For Birth Control "I would give the birth control patch a 10, only because I was previously on Depo for 6 months, and I was bleeding the whole entire time. My doctors decided to switch me over to the birth control pills that didn't help, so I decided to get on the patch. Within 3 days, my bleeding and spotting ended. Yeah, I experience some side effects such as back pain and nausea, but it doesn't last a long time, and it's bearable."

For Birth Control "I have three things to recommend Xulane, and they do not outweigh the cons of this birth control. First, the positives: it did a good job preventing pregnancy, I loved not having to remember a pill every day, and I had the most beautiful skin of my life on this drug. But the negative side effects far outweighed the positive. First, I started wearing this patch on my back and it gave me terrible dry skin and rashes (this went away when I switched to my arm). Second, the mood swings are so bad. I felt everything SO STRONGLY, and it usually manifested with tears. I'd swing from sad to happy to angry all day long. Third, this medication made me very hungry all the time, and I gained weight during the four months I used it."

For Birth Control "I really like this patch. It took about 4 months for my period to be normal because I would have spotting in between. Now I just have my regular period on the patch-free week. I noticed less cystic breakouts. No weight gain/loss or drop in sex drive. I definitely cry a lot more about random things. There is a sticky dark residue after you peel it off due to lint and stuff. Just peel it off before you shower and scrub the residue off. I prefer to place the patch on the left or right of my stomach just because I feel it's more secure and less likely to peek out. I never tried Ortho Evra because it is no longer offered, so I can't compare. Overall, this patch really works for me, and I recommend you give it a try for at least 6 months."

For Birth Control "I started Xulane about a year ago, and while it did its job for the birth control aspect of it, it made me suffer in my relationship, as I NEVER wanted to have sex. My libido was shot, and my body's natural lubrication system was gone. The thought of sex to me was appalling, which is a complete 180 of what I was like. If I wasn’t in a relationship, then I guess that would be okay, but I am, and we suffered because of that. I have been off Xulane for 2 weeks and feel so much better. It caused me to have constant mood swings and just never feel “right.” I am switching back to the pill, as it has less hormones, and hopefully, things will get better from here on out. I gave it a decent rating as it does prevent pregnancy (if you ever want to have sex lol)."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on the patch for a little over a month now. After failed attempts with almost every option of birth control, I was given the final choices of NuvaRing or the patch, so I chose the patch. I will keep the rating high because it is really easy to remember and is much better than some side effects I’ve had on other forms of birth control. The biggest drawback for me is the nausea and vomiting, which I didn’t realize how common these were until reading the reviews here. Some days the nausea is so debilitating, I can barely get off the couch, and I have a 1-year-old to take care of, so it definitely isn’t ideal. I also am experiencing pretty bad, frequent cramping as if I am on my period, even with a patch on. I will hold out for my trial period, however, and hope it gets better, like lots of women here report, especially since I am virtually out of BC options. Women really need more options of birth control available to them."

For Birth Control "I don't like Xulane. How do other girls' patches not fall off after they shower?!?! I can’t just only shower once a week. And I have to replace it after every time I shower? I don’t know how anyone likes this product. I gave it a 2 because it’s a great idea that we only need to change it once a week instead of taking a pill every day, maybe work on making it more waterproof, and it’ll be the new go-to for girls."

For Birth Control "I’m currently recovering from a life-threatening illness this product chose not to share with us. The patch and the ring are more likely to give even the healthiest, youngest of women BLOOD CLOTS. Nobody warned me about this. I had just been released from the hospital, lucky to be alive, and being told less than 24 hours later I would have passed away BECAUSE OF MY BIRTH CONTROL. I have blood clots within my entire left leg and blood clots within my lungs. I feel lies told by not only this company but by my doctors as well because nobody warned me how likely I’m able to get a clot from THIS specific birth control. Take this garbage off the market and stop claiming lives. Do your research, you’ll see the damage this specific product, as well as other birth controls, have done."

For Birth Control "This Xulane patch caused issues because whoever makes it sucks at quality control. I’ve gotten multiple patches that aren’t as sticky as they should be, and they’re not expired and have never been opened. I can’t just go to the pharmacy to replace them whenever this happens. This Sunday was the last straw, I’m getting an IUD. I went to change my patch and the new patch wasn’t sticky at all, it came off immediately. I had nothing on my skin. I opened the only other patch I have, and the same thing, so I’m done. It also made my cramps more painful and last much longer, and it gave me major headaches, sometimes migraines. I didn’t gain weight, but sometimes the patch would itch to the point where I’d accidentally scratch myself to bleeding."

