"I started this pill almost 3 weeks ago after having my second child. My doctor said it was great and one of her favorites to prescribe. I have never had any trouble with any of my other brands of birth control, but this one has caused a 3-week-long period (bright red with no end in sight) and bad cramps (I am switching as soon as I can)."

"I started taking Larissa about 3 months ago, and it has caused major breakouts on my face and my back. I was suffering from mild adult acne prior to taking Larissa, and when I started taking this pill, I noticed huge welts on my back, and my face was breaking out in cystic acne. I have also gained about 10 pounds in 3 months, which isn't necessarily a bad thing for me because I needed to gain a little bit, but just putting it out there as a warning. Mood swings were not too bad, but I found myself thinking very negatively, and my mood would fluctuate. This pill is not for me. My doctor has prescribed me Nikki, and I will start taking it on Monday."

"This is my first time taking birth control pills, and I was worried about all of the side effects I've read about. It feels like I'm not on anything. I noticed a few days where I was very emotionally sensitive, but other than that, nothing, which is fantastic! The only reason I gave it a 9 and not a 10 is I've only been on it a month, so wouldn't know if I'm pregnant yet, ha!"

"This is the only birth control I have been on. I started in Jan 2021, so I've been on it for 9 months. I wanted to start bc to protect from pregnancy, and my period was very heavy, and my cramps were terrible. My doc recommended Larissia. It took about 3-4 months for my period to sync up with the active/placebo pills. My period is now so light with minimal cramps. It starts on the same day every month. I have never had a scare being on these pills. The reviews scared me; I almost didn't go through with them! Everyone has a different body; please be considerate of that! I have not gained any weight, and my acne is minimal. The only complaint I have, which this is only MY experience, is the terrible mood swings. The thing is, I have always had mood swings, and I've always been dramatic and very, VERY sensitive, so it isn't much of a difference. Don't let the reviews scare you! This bc has been incredible to me; I highly recommend it! :))))"

"In the beginning of taking this birth control, everything was fine. My period became more regular and predictable and less painful. But recently, I have been more manic and depressed than I ever have been in my entire life. I have never felt this low in my entire life. Granted, I still don’t cramp much, no weight gain, nor do I get much acne, but I would rather feel like myself and deal with those side effects. My anxiety has skyrocketed to the point where I no longer have been able to sleep well or go out with friends anymore. It’s affecting all parts of my life, including my appetite. Do understand birth control works differently for everyone, but I’m extremely glad I’m not the only one feeling this way while on Larissia."

"Larissia is the first birth control I have ever tried, and I have been quite happy with my experience. I’ve been on it for 11 months, and in the beginning, it was really good, aside from some mood swings. I experienced some nausea, but it wasn’t too bad. I will now be switching because the past few months I’ve started spotting in the middle of my pack, and it doesn’t end until I start the next pack. :( I really liked this pill and didn’t have any other negative side effects besides the spotting. I would really recommend this pill, though, to anyone who is looking for a good birth control."

"I haven't felt this bad in years. Take a horrific stomach virus and combine it with the worst PMS symptoms you've ever experienced - that's how I felt on Larissia. Nausea, acid reflux, diarrhea, and full-body aches and pains, plus fatigue, lack of motivation, depression, mood swings, and crying at the drop of a hat. At least when you're cycling naturally, the latter symptoms (minus the nausea, acid reflux, and diarrhea) disappear when your period starts. With Larissia, this is your life; it doesn't end. I had to stop after 2 weeks because I can't live like this 'until my hormones balance out' after 3 months; I have a job and responsibilities and can't afford to be so physically and mentally compromised. I'll be taking proton pump inhibitors for the next 2 weeks to try to heal my stomach. If I could, I would throw the rest of the pack on the FDA's lawn in protest. I gave this a 2 and not a 1 because at least I didn't get a blood clot. Avoid Larissia at all costs."

"I personally did not like Larissia. I was on the same birth control for years (Falmina), and it was amazing. I switched to Larissia because of switching pharmacies. My experience was weight gain, acne, and mood swings. Larissia and Falmina are similar, but obviously something was way different in Larissia that made me react that way. I have switched back to my old birth control."

"I’ve been taking Larissia for about two weeks, and I hate it. I’ve been having constant spotting for the past week, slight nausea, headache, anxiety, and just low motivation all around. Mind you, this is my second time taking birth control, I first took another brand for three and a half years, and it was completely symptom-free, minus being slightly more emotional. I can’t wait to finish this pack of Larissia, I’m so tempted to just throw the rest of the pack away and deal with the consequences, lol."

"I got on birth control because my boyfriend and I have sex a lot, he doesn’t want to use condoms or pull out, and I had a baby 8 months ago. At first, everything was fine for the first month. Then I started to notice little things, like how I’d get my period twice a month! I always get my period on the 1st or 2nd day of the month and it usually lasts 3-4 days. Well, last month my normal period came in and lasted 7 days! Then, the last week of February, I started my period again, which ended March 4th. Then, 8 days later, I started my period again! I also have no sex drive as well, I’m having mood swings, which is not good. I’ve never had trouble taking birth control, especially since I’ve been on it since I was 16. I really wouldn’t recommend this medication."

"I started Larissa over a month ago to manage PCOS. I went from barely having any period symptoms besides vaginal tenderness to experiencing headaches, tender breasts, cramps, fatigue, and sometimes nausea. However, I think this is because my body is still adjusting to the hormones. I don’t have any mental symptoms. I’m not sexually active, but this med makes me super wet and horny all the time, especially when I normally would be ovulating. It has worked really well for me, though, regulated my period right away and is preventing infertility and reproductive cancers. So I’m good with popping some Midol to treat side effects."

