"I started this pill June 2014 and have had an amazing experience. No pregnancies, no weight gain, and no acne (though I wasn't prone to it before). I do get emotional, and tired but nothing a nap and breathing can't fix, what works for some may not work for others, I definitely would recommend, me and a few friends have had very positive experiences!"

"I honestly didn't have a problem with this pill the first 9 months I was on it. After that tho, my breasts grow and REALLY hurt every single month then shrink back to normal before my period begins. I've experienced nausea, super low sex drive, tender breasts, increase of appetite, you name it! I'm paranoid that I'm pregnant every month on this stuff! I'm finishing the last pack and switching for sure!"

"Just started my second pack of this pill. I switched from tri-sprintec due to side effects from that such as nausea, constant breast tenderness, and increased anxiety. I have had no side effects with Orysthia so far. My breasts did get tender before my period, but I'm used to that anyways. My period started the 3rd day of placebo pills and I had mild cramping. My period did last for 5-7 days but was not heavy. My sex drive is pretty low, but it has been ever since I started taking any form of birth control about 7 months ago. Overall, I'm really pleased with this pill!"

"I’ve used Orsythia for two years without any issue. I have a long history of anxiety and it has not been affected by the pill, nor have I experienced any nausea. I take it precisely at the same time everyday and it has worked great. I’ve put on a few pounds but I think everyone should evaluate their diet before blaming the pill, it’s pretty much impossible for a pill to make you gain 20+ pounds unless your diet is unhealthy and you’re lacking exercise. It’s a pretty generic birth control and I would assume that the horrifying side affects listed by previous reviews are probably rare and true for all birth control on the market. So give it a try, it’s not a miracle pill, but it’s not a anxiety inducing weight gain supplement either."

"I've been on Orsythia since January. Ever since I've basically completely lost my sex drive. I'm never in the mood and I have terrible sleep and very irritable. I thought it was just me but reading the reviews and people saying basically the same things I'm having makes sense. The only good thing is that Ive barely had any cramps."

"This was my first time on the pill, and I can say that it has been great. I gained a few pounds the first month, but I also started lifting weights and eating a lot more to help build muscle the same time I started taking it, so I can't say definitively that the pill is what made me gain weight (and by gain weight I mean like 5 to 7 pounds--I haven't gained or lost more than 2 or 3 in the past 4 years as a high schooler so that was pretty significant for me). It didn't clear up my acne but it didn't make it any worse, I've had no mood swings, no cramps, no pms symptoms, no bloating, really no side effects at all. The only real change I've experienced by taking this is that it made my period more regular and lighter. I have no complaints"

"The only reason I even give this two stars is because I never had an issue with pregnancy on this pill. I started with Aviane (which I had no side effects and generally felt great) and was switched to this by my pharmacy. Since then things have gone down hill. I had very mild anxiety before going on the pill, Aviane did nothing to it but Orsythia has amplified it to the point where I've really struggled with my anxiety and mood swings. A few days before my period the smallest things will set me off into episodes of weeping and panic. I've gained some weight (5 pounds). Experienced nausea every so often (more than Aviane). Worst, is the cystic acne on my chin. While my periods have been lighter and shorter, cramps have gotten worse. Terrible"

"I used Orsythia many years ago and all went well. I don't remember having any issues while using it. It prevented pregnancy, my acne cleared up and I lost a little weight. I recently decided to get back on the pill and have only been on it for about 2 weeks. This time around, my boobs hurt so bad, my back muscles are extremely tender and I constantly feel like I'm going to vomit. So far there are no negative effects on my anxiety/depression. I'm going to give it more time since I had a successful experience prior to this, but if things continue down this path, I will have to switch to something else."

"I will say that from expirience everyones response is different and I've had much worse reactions to different birthcontrol pills before but I will list all of my side effects that I had from this medication....... severe mood changes, I cried ALL the time ( but I didn't feel angry, just sad), trouble wearing contacts, swelling of the fingers when working out, weight gain, some water retention, headaches, and NO sex drive....but on a good side I had light periods, light cramping, no spotting, and I didn't get pregnant."

"I have been on Orsythia for a year now and I have to say that I have never been happier with another birth control and I've one other before starting Orsythia. I did NOT gain any weight, lose my sex drive, get acne, have mood swings, PMS symptoms or most importantly get pregnant on this birth control. I am so happy with my rx and I would highly recommend. I understand that everyone is different and experience drugs differently but you need to wait the 3-4 months before getting used to a daily drug in your body that changes your natural hormones. I love it and I see that it is very effective for me."

"Been taking Orsythia for one month. I've noticed breakouts of acne along my jawline and some random ones on my upper lip, some weight gain. I feel a bit swollen at times, my feet and my arms mostly. My mood has not been affected. Although I have been getting a lot of headaches since I started with this pill, every day practically, relieved by Tylenol."

"Been on this BC for three months now. I switched to this type in hopes that I would be able to regain my sex drive, but I was a bit put off after seeing such terrible reviews. I'll start by saying I do not experience anywhere near the severity of side effects most people are reporting. I have not gained any weight, but my breasts have filled out a bit. I currently don't experience any mood changes, although between the first and second month I noticed that I was quick to get angry at smaller things much more frequently. This is no longer happening. My only complaint is the acne--I get a few cystic pimples on my chin on the weeks where I am on the active pills. Overall, I am very happy with this birth control."

