"I have been using Ortho Levora for 3 years. I mainly use it for acne and so far I like the result. My problem is I feel bloated (water retention) other than that my face is smooth compared to my cystic infested face before! Well, I tried Doxycycline a medication specifically for acne but I stopped it immediately due to some horrible experience. I went back to Levora. I think I will be using this for many more years."

"I began Levora to help control my migraines that are caused by a significant drop in estrogen on or right before my period. Although they worked for the migraines, I started to notice symptoms like extreme moodiness, crying, frustration, etc within the first month but figured my body was just getting used to it since this is the first birth control I've been on. Three months later it got worse and I also had problems with water weight, a huge increase in acne, and terrible dry spots all over my face. The emotions got so bad it was affecting my relationship so I had to stop."

"I’ve been on Levora for almost 3 months and it started out ok, but recently I’ve had periods way more often and they seem to last longer. I went like almost two weeks without one and then I got it again and it has been nonstop. I’ve only been taking the active pills so I’m not sure if that’s the reasoning but I wonder if taking the inactive ones with it will just regular me out because I am sick of being on my period. Other than that I don’t mind it. Just wish this period would stop."

"Levora made me an emotional MESS! I will pay more for Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo, which I was on for 7 years with NO problems. I switched because Levora is cheaper. I am tired of crying at the drop of a hat and feeling "strange". I realize that every person is different."

"I have been taking this birth control for about 2 months now and I am absolutely loving it. Seems like my perfect fit pill. Although I know everyone is different, I have experienced nothing but good. My breasts have definitely gotten bigger, and my sex drive has increased, never have I had a problem with dryness, etc. I've never had acne, but I have noticed that my skin had cleared up. Lighter and shorter periods, not pregnant yet, so it's doing its job. No mood swings. Got it from planned parenthood."

"I guess this Levora pill isn't for me. I'm 43, so my fears of / hope for ever having a child are long gone. After being off the pill for years, my doctor put me back on them to help regulate my cycle. Levora lasted two weeks. They call it birth control for a reason. In just a few days I became a bloated, tired, gassy demon with acne. Whereas I normally couldn't keep my hands off my boyfriend, I found myself wishing he would just "get it over with". I'm stopping these awful pills today. I still hate the unpredictably of my cycle. Maybe that's what happens when you get older, but I'd rather randomly bleed than endure this. No thank you. I'm trying more Ibuprofen, a menstural cup and more iron instead. Let's hope my boyfriend and I are to old for an "oops" baby. Besides, I don't think I can get pregnant anyway."

"I have been on Levora for over 2 years now and I really love it. I have not gained any weight due to being on the pill, I NEVER get acne, cravings and PMS symptoms are greatly reduced, and my periods are extremely light and short-almost like spotting. I still get cramps during the first day of my period, but they're so slight and Advil takes care of it immediately. I usually start within the 3rd day of the inactive pills and my period is over in 3 days, but lately I've been starting a day later so my period lasts 2 days-not complaining though! I also suck at remembering to take the pill every day and still have not gotten pregnant."

"I have been taking Levora for about two months. Here is my experience: the first day I took it I woke up around 3 am because I had a lot of nausea but it got better later. The next two days I had nausea but nothing I couldn't handle. I have lost 10lbs since I started taking the pill, don't get hungry a lot, just normal. Something I have noticed is that I get very emotional one week before my period comes. Sex drive is higher than ever, this might be because I feel more protected and so does my partner, but we still use condoms as a second birth control method. Overall, I don't have any issues with this pill (which I got it from Planned Parenthood) so far. Don't be scared to try it because everyone is different."

"I've been on Levora for over a year. I have always weighed in at 100 pounds but after two months on Levora I gained 20 pounds and have stayed that way since. For the past 6 months I have been eating better and exercising better than I have in years with no change in the weight. I have also noticed my hair thinning out. I had no moodiness or problems with my period. I am switching to Aviane, so hopefully that goes well."

"I'm 5'5 and started at 125 pounds. I've been taking this birth control for 6 months and have gained almost 20 pounds (I'm at 143). Weight is impossible to lose.I eat well and exercise every day. Wouldn't recommend this at all."

"Great hormone balance. I've had issues before with other pills (Microgestrin, Aviane, Kariva)...you name it... breakthrough bleeding, depression, headaches, low drive, etc. I thought I was just not someone who the pill worked for without major side-effects...but LEVORA IS GREAT. No issues whatsoever, higher drive, absolutely no weight/depression/spotting/tenderness issues. Amazing pill - highly recommend it if you've had problems with other pills before."

"I have been on levora since 2009 so just over ten years. I initially gained weight, but lost it as soon as I started working out. I switched around a little bit but always came back to levora. I got off for a year in 2017 and had the worst acne I’d ever experienced so I went back on. I’ve never gotten pregnant so it’s a good birth control. However, I am unable to tell if it’s effecting my moods, blood sugars (I’m a T1D). Thinking about getting off so I can clear up my body to prepare for pregnancy, eventually. I’m just afraid of the terrible acne more than anything."

"I hate it. I hate it. This is the last straw for me. I am very sensitive to hormones, so take my review with a grain of salt. If it weren't for my sensitivity, I would stay on it. It's very effective, if you take it at the same time everyday. I have tried every form of birth control under the sun. All have either made me sick, or I've developed an allergy. I've been trying to avoid getting Paraguard due to a uterine fibroid, and heavy periods. Honestly, I will take a week once a month of heavy, painful periods, over continuing to be nauseous, and constipated every single day with Levora. I've been on Levora for almost 4 months, and the side effects aren't any better. My advice, if you're sensitive to hormones, go get a Paraguard IUD, use condoms, or get sterilized."

