"This medication was a bit of a struggle for me... for one reason: SPOTTING. Like, alot. Within the first month I spotted for two weeks, then it subsided for about a week. Then I spotted for another two weeks, and this just kept happening. Finally, into the fourth pack I noticed I hadn't spotted in a while and was very happy. I decided to start running for about twenty minutes every day to get some exercise. Unfortunately, I began spotting heavily during my first run. From then on I have been spotting every time I run. I am now going to switch birth control pills. Other than the issue I had with spotting, this pill is pretty good. I did not gain any weight on this pill, however my breasts did go up a size."

"I started taking Generess in 2011, when I was 15. I was originally prescribed this for major dysmenorrhea that would always interfere with school and normal life. When I first started taking it, I had terrible anxiety and nausea. I'm sure me being 15 and in the throws of puberty didn't help the matter. Anyways, that levelled out, and the worst thing that would happen was I would spot if I took the pill late. Now that I'm older and I've been on it so long, I'm not sure it is right for me anymore. My periods are getting heavy again and it has started affecting my mood again. I've had tests done so it isn't an underlying health problem, so I just think it's time to switch to something else. Overall though, I would recommend this."

"I starting taking this birth control because it allowed you to still have a period every month. Previously, I had been on a BC that only allowed a period every 2 months and I don't think my body liked that. However, I stop taking Generess and got an IUD. After I stopped using Generes, I have had the worst cystic acne on my face and body. I have been off of the pill for over a year and I still have terrible acne problems. It has gotten better over time, but it is still bad. I wish I would of never been prescribed this pill."

"I switched from Microgestin to Generess Fe last month. I no longer have extreme mood swings, no more painful cramps, and I can't believe it! The only side effect for me is weight gain, which is actually a good thing for me because I'm very active."

"I am almost done with the first pack (I am on the brown pills) and can honestly say I am not sure if I am even going to wait to see if it helps my cramps, which is the whole reason I got on birth control in the first place. I gained 5 pounds in 3 weeks by doing nothing differently. My waist has completely changed. I gained fat on my love handles and I have not been eating or exercising any differently. I went from 116lbs to 121lbs. I have never hit over 120lbs in my life. I was 121lbs waking up so it's not like I was full from food or something. Also, my breasts are really sensitive. The upside to this birth control is that the pills are chewable. Also, I tried Aviane in the past and all I could do was vomit the first day I took it. No nausea with this."

"I've been taking Generess Fe for a few months now and I haven't had any side effects! It's been working pretty good because my periods are lighter than before and last about 3 days. The only thing I've noticed is that I have cramps now before my period which I didn't have before. After hearing all these scary comments about Generess I was scared to even give it a try, but I'm glad I did because it's been working! Also, If you don't have insurance this medicine is pretty expensive so I'd check into that if not."

"Periods became lighter within the first month, which was great because mine were very painful before. The one problem was the first time I took it. I felt far more depressed than ever before. But this was only temporary; it took about one week to adjust psychologically. Be sure to take with a good sized meal! Other than that, very slight weight gain and no spotting. Always take the brown pills too; they contain the mineral iron which women need a lot of."

"This is the first birth control I've tried, have taken it for a month and a half. First 2-3 days I had terrible headaches, which went away but came back during the placebo pills. I have a history of migraines, but only with light/noise sensitivity, no aura. Took Maxalt for the headaches, helped. Bust got slightly bigger, gained a little weight but I was very stressed out and ate trash, so not necessarily the medication. My skin was about the same, broke out slightly but I wasn't sleeping or eating vegetables. Extremely moody/meltdowns during the placebo days, but I think that is my personal reaction to the hormones, I had a similar experience before where the body chemicals made my emotions crash. No nausea, no vomiting, etc. During the placebo days, I did not get my period/breakthrough bleeding, but now that I am stopping the medication [for unrelated reasons] I suddenly have a tiny bit of spotting."

"I've been taking Generess Fe for a little over six months now. I am very pleased with the pill and have not experienced any nausea, weight gain, or break outs. I had acne before but after I started taking the pill it cleared up a lot. So far I have had a shorter and lighter period with much less cramping. I did have spotting in between periods the first couple months but that has stopped now. I'm a little freaked out because my period is a lot lighter this month than it has been in the past but from the reviews that I read other people on this pill experience extremely light periods too, or no periods at all. I cannot say how well the pill works for preventing pregnancy though because I use other forms of protection too."

"I took this as directed on the first day of my period, and my normal cycle I have three days of light bleeding, and a day, maybe two of heavy bleeding with one day of cramping, then a few more days of light bleeding. With these pills, I could not even finish one month because I have been bleeding for over two weeks. I've had cramps for three days straight and a fever. 24 hours after stopping the pills I am back to normal. I used to take the Genesis FE years ago and never had issues. It is not worth a lighter period to have issues like I did."

"I've been taking this pill for about a month and a half now. I've gotten 3 periods within these past couple of weeks! It's very uncomfortable. Also I've been very emotional like the other girl said all "cry baby like". My mood swings are crazy. I've gained 5 pounds. But I am baby free."

"I've been on Generess Fe now for over two years, and I am switching to a different birth control. The main reason I'm switching is because my sex drive is virtually non-existent, and my Dr. said that is because the Generess levels you out (because it is super low in estrogen), so you don't get the "highs" you would get with some other BC pills or without BC. Also, it is not covered by most insurance because it is a chewable (I've paid about $25/mo, which is not as fun as free). And I feel like it gives me uncontrollable breakouts -- I also looked into this and a lack of estrogen causes your skin to produce more oil, which causes breakouts. On the plus side, I haven't had a period in over a year! Time to switch for me."