"This is by far the absolute worst birth control. It does it's job at preventing pregnancy but everything else is just awful. A week into it I was ready to stop taking it! I had awful headaches and strong cramping and stayed nauseous. I gained a good bit of weight immediately face broke out and I was like it's just side affects it will go away when it gets in my system good. So I continue to take it. I stopped after completing the first pack. I had felt like a crazy person my anxiety was through the roof I was having mood swings, I didn't care about life, I went into an awful depression and I was like nope can't do this I knew it was the meds. So I stopped and little by little my stomach pains went away, the headaches were gone, my face started to clear up and I started my period again a week later and all the swelling went down my mood swings everything. But I have currently been bleeding none stop extremely heavy for 2 weeks now no pains or anything,"

"OH MY GOD. Worst birth control ever. My insurance switched my birth control about a year ago. I have experienced such horrible anxiety it is unbelievable. At first I thought it was just me, but nooooo way. I was even put on anxiety medication which has not helped me at all. It has almost ruined my relationship. Yes my periods are shorter and my cramps are finally gone, but it’s not worth it. I am switching immediately. Oh and yes it does a great job protecting pregnancy. But like I said, I’d rather feel sane and keep my relationship."

"When I first went on the pill, it was to help with my pmdd, which I will say, helped significantly. However, I have NOO SEX DRIVE. I used to masturbate at least once or twice every day but now I'm lucky if I can even make myself orgasm in a month. Orgasms don't feel very good anymore and nothing turns me on. Sex is painful and boring. Other than that, it did make my periods a bit shorter which is one positive of this pill. The first week I was on the pill I was super queasy ugh! Some other side effects have been weight gain (only about 3-5 pounds but still), and horrible acne in the first 3 months. I'm seeing my obgyn soon because my low sex drive is hurting my relationship and makes life miserable."

"I was given this to treat my cystic acne, and severe mood swings due to PMDD. This isn't my first time on birth control, either. Orsythia has been working well, a little too well! My acne vanished, my skin texture changed (for the better), and I no longer lash out at anyone for simply calling my name. However, now that it's been in my system for 5 months, I've developed dependent edema. My legs swell up like balloons, and they're firm to the touch. Anyway, overall, it works great, but with that nasty edema, I've been switched to a lower dosage of another brand. If you need a BC with some UMF!, Orsythia is your best bet. If not, find something weaker."

"Was only on it for 4 months to regulate my period. Started out okay and period were light and on schedule. The last 2 months I was on it I had my period for two weeks!! Also made me very depressed, I gained weight, craved food 24/7, and retained water and felt bloated all the time."

"I've only been on it for one month so my opinion and perspective might be a little skewed. However, I've experienced nothing but wonderful things. I have acneprone skin and I have not had any major breakouts. I have a curbed appetite now. I do sweat more but only when I'm being active. My period is so light, which is a definite plus! I highly recommend at least trying. Everyone's body is different, but it works for me."

"I have only been on orsythia for about 1 month and I just started my second week of my second month. I guess I didn't notice earlier but I started to get slight headaches and I didn't feel very well physically and mentally. It do help with my cramps and my period, not so much my acne but it's better. The worst part of orsythia has to be the mood swings and the sweating! I sweat a lot even if it's cold I'll start a light sweat, it's gross. But the mood swings are the worst I just started feeling this and it happened while I was talking to one of my friends I just blew up on him, for no reason. Then later on I started to feel really bad(mentally) and I cried for a while and I couldn't figure out why I was crying! I don't recommend!"

"I've been on Orsythia for about a year now and it's been the best birth control I've been on. All the others made me very emotional and gain weight. At first there was some nausea but eating before taking the pill helped. There's also breast tenderness when my period starts but thats no surprise. I haven't gained any weight, my acne cleared up and I've never had a pregnancy scare while on this pill even after unprotected sex with my boyfriend. Overall I'd say it's doing a good job."

"I was on this for 2 years and at first it was great! It worked great... BUT a few months into it I noticed I had no sex drive, heavier periods, minor acne flare ups (I didn't have acne before), & extreme mood swings. A year into it everyone started thinking I was crazy so I went to see a physiologist to help my moodiness. A year & a half in I realized nothing was helping, I was diagnosed with severe anxiety and depression. That was odd to me being that when I was in high school I was happy & outgoing.. My family blamed my relationship for my unhappiness but it was the pill. On top of that I gained 30lbs within the two years of taking it. Now I'm off that crap & happier than ever, I'm normal me again & my relationships with everyone improved!"

"My pharmacist switched me to Orsythia after my regular birth control, Aviane, was unavailable. In the first 48 hours on Orsythia I having terrible mood swings and anxiety. Then came the bloating, weight gain and acne. I'm now on my placebo week and my hormone levels have dropped so rapidly that I feel like a crazy person. Can't wait to get off this stuff next week! P.S. I would HIGHLY recommend Aviane to anyone looking for a low-dose birth control pill. I was on it for years and never had any problems."

"I have been on Orsythia for two years now, and after reading these reviews I am making some connections. I have definitely had very light periods since switching to Orsythia (sometimes to the point of wondering whether I was missing a period!) with no cramping at all. I've never had issues with cramping, though. However, I have had little to no sex drive, some weight gain, and general moodiness here and there. All within the last year and a half I never thought to relate any of it to my contraceptive and plan to discuss with my doctor at my upcoming appointment."

My doctor told me it would get better so after a damn year it still sucks.DO NOT GET ON IT. I have friends who experinced this as well. It ruins my life I hate being off my period for only a week out of a damn month."
