"I've been on this pill for 4 months now and it's made my acne worse than ever. I have breakouts on my chest and never have before using the pill. My cramps are the same and periods have not become shorter. I am switching brands."

"I found this drug to be very effective. I had previously tried loestrin 24 Fe and Minerva and had awful side effects (mood swings, crying, etc) within the first week of taking each drug. I then took orsythia for 3 months and had no side effects! I was not at all moody, bloated, did not experience breakthrough bleeding, and did not become pregnant. Although the pill has many bad reviews, I'd recommend this birth control to people who may have had bad side effects on other birth control hormones and are looking for one that fits their needs!"

"I used this birth control for about 10 months before getting off of it. While on it, I must say it did very good at managing my periods. I did not have a heavy flow or a lot of pain. This was very nice, because I usually have rough periods. However, I did notice that my libido lowered and I was more dry. I also gained weight while on it and really struggled to lose it. Honestly getting off it was the best for me. While my rough periods did return, everything else went back to normal as well. I'm definitely looking into a different option post pregnancy."

"My pharmacist switched me to this pill. This is the second month on this brand and it's been giving me terrible moods swings, I feel like I'm PMSing everyday, and my period is irregular and barely anything comes out, thought I was pregnant. I'm switching back to Aviane."

"I don't have insurance but do have a discount at my pharmacy. I've used Lutera for 12 years! Last month I was switched to Orsythia and did notice my mood changed a bit, was so hungry therefore gained 10 pounds. I did have a super light period and my breasts didn't hurt at all this past time. I needed to start eating good anyway and I've lost weight and I now know what's causing my increases anger so I'm more mellow (myself again). I like Orsythia and plan on not switching. "

"I like this pill! Ended my 2nd month and no nausea or irregular bleeding. I was on a higher dose pill before and was absolutely sick from it. My period is right on time from last month and I will continue this pill! It works great considering the condom fell off a few times, makes me absolutely thankful I'm on birth control!"

"I was put on this BC because it was what my insurance was covering. I was on it for about 9 months. Prior to using Orsythia I was on Lutera. I am now back on Lutera thank goodness! They supposedly have the same ingredients but Orsythia really made me feel awful. Here is what went on. Every month was different, some months I was extremely emotional, other months my breasts would get very tender, all the way through the nipple, ouch! I would also get frequent headaches, like maybe 4 a week, There was more cramping too. I connected the dots and told my Dr. and she switched me back to lutera and put on the prescription that there should be no substitutions. I have been fine for the past 6 months since I changed back. Orsythia sucks if you ask me."

"I've been on Orsythia for about a year, and I've had mixed feelings about it. It started out really well and my periods were down to 1-2 days. However, it makes you feel tired and it's hard to feel as energized as you used to."

"This birth control was completely effective for me when I was sexually active. However when I was not sexually active for my last two months of taking this pill my periods were more painful and barely bled at all. But while I was sexually active I barely had any acne, didn't gain any weight, and had no problems with my sex drive. I took this birth control for almost 2 years."

"I switched to this from Loestrin FE 1/20 and got my sex drive back, acne cleared up, and I barely notice that I am on this pill. No longer dizzy or hormonally sad, or feeling like everything is cloudy. I also actually have a noticeable period and no longer spot throughout the month. I do have bad cramps again, but I've always had cramps. Best switch!"

"I have been on Alesse, Aviane and Sronyx and they were amazing. No acne, weight gain or mood swings. I have been on for Orsythia for three months. The first month I noticed I felt strange and high anxiety with many mood swings. The second month I had all the same symptoms with a five pound weight gain. This month I got vertigo so bad I could barely stand and walk. It made me feel so dizzy and so irritated that I was snapping at everybody. I called my insurance carrier and beg them to put me on any thing but Orsythia and they are going to put me back on Aviane. I've been on the pill for over 12 years straight and I have never had a series of side effects like I did with this pill. I would not recommend this to anyone."

"I have had no problems on Orsythia, and have been very happy with it. My periods are much lighter and of shorter duration. I did not experience weight gain, decreased sex drive, and my skin/monthly breakouts did not increase. I have seen a small enhancement in breast size/mass, which was not a dramatic increase, but I was pleased about that. I rate it a 9/10 because this is the only pill I have tried, so I can't fully rate it a 10 without any form of comparison. I also had wished that I would completely prevent my monthly hormone-drop associated breakouts, but those were just high hopes. Overall for me, an effective pill in preventing pregnancy without any adverse side effects to speak of."

"This medication made my breasts hurt for the entire two months that I was on it. I could barely wear a bra because they hurt so badly. Most birth control pills that I have been on have cleared my acne completely, but I all of a sudden had severe breakouts, especially on my chin, while on this medication. The only good side effect was that it decreased my appetite, but I was hungry again during my periods. My periods were also regular and light. "

"My experience with Oysthia is horrible! I have only been on this medication for two weeks and I'm giving up. I keep having mood swings. I was angry at my mom and fiancé for no reason. I threw my cellphone at my fiancé. Lately the anxiety attacks are just killing me. I already have anxiety but this medication makes it so much worse. I literally have at least four anxiety attacks daily. I take my anxiety medication and it still doesn't help which usually it does. Last night I had an anxiety attack so bad two hours after taking the pill and I couldn't even rest. I'm not taking this anymore! Also I been eating like crazy. I had fast food then came home and cooked pizza."