"I am almost done my second pack and I love this medication. I didn't get depressed or nausea like a lot of other reviews. I am seeing a little weight gain, however my breasts have started at a C and are now a D. I think I am switching off of this though simply due to cost per month."

"I've been on this birth control for a little over three years. I started taking it after painful periods. I probably have gained 15 pounds since I started taking it but I'm also 3 years older and glad I don't look like a teenager anymore. In the beginning I took the brown placebos but I stopped and just go from one pack to the next without taking them so I haven't had a period for awhile. I'll have my mood swings sometimes but I had those before being on bc. Other than that I love it."

"This pill works great, I've been taking it for months however I am now starting to feel really intense cramping and bleeding. It's been four days now, and every time I wake up it's so painful. All in all I think it's great, just make sure you don't ever miss a pill you have to get into the habit of taking them and remembering to bring them with you when you go places overnight, you should pick up on the routine quickly though."

"I started this birth control after getting into a serious relationship with my current boyfriend. The first month, my breast were so sore and tender I could barely touch them but they did get bigger! My periods became really light (very happy about) and lasted like 3 days and I only had to use a panty liner! The down side is I'm gaining weight for no reason! I'm not eating bad and I've been exercising more and I'm still putting on weight! I'm changing birth control to MicroGestin Fe."

"I was on generess FE for almost a year. PROS: I like the pouch it comes in and the slightly minty taste. I liked that it regulated my period as I am one who sadly suffers from PCOS. CONS: made me very moody/emotional; increased hair growth around chest and stomach areas; increased appetite and weight gain. It was my first bcp and I was too scared to switch over to another pill because I figured I rather learn to deal with the mood swings than risk a different bcp with worse side effects. I don't recommend doing that. I think it's good to give a pill a couple of months shot to allow the body to get used to it but after that, if you have really clear negative effects then switch to another."

"I feel like a 12-yr old while on this pill. I'm hungry and irritable and I've bled through for 2 months now. The bleeding hits me exactly half way through the pill cycle and on a Wednesday. I'm tired of having 2 periods a month and al the symptoms that come with it. I'm calling my OB on Monday to switch."

"This was the first birth control pill I tried. I went to my OBGYN with concerns about serious period irregularity. They just threw the pill at me. Within the first month I gained almost 10 pounds. I did have a slight appetite increase but I know most of it was because of this pill. At the time I didn't realize it but once I stopped I realized that I had been acting different on it. And I was also depressed a lot which isn't normal for me. I stayed on this brand for a few months then ultimately switched. As soon as I switched to a different forumla I lost the 10 pounds I gained in just 2 weeks, and I wasn't eating any different. It was crazy. overall, did its job. It regulated my periods and I never got pregnant. But side effects sucked."

"I started Generess Fe October 30th, 2012. For the first 4-5 months I had irregular spotting, sometimes that went on for 6-7 days! I gained 14 pounds in 5 months with no diet change. The good thing about it is that since April I have not bled..at all. Not one drop. I no longer experience PMS or periods so that is really nice. I am thinking about coming off to see if I lose the weight I gained and if I do I want a different pill. I use this pill to prevent pregnancy, no other conditions."

"I like this pill but, I rarely get any side affects. The taste is terrible to me though... its like a terrible mint flavor to me. Your period blood might be brown, mine was, its just my little warning. The first couple of times I thought it was early stages of pregnancy but that is a side effect that is important! You blood being brown is not bad its just old blood. I usually get a day of brown stuff and then red the rest of the way through. My period also ends quicker thank God . Pain wise I used to have terrible cramps to the point I would throw up it was so bad I had to stay home from school. During my period now I would get cramps but not as bad as before and just nausea."

"I'm on Mylans generic version of Generess Fe and so far its been okay. I've been on 4 different birth controls in the past year and a half and I was put on this one to try to eliminate a cyst I've had since November. While I can say the cyst pain had gone away I have now noticed that I get extremely nauseous on this pill. I'm sure it's just my body adjusting but I feel terrible. I take the pill at 9 every night so I think I have to make sure that I don't have an empty stomach when I take it. This pill has also made me break out a bit but hopefully that will go away in the next few months."

"I've been on this pill for 3 months. I had switched because I had been on the same pill for 6 years prior. I've always had terrible cramps, but thought that was normal and I had to deal with it. Once on this pill, not only did my cramps get even worse, my breast were so tender I could barely put a bra on. However, everybody is very different and can experience different side effects. Although I'll be switching pills again, it is worth the trial to see if it may work for you."

"I was only on this birth control for a day and almost fainted. I took it with plenty of food but after about 6 hours I started sweating really bad, my vision started going, and couldn't hear anything. Was really scary. I'm now on Provera 10 mg twice a day for heavy bleeding - it hasn't affected me at all and has actually put me in a better mood than usual."

"I started taking Generess Fe after only having a week of Beyaz and feeling completely terribly crappy. After have such a bad experience with the week of Beyaz, the first week of Generess Fe was like a walk in the park. I couldn't even tell I had taken the pill. Its odd that it is chewable, but taste fine. So far I am very pleased."