For Birth Control "So I've been on this patch for about 3 1/2 weeks, and I took it off to have my period a couple of days ago, and I've had nothing but horrible anxiety. My body is so shaky, and I thought it might just be my normal anxiety, but this is the only change in my daily schedule, so it's definitely the patch messing with me. And I really like it too, but I cannot deal with how I feel. Any other recommendations would be wonderful."

For Birth Control "I started Xulane a couple of months ago. I immediately started to get the worst headaches, nausea, gained lots of weight, and my boobs grew significantly in size and are sore constantly. I’ve been on my period for 40 days with heavy flow and unbearable back pain and cramps. Some days I can’t even get out of bed without taking large amounts of pain medication."

For Birth Control "So I went to my OB on Monday for my yearly checkup, asked to get on the patch contraceptive! Thinking it won’t be as bad because I was not ingesting it, whereas before I took the pill, it was bad reactions! So she told me I was going to spot for Monday because she did the test! Well, it’s Wednesday, and I’m still spotting. Little did I know this can do that! Monday night, I felt off, I’m like, new meds, gotta get used to it. Tuesday came, and the nausea started slowly creeping in, so I’m like, okay, then the nervousness started, so I took my anxiety meds. Helped a little. Today I woke up after sleeping 6-9 hours, exhausted, nausea, headache, boobs hurting, so by mid-afternoon I was feeling better. By 7 PM, I thought I was dying, felt like I had a fever and sweating, and just couldn’t handle it! After reading up on it, I took it off. I cannot go on for the next 1-3 months like this, so if you have a sensitivity to medications or have had troubles with birth control, I do not recommend this at all."

For Birth Control "Xulane was fine for the first day. My sex drive was up, but nothing too bad. The next morning, I was vomiting for 4 hours. I ripped the patch off and started to slowly feel better. I wouldn’t recommend this at all. I was nauseous throughout the night but wasn’t too surprised. When I woke up, I immediately needed to throw up and couldn’t even leave my bathroom."

For Birth Control "I love this birth control. I got no acne on this, and it made my boobs grow a full cup size, no lie. The only thing I didn't like was I kept getting scared that it would fall off, but what I do is when I switch it, I put the new one on where the old one was, so it's extra sticky (don't do this if your skin gets irritated or red). But yeah, I'm switching back cause I miss it, and no pill I've tried made my skin as clear as Xulane does, lol!"

For Birth Control "I have been on this almost 4 years, but I do not remember any side effects when I switched over from a pill. I have had acne since I was 12, but now I get maybe one pimple when I'm on my off week. I have not experienced weight gain that I attribute to the patch. My main complaint is my libido does not exist anymore, and sometimes I get moody, but I feel like that is normal for women. I personally have had a great experience with it and am thankful that it has been free for me! The application area is itchy sometimes, but it's not a huge inconvenience."

For Birth Control "At first, like most people say, the symptoms were terrible. Abdominal and back pain, slight nausea, mood swings, general foggy feeling in my brain. After a couple of days, the symptoms decreased, and now all I experience is some mood instability the day I replace my patch. I've never had a problem with it falling off, though it does tend to get fuzzy around the edges from your clothes. It does kind of kill your sex drive at first, but I feel like I'm back to normal now. Hooray for regular periods and no babies!"

For Birth Control "Would not recommend. My doctor put me on the patch because I had a hard time remembering to take the pill to help control my recurring ovarian cysts. I am now in the hospital with severe blood clots from my belly button to just below my knee in my vein. My leg is swollen, and I am in horrible pain after 9 days in the hospital so far. I would recommend NOT using this patch!"

For Birth Control "I used to take Ortho Evra when I was younger and was completely fine on it. I thought I would have a similar experience on Xulane. I ended up with severe mood swings, depression, and anxiety, to the point of crying every day for weeks. I had low libido, was tired all the time, my vision became blurry, I lost my appetite, I had severe headaches, and loss of balance. I’d wake up in the middle of the night from sweating so much. I tried to let my body get used to the high amount of hormones in this product, but I couldn’t take it anymore. I didn’t feel like myself, and it was affecting my marriage. I am now making an appointment with my doctor to see what other options are out there. I’m happy this drug has worked for some of you ladies, but I would be careful if it starts affecting your mental health like it did mine. I feel relieved not being on it anymore."

