"I have been taking the brand Mylan, I have had the worse experience with it. I suffer from ovarian cysts and am close to getting them removed and I am on month 5, I bled everyday since the first day. It switches up on me from spotting to heavy bleeding. The cramps it gives me are unbearable and the horrific night sweats! I also gained depression and fatigue. I’m going to the hospital for the pain constantly and they all say the same thing, “your body needs to adjust to the hormones” blah blah blah. I’d chose heavy bleeding over this any day!! I don’t recommend this BC!!"

Lutera (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) "I want to reply to an earlier post. Birth control pills do help with facial hair. They are used to treat PCOS, which causes excess facial hair. High levels of testosterone can cause facial hair. Birth control pills have sex binding globulin which binds extra testosterone helping to reduce its levels and excess facial hair. It is also why some women on birth control pills may experience a decreased sex drive (testosterone is responsible for sex drive in men and women). I've also been using lutera for a month and have notices a significant reduction of facial hair, but I have also had spotting for over a week."

Alesse-28 (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) "Took this pill to have control over when my period would start. Into the second pack and I have started feeling very anxious, nervous and panicky. I’ve started crying for little reasons. Just threw the pack away. I would much rather have my period come at the wrong time than control it and feel like this,"

CamreseLo (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) "I am rating this birth control (BC) an 8/10 because it truly has helped me control my horrible bleeding and bad cramping with my periods. The reason I took 2 points off is due to the bad headaches I got for 2 weeks and the spotting I had for the first few months. This has seemed to stop now. I have not gained any weight and my skin has cleared up from my former hormonal acne. I am so happy I was prescribed this pill. I am no longer worried about getting pregnant and I finally have a light and manageable menstrual cycle. My period lasted 2 days as compared to off the pill it was 7-8! My sex drive is better due to my ability to not be worried about unwanted pregnancy. Thank you Cam Lo for making me feel normal again! :)"

Seasonale (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) "I have been on Seasonale for over a year now, and it is the only birth control that has actually worked for me, after going through 6 other brands. I went from having very heavy periods and cramping for 7 days, to having a very light (hardly there) period every 3 months. It also managed to clear up the cystic acne that came along with it. My only issue with it was that for the first month or two on the pill, I did have some spotting and bleeding, but it quickly went away, and haven't had any bleeding since then. Other than that I haven't experienced any other symptoms, and I highly recommend Seasonale!"

Seasonique (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) "I started taking this medicine in December, got sick and forgot a pill. I got my period it lasted 15 days and I wasn't supposed to have it yet. Then my doctor changed me to a different one. Started taking that one and within a few days I started bleeding again. It would be a great thing to only have a period every 3 months, but the side effects for me made it worse."

Lutera (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) "For the first 6 months lutera worked very well for me unlike other birth controls that I previously took. Lutera had almost no side effects such as weight gain and moodiness. My periods were regular and lighter then after about 6 months, I started getting my period every 2 weeks. This went on for 2 months until I stopped taking the pill."

Seasonique (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) "Switched from deposit shot to seasonique after my sophomore year of college. My doctor said I would have one week of bleeding at the end of each pack. But for some reason I end up spotting heavily the WHOLE third month, with a heavier period during the "bleed week". I am very consistent with the time I take it and I don't miss a day. But yet I'm still stuck with a month long period. Not sure if I should switch bc methods because of this. The only reason I was sold on seasonique was because I was expecting one NORMAL period once ever 3 months."

LoSeasonique (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) "I was a little hesitant to try LoSeasonique due to all of the negative reviews, but thought it was worth a shot at no longer having a period every month, since I struggle with heavy periods for 11 days every month. I have just finished taking my first pack and never once experienced spotting during the three months on this pack. Nor did I have any changes in skin, weight or cramping. My sex drive even increased. Some factors that may have helped ease my body onto this pill so smoothly might relate to the fact that I took the pill at the same time everyday and have been on birth control for about nine years. Everyone's body reacts differently, so it may be worth taking the risk. I for one am very pleased with this pill."

Levora (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) "I’m currently on Levora and have been taking it since mid July. I’ve had my period for 11 days now which is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. It isn’t an unbearable period with bad cramps (although there are random rumbles here and there) but it IS a big nuisance! And so random! Thankfully, I’ve experienced some weight gain (I was quite slim and was pleasantly surprised to notice my breast getting bigger. My bf is quite happy too :)) I hope this period ends soon though because it’s not exactly the easiest thing to have for this long and I’d like to be able to enjoy the rest of the summer without a nagging period to ruin plans."

CamreseLo (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) "I am 24 years old and have been taking CamreseLo for approximately 2 and a half years. I love this pill; I have had no side effects. I have been on a birth control continuously since I was 12 because of an extremely heavy and irregular menstruation. After being on CamreseLo for a year, my flow became very minimal. Now after over 2 years, my period only lasts 1 day. It's amazing considering I have very minimal spotting in between the 3 months of active pills. It has also reduced my cramps; which used to be so bad I couldn't move."

Seasonique (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) "So after having my second child and finishing nursing I was having major cramping the week of my period. Not debilitating, but extremely uncomfortable. My obgyn recommended seasonique more for hormone control than for birth control. I tried it and absolutely loved it for the 65 days. Then my period started earlier than I'd anticipated, but no big deal, right? I'm currently on day 18 of my period. Aside from the cramps and some genera moodiness my periods before lasted 4 days and weren't a big deal. I've now bought stock in tampax and Kotex. It'll lighten up and then wham! Called my doctor and she's switching me back to loestrin which previously did nothing to help with the cramps and moodiness, but at this point I'll take it!"