"I developed extreme depression, anxiety, and mood swings, and gained 15lbs. I eventually became suicidal. I switched to another type of bc and within 2 months my suicidal thoughts were completely gone and within 4 months my depression and anxiety were gone too. My life was the same, but I felt sane and in control of my emotions again. I also was finally able to lose weight. And my previously clear skin, which levora ruined with cystic acne, went back to normal. This is a nasty, horrible pill. It should be taken off the market."

"Terrible experience! Levora is a very dangerous birth control! After only 3 weeks of taking this birth control I experienced shortness of breath, very acute chest pain and headaches. Prior to taking Levora I was in very good health. I work out 3 times a week and I am in pretty good shape. I never had headaches, absolutely never experienced chest pain or shortness of breath. After only 3 week of taking Levora I was very scared! The chest pain was so strong that it would wake me up at night and I could not sleep! After 3 weeks of using this pill I stopped. Please do NOT take this pill! It’s extremeky dangerous! I had a CT scan to verify if there are any blood clots in my lungs and a radiology of my legs! This birth control should is the worst and will give you serious health issues! PLEASE DO NOT TAKE IT!"

"I started this pill about three weeks ago. I've been crying non-stop. Not to mention I get irritated quickly and my moods are up and down. It's affecting not only me but my love life. I started doubting my now long term boyfriend loving me. Before I started this pill my depression was starting to get better then BAM I'm on this pill and I start sleeping over and over again, I feel bored/worthless in life once again. Also the side effect of getting pimples, my skin was clear before this. I'm changing my pill."

"Im 17 and the first month on this birth control was great. No side effects, nothing! Then the 2nd month came and I got very, VERY emotional. I was crying and crying over stupid things and it was worrying my boyfriend. Then in the 1st week of the 3rd month, I got very depressed, lost my appetite. I had to force myself to eat, and I was nauseous. I had lost 8 pounds in the course of a week and a half. Every month was getting worse. I mentioned it to my mom what it was doing. She advised me to stop taking it, I went to the doctors yesterday and they prescribed me a new pill with less hormones, Microgestin 1/20. "

"So far so good! I have experienced very slight irritability on Levora. The main symptom I have is mild bloating. When I say slight/mild I MEAN it! This birth control is much better than getting my normal period. The slight irritability is completely worth it, because it is actually much less intense/noticeable than my regular PMS symptoms. I haven't had any nausea, vomiting, weight gain, increased acne, or mood swings. Overall I'd call this birth control a winner."

"I took this pill for 4 years and have a really bad cystic acne. Then my doc prescribed me Ortho Levora to stop it. I was amazed that it cleared my face. However, when I stop it it comes back. Well, I had a pretty bad diet and do not exercise so probably it contributes to the cystic acne lesions. Now, I exercise 5-6 times per week and diet is straight (no fast food, any types of sweet beverage- even juice or Gatorade-, no fried stuff, salty food, and etc.) Now, I can get off Levora without having any problems with cystic acne. Weight gain wise I did pack a lot of pounds when I first taking it. Well, I was eating unhealthy so it must be the culprit not the birth control itself. If anyone complains gaining weight on this you are eating too much."

"I have been taking this birth control for over 2 months now and I have experience spotting/blending for 2 months straight. I got back on the pill because my husband and I decided kids isn’t the right choice for us at this time. It has been extremely frustrating that I have not had 1 day in the last 2 months where I didn’t experience bleeding. I understand spotting is to be expected. But not full on for the 2 months straight. I haven’t noticed any differences in acne or weight gain/loss. But my breast size has increased by a full cup size. I’ve take Ortho Cyclen in the past and didn’t experience any symptoms with that. But this birth control has been effecting my physical relationship with my husband. As well as my functions of everyday life. I have my wedding in a month and I want to be able to enjoy without having to worry about this bleeding. Will update in a few months."

"I've been taking Levora for a little over a year. This was my first time using an oral contraceptive and it is amazing. I haven't gotten pregnant, my sex drive has increased and my acne isn't as bad. When I take the reminder pills I usually don't start my period the first day which scares me. I crave food the week before my period and sometimes during. This pill serves its purpose so far, but me and my boyfriend also use condoms the majority of the time."

"I started on the patch for my acne, but my skin had allergic reaction to the patch. It gave me no side effects, so the doctor changed me to oral contraceptive. The one with the closest hormone dosage to the patch was Levora (called MinOvral in Canada). I have been on it for 6 years now. The only side effect I have experienced is mild breakouts right when I start a new pack after a week off, but I can put up with that. It is also slightly pricier than many other oral contraceptives. Unfortunately my school's insurance plan does not completely cover it, but it is still affordable."

"I highly recommend this birth control. As a woman who's tried four different kinds in the past, this one has minimal side effects. The first 2-4 weeks, you'll notice some water retention, but it'll go away. Levora really helps with my pms & pmdd, along with everything else. I'm someone who gets super sensitive and emotional before and during my period (in tears every night with a bag of chips) and levora has worked wonders with that...No more emotional eating & crying spells every 2 weeks! My hair has also gotten thicker and more shiny which is awesome! I also haven't had a single breakout."