"I’ve been on this form of birth control since April 1st, 2020. Ever since I’ve become sexually active with it, I’ve had no problems with pregnancy scares. When I did first start out, though, it did make my vagina very dry. I also have been experiencing a little bit of depression and anxiety with it, but it’s not overwhelming."

"I've been on birth control for four years, and they constantly switch the brands, which led me to take Larissia the past year or two, and it's been horrible. I feel the same way I did when I was on antidepressants, unable to control my moods and getting a lot more worked up over every little thing. Don't get me wrong, my periods have been lighter, and I always know when I'm going to get them, but the emotional toll of this drug is too much. I also have a lot more light sensitivity now and have passed out a few times while on this medication. I could go on and on about all the health problems I've had because of this medication. WOULD NOT recommend."

"On the first week taking it, I had migraines, but it went away. The second and third week, my breasts got really sore, and it hurts. My sleep schedule changes, it makes me go to bed in the afternoon, then I end up waking up early in the morning."

"Started this because I struggle with cramps and mood swings during my periods, but this pill was 10 times worse. Definitely be careful if you already have mental health struggles— I have bipolar disorder, and this pill made me more depressed than I'd been in years, and I was almost hospitalized multiple times. I already get migraines, but they got much more severe, and the nausea was constant. I couldn’t eat anything without feeling awful. Other fun side effects have included digestion issues and constant bloating, getting acne for the first time in my life, gaining weight consistently, breasts growing in size, breast tenderness, and periods that became even more painful and irregular than when I started. Not to mention, I feel awful self-esteem-wise and have grown to hate my appearance. I’m glad this works for some people, but I will be getting off of it as soon as possible!!"

"Since my other birth control got discontinued, they switched this to me. I had no side effects with this at all, minor small pimples. I lost six pounds on this, and my appetite isn’t as big as it once was before. I have no complaints."

"This is the first birth control I've ever been on, so I can't compare it to other contraceptives, but I can share my experience with anyone willing to read. Larissa overall hasn't got rid of me yet, so that's a plus. I did notice my mood started to shift irregularly. I do have ADHD, so this might just be a me thing, but I go from happy to mental breakdown on the floor so quick, and then I'm totally fine. This only really started after I began taking this medicine. My acne did decrease, but I also noticed a significant change in weight. I'm now about 15 pounds heavier than I was before I started Larissa. I honestly might switch medications, but then again side effects are different for everyone."

"The doctor switched me from Orsythia (been on for about 2 years) to Larissia. Had been on Larissia for about 3 months, and let me tell you, it is the worst birth control I had ever been on! Cons: 1. I’m always moody! 2. Acne breakout (I hardly have any acne to begin with). 3. Always hungry all the time!!! Pros: 1. Period seems light and short. 2. No cramps or any indigestion problems. As of right now, I’m done taking birth control and giving my body a good 3 months break."

"I was only on Larissia for a few months before my pharmacy switched me to another brand, but I really enjoyed my experience on it. I had switched from Lillow, which made me super moody. I didn’t have any negative side effects with Larissia, no major mood swings, incredibly light periods, and I think my body did better with the lower dose of hormones."

"Wow, I wish I had found this site sooner! Larissa has been the absolute worst birth control pill! I have breakthrough bleeding every 2 weeks, and I’m not trying to skip my periods. I thought that my body would regulate after a while, but it’s been almost a year! Besides breakthrough bleeding, I suffered from severe cystic acne immediately after starting this. My dermatologist thought I was crazy because birth control should decrease acne, so she put me on a ton of creams. I never had acne to start and now have horrible scars. I haven’t gotten pregnant, but these side effects stink."

"I switched from Ortho-Tri-Cyclen to Larissia because my health insurance doesn't cover Ortho-Tri-Cyclen. I use birth control pills by only taking the active 21 pills, then starting a new pack for birth control and so have no period. I was concerned, but besides my skin having a tiny bit more acne than with Ortho-Tri-Cyclen, they do seem about the same."

"I have been on Larissa for coming up on a year now. This birth control has done what it needs to do but has given me insane symptoms. My breasts are tender almost all the time. I have been having extreme mood swings and terrible nightmares. Even after an entire night of sleep, I will feel sluggish throughout the day. My back will randomly cramp up and be in pain. I am never one to have any symptoms or reactions to medication, but this one changed that. I will say after having an irregular menstrual cycle, Larissa brought it back with nice light periods, but after about two months ago, my bleeding is very little to none and seems like it’s old blood. This left me very confused. I recommend this birth control for preventing pregnancy, but the symptoms can be horrific."

"I’ve been on it for two months, so I’m quite new to it, but overall it’s been working well. I have gained a little bit of weight, but I think that it’s mainly just water weight. Also, one thing I was worried about going into this was it causing or worsening depression. I already have depression, and I didn’t want it to get worse, so I was taking a risk, but I’ve been completely fine. I’ve actually had my mood under better control in a way. I am more calm. I like it."

"Oh my goodness, just no. I do not recommend the Larissia pill to ANYONE. I've been on Orsythia for over 4 years with no issues (it's cleared my acne and minimized period symptoms). I've had to take Larissia occasionally when my pharmacy doesn't have Orsythia available, and let's just say I get the WORST acne breakouts within days of taking the first pill, my irritability and annoyance levels are constantly off the charts every time I've had to take it. DO NOT TAKE THIS."

"I’ve been taking Larissia for 2 years now, and I would recommend it if you take the pill continuously. The biggest side effect is a heavier period with intense cramps the first couple of days. However, it is tolerable since taking the pill continuously means only getting your period 4 times a year (ask your doctor if it’s okay to skip periods). Other side effects have been eye sensitivity and increased appetite, which have only been mild."