Levlen (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) "Levlen is a product I have used for the last three years in order to regulate my periods (I have amenorrhea). Without the aid of hormones, I do not have a proper cycle and therefore have been on "versions" of the pill since fifteen. Levlen is just as good as any, and (for me) the contraceptive ability is an added bonus."

Seasonique (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) "I started the generic of seasonique about 5 months ago the first three months were great got my period when I was suppose was light didn't last long. Then about 2 months into my next pack I started bleeding again and it lasted until the end of that pack. Once I started the new pack that I am on now it stopped. I'm only a week in and I'm bleeding again. I have a daily alarm on my phone so that I take it at the same time everyday."

Alesse (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) "I've been using Alesse 28 for a little over a year now and it's my first birth control pill! I use it mainly for period regulation since my period wouldn't come 6 months at a time and for birth control (10/10 effective when used properly). When I first started taking Alesse, my abdominal region felt a bit uncomfortable, but within a matter of about 2 weeks it went away. Some symptoms I've taken notice of was the mild mood swings I'd have once in a while and a little bit of dizziness. Now, the abdominal pain and dizziness I seem to have experienced a year ago has subsided, but the mild mood swings are still apparent and prevalent. I have no consistent weight loss or weight gain, acne, hair loss or hair growth, or loss of a sex drive."

Levlen (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) "Originally was put on Levlen as a last resort to treat my Menorrhagia, after 6 months it eventually made my cycle normal-ish, which was great after dealing with that for 2 years. Experienced enormous weight gain, since going on it 3 years ago, I have doubled my weight, exercise, and diet hasn't stopped the weight gain, heaviest I've been in my life. It has happened to other members of my family with taking Levlen, so it might not happen to everyone. Had a lot of fainting, passing out 6 months in, my GP didn't really look into it. My mental health got worse on it too, huge difference in my mood, developed clinical depression, and anxiety. When I stopped taking the pill there was huge difference in my overall mood."

Seasonique (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) "I've been on this pill for almost 3 months, only 1 week away, but I've been bleeding since the second week I started this pill. I haven't had any weight gain, acne problems, but I have had a significant decrease in energy (which with how much I enjoy running, is not working out because I would rather sleep all day and lay around and that's not me at all). Also sex drive = none existent and I should have the urge at 23, but just isn't there. So, this definitely isn't the right pill for me. It did eliminate the cramping though, but the bleeding and being worn out is too much to handle."

Seasonique (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) "I started taking this medication on July 7, 2015 to try and regulate my periods and control my abnormal heavy uterine bleeding I had been experiencing. Everything was fine (minor nausea) the first 2 1/2 weeks and then I started bleeding on July 25, 2015. Just lightly the first 2 days and then it heavy. Today is August 6 (13 days and counting) and I still am bleeding heavy and cramping badly."

Seasonique (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) "Seasonique was great for 2 months and THEN on the 3rd month, I started to bleed heavily. Every time I stood up, I felt like I peed myself, every minute I had to change my pad/liner and then blood clots. It was just bad. Very uncomfortable. My period was light for the first week and then 2 more weeks, that’s when it got heavy, heavier than my regular period. So yes, maybe my body was transitioning but I honestly couldn’t stand it. I hate that uncomfortable feeling, especially at night, I was leak all the way down to my bum crack, (sorry). And I would get very hot at night. I am officially off BC, I’d rather get my period every month for 2-3 days, work out, have a good diet and drink water and know my body, rather than not knowing what is going to happen. Obviously everyone’s body is different, but the heavy periods ain’t it. Ain’t bout that life, like I said, I’d rather get a LIGHT period every month, rather than deal with a heavy one for WEEKS. Also. I had BAD cramps!"

Seasonique (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) "This has been such a sweet relief, I wish I stared sooner as soon as my periods were getting slowly heavier and horrible. After throwing up on my last period and getting anaemic - enough was ENOUGH and decided to speak to my doctor, after getting my script filled and examined ( I had nothing wrong internally) and got seasonique. Took about a month for my body to settle down. EXPECT some side effects, headache, tender breast and fluid retention until ur levels even out. U MUST Take the pill SAME time EVERYDAY!! I experienced one break through bleed, cause I was 8 hrs late in taking one and lasted a week. This is because the hormones last so long in the bloodstream and any slight dip triggers bleeding. goodluck in starting!! :)"

Aviane (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) "My doctor put me on Aviane to suppress my periods for terrible PMS and mood swings. I have been taking them now for 4 weeks. Am supposed to be getting my period today and feel GREAT. I have not gained any weight, which I would gain 5 pounds just prior to my period. Besides the very mild cramps nothing unusual. I do not feel any lack of sexual drive but do feel slightly drier than normal. Again, I can deal with all of these symptoms to skip the PMS rollercoaster. So far so GREAT! I am 39, two kids, no more with a history of depression type symptoms."

Jolessa (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) "Switched from tri sprintec because of side effects started jolessa. The first 7 weeks were great no side effects no issues. I'm now ten weeks in. I started spotting at the end of week 7 which was normal but it kept getting heavier. I've been bleeding heavily for 14 days now, longer than any of my periods before birth control. I've also had cramps so bad that it caused vomiting which has never happened before. I'm nearly doubled over in pain half the day and constantly nauseous. I saw one doctor they told me to stick with the pill so I did but my symptoms only continued to get worse so I got a second opinion from a doctor trained in this field. She recommended stopping the pill. So I did the bleeding is the same after being pill free for three days I've been really sick nausea, and headache. Starting jolessa was great and I thought it was helping but if I knew it would have been such a nightmare I never would have went on this pill"