For Birth Control "I have been using the patch for just under 6 months now, and I love it! I like it so much more than the pill. Easier to remember, and I just feel so much more protected. Something that I found interesting was I tried 3 different pills and had bad side effects with all of them. I haven't had one single issue since I've switched to the patch. I highly recommend!!!!"

For Birth Control "I’ve been on Xulane for 3 years. Xulane has high estrogen levels, so when I first started, I lightly bled for about a month, and after that, my period has always been regular. It helped so much with my acne. I have realized one period will be a light flow with bad cramps, and the next will be heavy with no cramps. I am more emotional and moody. I get depressed once in a while, but I have good support people around me, so it’s nothing but a lay-in-bed day. Just recently, after a few days of wearing a new week's patch, where the patch is will get itchy and red randomly, like an allergic reaction, and I’m not sure why. I saw someone else saying the same thing. But other than that, 10/10 on preventing pregnancy."

For Birth Control "I was using Ortho Evra for 11 years, and I absolutely loved it. I had no complications at all. When it was discontinued, my doctor prescribed Xulane. The first month was fine, then the following month I bled for 2 months straight with ache, pain, fatigue, and severe cramping. I never had cramping or any problem prior to taking this contraceptive. Every week when I apply the patch, I started spotting and became fatigued with cramping. After about 8 months, I applied it, and there was no spotting, so I thought finally it started working. Well, I couldn't be more wrong. I was pregnant, yes, pregnant. Still in disbelief. I absolutely hate Xulane."

For Birth Control "I was so scared to try Xulane because of all the side effects I was reading about, but since being on it I’ve gotten almost none. I’m on my second month using the patch, and I only feel slightly nauseous sometimes, and I’ve actually lost some weight. It does get a little itchy sometimes, but all the “side effects” I get are totally bearable."

For Birth Control "5 years ago, I started on Ortho Tri-Cyclen, and it worked out well until I got to college. Went through all the stress, emotions, and long story short, it made me crazy. Then, I tried the birth control shot for 9 months. Went great the first round, then started losing a bunch of weight, having my periods for a full 2 months at a time, and it made me anemic, and you guessed it-CRAZY. So I quit birth control altogether about 7 months ago. In those 7 months, I’ve had my period every day, along with heavy bleeding. Talked to my gyno, and since I’m busy with school and 2 jobs, I needed something I wouldn’t forget to take. She recommended this, so I gave it a shot. Had this on for a week. PROS: - immediately stopped my period, - don’t have to worry about missing it. CONS: - emotional - mental breakdowns (at least 1 a day, for no reason), my boobs hurt SO BAD - my legs cramped up really bad almost immediately after I put the patch on - nauseous. & I'm not talking about normal nausea."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on it for 2 years. It doesn’t really bother me too much, but the patch does come off often. It helps make my period lighter and causes no weight gain. Thinking about switching due to it coming off too often."

For Birth Control "My first time starting any kind of birth control (just to regulate my period, not really as a contraceptive), and I could only last halfway through my third week. The increase in anxiety, depression, along with the pregnancy-like symptoms, were debilitating. I just took my patch off today because I couldn't take it anymore. I have terrible gastrointestinal problems, feel sore and tender, dizzy, have headaches, and the worst part is the nausea. It's been gradually increasing since I started and has finally gotten to the point where I can't leave my bed. My first patch fell off after three days, so I put a new one on my thigh instead of my side, and that made it not come off anymore, but the mix of mood swings and painful symptoms are too much."

For Birth Control "I recently switched from birth control pills to the patch. I wanted to be on something that I didn't have to remember to take every day, and because I have PCOS, the patch was my next best option. I was a little wary of it because I looked up reviews and saw that many women got ill within the first couple of days of being on it. Luckily, I haven't had that experience. I think that the main reason is because I went from a pill very similar to the patch. I didn't give the patch a 10 rating because it can get a little itchy (it feels like you're wearing a Band-Aid), and sometimes it makes me nervous that it's going to fall off. Overall, no side effects so far, and I'm so glad that I'm not having to remember to take the pill every day."
