two because it did prevent pregnancy and made my periods regular."

For Birth Control "I got a 3 months of a free sample. But, I only used 1 month. The first week was great. Then I started the second week and started spotting. I spotted every day till about the end of the pack. My moods were terrible. By the third week, I was arguing with my boyfriend, which felt like constantly. He told me it was like I was on my period mood-wise that whole month. I'm not taking it anymore."

For Birth Control "I started taking the pill a little over a month ago, and it still makes me feel so nauseous. I bled for a full month, and it was heavy some days and light others, but the doctor said that was normal. I don't want to stop taking it because I'm getting married in two months, so I'm pushing through the horribleness of it and hoping the nausea goes away eventually. Oh, and it makes me so moody too!"

For Birth Control "This is the first birth control I've tried, I have taken it for a month and a half. The first 2-3 days, I had terrible headaches, which went away but came back during the placebo pills. I have a history of migraines, but only with light/noise sensitivity, no aura. Took Maxalt for the headaches, it helped. Bust got slightly bigger, gained a little weight, but I was very stressed out and ate trash, so not necessarily the medication. My skin was about the same, broke out slightly, but I wasn't sleeping or eating vegetables. Extremely moody/meltdowns during the placebo days, but I think that is my personal reaction to the hormones. I had a similar experience before, where the body chemicals made my emotions crash. No nausea, no vomiting, etc. During the placebo days, I did not get my period/breakthrough bleeding, but now that I am stopping the medication [for unrelated reasons], I suddenly have a tiny bit of spotting."

For Birth Control "I was on Generess Fe for almost a year. PROS: I like the pouch it comes in and the slightly minty taste. I liked that it regulated my period as I am one who sadly suffers from PCOS. CONS: made me very moody/emotional; increased hair growth around chest and stomach areas; increased appetite and weight gain. It was my first BCP, and I was too scared to switch over to another pill because I figured I'd rather learn to deal with the mood swings than risk a different BCP with worse side effects. I don't recommend doing that. I think it's good to give a pill a couple of months' shot to allow the body to get used to it, but after that, if you have really clear negative effects, then switch to another."

For Birth Control "I'm 20 years old, and this is the first birth control I've ever been on. I'm in my 3rd pack, and so far, I haven't had any serious side effects. When I first started, my appetite was out of whack, and I couldn't really eat, and I was really moody. But halfway through the first pack, that subsided, and I was fine. I never had a real problem with having a heavy/irregular period, but when first going on this, I got my period twice a month for the first 2 months, but they are very light, short, and manageable. Not sure if I gained any weight because I don't weigh myself often, and I don't think I've seen a real change in my body. I just changed my diet and exercise regimen (as in I'm actually exercising and eating better), so hopefully, I'll see results!"