"This BC is great. After suffering from crippling depression from a different BC they switched me to this. I have been on it for 9 months now. No depression or mood swings. My boobs got bigger and it did not take away my sex drive. I used to get cramps and go into a depression before my periods but this BC stopped that. Occasionally I have some break through spotting. This is a minor issue though. I am very sensitive to BC so Orsythia has been a god send for me."

"I was on this pill for close to seven or eight months. It was great at first, absolutely no side effects, until the last three months on it. I was bleeding for four weeks at a time with one week of no bleeding in between. This was my only issue with this birth control. I have been on three other birth controls before this one (stopped because they were discontinued) and have never had any problems with any of them which just shows that I am not prone to mood swings or break outs, cramps, etc., so this pill worked for me personally but may not work for just anyone."

"From using this pill for a year I can say my opinion is firmly that Orsythia is not for me. The pharmacy/insurance switched Lutera to Orsythia and I just went along with it, despite the negative reviews. This past year has been a completely different me, my sex drive was fine, bad cramps only once and then other time from the white week sticker falling off and accidentally missing some pills. But my mood swings became so frequent and awful. I experienced depression and suicidal thoughts and am glad to have switched out of this birth control. I understand everyone's experience is different, but please don't be afraid to switch out of this birth control. Or keep a mood diary if you experience unusual moods."

"I took this medicine for a week and my migraines were so bad to the point of standing up and almost passing out. I had such bad food cravings and couldn’t stop eating. I stopped taking it and five days later I got my period and it was MUCH lighter so I guess that’s a good thing."

"So far, I haven't gotten pregnant so this medication is doing its job. I have experienced a few side effects. I have a complete loss of appetite (I haven't been hungry in 2 months) and I've lost about 5 pounds. Sex can be painful since I can't seem to produce natural lubrication. My period is a barely a period, I wouldn't even call it a "flow" and it lasts maybe a day and a half. Most concerning is before starting Orsythia I had low blood pressure, but after two months my blood pressure has gone up so much it is technically stage 1 hypertension (despite taking perscription water pills)."

"I did not have a positive experience with this drug. This was given to me when my normal BC was on back-order, and I didn't think anything of it and began taking Orsythia. Within days my face began breaking out like crazy. Absolutely horrible, painful acne, whereas normally my acne is under control. Sure, I suppose it works as a birth control, but to me it isn't worth this negative side effect."

"My experience has been horrible... I feel like throwing up all the time. The worse part is just the feeling of it. Also, my boobs are sore and my body aches. I feel super blooded and I actually look blooded. I guess, this pill reacts in different ways for different people; however for me has been a horrible experience. Some of the symptoms I have experience are: Calf Cramps, headache, continuous nauseas, body ache as if I was getting the flue, headaches...."

"This is the worst experience I have ever had with a birth control. My acne is worse and my mood is awful. I've felt depressed for the whole time I've been on it where I just want to cry for no reason or if something does not go right. I have had calf cramps as well. My normal birth control is Lutera and I have no complaints about it."

"I have been on (or was on) orsythia for about two years. I took a break from it to try the Nexplanon implant, but came back after a few months. The first time being on it was so-so. My first period on it lasted about 3 weeks. After stopping and being on it again, they lasted a normal amount of time. This birth control never did anything to lighten my period, but it did help regulate it and my cramps stopped. I also never experienced any of the bad side effects that the other people leaving reviews have. However, I have not ever taken it late, nor have I missed a day, and I still ended up pregnant. I still give it 5 stars because of the positive experience I had with it before I got pregnant, but I guess it does happen."

"I've been told that many people have negatively reviewed this birth control, and I'm honestly a bit surprised at that. I am 17, and I take Orsythia for birth control as well as period regulation, and it does a fine job at both of those. I take the pill very faithfully every night and rarely miss a dosage. I am not pregnant, so the pill is doing its intended job, and I also get my period for about 4 days during the row of white pills. The only thing I don't like is that I break out a little bit more than I did on my previous pill. Other than that, I recommend at least trying this medication."

"I had no problems when on Aviane or Lutera, but since my insurance switched me to Orsythia, my periods have gotten a bit longer, and my cramps have gotten worse. With Aviane and Lutera, I barely had any but now they're back to like before I was on the pill. Plus, my breasts have been achy when they didn't use to be and I've had more headaches. One month I was even worried I was pregnant because I was so tired, bloated and had so many headaches. I'm hoping I can get my doctor to write me a prescription for something else if my insurance doesn't cover Aviane or Lutera when I get my refill next month. Not terrible but not as good as Aviane or Lutera."
